Epilogue

The end of the human-Covenant war ended with the death of the Prophets. The empire fell into revolution, with the Elites leading the rebel forces against the Brute-led loyalists. The fighting would continue for another 3 years but the Brutes simply lacked the industry and discipline that the Elites possessed. The UNSC and Front fleets would aid the rebels and help turn the tide more than once to make sure that the war ended with a decisive Rebel, UNSC, and Front Victory.

I would love to say that in victory the rebels were magnanimous but what followed was the genocide of the Prophets, most of that race would be wiped out by the enraged rebel forces. Some out of very old grudges, some for new ones, and some in response to more and more revelations of corruption. It is estimated that only 3% of that race still exists with most of the survivors now doing manual labor for low wages, forced to live in slums as their homes and villas were taken from them.

The Covenant civil war was brutal, with the empire glassing worlds in mass. After the war the empire shattered like glass, so much so that the UNSC found itself as the largest intact space polity in the galaxy. One would think that after such a war the UNSC would go to war with the Front to unify humanity, but this did not happen. Decades of fighting side by side had built up respect. Instead, the UNSC focused on reforms.

The old corrupt leadership was not allowed to return to power. A fairer and more equitable civilian government was set up, one that had far more respect for human life and human rights than its predecessor. The age of reform would take decades but the UNSC that came out of it would be a much stronger power.

The Front for its part concentrated on improving its technology, industry, and trade. Their ever-growing collection of ships allowed them to dominate the trade lanes of the former Covenant empire, making the Front incredibly rich. Peace, with all of its flaws, finally came to the galaxy after years of conflict.
