After quickly taking care of some business there which went fairly easy for once, especially with Brooklyn's clothes being on right the first time, he had headed into the kitchen to get some breakfast.
"So, fighting really over, Daddy?", Brooklyn asked as Steve nodded, though he changed the look on his face to more of an 'er' look. "Well, sort of. The fighting's over across the Atlantic, where Mumma and Daddy fought; the big ocean near our house.", he pointed towards where the Atlantic was. "But there's a bigger ocean, the Pacific, on the other side of the country.", he pointed west. "Where we're still fighting. But you don't need to worry about that, Mumma and Daddy don't have to fight anymore. We've done all that we got asked for and now we get rewarded by allowing us to stay home until it's all over.".
Brookyln smiled, "Long time staying?", and Steve nodded, "That's right, Brooke. We ain't going anywhere anymore without you now...We love you all, including your new sibling.", with a smile as he then blinked, seeing that breakfast was already made, with the family at the table, eating and drinking, with only Bucky missing, probably picking up the newspaper as usual.
Harrison glanced at the trio, "Peg-Meg's not leaving bed, huh?", and Steve nodded, "Yeah.", grabbing a tray, grabbing plates and bowls to fill breakfast in, for Peggy and the rest of them, while Asher will breastfeed from his mumma like usual, "The baby is really active this morning...".
Amanda glanced at him, "Is she alright?", and Steve reassured his mother-in-law, "She's fine, just tired yet so content, though she's still a bit stressed as we hadn't any news yet if the war's ended.", with a sigh.
Audrey, while breastfeeding Marina, replied, "Don't worry, Steve, we know Phillips and if he said that the war's going to end soon, it will.", before hearing a triumphant yell outside the front side of the house.
"Bucky sounds happy.", Audrey then said, easily recognizing that was him. "Hopefully, he hasn't scared Peggy by doing that...", Steve sighed and shook his head before the door opened and Bucky rushed in. "What's going on?", Steve asked.
"Got good news from my sisters in New York. Turns out that Catherine got news that her husband is coming back for some weeks until he's needed in the Pacific, while Julia is officially having her husband coming back permanently from Europe.", Bucky grinned with a laugh. "Got a call on one of the payphones. But that's not all! Look!", whipping out a newspaper he got from the front yard.
Now, any newspaper is having old stuff, like being blah and blah here and there, nothing interesting to grab the family's attention, that is, until today, right now, for the front of the town's newspaper is literally in big letters.
"Is that what I think it says?", Harrison asked as he was staring at the words. "I doubt they'd make a huge mistake like this...", Bucky smirked as he kept holding it up.
Indeed, right smack on the front, in big font, all caps, is 'GERMAN WAR IN EUROPE OVER!', with articles here and there, but it was clear to everyone as Steve whispered, "We did it...", in stunned shock.
"I mean... writing was on the wall as you guys said before...", Audrey spoke up. "But I guess just to finally see those words..."
"Says there's still a few German holdouts but the current German government ordered all units to surrender to the victorious Allied powers.", Bucky said before shaking his head with a large grin. "Just... feels almost unreal to see that.".
Steve felt a small hand tugging at his shirt, and he looked down at Asher in his arms, whining hungrily as Brookyln replied, "Daddy, is it being good news?".
"Yes, it is, Brooke...The war's over in Europe for good...", Steve exhaled, still reeling momentarily of the news, and Brookyln smiled so widely, "Come on, Daddy, we need go tell Mumma! We hungry for breakfast!", literally bouncing on her feet.
Steve nodded as he heard the others hugging and kissing and cheering as the news finally settled in, carrying the tray in his free hand as he cradled Asher in the other arm, and headed back to the master bedroom.
As soon as they got in, Peggy looked up as she stroked her baby bump in concern and yet content bliss, "What's happening? Steve, are you okay?", seeing the shellshocked expression on her husband's face, and before Steve could answer, Brookyln scampered into the bed, "Mumma, Uncle Bucky got newspaper and it saying that war in Europe over!", helping with the tray into bed as Steve was still standing by the bed.
Peggy gasped, widening her eyes, ignoring the eager kicks barely as tears came to her eyes, "Is...did she tell the truth, Steve?", as she reached for Asher who's increasing his hungry whines.
"What makes you think she was lying?", Steve chuckled as Peggy blushed. "You're right; she'll lie about little things like if she ate her vegetables or something; not something like this that she probably doesn't fully understand.", Peggy said as she took a deep breath. "So, it's all official?".
"Yep, Germans signed surrender documents and all; ordered what remains of their army to stand down and disarm. For now, the guns have finally gone silent in Europe for the first time in forever practically.", Steve smiled.
Peggy gave a relieved, happy sob as she instinctively, nonchalantly freed her bra to feed Asher who eagerly, hungrily latched into a nipple, suckling and gulping, and she whispered, "We did it...It's all over...", before smiling happily, "Our wish has finally come true!", looking at Steve with falling tears.
Steve finally sat down next to her, smiling, kissing her on the lips as he wrapped his arm around her back, rubbing her baby bump that's full of eager kicks, "Yes, we did...", as Brookyln focused on her share of breakfast, helping pushing the tray to her daddy and mumma as Steve went to contently share the rest of breakfast off the tray to his wife with forks or spoons while she fed Asher in her arms.
The victory was prominent in everybody's minds as the house filled with joy, peace, laughter, love as the buzz of the news slowly left everyone with more hope for the future than ever as the day seems to drone on in blissful happiness.
Of course, the baby clearly can sense everything and wanting to feel and see everything that is making their family, especially their mummy happy today, they initiated labor soon within a few hours.
After breakfast, some time with the family in the living room and playroom/nursery, and a long nap, Peggy figured that as sore and aching with the weight of the active baby, her body's screaming for a nice, wonderful soak in the tub, and with a bit of adjustment with her legs to get into the tub, went to take the chance to soak and smoothen away her sore pains and such.
She sighed contentedly as she rubbed her baby bump 20 minutes in, almost covered in the warm water, relieved to feel that the active baby is enjoying the bath calmly as usual, though she can feel them tumbling in the womb like finding the perfect position to sway and sleep this time.
"I couldn't blame you, darling...I still can't believe it...I wonder if your uncle is celebrating in his own way with Mole and your other grandparents on Daddy's side in the heavens, along with the Great Kings...Atlantis must be having a great party right now...", Peggy chuckled.
Peggy felt a eager kick, and she smiled, "I know...it's a great day for America and the world...We're finally having peace at last, and oh, I know the Japanese is still giving trouble, but no need to fret, darling, we're free, we're going to be a family with no worries, no financial trouble, and all the best honors we got bestowed...".
"I can't wait to hold you, darling...You have quite an amazing family, and they will all love you as much as I do...", Peggy stroked her baby's home warmly and happily before she winced at an even eager kick with a squeeze of something, "Steady, I know, you can't wait...", when she gasped in pain as her baby bump shook of a pressure very familiar, constricting and contracting.
Peggy sobbed in joy as she realized that her baby's coming, "Oh...I guess you were answering me...You're really coming, aren't you?", stroking her baby bump, taking a deep breath, relaxing and such before she smiled, "Do you want to stay here in the tub?".
A mild kick came, and Peggy raised an eyebrow, "Do you want to come out into the world on the bed?", and an eager kick came, and she chuckled, "Okay, okay, we'll stay here in the tub for 10 more minutes, but we'd have to get out before you get really going, deal?".
A warm hand hit her hand, and she smiled, starting to gently clean herself, and at the end of 10 minutes from watching the clock, she pulled the drain, breathing deeply through the next contraction, and carefully got out of the tub, grabbing the robe, waddling slowly from the master bathroom, and as she finally got to the bed, she cried out in pain as another contraction came, while the water bag broke into the carpet, clenching into the low end post of the bed as she held into her baby bump, realizing the pain is more fierce than in the water.
"Peggy?", Steve came to the doorway a few seconds later after hearing her cry as he saw her getting onto the bed. "Sorry, contraction and water breaking...", Peggy explained as she chuckled. "This one's already eager to go...", she chuckled as Steve gave a small huff and nodded, trying to keep calm.
"Alright... alright, give me a minute to get the things we need.", Steve said as she smiled, "Glad you're not panicking this time with things.".
"Well, after everything we've been through and especially what you are now... I think it's probably safe to say that this one will probably be pretty easy to deal with.", Steve replied.
Peggy giggled, "Hopefully, yes, but I can still say the pain is not easy...After all, they've been active since fairly recently...But I'm just so finally so happy that they're actually coming in a home, our own home...Not that the flat apartment of mine wasn't nice, but it wasn't our home together in all sense, you know?", as she breathed deeply, stroking the baby bump.
Steve nodded, "Oh, I understand more than ever...They're coming home in our own home..", with a wide smile, "Do you want your mother or Audrey to help as a midwife again?".
Peggy exhaled softly, "This would probably sound strange, but I just want you, Steve...Don't get me wrong, I am glad I had help, as Brookyln and Asher were born in uncertainty and stress, but today, it's happiness and peace...and they deserve to be born in our serene place...".
"Well, let me know if you quickly change your mind and need some extra help.", Steve said as he squeezed her hand as she smiled, "I promise. Now hurry up and get what we need... don't think this little one will wait too long now...".
Steve nodded, kissing her on the cheek quickly, and left to head to the kitchen to grab what they needed while quickly telling Amanda and Harrison to just keep watching over the kids, and telling Audrey before she even started to ask, of Peggy's wish, with Bucky fiddling with the radio.
The family understood, excited yet anxious, while Steve returned with the bowl of hot, bending on warm water within time, scissors for the cord and the clip for the belly button, and towels, back to the bedroom as Peggy breathed through another contraction after crying out in pain, barely seeing Steve close the door.
Steve checked, replying, "Looks like you're between quarter and halfway dilated, Peggy, you're right, it couldn't be too long now...", with a smile, and Peggy smiled at him softly, "This is happening...", excited tears in her eyes as she stroked her baby bump, feeling the weight into her hips and such, relieved that the bath had taken the most of the soreness and everything at best.
Kissing her on the lips, Steve whispered, "It is...Good thing I remember all the necessary stuff as I was right here by your side the last two times.", with a smile as Peggy nodded in agreement.
Indeed, it didn't take too long as contractions steadily increased over the next 3 and half hours, with Steve checking occasionally, as Peggy sometimes switched positions for comfort and better ease.
Peggy cried out in pain, "Oh, Gods! That was closer than the last one!", from the passing contraction, breathing deeply, and Steve checked with a laugh, "You're all dilated, Peggy!", as his wife is sitting/laying upon a cushioning pillow, with the other pillows supporting her on the back as she rested against the headboard, her knees up and against her thighs, showing off her glistening vagina that has the birth canal open.
"This is it...", Peggy panted with a tearful smile, and Steve held her free hand while her other hand clenched into the sheets, "You got this, Peggy, you can do this. Push!".
Peggy followed her instincts, and upon the next incoming contraction, she pushed, crying out loud in pain, and Steve nodded, "Good!", encouraging his wife, ignoring the intense pain in his hand.
This continued for another hour in agonizing pain and reassuring encouragement until Peggy shouted in pain, feeling her vagina stretching, "Do you see them?!", and Steve smiled widely, "Oh, they're crowning, Peggy! Almost there! Push!", with an overjoyed laugh as he kissed her hand, letting go, and went to sterilize his hands with his crystal quickly, relieved that the tray was still here, holding the needed supplies, before cradling the slowly emerging head as Peggy pushed, crying and shouting in pain as she clenched her hands backwards into the headboard, remarkably standing to her strength.
"Almost there, Peggy! Almost!", Steve called out as he was just trying to help with the shoulders as the baby was almost all the way out, and already starting to cry the instant their mouth was uncovered.
Peggy grunted and pushed, crying out in pain as she felt the shoulders squeeze free one by one, and with a heaving push, she heard Steve laugh, "I got them!", as she panted, tears falling as the baby's quiet cries changed into an echoing wail of life, shivering and wiggling in Steve's arms as he cleaned them up gently, tears falling as well.
"It's okay, it's safe, Daddy's here...Oh, Peggy, he's beautiful!", Steve sobbed happily as he checked every inch of his son before widening his eyes, "Oh, gosh, you definitely had decided to not be normal, huh?", with a chuckle.
Peggy looked at her husband, "Is he okay?!", reaching out to her son, confused to see her husband smiling, and Steve looked at her, "We got the first carrier of the family, Peggy.", with a chuckle, "Looks like the Atlantean genes were fighting to the race as well. Oh, shh, it's okay, Mumma is getting you, there you go...".
The gurgling, crying baby boy was swaddled loosely in a blanket, their skin tone a tan bronze, like a mix of his parents, having wisps of dark blonde with a hint of snow-white highlight, a mirror set of Peggy's chocolate brown eyes, Steve's nose, and Peggy's dimples, and yep, he's a carrier, male with female parts, able to carry children when he will be an adult.
"Guess we'll have to quickly take him to Atlantis anytime he needs a checkup.", Peggy chuckled as she was trying to wipe the tears of joy from her eyes.
"How are you feeling?", Steve asked her. "Honestly... not too bad, recovering pretty quickly. Not sure if that's either the new genes now or part of the crystal but I honestly feel pretty fine...", Peggy replied.
Steve smiled and went to quickly and carefully clipped the cord in sections as he cut and such, and with a smooth push and a moan of pain, the placenta was free of Peggy, and Steve threw it into a garbage bag, cleaning Peggy up as she cradled their new son, looking beautiful despite being sweaty and such.
"Shh, it's okay, you're so perfect, and you can love anyone you want when you're older, darling...We'd be happy all the same...", Peggy spoke reverently as she was in love with the sight of her new baby, smiling happily as she kissed him on the forehead, basking in motherhood once again.
Their son gurgled as he squirmed comfortably in her arms, and Steve then joined in after he was finished, smiling as he held his wife, kissing her on the temple, "She's right, kiddo, you're perfect as who you are...So, any idea what to name him?", as he gently caressed their son's head.
Peggy hummed softly, gazing over him, remembering that he truly came upon such a wonderful day of peace and freedom, and took note of his personality and looks before smiling warmly, "Well, I like the sound of Avery and Cedar.".
