Thel 'Vadam
Prophet of truth is an ironic name.
Ironic with what I know, Ironic with what I and my men found as we gathered up all of the evidence. We were all Sangheili and I showed them the logs and the recorded discussions, showed them what had been planned. Huey had been true to his word and we had found the wrecked elements of the fleet, found yet more evidence, all of it damning.
An Arbiter has every right to talk to the council, the right is ancient. I turned to my men and they nodded. None of us talked, all of us knew just how many of our people came so very close to dying in horror and some of us had family on the homeworld. The council was corrupt, the covenant that bound our people was broken. The empire I served was dead. We got to the capital, my men under cover of another reassignment of Elite troops to inglorious postings.
"Arbiter, there is a speech. Your presence is demanded."
I glared at the Prophet.
"Certainly."
I walked with them and nodded at my men, signals were exchanged and they went to the camera rooms with the data sticks while they set up the empire-wide speech. I sat down at my spot, the Prophet smiled and gave his speech. I listened, motionless, until a red dot was on my leg as the signal was given. The Prophet of truth continued to give his speech, unaware that the actual truth was being broadcast to the entire empire. We exposed his lies, exposed what the council had planned to do the entire empire. The Prophets didn't notice the Brutes being shuffled out of the room, didn't notice us taking over all of the security.
The man kept speaking and, as his speech concluded, I got up and stabbed him with my plasma sword, right in the back. The other members of the council screamed as they were gunned down, and then I gave a vow of revolution. The empire had turned its back on its ideals, it had become corrupt.
In less than 3 minutes I ended an empire. Riots tore apart the capital as my people and others fought side by side. The war with Huey was over, the civil war however had just begun. When the days of fighting were over I went to rest and found a single message.
'I forgive you.'
Of all the things that happened to me in my life, I treasured those three words the most.
