Tifa
"Cloud is going to war."
"I know."
I paced back and forth.
"You think you can get him somewhere safe, somewhere-"
"Do you think he would appreciate that?"
I froze.
"This is our son."
"I know. I don't like putting his life at risk but, at the same time I've put a lot of other peoples son's at risk, their families at risk. That's what war is. I can't just say that my family is allowed to skate by because I'm special. It doesn't work like that, this is a war of national survival and that means our family fights too."
"It isn't fair."
"No it isn't but we were not given a choice, Tifa. It's not up to us if we have peace or not, it's up to the Covenant."
"So he's going on the front lines."
"Yeah."
"And you're not going to do anything?"
"Cloud wants to be on the front lines, he wants to serve with his friends, and he's going to be an adult. We need to respect his choices."
I frowned at my husband.
"I want to keep him safe."
"The universe doesn't give us what we want, all we can do is care about the people we love and take things one day at a time."
His phone rang and I frowned then he smiled.
"So?"
"Looks like the enemy is having an open rebellion, we might just win this war soon."
I felt a sense of relief.
"Thank God."
