Keefe's POV:
I stared up in shock as my history teacher, Mr. Galant, started to sprout wings.Mr. Galant had just asked Sophie, Biana and I to stay with him at the end of class.
I had been reluctant, seeing as, first of all, we were supposed to finish right now, and he was making us have our week-end shorter than the others. It would take longer to get home. But more importantly, I really didn't like History, and much less the teacher.
His way of acting, teaching and speaking didn't really please me. He had been weird to all of the Demi-Gods and us since the beginning of the year.
I had begged Foster to let me ditch this subject, but she wouldn't let me, saying it was 'important not to attract too much attention, especially since everyone could be a monster'.
I couldn't possibly say no to Foster, first of all because she was my girlfriend, second of all because she could inflict pretty hard when she's angry, so I decided to deal with it, as Percy liked to say, and to speak only when spoken to.
But even if Mr. Galant behaved like an animal when he told you off because you were speaking with your friends, I hadn't expected him to actually be a monster.
I blinked so hard it actually hurt, trying to make sure what I was seeing was real.
What? No one wants to fight a big ugly creature with creepy wings.
I studied the creature in front of me.
Its whole body was a deep, gooey green, and its eyes were a beady black that glowed in the light. The most peculiar thing was its beak, it seemed to contain all the colors of the rainbow, but with all the wrinkles it counted, it was just disgusting. Its two wings were my size, making him look very impressive.
Mr. Galant, AKA, the monster smiled like a maniac, which was creepy coming from something that didn't have lips.
"Ah, how long I have waited for this moment since the beginning of the year. I've had to deal with you and correct your evaluations, your homework though I knew everything would be right, seeing your advanced minds. I just can't stand you: always the clever-clogs aren't you elves? My master has told me I could kill you now, which I will do with pleasure, but the question is: Who shall I devour first?" The creature spoke in a raspy and deep voice, making him even creepier than he was.
I spread my hands in front of me to mark a stop.
"No one is getting devoured, unless we let you." I said.
Sophie and Biana took that moment to charge. Biana disappeared out of thin air while a ball of electric red light on front of Sophie's forehead.
Sophie's POV:
I was still in shock because of the transformation of Mr. Galant. This teacher was actually one that I liked. He had given me good grades since the beginning of the year, and always made sure I was okay. I hadn't expected him to become this... creature.
I closed my eyes to try to regain my focus.
I used the confusion, the anger and the other emotions inside me that I couldn't make out. Directing them all to my heart, I willed a sphere of red light to present itself in front of me.
I aimed it at Mr. Galant before throwing all of my emotions at him.
Just as Mr. Galant crumbled, I looked at the window that separated the hall and the classroom. There were Annabeth, Percy and Piper, who were standing with their mouths and eyes wide in shock.
I looked back at Mr. Galant, who was now crumbled onto the ground in a heap of green limbs and wings.
The beam of red coming from my forehead disappeared.
"What's that?" I screamed as it suddenly burned up and turned into a pile of black ashes.
I felt myself go light and my sight went blurry. The colors of the emotions I had inflicted on the monster seemed to come all the way to my eyes, brain and chest. A long story short, everything ached. Strong arms wrapped around me as the world went black.
Percy's POV:
My gaze shifted to Annabeth right after Sophie fell unconscious."Did you know she could do that?" I asked her panicked.
What Sophie had just done, the thingy with the ball of red electricity coming from her forehead was, I'll admit, very impressive.
Was that what she called Inflicting?
"Yeah, she said she could. But I didn't think it could actually beat up a monster in two seconds." Annabeth replied, still staring at the two fallen opponents.
"Uhm, shouldn't we go help?" Piper asked suddenly, walking through the door. "Is she going to be okay?"
She leaned over to get a better look at the pale Sophie.
Keefe looked up from his sitting position.
"Yeah, she's gone through worse. Like having her heart stop." he joked, though I could tell he was worried about her. "But I'm kind of scared, the last time Foster used her Inflicting was when we battled the Neverseen, and those aren't exactly fond memories. Maybe they're going to come back to her."
I advanced myself from the door.
"So, that's Inflicting?" I asked to no one in particular.
Keefe nodded.
"Yeah, it can be a little bit of a shocker when you receive it. But it's stronger than it was before, since she reset her abilities." He explained, squeezing Sophie's hand.
I smiled at the cuteness of the scene. I could tell from how he acted around her, how he looked at her and how he talked about her, that Keefe really loved Sophie.
"Yeah, we should get back home, can you do that levitating thingy to transport her? Because I do not feel like carrying anything right now." I said.
Keefe scowled at me.
"Foster's extremely light, I can carry her in style!" he said, waving his head aside so that his hair flowed even more.
I rolled my eyes in amusement.
"Fine, but don't complain." I said, dismissively turning toward the door.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Keefe taking Sophie carefully into his arms bridal style.
Elodie's POV:
I pressed my hand against my chest, still trying to catch my breath after the scene I had just witnessed.I had just skipped away from my class when I had seen Annabeth standing next to a classroom, her hands in her pockets with Percy and Piper. I had wanted to apologize to her, since she had been less angry than Sophie when I had the other day.
I had made my way toward them in discretion, just to observe how angry they were at the moment, so that I knew how much how would need to beg for their forgiveness.
Nope, never doing that! A Queen has to keep her reputation intact!
I had been about to turn back because I could see they had frowns on their faces when I had heard a deep voice speaking creepily.
I had ran to the nearest hiding place.
I had looked up at the window to see what was going on inside. Even now, I still regretted doing that, because what I had seen was a horror, still inked in my memory.
A tall green creature, with bat wings and a disgusting beak. Its eyes looked ready to kill, and Sophie, Biana and Keefe had been standing right in front of it, looking ready to fight.
How could such things like that exist?
How could they fight a ten-foot monster?
And more importantly, WHY WAS THERE A TEN-FOOT MONSTER?
I had scrambled to my bag as quietly as possible to get out my phone. I had to film this to have proof. I put my phone in the air, filming the scene.
Suddenly, Biana vanished into thin air.
I had stared in shock, looking around the classroom for her.
But the real thing that had shocked me was Sophie. In front of her forehead, a beam of red light had formed and all of a sudden, it had blasted straight toward the creature.
I had gasped, covering my mouth with my hands.
The monster fell to the ground, crying in pain before becoming a pile of ashes.
The beam of red light had disappeared in front of Sophie's forehead and she crumbled. Keefe had been just in time to catch her, making her lie down on his knees on the ground.
"Did you know she could do that?" I had heard a male voice whisper from the hall.
"Yeah, she said she could. But I didn't think it could actually beat up a monster in two seconds." I had heard Annabeth reply.
"Uhm, shouldn't we go help?" Piper's voice had asked suddenly, walking through the door I had been observing through. "Is she going to be okay?"
She had leaned over to get a better look at the pale Sophie.
Keefe had looked up from his sitting position.
"Yeah, she's gone through worse. Like having her heart stop." he had joked. "But I'm kind of scared, the last time Foster used her Inflicting was when we battled the Neverseen, and those aren't exactly fond memories. Maybe they're going to come back to her."
I had gasped...
Again.
Her heart had stopped?
How could she have survived that?
It must have been horrible.
Kids had battled other people? Maybe it was a gang or something.
Had she gotten really hurt when she had fought them?
So many questions clouded my mind, it was sickening.
Percy had approached them.
"So, that's Inflicting?" he had asked.
THE SCARY RED LIGHT BEAMING THINGY THAT KILLED THAT MONSTER EVEN HAD A NAME?
Keefe had nodded as if it were a normal question.
"Yeah, it can be a little bit of a shocker when you receive it. But it's stronger than it was before, since she reset her abilities." He had explained, looking down at Sophie with a fond smile on his face.
ABILITIES?
RESETTING?
My mind was shrieking at this point.
"Yeah, we should get back home, can you do that levitating thingy to transport her? Because I do not feel like carrying anything right now." Percy had said, fake-yawning.
Keefe had frowned at him.
"Foster's extremely light, I can carry her in style!" he had said, waving his head aside dramatically.
I had almost giggled at that point: I could see why Sarah had a crush on him. Though he was already taken by Sophie, seeing how he acted, talked around her.
"Fine, but don't complain." Percy said, walking to the door.
He had taken Annabeth's hand and they had gotten out of the classroom.
I had scrambled toward the Janitor's closet as I had clicked the button to stop the video on my phone.
The last thing I had seen before I closed the door was I Keefe taking Sophie carefully into his arms in bridal style.
"Are you okay El'?" my mother asked me as I sat thinking there, my fork randomly stabbing my piece of meat at the dinner table.
I smiled at her.
"Yeah, of course! How was your day?" I asked.
My mother smiled and started to talk about her day at the clothes shop she owned, how many costumers she had, among other things I hadn't listened to.
Meanwhile, I was thinking about the combat between the monster and the students. Had I been hallucinating or something?
"That's great mom!" I said as she finished talking about her day.
I turned to my step-dad.
"How was yours?" I asked him, trying to keep the subject a maximum away from me.
"Well, I'm glad you asked! So I went-" my brain stopped calculating whatever he said, because my dad always went into big speeches about literally nothing.
I nodded as he finished talking.
"Great, I'm just going to go to sleep. I don't feel really good." I said.
My mother nodded.
"Okay, sleep tight!" she told me.
I thanked her and walked over to my room. But I wasn't going to sleep, I was re-watching the video I had taken, to try to see details I had missed.
I took my phone from my pocket before getting ready for bed, in a series of putting my pajamas on, brushing my teeth and my hair, and turning the light of my room off. I slipped into my bed, taking my phone.
I put my headphones in my ears and plugged them onto the phone before playing the video.
The scene was just as frightening as I remembered, with the ugly monster, and Sophie's 'Inflicting' as they would call it.
I put my phone down.
I had to go to sleep if I wanted to confront them on Monday to ask what that was about.
Even though it meant being yelled at, I had to know the truth.

A/N:
So this chapter was a little longer than the usual length!
That was because I'm compensating for my next abcense.
So, I just looked at the first few chapters, and I have to admit...
They're NOT VERY GOOD.
Oof- that was hard to say. Perfectionism is my only... well, imperfect characteristic.
But, let's face it, shall we?
So I won't update very soon, since I'll be editing the first chapters!
Hope you enjoyed this chapter though, and please have a great day/night! ? ゚マᄏ
