The bedroom was cool and dark as Phil entered. That meant that the mound in the middle of the bed hadn't left it in the last couple of hours, which he was very pleased with, he knew that Melinda had been having trouble sleeping, with her due date so close and she'd been worrying about him, taking over her workload and consistently running into trouble. But she was resting at the moment and he wasn't going to disturb her, so he dumped his go bag in the corner, to empty at a later date and changed out of his suit quickly, he stood there watching Melinda sleep for a little while longer, before quietly exiting the room and heading to the kitchen.

He couldn't do a lot to help her through her pregnancy, but what he was excellent at was feeding her and when he opened the fridge and realised, she hadn't been shopping in the week he'd been away, he had to improvise on the fly, so he grabbed everything they had and set to work, hoping he'd be able to scrape something workable together.

It's been a while and he eventually finishes with something that's between breakfast and supper, but Melinda will eat it. He makes one of her favourite teas and sets the table for them both. He heads into the bedroom and leans in the doorway, watching her sleep. "Stop hovering." Comes a soft mumble from within the bed and Phil grins and covers the space in a few quick strides, crouches down and pulls the blankets back to show him Melinda. She blinks tiredly up at him and he just grins as he leans down and places a kiss on her cheek. "I've made food if you're hungry." He offered and before she could answer her stomach let out a growl. "Well, that answers that question." He laughs and lets Melinda slowly move herself into an upright position. She scowls at him as he continues to grin madly at her. He never thought he'd be able to love Melinda more, but this right here, was absolute heaven.

"The sooner she gets out of me the better." Melinda complained as she got to her feet slowly and started to move out of the bedroom. Phil just placed a gentle hand on her back as he guided her out of the room. "She'll come out, when she's good and ready. Don't rush her." Phil whispered as he sat Melinda down and she glared over at him. "I'm the size of a house and I'm barely able to move from the bed to the bathroom. She can start to think about getting out of me, quick sharpish." Melinda says annoyed, directing the last of her statement to her large stomach. Phil chuckles as he crouches down so he's level with her stomach. "Don't you listen to your mother. She's just grouchy, you stay in there as long as you need. We'll be ready, when you feel safe to enter the world." Phil mumbled and placed a kiss to the top of her stomach and when he glanced up at Melinda, she was trying to scowl at him, but the smile in her eyes wasn't fooling him. "Come on eat. We need to keep your strength up." Phil comments as he finally takes his seat opposite her and the two of them sit down to eat, as Phil recounts his latest mission to her.

His latest and hopefully his last, for a while anyway. He promised her that he'd be there for her and the baby when the time came and that means his director role will have to take a back seat, because there's something far more important to him than the job and that's his family, this small little mess that he's created and he'll hold on for as long as possible.
