UPDATE

Hi, everyone. Animedevilluvzyuri here. Thanks to fanfiction FINALLY fixing the email problem, I received a couple of reviews wondering when A New Beginning will be updated again. To give a clear and consistent answer, I am still working on the next chapter. The reason why it's taking so long is a combination of this current part of the chapter I've been slogging through for quite some time, life, and admittedly, video games. Seriously, I platinumed Ghost of Tsushima, played Red Dead Redemption 2 to be of better help for Crimson Soldat's crossover story Wild West Dragon, and I'm currently playing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (completed the Pokedex for the first time in my 26 years as a Pokemon fan and they're my favorite Pokemon games. Blasphemous, I know.) I'm on the DLC now. Even with all of that, I have worked on the chapter.

When this update was uploaded for all of you to see, the chapter has over 13,000 words. And I'm not halfway done with it. Seriously, it's very difficult to write dialogue between so many characters and come up with a subject for them to talk about. When the chapter is finally uploaded, you may see what part I struggled with most. I wouldn't be surprised if this chapter ends up being longer than chapter 88 which is over 30,000 words. But this chapter is very important to me, especially since I've been writing fanfiction for over ten, maybe eleven years at this point.

However, I will give a slight blurb of the chapter that I finished. Here you go, everyone.

Blurb Start

everyone in the group split into smaller groups for small chit-chat. Esren, Ghira, Kali, and Sienna were in one group discussing past deeds and adventures. Qrow decided to sit out and drink in solitude. As for everyone else, a certain topic came up while talking to each other. "So, you had a dream where you were fighting a bartender?" FT Leone asked.

Yang nodded at the question. "Yep. Right around the Vytal Festival too. She was a pretty good fighter too and for some reason, a dolphin came out of the floor when she uppercut me. I won though but I sometimes wonder if snapping her neck was necessary."

Blake raised her hand next. "I had a similar dream too. I was fighting this one girl who moved in an interesting way. She used some sort of gear to maneuver around the buildings and she was strong. A terrifying moment was where she managed to cut my arm off but I managed to win. I'd rather have her as an ally than an enemy." Yang shuttered when she heard Blake lose an arm. She'd rather not relive that memory again.

"I have one too," Weiss spoke. "In my dream, I was fighting a girl who had similar powers to me and she was strong. I even asked her that question and she replied 'strong enough' before shooting herself in the head with a gun and that somehow restored her power."

"Okay, that's weird." FT Chelsea commented.

"Ooh, ooh! I got one!" Ruby excitedly spoke. "I dreamed I was fighting another girl that had a talking scythe."

"Did you win or lose?" The younger Chelsea asked.

Ruby just shrugged. "I don't know. I woke up before the huge climax happened." Esdeath and Weiss were sure Ruby would win.

FT Leone raised her hand next. "I had a dream where I fought this one tiger lady that was hella strong. Like, was naturally strong and she used a huge sword that she swung around like it was nothing. I don't remember how that fight ended."

"I think I got something too." Wave spoke next. "I remembered as soon as I saw that...Gajeel guy, was it? I fought someone like him and he was real tough. I don't know how that fight ended, though."

Already FT Leone liked the idea. "Ooh, you fighting Gajeel would be cool!"

"Um..." Everyone looked over at Wendy. "I had...a strange dream. I still don't know what to make of it."

"What was it, Wendy?" Carla asked.

"Well, I was fighting a girl who seemed like a couple of years older than me. She had long glowing blonde hair and...eerie scarlet eyes. I remembered they looked so cold."

Everyone looked over at Yang's direction and she held her hands up. "Hey, don't look at me."

"No, it wasn't Yang." Wendy clarified. "The girl I mentioned is younger than her. I was fighting her in my Divine Sky Dragon Mode but she overwhelmed me with her power and I lost. The last thing I remember was a searing bright light. What I found the strangest of all is that her voice sounded so much like mine."

The fact of even hearing that Wendy lost in a dream was nigh unbelievable to the rest of the group. "What, no way. You losing in your strongest form? You're the girl who beat Esdeath twice and helped beat Achnologia. If this mystery girl is as strong as you said, she'd have to be impossibly strong."

"It is just a dream," Taeko spoke. "However, there's been evidence that dreams may hold meaning."

"Okay, but what does it mean when Wendy loses to some random girl?" FT Chelsea asked.

"Who knows? Our world alone has many mysteries." It was still hard to imagine Wendy of all people losing even if it was in a dream considering almost everyone here has seen what she can do.

"Uh..." Everyone looked at Ilia who seemed a little confused. "What's a Divine Sky Dragon Mode? And she killed Esdeath twice?" She pointed over at Esdeath. "And who's Achnologia?" Everyone was reminded that Ilia was a bit out of the loop. So, they explained everything to her. Needless to say, she was overwhelmed and couldn't believe half of the stuff the young dragon slayer had gone through.

End Blurb

Again, rest assured I'm still working on the chapter. It's gonna be a hell of a thing when it's uploaded. One more thing to say and thank you all for reading this story. It's almost up to 1,000 favorites and I never thought this story would reach such a milestone when I first started it. Even though I still don't understand why this many people like it when I made so many mistakes in this. In any case, that's the update and I'll see you all in the next chapter when it finally finishes.

...

Several loud booms occurred throughout the city of Vacou with large clouds of dust forming. Out of one of the dust clouds was a young woman with black hair braided into a crown braid. She wore a long dress of blue, white, green, and purple, that appeared to be like running water. She had a silver chain wrapped around her waist and a crown-marked brand on her wrist.

Leader of the Crown: Gillian Asturias

Gillian, or Gill as others close to her called her, was out of breath. Her opponent was certainly giving her a hard time even with her massively powerful aura protecting her that gave her an ethereal glow. She let out a sigh. "I admit, you're truly strong. I admire that strength of yours."

Across from her was the dust cloud she came out of and it slowly vanished with the wind carrying it. From within it was another young girl. She had long, auburn hair put up in a ponytail with a couple of hairpins and green eyes. She wore a tank top with leggings with a belt and ankle bands. She was also barefoot. She just leered at Gill.

Former Elite Seven member: Poney Rakshasa

Gill couldn't help but laugh a little. "I must say, even if you are the enemy, you're the pinnacle of what we're looking for. As long as we have powerful semblances, we do not need Dust." She smiled as an idea came to her. "How about you join us? With your power, we could easily conquer anything that stands in our way and no one would dare challenge us."

Poney just growled at the offer and glared at her. "Why would I ever fight for a side that hurts people!? What you guys have done, I will never forgive." There was something else she left out. "Besides, I have something to protect now."

She thought of the three people that meant the most to her.

The first was a young girl with amber eyes and short light brown hair. She wore a long red coat and brown pants. "Forget about me calling you Horse, I'm calling you Zebs from now on because you have the strongest kick I've seen."

The second was a tall, young man with a study and muscular build. He had short brown hair that was combed back and a scar on his left cheek. He wore a butler outfit "As long as I can make use of this beastly side I have to help others, that's good enough for me."

The last was a young man with black hair and green eyes. He wore glasses and a necklace with a gem around his neck. His outfit was a green jacket with a black T-shirt underneath and black pants. "You may be a six out of ten in the looks department, but as someone who I can rely on, you're a ten out of ten."

There were others too such as CVFY and SSSN. Poney's met so many new people while being in this strange, new world and she wasn't going to let that woman and her group win. She got into her fighting stance. "I'll kill you."

"Good." A manifestation of Gozuki appeared behind her. "Those who do evil deeds need to be killed. It's for the sake of the good of people." That was right. Gill was someone who did awful things to innocent people and needed to be killed.

"We're Huntsmen, Zebs" Poney then remembered that conversation. "We're not killers. It's not our place to be judge, jury, and executioner. Even then, killing someone should be a last resort if there are no other options."

Then she remembered another conversation she had with a man with fair blonde hair and golden eyes. He had small white wings coming out from the sides of his head. "You must learn there is a difference between killing someone and stopping them."

Poney still struggled to understand that. "But isn't killing them the same as stopping them? What's the difference?" She shook her head to do away with these distractions. Right now, she had to focus on the next round. With her mind focused now, she dug her heel into the ground and launched herself at Gill while she gave a powerful yell. She closed the distance fast between them and delivered one of her powerful kicks.
