I've also been busy with World of Warcraft The War Withing early access. I've managed to complete this chapter despite it all. Now, to answer some reviews.

Chapter 20: The Ice Queen ascends once more.

The World Duel Carnival's first day has just begun and already, many duels have already taken place. A good few participates in this tournament have already been eliminated, but the World Duel Carnival was far from anywhere close to over.
Many duelists in Heartland City were in search for their next opponent to collect Heart Pieces or were dueling right this very second. And among those many duelists were Yuma and Rio.
After Yuma's victory over Striker, the gang split and went on their ways to find opponents to win Heart Pieces from. Tori, Cathy, Caswell were all eager to catch up to Yuma now that he's in the lead with two Heart Pieces. Rio decided to stay with her boyfriend since she didn't really want to be apart from him.
As for Kairi, Yuma and Rio quickly took her back to Yuma's house so that Haru could watch over the little girl while they're busy with the tournament. Kairi wished her "parents" luck and bid them a "see ya later" once they returned after a hard day of dueling.
With that out of the way, Yuma and Rio set off to find more opponents with Astral and Enna with their partners. The otherworldly married couple did send Epifanio back into the Emperor's Key to rest without disturbance.
Right now; Yuma and Rio have taken a rather interesting route; going through a construction site. Yuma came up with this idea to quickly get to a more populated area in Heartland to find more duelists, all the while Rio thought they should turn around and go the other way. But Yuma's proven to be a bit stubborn about this.
Yuma was running through down at the ground level of the construction site with Rio close behind. Astral and Enna were floating close by their partners with the husband of the married couple looking around in fascination.
"I still think this is a bad idea, just to let you know". Rio told her boyfriend, catching the Syllables Duelist's attention. Yuma looked over his left shoulder and gave Rio a confident grin. "It's fine! It's fine! We're just passing through". Yuma responded, turning to face forward again once he finished speaking.
"Yeah, well that's the last time I let you decide which way we're going". Rio complained, but Yuma wasn't disheartened in the least. He ran faster than before, while Rio looked to her left and saw a few construction workers working. "I never was a big fan of machines". The Ice Queen remarked, facing forward and ran faster to catch up with Yuma. Astral and Enna wordlessly floated after their partners.
The Syllables Duelist continued on, going up a staircase now that lead higher up the construction site. "You do realize the chances of us getting into trouble are high here, and that finding someone to duel are low". Rio spoke up, taking a mental note to take charge once they walk out of here to avoid something similar in the future.
Astral took that moment to speak up. "Yuma, what exactly do you use a construction site for?" The Astral World being asked his partner, arms crossed and still looking around their surroundings. Yuma stopped in his tracks, placed his left hand on the staircase's left railing and looked up at Astral.
"We use it to build new buildings or break old ones downs". Yuma answered Astral, turning to face forward again and run up the staircase. He stopped once he reached the end of it and looked at Rio over his right shoulder. "Keep up Rio! Shark's gonna tear my head off if something happens to you!" The Syllables Duelist called out to his girlfriend, before taking off once more.
2 seconds later, Rio reached the top of the staircase and stopped for a moment. "Then maybe don't go picking random shortcuts like this". The Ice Queen stated, capturing Yuma's attention once more as he stopped in his tracks. He looked over to Rio and spoke.
"Okay, I'll try to keep this from happening again. Let's just hurry". The 13-year-old boy told Rio. Before she could reply, sounds of crashing came from above, catching everyone's attention. They looked up to see two scaffoldings falling down towards Rio, much to their horror as they all gasped.
"Rio!" Yuma exclaimed in alarm, running to his girlfriend as fast as he could. He managed to reach the Ice Queen and take hold of her right hand with his left. Yet just as he was about to run to safety with Rio in hand, a yellow excavator suddenly came out of nowhere and strangely enough, there didn't seem to be anyone driving it.
The sudden appearance of the machine pushed Yuma and Rio away a little with the 13-year-old boy taking the brute force of their crash on his back, yet was unharmed. And Rio was safe and sound in her boyfriend's arms.
The excavator seemed to have a mind of its own as it turned and smacked the falling scaffoldings away with its claw. But then the machine started headed for the young couple, much to the alarm of Yuma and Rio. They quickly got back up on their feet with Yuma taking Rio's left hand with his right. The two took off as fast as they could down the stairway with the excavator right behind them.
After 10 seconds of running, Yuma and Rio looked back at the machine and saw it still chasing them, even knocking the railings off. "This is exactly why I never go anywhere near construction sites?!" Rio cried out, throwing her head back with both eyes closed. "Are you frequently being chased by excavator machines?" The Syllables Duelist questioned his girlfriend with a sarcastic voice. "No, of course not! I just meant that I never liked these kinds of machines!" The Ice Queen answered, opening both eyes to gaze right at Yuma's face.
Yuma lightly grit his teeth, then blinked upon seeing a metal stud wall frame up ahead of them. "Jump!" The Syllables Duelist told his girlfriend as they drew closer. Once close enough, both Yuma and Rio jumped over the metal stud wall frame with Yuma wrapping both arms around Rio.
The Syllables Duelist and Ice Duelist crashed into the stairway ground with Yuma protecting Rio from the fall. Yuma opened both eyes and looked just in time to see the excavator crash with the class shattering. It shook the stairway, but was thankfully stopped once and for all.
Yuma let go of Rio as they both sat up from the ground. "Rio, you okay?" The Syllables Duelist asked in concern, which Rio gave him a reassuring face. "I am, thanks to my brave boyfriend". Rio replied, before leaning forward and pecked Yuma on his cheek.
The Syllables Duelist blushed a bit at his girlfriend's surprise peck, but didn't complain. They both looked over to the excavator and frowned a little at it. "What the hell is up with that thing? No one was driving it!" Yuma exclaimed with an annoyed face, wondering what caused that machine to go crazy like that.
Unknown if it was the universe's strange sense of humor of something else, someone came into view inside the excavator revealing someone had been controlling it. "Damn you!" A male voice cursed right before the driver walked out through the broken door,
Yuma and Rio blinked in surprise as the unknown operator walked on the excavator's left wheel. "Not even wearing safety helmets!" The operator exclaimed as he stepped on the metal stud wall frame, only to trip over his feet and fall.
Yuma and Rio climbed up to their feet and took in the appearance of the person before them. It was a rather short boy around the same height as Flip. He had straight brownish hair and eyebrows, ruby-like eyes and clear skin. He's wearing a white safety construction helmet, a red vest over a short sleeve orange shirt with orange bands on his forearms. He's wearing long creamy coloure pants with a black belt and finally black and orange boots.
The "boy" got off the ground and into a sitting position with arms resting on his legs. "Not to mention walking around on a construction site! Darn, looks like it won't stop if my foot is unable to reach brake, damn you". He cursed once more with a New York accent, gazing down at the stairway ground.
Astral and Enna floated down to a few feet behind their partners, while Yuma and Rio stared at the "boy" before them with eyes full of surprise or wonder. "T-the driver is an Elementary School student?!" The Syllables Duelist said in surprise, yet what he said ticked off the "boy" in front of them. "What?!" He shouted out, climbing right up to his feet with both fists up and glared at Yuma's face.
"An Elementary School student?!" The "boy" shouted in outrage, before holding up his right arm and flexed his muscles. "I'll have you know that Cody Callus is in middle school, damn you!" The now named Cody cursed Yuma, turning his back to him and crossed both arms.
Yuma and Rio weren't too surprised at learning Cody was around their age. After all Flip was short and he's in middle school as well. "Oh... So you're the same as us". Yuma said with a growing smile, resting his right hand on the hip. "I'm Rio. This is Yuma". Rio introduced herself and Yuma, catching Cody's attention as he turned his head to look at her.
"Thank you for saving us, Cody". Rio thanked Cody, giving him a thankful smile full of gratitude. Cody's eyes went wide at seeing how beautiful Rio is, followed by the entire face turning bright red slowly from bottom to top. He turned his eyes away from Rio's beautiful face, before he turned away completely. "I-It was nothing, god darn it!" Cody stuttered, much to the confusion of Yuma and Rio at why he's acting like that.
Enna, on the other hand, gave an amused giggle since she knew exactly why Cody was acting like that. 'Even when she's already with Yuma, Rio easily chants boys without even trying'. Astral's wife thought to herself, amused that her partner has such an effect on boys.
Astral stayed silent and watched the humans with both arms crossed. He then noticed something down on the ground and looked, where he saw it was a single small bolt. He slightly frowned at it in fascination since he's seen a few of them all around them.

Cody took Yuma and Rio to another part of the construction site higher up where the main work of construction was currently going on. Safely up above, everyone watched as construction machines such as excavators, trucks and more work.
"What a huge truck". Yuma remarked, staring down at a very big truck with a litterbot waving a red flag and blowing a whistle to give it the green light to go. "That thing can still move even it carries 300 tons of grount at once". Cody told his new friends, getting Yuma and Rio to look down at him in confusion.
"Grounts?" Yuma questioned, before tilting his head up and imagined that truck itself carrying that many pigs. "Uh, sorry about that. My mistake". Cody apologized for the mistake, before looking over to a nearby crane. "Oh, this is the 750-ton class crane. It can easily handle a rocket". He informed Yuma and Rio, replacing their confusion with amazement as they stared at the class crane.
"Really?! That's awesome!" Yuma stated, truly amazed with these machines. Astral floated a little closer to the crane machine, noticing something about it. "There are hexagonal parts over as well". He pointed out, catching Enna a bit off guard at what her husband said. She looked and saw hexagonal parts not just there, but almost everywhere around them.
"Truly fascinating. Astral World has nothing like this". The silver-haired woman thought to herself, before tilting her head down and gave a sad smile. 'Humanity has come so far since those days. I wonder what you would think of these creations, Marin'. Enna thought to herself, thinking about her first human friend that meant the world to her.
"When you really think about it all, it's really incredible!" Yuma called out, both hands resting against his hips. "So you get it? I guess you do get it!" Cody spoke up, still gazing at the crane and resting both hands on the metal railing. Rio let out a small amused giggle at the two boys, before giving a small shrug of her shoulders. "Boys just really love stuff like machines". The Ice Queen remarked, remembering how Shark even liked stuff like this.
"I really want to try operating that thing!" Yuma stated, catching Rio's attention at what he said. She turned to face him, but that was when Cody spoke up. "I know, right! Don't you just?!" The middle schooler exclaimed with spirit, placing both hands on his hips.
Yuma and Rio looked at their new friend again, while Cody gazed back at the crane machine. "Nonetheless, this is why I decided to participate in the Duel Carnival". Cody revealed, much to their slight surprise at hearing this.
Cody wasn't done talking just yet though. "In Dueling, even a short guy like me is able to control heavy class cranes, and all those machine Monsters I've dreamed of". He explained to his two new friends, before closing both eyes yet kept a smirk on his face.
"You know, it's always something I've wanted to do". Cody added, earning a grin from Yuma since he understood perfectly what he meant. "I can get what you're saying". The Syllables Duelist stated, catching Cody's attention at what he said. He looked at Yuma over his left shoulder and grinned. "Huh? You're in the Duel Carnival too?" He asked Yuma in curiosity.
"We both are". Rio spoke up, catching the attention of Yuma and Rio as they turned to look at her. "Yuma won his first Heart Piece earlier today, while I haven't yet. Would you mind being my first Duel Carnival opponent?" The Ice Queen asked with an eager voice, much to Yuma's displeasure at how she's basically "stealing" a duel from him.
Cody, on the other hand, grew a grin at Rio. "Alright, sure. But just to let you know, there's no way you can win against my almighty Construction Equipment Deck!" Cody exclaimed with spirit in his voice. Rio gave a chuckle and smirk as she folded her hands. "Even a mighty machine eventually frees into nothing. And I'll be happy to prove it". The Ice Queen said with confidence in her voice.
"You're welcome to try it". Cody told the Ice Queen, no hint of hesitation or fear in his voice or eyes. "At the end of this, remember that you're the one that talked big". Rio replied with her confident smirk still present.
Yuma stood silently to the side, watching the two with an unpleased face. He let out a sigh of defeat to accept that Rio's taken this duel and he's gonna watch from the sidelines. "Oh well, I guess it's only fair. Rio does need to duel herself to get Heart Pieces". The Syllables Duelist said to himself, giving a shrug of the shoulders.
This duel would be Rio's first one in the World Duel Carnival, and her first victory.

"As I get closer, I stretch my hand out".
Yuma ran through a street of Heartland City with the camera showing his lower half first, before changing over to show his determined face. Yuma's face was full of determination as he continued to run, before the camera changed to a sort of black world with a large red "A" next to a yellow "X" and red "L", a small shine gleaming off it.
"towards that shining light leading towards tomorrow".
The camera changed back to show Yuma running, only now a little bit behind and showing his back as he continued to run. The screen changed, now showing Yuma's Emperor's Key around his neck, swaying as he ran with a small light coming off of it. It changed back to the black world, this time showing a large red "Z" next to a large "E".
"I dream of a world that expands from my feet."
The screen changed back to Yuma running through the street from the side with a lake in the background. Then from out of nowhere, Rio ran up from behind and began running beside her boyfriend. The camera then zoomed in, right as a familiar partner to Yuma flew in with a smirk, then changed and showed beautiful silver hair blowing in the breeze.
The screen changed back to Yuma, right as he smirked and looked at his right to look at Astral right as he flew in to beside Yuma. It changed over to Rio, right before Enna flew in beside her partner on Rio's left with the Ice Queen looking at the silver-haired female with a bright smile.
The camera zoomed out to show all four of them, right before the world around them changed to a light blue colour. The view spun around a bit, before zooming in on Yuma's face. He then gave a look of resolve, before crying out, right as a bright white light appeared and covered the screen.
It then suddenly changed back to the black world with a large dark coloured "X" falling and spinning, then stopped. Then, four more large letters that were "Z", "E" "A" and "L" came in from the sides and came together with the X, forming the word "Zexal". The whole world then gleamed with the "Z", "E" "A" and "L" becoming crimson red, while the X was a golden colour, before writing appeared above and below.
With a flash of energy and the background turning bright white, the writing became visible to reveal the title "Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal Feeling the Ultimate Flow". It then changed with the background light green with the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" and "Feeling the Ultimate Flow" writing gone, leaving the Zexal part alone, only now it seemed different somehow. The camera then zoomed in close, revealing that the word "Zexal" was now made of Duel Monster cards, right before the cards all began glowing and turned bright white, then burst apart.
"I haven't a clue of where things like dreams and hopes are at."
Glowing cards raining down from above, Yuma and Astral were in the middle of Heartland City beside one another. The human boy looked ready for battle, while his partner kept his cool, calculated expression with both arms crossed. To the side, Rio and Enna stood with both of them looking away with forlorn looks in the eyes, all the four of them aware of the challenges that lie ahead.
"Even if I run looking for it, I still can't seem to find it."
Yuma, fully armed with his Duel Disk, D-Eye Tatoo and headset equipped, cried out with a look of resolve as he spun around in the air, Astral floating right behind his partner. Coming right up to the camera, Yuma brought up his right hand and reached out to his Duel Disk, right before a single crimson virtual card came out of the device's glowing orb right to the edge.
Yuma then drew the virtual card in a dramatic fashion with Astral throwing his left hand forward and the right out. The camera zoomed out, right as the background turned into a glowing light blue. Then with flashes of golden light, monsters of the two partners' deck appeared. Number 39 Utopia, Gagaga Magician, Gogogo Golem, Utopic Onomatopoeia, Zubba Knight, Rainbow Kuriboh, Zubaba General, Dark Rebelion Xyz Dragon, Acorno, Pinecono and Number 17 Leviathan Dragon, all battle ready and some in poses.
Gogogo Golem's eye gleamed while Utopia ready himself, before the Rock-Type Monster charged forward with its eye right in the screen, before disappearing from sight. Utopia flew forward with Gagaga Magician leaping up. The Xyz Monster came right up to the camera with its face up close, before flying upwards and away with Gagaga Magician coming right up.
The Spellcaster-Type Monster gave a serious look as he reared his left hand up, then widened his visible eye as he threw the left hand out and then flew away.
"I wonder if I have fallen into a gap of truth and lies."
The world change with Rainbow Kuriboh coming into view, giving a small rainbow glow by the crest on its head. The Fiend-Type monster looked to the left as the camera zoomed down below where Tray stood. Rainbow Kuriboh disappeared from view, right before Tray lifted his head up and gave a smile, holding up a card with his left hand that had a sort of green crest on the back.
The camera zoomed in on the crest, before it began gleaming and seemed to reach out. Tray faded away, the screen now zooming in on Quattro, who gave a devilish grin as he held up a card with his right hand, having a crest of his own only it was purple. The screen zoomed in on Quattro's crest, right before it started gleaming as well and reached out.
Quattro faded away and the screen zoomed in on Quinten. He turned and gave a cold look at the camera, then held up a single card with his right hand just as a blue crest appeared on his forehead. The screen zoomed on Quinten's crest, it began gleaming and reached out too.
"Even so, our grand tale has yet to begin."
Quintin's crest faded away, the screen now zooming in on Vetrix, who was sitting down on a throne. The screen stopped right in front of the "child's" grinning face, right before the eye of his mask began glowing a bright golden colour. The light blinded the screen, before suddenly clearing to reveal the inside of Yuma's Emperor Key, where Yuma, Rio, Astral and Enna all floated together with the two humans equipped with their Duel gear on, both their keys shining their own colours.
The screen changed, now showing both Kite and Luna in their transformation forms and Duel Disks on. The two siblings spun around with a single card in hand. Kite and Luna went back-to-back as the male held out Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon with the right hand, while Luna held out Moon Goddess Dragon Selene's card with the left hand.
A bright flash covered the screen from view for a moment, before clearing to reveal both Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon and Moon Goddess Dragon Selene with both dragons howling together, a cosmic galaxy as the background.
"Let's move on towards tomorrow, even if our road begins to fall apart."
The screen changed to show inside of his room in Heartland Tower, Hart gazing down at Heartland City with his back to the camera. The boy's mind flashed back to an image of Kite smiling at him full of brotherly love, before it changed to Luna giving a small full of love like that of a mother. It changed back to Hart, who slightly turned his head right without any change whatsoever to his expression.
"I will jump forward, before all my strength completely drains."
In a dark corner of Heartland docks on a stormy night full of rain, Shark walked alone, ignoring the rain. The camera zoomed in on his face as he stopped walking, before he looked over his right shoulder, where Luna stood a few feet away with her back to him, completely drenched.
The screen suddenly changed to a water world, where Shark floated with Number 37: Hope Wyvern Dragon Spider Shark in front of him, both facing Tray with a shadow covered shark-like monster a few feet away.
The screen changed once more, this time showing a random location with the AR Vision activated. Yuma and Kite stood beside one another, white smoke around them as they dueled together against an unknown opponent. Kite held a single card up with his right hand, while Yuma reached up to draw a virtual card.
It changed once more, this time showing an alleyway that was on fire. Inside the middle of this wildfire, Rio stood across Quattro with both of them equipped with their Duel gear, glaring at one another right before Number 21: Frozen Lady Justice appeared behind Rio, while a shadowy monster rose up from behind Quattro.
The screen changed again, this time show Astral and Enna floating in front of Yuma and Rio protectively with both humans equipped with their Duel gear, dueling together in a tag duel. Astral and Enna's son, Epifanio then appeared in front of his parents and let out a fierce cry as he started to shine brightly.
"The closer I get, the further it becomes,"
With the sunset in the distance, Yuma and Astral dueled against Quinton together at the circular plaza. Quinton held two cards with his right hand, while the Syllables Duelist drew a virtual card from his Duel Disk with Astral floating right behind him. The screen then changed to show Yuma, Rio, Astral and Enna looking upwards towards five opponents, one of them Striker while the other four were covered in shadows.
"that truth that I must seize."
Quattro appeared with an evil grin equipped with his Duel Disk and Duel-Eye Tatoo. He swiped his right hand upwards, holding three cards and laughed out crazily as three monsters covered in shadows appeared behind him in the background.
The screen changed to show a close-up image of Shark's right eye. The Kastle boy widened his right eye in rage, before crying out with the camera zooming out, showing him already equipped with his fully activated D-Pad with five cards in hand, right before he drew a new card from the deck in a dramatic style in the air. Then, Number 37: Hope Wyvern Dragon Spider Shark appeared out of nowhere beside its duelist and roared out.
"It's to find hope that we desire from a future unseen."
With Heartland City as the background, Doctor Faker's forces were shown one by one. First Nistro, then Dextra, holding up a card with her right hand, and finally Mr. Heartland wearing a white costume in his right hand. The camera continued going upwards, until a large hologram of Dr. Faker was shown in the distance, towering over the city. A ghostly image of Dr. Faker's eyes appeared on the screen's upper part, showing the madness inside his eyes.
The screen changed once more, this time showing an unknown girl. She has red and orange hair and appeared to be around the same age as Tori. Her attire is a pink and white shirt, which reaches below her waist, black compression shorts and a pair of boots in the same colors as her shirt.
The unknown grinned with confidence as she reached down and then threw her left hand up, now holding a large pinkish red and white cannon. She aimed the blaster forward, then fired with the force throwing her left arm back and glowing cards appearing out of nowhere from the cannon shot released.
"With a heart stronger than anyone else,"
"I'll learn to keep running up."
The screen changed back to Yuma, Rio, Astral and Enna together going forward at Heartland Street; all four of them smiling as they were joined by Tori, Bronk, Caswell, Flip, Lillybot, Alpha, Taiki and Kairi with the child carrying Epifanio in her arms, followed by Cathy jumping in out of nowhere and gave a joyous cry like a cat.
Yuma then jumped into the air and thrust his right fist up with a face full of resolve with all of his friends watching him with supportive smiles. Then, both Rio and Tori jumped into the air and went back-to-back with one another with a cheery background full of roses. Cathy came in out of nowhere and bumped into Tori, before Enna, the mystery girl, Kari, Yuma's grandmother, Lillybot, Summer and Jen then joined all of them, before finally Kairi came in and jumped into Rio's hands, still carrying Epifanio.
"With the strength to win any battle, despite just how weak I am,"
In a dessert-like field with the orange sky; Yuma and Astral were beside one another with the human boy already fully Duel equipped. Yuma draw a virtual card, before the camera shifted over to behind the two partners, showing that they were facing a Photon Transformed Kite that stood a few feet away. The Galaxy-Eyes Duelist reached for his deck, then drew with a roar and then gave a confident face at his two opponents.
The screen changed with the background now split into two colours, blue and red. Yuma threw up his right hand, while Astral did the same with his left, before both partners suddenly gained a bright golden light around themselves that briefly covered the screen. The gold glow quickly cleared to reveal Yuma and Astral's combined Zexal form with the screen zoomed in on the face.
Zexal's D-Gazer gleamed, right before the camera zoomed in, then out as Zexal brought up both hands and moved to draw a card. Zexal draw his card with a cry and spun around a bit while the background changed into a white clear world. He stopped spinning with the left fist slightly up, and right arm fully held out upwards with a white light surrounding the hand, still crying out.
A light appeared behind Zexal, taking a humanoid shape before clearing to reveal Number 39: Utopia Beyond behind its duelist, gazing down at the combined form of Yuma and Astral with a golden aura around it, its right arm blades a bit away in front of Zexal, as if it were a shield for him.
"My purpose is to find,"
The screen changed to a blue world like inside the Emperor and Empress's keys with blue lights floating upwards with ruins. Sparks appeared and came together, forming Zubaba General with the Xyz Monster's back to the screen. Zubaba General's cape blew, before he suddenly turned around and swung his blade at the camera, right before it passed him.

Three more sparks of light came together and formed Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, Gagaga Cowboy and Gauntlet Launcher with all three Xyz Monsters together. Zexal flew in out of nowhere with a gold aura and flew past the three Xyz Monsters, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, Gagaga Cowboy and Gauntlet Launcher watching him go.
Gauntlet Launcher and Gagaga Cowboy left the screen's sight, while Dark Rebellion turned its gaze directly at the camera, then roared with electricity briefly coming out of its fangs, before flying away to the side. Gagaga Girl came in from behind Dark Rebellion and spun around a bit, the camera zooming in on her face, before passing through the ribbon on her back.
"The future of the world expanding from my feet with my own eyes."
With a tower that had two separate staircases to the sides; Number 47: Nightmare Shark erupted from underneath the ground, kicking up a bit of rubble. The background turned into a bright light as Nightmare Shark disappeared from sight, before Kite appeared from out of nowhere in the floating rubble. Kite threw his right arm out like he was giving an order, before the screen zoomed in on his grinning face, right to his left eye and went inside it.
The screen changed back to the blue world, right before Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon and Number 39: Utopia Beyond flew in from the side. The two opponents flew around each other a bit, before Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon's eyes gleam with power and formed an orb of energy in front of itself, then unleashed its Eternity Photon Stream forward at Utopia Beyond.
Utopia Beyond ascended into the air, before diving down directly to Prime Photon Dragon's stream attack, before throwing both arms out as the metal parts of its armoured wings gleamed with power, before forming into a single gold glowing blade of light. Utopia Beyond took the gold glowing blade of light with its right hand, then dived forward and unleashed its Hope Sword Beyond Slash down on the stream attack, blocking the screen's view with light.
The screen changed one last time to outer space, where Yuma and Astral floated beside one another. Yuma thrust his right hand out, while Astral did the same with his left, both partners grinning as the screen zoomed away, right before a gold light suddenly erupt from their fists.
The light cleared to reveal the two partners beside one another, posing with the "World Duel Carnival" logo behind them. Gold lights were also erupting from their legs, and their Zexal form was acting like a reaction for them both below, giving it a majestic sight.

Cody took Yuma, Rio, Astral and Enna to another section of the construction site for the duel between him and Rio. He led them to an area still under construction with just the still frame and mesh floors. Rio and Cody stood across each other with the empty floor separating them, Rio on the right and Cody on the left. Enna was floating behind her partner, staring at Cody with a small frown.
Yuma and Astral were at the side, safe from the dangers of falling. The 13-year-old boy had both hands folded behind his head, while the Astral World male had both arms crossed.
"You all set?" Cody questioned his opponent, standing with utter confidence. "How's this for an answer?!" Rio replied, rearing her right hand in before throwing it out and her D-pad into the air. The Ice Queen quickly got her Duel Disk out and attached it to her left forearm before holding it up. The D-Pad came down and connected with Rio's Duel Disk, followed with the crystal themed Card Zones. Rio held up her deck with the right hand and slotted it into the Deck Zone with it shuffling.
Cody quickly brought out his fully completed silver Duel Disk with the deck already slotted in. "Time to get your game on!" Rio called out with an eager grin, placing her D-Gazer over her left eye with it activating. Cody chuckled as he placed his D-Gazer over his left eye as well. With Yuma, his Duel-Eye Tatoo appeared over his left eye.
"AR Vision – link established!" The computer voice stated as the AR Vision activated around them, followed by two holographic screens appearing that showed Rio and Cody images with their Life Points and Heart Piece system. "Duel!" Rio and Cody cried out at the exact same time, drawing their starting hand as they did so.

"You ready to rumble?! I'm first, I draw!" Cody cried out, drawing the top card of his deck in a dramatic fashion by throwing his hand out. "And I'm kicking things off by Summoning a Monster!" He exclaimed, throwing the card he drew onto one of his Monster Zones and getting down on his left knee, throwing the right hand out as he did so.
A Monster Card materialized in front of Cody over the edge and immediately began gleaming. A powerful bright light suddenly appeared underneath the mesh floors, right before an explosion of smoke erupted and blasted them all away. "Here comes Jumbo Drill!" Cody exclaimed as the monster was revealed to be a blue construction drill machine with two drills.
Jumbo Drill ATK: 1800/ Level: 4.
Cody wasn't done yet. "Next I activate the Charging Construction Spell card!" The young man declared, holding his Spell card out with his right hand. The Spell card began gleaming, while a larger version of it materialized in front of him over the now ruined mesh floors.
"Since I Summoned Jumbo Drill, Charging Construction lets me bust out another heavy hitter in DEF Mode from my hand!" Cody explained his Spell card's effect, taking another card from his hand as he did so. "Get ready to tremble before the cheer awesomeness of my mighty Road Roller!" He called out, throwing his right hand forward and revealing the Monster card to Rio.
A black portal with a dark silver tornado appeared on Cody's side, followed by another construction machine-like monster emerging from within it. The engines of the machine roared as Road Roller took its place besides Jumbo Drill.
Road Roller DEF: 2100/ Level: 4.
"And now I activate Jumbo Drill's special ability!" Cody declared, throwing his right hand out to the side. Jumbo Drill's engine let out a mighty roar as it held up both of its drill arms. "Since Road Roller is on sight, Jumbo Drill gains 300 ATK Points!" Cody explained Jumbo Drill's special ability, right as the Machine-Type monster powered up.
Jumbo Drill ATK: 1800 + 300 = 2100.
Rio gazed up at Cody's two monster with eyes full of curiosity. "Big and powerful. But that isn't going to matter because I'm gonna freeze those machines ice solid!" The Ice Queen said with confidence in her voice, looking at the five cards in her hand. "Be on guard though. Machine-Type Monsters are a bit dangerous, especially with a few certain cards". Enna told her partner, mind flashing back to famed Machine-Type combos with Spells, Traps and Monster effects.
Cody picked up another card from his hand and held it up. "I end my turn by throwing one card face-down!" Cody declared, inserting the card into his Duel Disk. A face-down card materialized in front of him, then quickly disappeared. "Bam! Now you're getting to see what my mighty machines are all about!" The Machine-Type Duelist said with pure confidence, holding up his right fist in pride.

Rio gave a small giggle at Cody's words. "We'll just see about that. I draw!" The Ice Queen called out, drawing her card in a dramatic way as well. She brought her new card to the hand of 5 cards, making it 6, and took a moment to look at them.
She had two monster cards, two Traps and two Spell cards as well. 'Interesting starting hand, but I can work with this'. Rio thought to herself, picking up one of her monster cards and held it up in between the right hand's index and middle fingers. "I'll start off by Summoning a monster of my own called Aurora Wing!" Rio called out, moving her hand through her Duel Disk's Monster Zones and placing Aurora Wing's card in one of them.
A large copy of Aurora Wing's card materialized in front of Rio over the edge, right before a mighty blizzard erupted out of it. Aurora Wing flew out of the blizzard and around the field before coming to a halt in front of Rio, letting out a fierce cry.
Aurora Wing ATK Points: 1200/ Level: 4.

Rio then threw her right hand out, holding another card in between the index and middle fingers. "Next up, I activate the Blizzard Jet Spell card!" The Ice Queen declared, pulling her right hand in and inserted it into her Duel Disk.
A copy of the Spell appeared right underneath Aurora Wing, right before it and the Winged Beast-Type Monster gained blue auras. "This card powers up a Winged Beast monster of mine by 1500 until the End Phase of this turn!" Rio explained Blizzard Jet's effect, much to Cody's surprise at hearing this. "Say what!?" He exclaimed in surprise, right before Aurora Wing powered up.
Aurora Wing ATK: 1200 + 1500 = 2700.
"2700 ATK Points... Rio's got the advantage of ATK Points now". Yuma commented with a small smile, watching this due carefully and with all of his attention. "Indeed, but the duel has just started. It's far too soon to be confident of Rio's victory". Astral said to his partner, turning his gaze over to Cody.

"Now go Aurora Wing! Send Jumbo Drill to the scrap heap!" Rio commanded, pointing directly at Jumbo Drill with her right hand's index finger. Aurora Wing let out a cry, before taking off into the sky. It flew around a little, before headed straight for Jumbo Drill.
Cody gazed up at the approaching bird, before letting out a smirk. "Sorry, but Jumbo Drill isn't going anywhere! I'm playing my Trap card; Foreman's Fury!" Cody declared, rearing his right hand back before throwing it forward. "When a Machine-Type Monster I control battles, this card reduces my opponent's Monster's Attack power by 1000 points!" The boy explained his Trap card's effect, resulting in Rio blinking in surprise at hearing this.
A stream of fire erupted out of Foreman's Fury's card and slammed into Aurora Wing's stomach, causing the Winged Beast Monster to cry out in pain and surprise as its power was reduced.
Auora Wing ATK: 2700 - 1000 = 1700.
"Terrific". Rio uttered with an annoyed frown at this turn of events. "Jumbo Drill, defeather that bird brain!" Cody exclaimed with a smirk, punching the air with his right fist.
Jumbo Drill's engine roared, its right arm drills burning hot red as they spun around. The Machine-Type monster swung its right drill arm forward and slammed it into Aurora Wing, blasting the Winged Beast away before it burst into yellow sparkles. (2100 - 1700 = 400.)
Rio Life Points: 4000 - 400 = 3600.
The shockwaves hit Rio and Enna, blowing both females' hair yet they didn't flinch. "Aurora Wing might be down..." The Ice Queen began, rearing her right arm in before throwing it out to the side. "But she's not out just yet! I activate her special ability! Once a turn if this card is destroyed by battle, she can come back in DEF Mode!" Rio explained Aurora Wing's special ability, right as the sparkles came back together and reformed Aurora Wing.
The Winged Beast-Type monster let out a cry, before flying down to in front of Rio and took a defensive position.

"I'll set a card face-down and end my turn!" Rio called out, taking a single card from her hand and inserted it into one of the Spell/Trap Zones. A face-down card appeared over the edge of Rio's side and quickly disappeared.

In a random part of Heartland City; Luna stood at the edge of a building looking off into the distance with a small frown. The Moon Duelist had her brown cloak on, but instead of wearing it in her usual style it was now like a cape. And a few feet behind was Orbital 8 looking at her mistress's back.
Like all the other participates in the World Duel Carnival, Luna has been dueling other duelists to collect Heart Pieces. She's so far had 2 mores duels after her duel with Emilia and won them without issue, collecting a total of 4 Heart Pieces so far and only needed one more. Orbital 8's been accompanying her mistress as she duels. She did offer assistance to help Luna find Duelists with specific Heart Pieces she needed, but the Moon Duelist declined.
A soft breeze came and blew Luna's hair, cloak and waist cape softly. "Mistress Luna, is something the matter? You've just won your fourth Heart Piece and even acquired a new Number card". Orbital 8 spoke up with a concerned voice, eye flashing for a brief moment.
Luna didn't give a reply and remained silent. She did tilt her head down just as she held up a single card with her right hand. It was an Xyz Monster called "Number 48: Shadow Lich". She had won this Number card from her last opponent, adding a new Number card to her collection.
The Moon Duelist opened her mouth and spoke. "True. I just need one more Heart Piece and I'll be on to the World Duel Carnival finals, but there's something else on my mind". Luna told her robot partner, tilting her head up to look at the sky above them with a small frown.
Orbital 8 extended its neck and tilted her head to the side. "What is it? Is it about the Kastle siblings?" She asked with a curious voice, wondering if Luna was thinking about her old friends once more.
"You could say "yes" and "no". I'm more curious about the lack of Number cards that have appeared". The Moon Duelist answered, folding both hands even keeping her new Number card in between the index and middle fingers. She had been keeping an eye out both in public view and in the systems through Orbital 8 for any duelists with Number cards.
But to her utter disappointment, there wasn't anyone that's used any Number cards. She had gotten lucky with her last opponent and managed to acquire Shadow Lich, but that's it. The first day and she's only collected 2 new Number cards.
"Ahhh, I see why you're worried. But Mistress, it's only the first day and the World Duel Carnival started not that long ago. Maybe y-you're worried over n-nothing". The female robot said in a reassuring voice, retracting her neck to the body once she finished speaking.
Luna's frown almost disappeared at her robot companion's words. 'Maybe she's right and I'm just overthinking things. But I just can't help that maybe we're starting to run out of wild Number cards to hunt'. The black and pink-haired teenage girl thought to herself, turning her gaze up to the sky above.
Her mind started counting the people that's collecting Numbers and those that have a few. 'Kite and I have collected over 10 Numbers each. I don't know how many exactly Rio has, or that Yuma kid that Kite faced. Shark has 3 Numbers and that one that 100 too. Nistro has a Number card as well. That should be maybe around 40 or 50 Number cards in possession. In other words, that's half the total that's been found'. Luna said inside her mind, before she grit her teeth.
"I need more Number cards. Without them, Hart won't be cured". Luna said to herself. determined to collect as many Numbers as possible before there wasn't anymore to hunt. She tilted her head down to the city below, then blinked upon noticing something on the road.
Driving down and passing through some cars was Shark on his motorcycle with his helmet on. The Moon Duelist couldn't fully see her childhood friend from the angle she's in, but could see the right side of Shark's face, despite the goggles covering his eyes.
Just as quickly as she noticed him, Shark disappeared from her eyesight and drove off. Luna's face turned soft with her cheeks turning a bit red. "...Reginald..." She uttered with a voice full of longing and affection. Despite all that's happened, her feelings for Shark have remained strong and it will stay that way for eternality.

The WATER Duelist drove his motorcycle without fear, passing through many cars. So far, he's only participated in a single duel and won just one Heart Piece. Shark's goal in this tournament was still to find Quattro and make him pay for everything he's done to him and Rio. To him, that meant everything and the tournament was nothing in comparison.
Shark grit his teeth in both anger and annoyance. After he finished with that duel before, Shark immediately went out to search for clues on Quattro's whereabouts. He's searched without rest, yet still couldn't find him. "Damn you Quattro...! Where the Hell are you!?" Shark growled out through his teeth, his rage boiling to the point of exploding.
Shark forced himself to calm down and let out a deep breath. 'Keep your head cool, Shark. You can't afford to lose control of yourself, especially in front of Rio'. He thought to himself, slowing his motorcycle's speed a little. 'The day's still young, you've got plenty of time to find him. I just hope Quattro doesn't find out that Rio's awake and back on her feet'. The WATER Duelist added, giving a small gulp at the thought of Quattro finding out about his sister.
He hasn't heard from Rio since they separated this morning, so Shark hopes that means Quattro hasn't found out about her just yet. If he did, Shark highly doubted Quattro would just let it slide and go after Rio again. 'Rio's got her own Number cards now and even an alien partner with her. So if things do go downside, hopefully things won't ended as badly as that night'. Shark thought to himself, mind thinking about Rio's powerful Xyz Monsters and partner.
Shark suddenly narrowed his eyes dangerously without warning. 'I can't believe I'm actually thinking this, but I am. Yuma, stay with my sister as long as possible. Make sure she doesn't find out about Quattro and just enjoys the tournament. And Kairi, just stay at home and don't come out until late afternoon'. Shark thought to himself, counting on Rio's boyfriend to keep her out of trouble and that his "niece" stays safe.

Cody had an amused expression as he pointed at Aurora Wing with his right hand's index finger. "Do you seriously think you can defend against the power of my heavy hitters?" He questioned in amusement, before turning his right hand into a fist and smirked with confidence.
"Let's find out! I draw!" Cody cried out, drawing in a dramatic way by throwing his right hand out to the side. "I'm Summoning Strong Shovel Excavator to join me on the job site!" He declared, placing the card he drew onto a Monster Zone and took the same pose he did when he first Summoned Jumbo Drill.
A Monster card materialized on the field in front of Cody, then began gleaming. Another construction machine-like monster erupted out of the ruined mesh floors, its engine roaring and full of power.
Strong Shovel Excavator ATK: 1800/ Level: 3.
"Now that Strong Shovel Excavator has dug in, Jumbo Drill gains another 300 ATK Points". Cody informed Rio, right as Jumbo Drill powered up with a bright orange aura around itself.
Jumbo Drill ATK: 2100 + 300 = 2400.
"Now Jumbo Drill, take out that bird one more time!" Cody commanded, holding his right hand out towards Aurora Wing. Jumbo Drill's drills went off as it thrust both of its drill arms at Aurora Wing with the intention to destroy it just like before.
"And Jumbo Drill's got a special ability! When your bird is in DEF Mode, and Jumbo's ATK are greater than your bird's defense points, the difference is dealt to you as damage!" Cody explained Jumbo Drill's special ability, causing Enna to slightly frown from hearing that. 'A piercing damage effect!' The silver-haired woman thought to herself, then looked at Rio.
The Ice Queen looked at her hand for a moment, then her D-pad's screen yet didn't do anything. Jumbo Drill completely crushed Aurora Wing with both its drill arms, causing the Winged Beast-Type Monster to burst into sparkles with a shockwave released. The shockwaves hit Rio and made her almost flinch, yet she remained strong. (2400 - 1600 = 800.)
Rio Life Points: 3600 - 800 = 2800.
Cody placed his right hand against the hip and laughed in triumph at seeing the tide go his way. "Hahaha!" He laughed in joy, before stopping and gazed right at Rio. A holographic screen appeared right above the Ice Queen, displaying Cody's face. "You see that? That's what my machines are all about. Just tearing down absolutely anything that's dense enough to stand in their way!" The Machine-Type Duelist called out proudly.
Rio grew a grin at Cody's words. "Oh yeah? Well, my bird isn't down for the count just yet! Aurora Wing revives once more through its effect!" The Ice Queen called out, throwing her right hand into the air.
The sparkles that were once Aurora Wing came back together and reformed the WATER Attribute Monster. The Winged Beast-Type monster let out a cry, before flying down to in front of Rio and took a defensive position once more.

Cody grit his teeth at seeing this, but Rio wasn't finished just yet. "And don't forget about your Jumbo Drill's special ability!" She cried out, pointing directly at the Machine-Type Monster with her right hand's index finger. "Since it battled, it will be changed to DEF Mode at the end of the Battle Phase and won't be able to change battle positions!" The Ice Queen informed Cody, much to his comical surprise at hearing this.
"Huh!? Say what?!" He cried out with wide eyes, before holding his Duel Disk in front of him and gazed at Jumbo Drill's card. 'Aw crap, she's right! Goddammit!' Cody cursed inside of his head, mentally kicking himself for leaving his current strongest monster in position to get easily destroyed.
Astral noticed Cody's expression of panic and raised an eyebrow at seeing. "It looks like your new friend had forgotten about that part of his monster's effect". The Astral World male remarked, honestly a bit amused with Cody's rather childish slip up. "Now he can't go on the attack for a good two turns with that monster". Yuma said with a small grin, seeing this as a chance for Rio to go on the attack.
Cody grunted, then let out a loud cry. "Aww, damn it! I've still got the lead in this!" The young boy cried out, before rearing his right fist back and then punched the air with it. "Strong Shovel Excavator, take out that bird once and for all!" He commanded his second monster, deciding to continue the attacks to get rid of Aurora Wing.
Strong Shovel Excavator took off into a charge, headed straight for Aurora Wing with the intention to destroy. But unlike before, Rio had no intention of allowing that to happened. "Think again, Cody!" Rio exclaimed, taking a single card from her hand, leaving two remaining.
Rio flipped the card over and held it out, revealing the card to be Blizzard Crow. "When a WATER Attribute monster I control is about to get attacked, I discard my Blizzard Crow to activate its effect!" The Ice Queen explained, discarding the card to her Graveyard Zone.
"And in exchange, your attack is negated, and you take damage equal to half of your monster's ATK Points!" Rio finished explaining with a grin, much to Cody's comical surprise at hearing this. "You kidding, right?!" The young boy cried out, a black portal appearing in front of Rio over the edge.
A large copy of Blizzard Qrow's card appeared above the black portal, before bursting into yellow sparkles that went inside of it. "Well, I hope you're ready for the punchline!" Rio replied, right before a blizzard storm erupted out of the black portal. It slammed right into Strong Shovel Excavator, stopping it in its tracks with the machine starting to get a little frozen in ice.
"Your Strong Shovel Excavator has 1800 ATK Points, so that's 900 points you're losing!" Rio calculated the damage, a little bit of the blizzard passing the Machine-Type Monster and blowing right into Cody. The young boy shivered from the ice cold winds, hugging himself to provide some warmth.
Cody Life Points: 4000 - 900 = 3100.
Lucky for him though, the ice winds quickly died down and he sighed in relief. "Ahhh, nuts and bolts!" He grumbled, then stared at Rio with a curious face. "Hey, why didn't you use that when I attacked with Jumbo Drill?" Cody questioned his opponent, wondering why she didn't use Blizzard Qrow's effect earlier.
"Sometimes you need to take a hit, to deal a bigger one yourself. Now your Jumbo Drill can't switch Battle Positions until the end of your next turn". Rio answered, much to Cody's annoyance at hearing this. "Well, ya got me this time. But next turn, you're gonna get it. I end my turn!" Cody declared, throwing his right hand out to the side.

"I draw!" Rio called out, taking hold of the top card of her deck before drawing it. She brought her card up to see what she got and grew a pleased grin. "Now we're talking!" The Ice Queen exclaimed in delight, getting Cody to raise an eyebrow at her.
Rio swiped her right hand out, all the while keeping hold of the card she drew. "To start this off, I sacrifice Aurora Wing...!" She declared, the Winged Beast-Type monster letting loose a cry right before it began gleaming a bright white light. Aurora Wing burst into pure white sparks, before they started coming together.
"In order to Advance Summon! Take flight, Blizzardpulsar Dragon!" Rio called out, throwing her right hand pass the Monster Zones of her Duel Disk and placed the card in one of the zones. The white sparks came together to form a shape, right before it gleamed brightly like the sun.
The light quickly died down to reveal Rio's new Monster; Blizzardpulsar Dragon. It bears a very strong resemblance to Lightpulsar Dragon with a few differences. Its eyes were an emerald green, it had snow white skin and icy blue armor around its body. And on its chest was a hole with icy blue energy coming out. Finally; it had a feminine body structure, a sign that it was female.
Blizzardpulsar Dragon's eyes gleam a brief moment, before it spread its wings out fully and roared, creating a mini blizzard wind from its wings.

"Uh oh!?" Cody cried out in alarm, staring up at Blizzardpulsar Dragon with wide eyes. "You're right about that, trouble's heading your way with a capital T!" Rio exclaimed with a bright grin, turning her gaze down to the 2 remaining cards she's holding and picked up one of them.
The Ice Queen flipped the card over with her right hand's index and middle fingers, then held it out. "Next I equip Blizzardpulsar Dragon with the Equip Spell, Cold Excalibur!" Rio declared, inserting the card into her Duel Disk once she finished speaking.
A blue flash appeared in front of Blizzardpulsar Dragon with its light quickly dying to reveal the Cold Excalibur blade. The Dragon-Type monster took the blade with both its hands, followed by a blue aura appearing over her.
Blizzardpulsar Dragon ATK: 2400 + 500 = 2900.
'Talk about ironic. A dragon using a sword that's normally used by knights to slay it is using one now'. Yuma thought to himself with a small chuckle at the twist of fate. Even Astral himself gave a small grin at the sight.
"Cold Excalibur can only be equipped to a WATER Attribute Monster. It gives the equipped monster 500 extra ATK Points and if it destroys an opponent's monster by battle, deals 200 points of damage equal the destroyed monster's Level/Rank". Enna explained Cold Excalibur's effect on behalf of her partner, while Rio gave a small grin.
Cody looked at his D-pad's screen to look at Cold Excalibur's card, only to widen both eyes in alarm at seeing its effect. "Aww, crap!" The young boy cried out in alarm, mentally wishing he had set up a defense earlier on his turn.
"Blizzardpulsar Dragon, slice and dice Strong Shovel Excavator!" Rio commanded, holding her open right hand out to the Machine-Type Monster. Blizzardpulsar Dragon let out a fierce roar, spread its wings and ascended. The Dragon-Type Monster flipped over, then dived down towards Strong Shovel Excavator with Cold Excalibur out.

The Dragon-Type monster sliced through Strong Shovel Excavator like it was an onion, flying away once done. The Machine-Type Monster slowly split into 3 pieces, before they all burst into yellow sparkles with a shockwave hitting Cody, forcing the young boy to take 2 steps back. (2900 - 1800 = 1100)
Cody Life Points: 3100 - 1100 = 2000.
Jumbo Drill ATK: 2400 - 300 = 2100.
"I'm not done yet! Cold Excalibur's effect now activates!" Rio declared, rearing her right hand in before throwing it out dramatically. "Your Strong Shovel Excavator was Level 4! That means you take 800 more points of damage!" The Ice Queen informed Cody, before gazing up above.
Blizzardpulsar Dragon was above the field, gazing down at Cody with a cold gaze. The dragon snarled as it reared its wings back, then flapped them, releasing a powerful gust of wind that hit Cody straight on. The force pushed Cody off his feet and sent him crashing on his back 3 feet back.
Cody Life Points: 2000 - 800 = 1200.
Rio cracked a grin, taking the last card in her hand and inserted it into her Duel Disk. "I end my turn with this card, face-down!" Rio declared, a face-down card appeared in front of her before quickly disappearing.

Rio looked at her D-Pad's screen of the field, right at her two face-down cards. 'My first face-down card is Mirror Force. If he attacks, I'll use it now. And my second face-down, Frozen Defense Draw, will protect me from any damage if inflicts through an attack. I'd say this is a good field I've got'. Rio thought to herself, giving a small nod of approval at the field she's set up.
She turned her gaze to Cody's down form and spoke. "Your deck is powerful, that's for certain. But a duel isn't decided just by power alone, it's more than that". The Ice Queen told her opponent, words that caught Enna's attention. "That's true. A Monster's strength is important, but that isn't the most important thing in a duel. It's also about strategy, anticipation, faith and so much more. Relying just on brute force won't bring you victory". The silver-haired woman said with a growing smile, seeing the wisdom in Rio's words.
Yuma and Astral both smiled as they completely agreed with the girls. Cody, on the other hand, wasn't in agreement to what Rio said. "What was that?" The young boy questioned, climbing back onto his feet and frowned at Rio. "How can you win without power?! The one with more power wins!" Cody shouted out, holding up his right arm and clenched the fist.
Rio, Yuma, Astral and Enna all blinked at Cody, wondering why he was acting like that from Rio's words. "What on Earth are you talking about?" The Ice Queen questioned her opponent, wondering why he was so upset with what she said.
Cody fell silent for a moment, but spoke after a second or two. "When I was still in Elementary School, everyone in class mocked me because I was such a wimp back then". Cody began to explain, mind flashing back to his time in Elementary School and how he was often bullied by others.
"Dammit, gimme a break here. Even if I got more power... It was then I discovered the Construction Equipment. Then I realized, no one will dare to bully me, with the Construction Equipment's power". Cody explained, growing a smirk upon remembering that day he decided to use the power of Construction Equipment.
Throwing his right arm out to the side, Cody continued speaking. "I'm gonna use the Construction Equipment Monsters to win the Duel Carnival!" The young man added, smirking with pure confidence and holding up his right fist to express his excitement.
Rio stared at Cody in silence for a few moments, before she gave a small smile at him. "I see. Then show me your full strength then, Cody. The strength of you and your Construction Equipment!" The Ice Queen called out, lifting her right hand up and gave the hand sign "bring it" to her opponent.
Cody smirked at Rio and her hand gesture, rearing his right hand back. "It'll be my pleasure! It's my turn! Draw!" He roared out, drawing the top card of his deck. He took a mere moment to look at the card, before holding it up in front of his forehead by the right hand's index and middle fingers.
"To kick things off, I'm activating the Scrap and Build Spell card!" Cody declared with a smirk, the card starting to gleam a light right before he inserted it into his Duel Disk. A larger copy of the Spell appeared in front of Cody over the edge, before a bright pillar of light erupted out of it.
"Scrap and Build gives me the "go ahead" to Summon a low Level Machine-Type Monster straight from my Graveyard!" Cody explained the Spell card's effect, before throwing his right hand out. Strong Shovel's gonna pull a double shift!" He added, right as a black portal appeared on his side of the field and Strong Shovel Excavator began to rise up from within it.
"Oh, and, uh, when this card is Summoned from the Graveyard, it gains a Level". Cody informed Rio right as Strong Shovel Excavator fully raised up from the black portal.
Strong Shovel Excavator ATK: 1800/ Level: 3 + 1 = 4.
Jumbo Drill ATK: 2100 + 300 = 2400.
"Next up I'm activating another Spell card; Overhaul!" Cody exclaimed, holding up another card into the air before inserting it into his Duel Disk and throwing the right hand out. A copy of the Spell materialized, then began gleaming brightly.
Cody threw his right hand forward with the thumb, index and middle fingers out and spoke. "Overhaul increases the Level of all Machine-Type Monsters on my field by one!" Cody explained the Spell card's effect, much to the surprise of Rio at hearing this. The engines of all three of Cody's Machine-Type Monsters roared as they powered up.
Strong Shovel Excavator Level: 4 + 1 = 5.
Jumbow Drill Level: 4 + 1 = 5.
Road Roller Level: 4 + 1 = 5.
"Now he's got 3 Level 5 Monsters". Rio uttered to himself, mentally bracing herself for what's coming. "Now see this ultra-gigantic power!" Cody exclaimed with an excited and dangerous smirk on his face.
"Prepare yourself, Rio!" Enna told her partner, growing a small frown directed at Cody. An Xyz Monster that required 3 Level 5 Monsters was certain to be powerful, in ATK, DEF power and in special abilities. Rio lightly grit her teeth, then gave a short nod of the head.

Cody threw his right hand into the air and cried out with spirit. "I overlay Jumbo Drill, Road Roller and Strong Shovel Excavator!" The young man declared, all three Machine-Type Monsters transforming into bright brownish orange lights with them all ascending into the sky.
The three lights danced into the air, while an red Xyz portal appeared in front of Cody with him holding his right hand up. "I construct the Overlay Network with these three Monsters! Xyz Summon!" Cody cried out as the three lights flew down into the Xyz portal, followed by an explosion of energy erupting out of it.
"The mecha arm which can destroy rocks! Come forth, my Xyz Monster!" The young boy chanted, spinning around dramatically before holding an Xyz Monster card out with his right hand. The card gleamed, right before a monster erupted from the mesh floors.
It was a giant black construction machine unlike anything Rio has ever seen before, three yellow overlay units circling around the Xyz Monster. "Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry!" Cody called out, revealing the name of this mighty Xyz Monster.

Rio stared up at the Machine-Type Xyz Monster with wide owlish eyes, before blinking. "That's... very big". The Ice Queen slowly said, honestly a bit intimidated right now by Digvorzhak's size. "Not to mention, a lot of ATK Points. 3200 Points..." Rio added, slowly narrowing her eyes and prepared herself. "Yup! And Digvorzhak is gonna use them to finish you!" Cody exclaimed with a wild smirk on his face.
Yuma and Astral stared up at Cody's Xyz Monster. The 13-year-old boy stared in amazement, while Astral was fascinated upon noticing that the Xyz Monster had the same little parts that all these construction works have as well.
"When you absolutely have to demolish something, accept no substitutes!" Cody remarked, much to Rio's concern because she could understand that was big trouble for her. "This Monster must have a powerful effect if it required 3 Level 5 Monsters. Rio, prepare yourself". Enna told her partner, turning to look at Rio once she finished speaking. The Ice Queen gave a nod without turning to look at Enna, eyes clued on the Xyz Machine-Type Monster.
"First, I activate Digvorzhak's special ability!" Cody declared, pointing with his right hand's index finger directed at the Ice Queen. "By using one Overlay Unit, Digvorzhak can knock three cards out of ya deck and haul them to the Graveyard!" He explained the Machine-Type Xyz Monster's effect, Digvorzhak absorbing one of its overlay units with its right crane arm.

Digvorzhak's massive mechanical rotating wheels began burning a bright red colour, as if it were burning. Rio gazed directly at her deck just in time to see the top three cards start gleaming a bright yellow light, followed by them flying out.
"Well, that's just great". The Ice Queen said with a sarcastic voice, watching the three flying cards slowly float down towards a black portal that appeared below. "Now, for every Monster card tossed into the Graveyard, a monster on your field is destroyed!" Cody further explained Digvorzhak's ability, holding his right hand out to Rio as he spoke.
Rio's eyes went wide in alarm, right before 3 see-through cards appeared in front of her and Enna. The two partners looked and saw that there were two monster cards and 1 Trap card. "Two Monsters were discarded, so that allows you to destroy two of mine. But I only have one monster". Rio spoke, tilting her head up to gaze towards Blizzardpulsar Dragon.
"Shame that you only got one for me to destroy, but no big deal. Take this! Full-Horsepower Crusher!" Cody shouted out, throwing his right hand out as if he was pushing something forward. Digvorzhak's engine roared, followed by its rotating wheels beginning to spin.
The Machine-Type Xyz Monster charged forward to Blizzardpulsar Dragon. The Dragon-Type monster closed her wings around herself as a shield, but was immediately destroyed upon coming into contact with Digvorzhak's wheels.
Yuma had wide eyes at what he just witnessed. "Wow... That thing's got some serious power to take out Blizzardpulsar Dragon like that". The 13-year-old boy remarked, mentally wondering how he'd do against Cody and his deck with one of his own decks. "Rio isn't defeated yet. She still has two face-down cards on her field". Astral spoke, looking over to Rio's field right at her two invisible face-down cards.
"When Blizzardpulsar Dragon is sent from the field to the Graveyard, I can add two WATER Monsters from my Graveyard to my hand. I'll add my dragon and Aurora Wing back". Rio informed her opponent, first adding Aurora Wing's card to her hand. She then took Blizzardpulsar Dragon's card and looked at it.
"Well, A for effort Blizzardpulsar". Rio said to herself, adding the card to her hand before looking at her D-pad's screen and saw it displaying the dueling field. 'I still have my Trap cards. If Cody attacks, I'll be ready for him'. She thought to herself, keeping calm since not everything was settled just yet.
"If you think those little face-down cards of yours are gonna help, think again!" Cody exclaimed with a wide smirk, catching Rio's full attention at what he said. The young boy took the last card in his hand and held it out, revealing it to be the Spell card; Harpie's Feather Duster.
"Get a load of this nasty weather! Harpie's Feather Duster! Ha!" Cody cried out, inserting the card into his Duel Disk. A large copy of the Spell card materialized in front of Cody, right before a tornado erupted out of it. "This Spell card destroys all your Spells and Traps!" The Machine-Type Duelist explained, much to Rio's annoyance as she grit her teeth.
The tornado spun around in the air, before it split into two and headed straight for Rio. Rio's two face-down cards reappeared on her field, right before both tornados came down hard on them, resulting in the two cards bursting into sparkles.
Rio closed both eyes and let out a disappointed sigh. "That's another time that Mirror Force got destroyed before I got to play it. Maybe I should take it out of my deck and replace it". The Ice Queen said to herself, opening both eyes once she finished speaking and looked right at Cody's Xyz Monster. "That is IF you survive this". Enna remarked, taking a moment to look at Rio.
"Alright Digvorzhak! It's full throttle time!" Cody declared, a confident smirk married to his face. The Machine-Type Xyz Monster's horn started going off loudly as it prepared to attack, something that forced Rio and Yuma to place their hands over their ears to block out the sound. "Geez, this is another reason why I can't stand these things! They're too loud, my ears hurt!" The Ice Queen yelled out in annoyance, mentally wishing she had something to block out the sound.
"More power!" Cody cried out to Digvorzhak, then threw his right hand out to the side. "Rev that engine and give it everything you got, Digvorzhak! I'm taking maximum overdrive, baby!" He added, being a bit dramatic right now since he'll win if this attack hits.

Digvorzhak started taking off to Rio with the intention to end this duel. Enna lightly frowned at the Xyz Monster, before she turned to her partner. "Rio, now's a perfect to do something". The silver-haired woman told Rio, earning a nod of agreement from her. "I know, I'm on it!" Rio replied to Enna, lowering both hands before throwing the right one out.
"I activate an ability from the Graveyard!" Rio declared, much to Cody's surprise at hearing this. A card slotted out of Rio's Graveyard Zone of her Duel Disk, and she picked it up with her right hand's index and middle fingers. She held it up, revealing it to be a Monster card with the card's image showing a small puppy dog with snow white fur, a light blue underbelly and light green eyes.
"Do your thing, Blizzard Rescue Pup!" The Ice Queen exclaimed, throwing the card down on one of her Monster Zones dramatically.

A black portal appeared in front of Rio, followed by a blizzard storm erupting out of it. Blizzard Rescue Pup leaped out of the portal into the air, giving a determined "ruff" at the massive Xyz Monster before it.

"When a monster of yours declares a direct attack, my puppy can come out from either my hand or Graveyard and take the hit for me! And he's indestructible for this battle! And after the damage step, the Battle Phase ends!" Rio explained Blizzard Rescue Pup's special ability, much to Cody's annoyance at hearing this.
"Well, fine then! I can still take a chunk out of your Life Points! Go, Digvorzhak! Ultimate Bucket Wheel!" Cody shouted out, throwing his right hand out to the side dramatically. Digvorzhak's flashlights lit up and locked on Blizzard Rescue Pup. Its wheels began spinning once more, before it charged to the Beast-Type Monster.
The blizzard storm gathered around Blizzard Rescue Pup, forming a barrier around it. Digvorzhak lifted its right wheel with it burning hot red once more, before dropping it. Digvorshak's burning rotating wheel slammed into the blizzard barrier, creating a powerful shockwave from the impact. It hit Rio straight on and pushed her back by 5 feet, yet she remained on her feet. (3200 - 500 = 2700)
Rio Life Points: 2800 - 2700 = 100.
Digvorzhak pulled back and returned to Cody's field after its attack was done. The blizzard barrier around Rescue Pup disappeared to reveal the Beast-Type Monster unharmed completely, even growling at the Machine-Type Xyz Monster.
"That was a close one. Rio was really lucky that puppy was in her Graveyard or else she'd be toast". Yuma commented with a small shiver, mentally thankful he wasn't in Digvorzhak's line of sight. "Blizzard Rescue Pup must have been one of the cards sent to the Graveyard by that Xyz Monster's effect. It seemed luck hasn't abandoned her yet either". Astral said with a small impressed grin.
"Fear my superior power! I end my turn!" Cody declared with a massive grin, right hand on the hip before lifting it up and threw it to the side.
Rio Life Points: 100/ Number of cards in hand: 2.
"The tables for this duel have truly turned. Now you're the one with fewer Life Points, less cards on the field and only two cards in hand". Enna spoke, directing her gaze to Rio's empty left hand first before looking over to Blizzard Rescue Pup in front of them.
Rio slightly narrowed her eyes as she looked at her hand. She suddenly grew a grin, shifting both eyes to the Graveyard Zone of her Duel Disk. "That's true, but my Graveyard still has a few cards to use". The Ice Queen said with a confident grin. There were a few cards in her Graveyard that she could still use, so she wasn't out of options just yet.
Enna turned to her partner and gave a small smile from Rio's words. She opened her mouth to speak, but Digvorzhak's horn went off and completely drowned out Enna's voice, much to Rio's annoyance. "Another reason why I don't like construction machines is because they drown out all other noises, even people's voices!" The Ice Queen exclaimed in irritation, slamming both hands over her ears.
'I can see why you dislike these machines so much. It is hard to focus with all the noise they make'. A familiar voice said to Rio inside of her mind, much to the Ice Queen's surprise. She turned to Enna with a confused face and saw the silver-haired woman smiling at her. "Are you... something talking to me through telepathy?" Rio asked Enna with a voice that's a mix of confusion and awe. Enna's never done this before, so Rio's a bit amazed that she can do something like this.
Enna gave a small nod of the head as an answer to Rio's question. 'I learned this from Astral, in case we ever needed to communicate with you and Yuma without speaking. We're able to talk to you two through your hearts, but we can talk about that later'. The silver-haired woman told Rio, turning to look at the construction work all around them.
'Astral has been observing various things inside this "construction site". And has realized that even the highest man-made buildings were assembled by various small things'. Enna explained to the Ice Queen, resulting in Rio raising an eyebrow at the older woman. She turned her gaze to Cody's Xyz Monster and stared at it with a frown.
'Are you telling me to go for its weak spots?' The Ice Queen questioned her partner, which Enna gave a short nod of the head. 'Yes. Go for the hexagonal parts, like that one at your feet'. Enna answered, both her and Rio glancing down to the floor where a hexagon part laid right beside Rio's left foot.
'You want me to go for the nuts that connects Digvorzhak's parts together?' Rio questioned Enna once more, lifting her head to gaze right at Cody's Xyz Monster once more. 'Yes. Although they may be small, they're the most important part that connects all Digvorzhak's parts. This "construction" work is much like Dueling'. The silver-haired woman explained to Rio further, gently getting down on her knees and picked up the bolt with the right hand.
Rio grew an eager smile after listening to Enna's words. "I see. Honestly a bit brutal to go for a weak spot, but it works for me. And I have just the monster for this". The Ice Queen said with an eager voice, growing eager to start both her turn and comeback.
"What's wrong, Rio? Feeling helpless against my super power, my Digvorzhak?!" Cody questioned with a massive grin, spirits high with the circumstances right now. "In your dreams!" Rio shot back at the young boy, placing her right hand's fingers on the top card of her deck. "Time to feel the flow! I draw!" The Ice Queen cried out, drawing the card and throwing her hand up into the air dramatically.

Rio brought the card up to look at it, only to blink in surprise at what she saw. "This is..." She uttered to herself with wide eyes, before growing a massive excited grin. "Oh, I'm gonna enjoy using this for the first time". Rio said with an eager voice. She pressed the card down against her palm, before pointing forward with the right hand's index finger.
"I activate the special ability of Freezing Mother Bird from my Graveyard!" Rio declared, causing Cody to widen both eyes in surprise. A black portal appeared in front of Rio over the edge, followed by Freezing Mother Bird appearing right above it.
"Hold on a second!? How'd the card end up in your Graveyard?!" Cody questioned Rio, no clue whatsoever how that card ended up in her Graveyard. "It's thanks to your Digvorzhak. Mother Bird was one of the cards send to the Graveyard by its ability". The Ice Queen answered, much to Cody's annoyance at hearing this. 'She's using the cards that I used for Digvorzhak's ability?!' He mentally screamed in frustration.
Freezing Mother Bird began to slowly float down into the black portal. "By banishing this card from my Graveyard..." Rio began to explain, Freezing Mother Bird suddenly turning into blue sparkles that were absorbed into the portal. "I can Special Summon a Winged Beast Monster from my Graveyard!" The Ice Queen finished explaining, gazing straight at her Duel Disk's Graveyard Zone.
A card slotted out, waiting for Rio to pick it up. She put the card she's holding in her left hand, before picking up the other one. Rio held it up, revealing it to be Blizzard Qrow. "Fly back in, Blizzard Crow!" Rio called out, the card beginning to gleam a bright golden light.
Blizzard Qrow flew out of the black portal into the air. It spread both wings out fully and let out a cry.
Blizzard Qrow ATK Points: 1700/ Level: 4.
Rio looked at the three cards in hand, growing an eager smile as she did so. "Now... check this out!" She called out, taking the card with her right hand's index and middle fingers before holding it out. It was a Spell card with the card's image showing Frozen Child Justice and Blizzard Fairy standing back to back to each other with 6 light blue coloured gleaming stars surrounding them.
(Frozenpickup/ Type: Continues Spell/ Effect: When this card is activated, add one "Blizzard" card from your deck to your hand. You can target one "Blizzard" or WATER attribute monster you control; all monsters you currently control become that monster's Level until the end of this turn (even if this card leaves the field). Rio's deck began shuffling while she explained the effect of Frozenpickup. "When this card is activated, I'm allowed to add a "Blizzard" card from my deck to my hand!" Rio explained, tilting her gaze down to look at the deck right as it stopped shuffling. A single card slotted out and she picked it up with her right hand's index and middle fingers.
She held it up, allowing Cody to see what it was. "I add Blizzard Fairy!" Rio declared, before adding the card to her left hand. The Ice Queen then threw her right hand forward with the index finger out. "Next up, I activate Frozenpickup's other effect!" She declared, looking at Blizzard Rescue Pup.
"I'm allowed to pick one "Blizzard" or WATER attribute monster I control, and all other monsters I pick become the same Level as that monster!" Rio explained, moving her hand over and pointed directly at the Beast-Type Monster. "I choose Blizzard Rescue Pup! Now Blizzard Qrow becomes a Level 1!" The Ice Queen declared, both of her monsters and the Spell card gleaming a beautiful blue light once she finished speaking.
Blizzard Qrow Level: 4 - 3 = 1.
Astral slightly frowned from watching Rio's move. "Now she has two Level 1 Monsters". He remarked, a good idea on what move Rio was about to make next. And he was proven correct as the Ice Queen threw her right hand up into the air.
"Now, I overlay the Level 1 Blizzard Rescue Pup and Level 1 Blizzard Qrow!" Rio cried out, a hint of excitement leaking out of her voice. Both WATER monsters transformed into bright blue lights that shot up into the air and danced around each other.
A red Xyz portal appeared in front of Rio and Enna over the edge, releasing a gust of wind that blew their hair gently. "With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network! Xyz Summon!" The Ice Queen exclaimed, both blue lights descending into the Xyz portal and disappeared from sight.
"Appear! Rank 1! Ice Beast Aspen!" Rio shouted out to the heavens, throwing the right hand out with a glowing card held with her thumb, index and middle fingers. A new monster flew out of the Xyz portal into the air, revealing itself.
It was a Cebu flowerpecker bird with a blue coat stain, icy green feathers and tail with a white underbelly. Aspen has crystal blue eyes with a rather long beak. It also had three fingered blue talons.
Ice Beast Aspen let out a gently cry as it flew around a bit, two blue coloured overlay units circling around it, until it stopped in front of Rio and faced Cody's Xyz Monster.

Cody started laughing at the sight of Rio's Xyz Monster. "Hahahaha! You really think that little birdy can take on my Digvorzhak!? You've gotta be kidding me!" The young male laughed out, even throwing his head back as he did so.
Rio merely chuckled with a sly grin at Cody's words. "Keep laughing, it'll just make it that much sweeter in the new few seconds. Right, Aspen?" The teenage girl asked, looking over to the Winged Beast-Type Duelist. The Cebu flowerpecker looked over to its duelist and gave an affectionate "chirp" in response, earning a smile from Rio.
The Ice Queen directed her gaze to Cody's Machine-Type Xyz Monster, before pointing at it with the right hand's index finger. "Aspen, activate your special ability!" Rio commanded the WATER Xyz Monster, receiving a cry of response from Aspen. The Winged Beast-Type Monster pecked one of its overlay units, resulting in it bursting in a shower of blue sparkles.
Ice Beast Aspen Overlay Units: 2 - 1 = 1.
"By using one overlay unit, Ice Beast Aspen can take away all the overlay units of your Digvorzhak!" Rio explained Aspen's effect, much to Cody's surprise at hearing this. "Say what?!" He cried out, right before Ice Beast Aspen shot out like a bullet and pecked Digvorzhak's overlay units one by one.

"You took Digvorzhak's overlay units!?" Cody exclaimed with wide eyes, before he blinked and gave a smirk at Rio. "Well, whatever. Not like that's gonna matter". The young boy added, yet that just got an amused chuckle from Rio. "Say that after taking a look at your monster". She replied, much to Cody's confusion at what she said.
He still looked at Digvorzhak and blinked at what he saw. Ice Beast Aspen was flying all around the Machine-Type's body, fast as a flash, pecking it all over the place. He didn't know that the Winged Beast Monster was specifically pecking the spots where the nuts where connected its separate parts.
After a good 10 seconds, the Winged Beast-Type Monster flew away and returned to Rio's side of the field. Cody stared with a confused frown for 5 seconds, before he started laughing in amusement. "What do you think is gonna happen from your bird peaking Digvorzhak? Nothing, that's what!" The young male called out, throwing his right hand out to the side.
Cody's smirk quickly fell however when the bolts all over Digvorzhak's unscrewed themselves and detached. Followed by the whole machine beginning to fall apart completely, resulting in Cody gasping in horror. "Hey!? What's wrong Digvorzhak?!" Cody called out in horror, no clue what's happening to his ace monster right now.
"The last part of my birdy's special ability, that's what! For every overlay unit that was detached, your Xyz Monster's ATK and DEF Points are halved!" Rio revealed with a massive smirk on her face, resulting in Cody paling horribly at hearing this. "Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry had 2 overlay units that were detached. Therefore, its points will be halved two times". Enna spoke with a small smile, gazing directly up at the Machine-Type Monster as it continued to fall apart.
Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry ATK: 3200 - 1600 = 1600 - 800 = 800/ DEF: 2000 - 1000 = 1000 - 500 = 500.
"Talk about "look like a butterfly, sting like a bee". That bird looks harmless, but is dangerous for Xyz Monsters". Yuma commented with a wince, mentally glad that Rio hasn't used that Xyz Monster against him. "Indeed. Ice Beast Aspen is a dangerous monster against Xyz Monsters". Astral said in agreement, giving a short nod of the head.

"Looks like your monster's power ended up backfiring on you, Cody". Rio said with a confident grin, while Cody had a stupefied face at what his ace monster had been reduced to. "But how could some weak Monster..." He said with disbelief leaking out of his voice. Cody shook his head sideways, then gave an uneasy smile.
"I-it's fine though. Your birdy isn't strong enough to destroy Digvorzhak and that monster you added isn't strong enough. There's no way you'll win this turn". The Machine-Type said with an uneasy voice, although it was more like he was saying that to himself.
Rio just gave another chuckle at Cody. "Think again. I still have one other move left to make". The Ice Queen stated, taking a single card from her hand and held it out. "I Normal Summon Aurora Wing!" She called out, throwing the card down on an unused Monster Zone.
Aurora Wing's card materialized, then started gleaming. Aurora Wing flew out of the portal and joined Ice Beast Aspen.
Aurora Wing ATK: 1200/ Level: 4.
"Oh no!" Cody screamed out with wide eyes, knowing full well what this meant for him and his chances of winning. "Oh, yes!" Rio shot back with a grin, right before she threw her right hand out forward. "Now go, Aurora Wing! Attack Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry!" The Ice Queen commanded her Winged-Beast-Type Monster.
Aurora Wing let out a cry as it spread both wings out wide. It then took off like a jet and flew straight to the wreck that is Digvorzhak. Aurora Wing literally flew straight through it, leaving a gaping hole in the main body. Digvorzhak's body sparked with blue electricity for a moment, before completely exploding.
The explosion created a powerful force of wind that blew Cody off his feet and sent him flying with a cry. (1200 - 800 = 400.)
Cody Life Points: 1200 - 400 = 800.
Cody crashed down on the ground, but was thankfully unharmed. The young boy sat up and looked at where Digvorzhak was moments ago, but was now gone. "T-there's no way..." He uttered to himself with a wide-eyed expression, mentally wishing this was just a bad nightmare he's having. And unfortunately for him, it wasn't.
"Say that to this! Ice Beast Aspen, attack Cody directly and end this!" Rio commanded her Xyz Monster, throwing her right hand into the air. Ice Beast Aspen gave a soft "chip" in response, before flying over to Cody and started a barrage of pecking attacks. Cody comically cried out and flailed around anime style as Aspen pecked him all over, hopeless to its assault.
Cody Life Points: 800 - 800 = 0.
Winner: Rio!

Ice Beast Aspen soon stopped its assault and flew away, much to Cody's relief as he laid down on his back and let out a sigh of relief. "And the rest... is scene". Rio said with a grin, giving a formal bowl like she had just finished a play.
The duel horn went off, followed by a screen materialized in the air, showing a picture of Rio winking with the words 'Win' underneath it. The AR - Vision deactivated around the construction sight, all the damage disappearing to reveal it all without a single scratch. Rio's two Winged-Beast Monsters burst into sparkles and disappeared from sight.
Cody sat up from the ground and looked directly at Rio across from him. "But why? Why did I lose to such weak Monsters..." Cody spoke, taking his D-Gazer off with the left hand. "Because pure power isn't everything. Even the smallest things can accomplish what the big and powerful cannot". Rio told the young boy, taking her D-Gazer off first and then her D-pad and Deck.
She put them all away, before she and Enna looked over and saw Yuma and Astral approaching them. The two females smiled at their partners, before Rio gazed back over to Cody. "The smallest can accomplish what the big and powerful cannot?" The young boy questioned, slightly tilting his head in confusion.
Yuma took that moment to step forward and explain. "Every skyscraper and building are all supported by these bolts". Yuma told his friend, gesturing to the construction work all around them with his right hand. He then pointed at a piece of the mesh floors in between them.
Cody looked and saw bolts there, tightly secured. "Even the biggest things depend on the smallest things. Just because you're small or weak doesn't mean it's bad. In fact, you could say it is the most important thing of all. This construction site is living proof of that, Cody". Rio added in, walking up to beside Yuma on his right and gently wrapped her left hand around his right arm.
Cody grew silent at their words, thinking hard about what they told him and what he learned. After 10 seconds of thinking about it, Cody was beginning to see their point. 'These guys... Aww, damn it'. The young boy thought to himself, growing an accepting smile on his face.
A latter bit later; Cody lead Yuma, Rio and their partners to the top floor of the Construction Site. "Here you go, Rio". The young boy said, tossing a Heart Piece over to Rio. The Ice Queen caught it with her right hand, turned it over and looked at the Heart Piece. She gave a grin at seeing it would go well with her collection.
"I lost, plain and simple". The Machine-Type Duelist admitted, placing his right hand on the hip and gave a small grin. "So you take my Heart Piece, damn you". Cody added, not the type to be a sore loser since he lost fair and square. He turned to his left and looked out to the view of Heartland City, taking it all in.
Rio tilted her head up and gave Cody a thankful smile. "Thank you, Cody. I'll make sure to make it to the finals". The Ice Queen thanked her friend. She turned to look at Yuma with the two smiling at each other. "With that, we both have 2 Heart Pieces. Just 3 left for both of us". Yuma said with an excited grin, bringing up his clenched right fist.
Meanwhile with the Astral World couple; Astral was floating around and looking at the bolts all screwed in around them. Enna was watching her husband with an amused face from a few feet behind their partners, enjoying the expression of fascination on Astral's face.
"You guys got a point. I forgot one very important thing. You don't need huge power to build huge things". Cody said out loud, words that brought a proud smile to Rio's face. She turned to look at the young boy and spoke. "That's right. You don't need pure power to be amazing, you're living proof of that, Cody. You're amazing and cool just the way you are". Rio told the Machine-Type Duelist with sincerity in her voice.
Yuma and Cody had mixed reactions at Rio's words. Yuma's eyes turned comically white and he grit his teeth anime style in jealousy. And as for Cody, he flushed at what the Ice Queen said about him. "N-No, no way!" He stuttered, then laughed nervously along with folding both hands behind his head. Yuma lost his jealous expression and chuckled a little.
Back with Astral and Enna; the married couple were now sitting down on a railing and looking down at the three humans. Astral had both arms crossed, while Enna had a simple smile. "Even the smallest things are the most important". The Mohawk-hair styled man uttered to himself, catching Enna's attention. She turned to look at her husband, before bringing her left hand up and gently placed it against Astral's right cheek. Astral smiled at his wife, enjoying the soft feeling of her hand.
"The hell!?" A random voice shouted out, causing everyone to blink in surprise. They all looked over to the nearby yellow stairway to see a rather short male construction worker there, frowning at the three youths with his right fist in the air. "The hell are you guys doin' here?!" He shouted out in outrage.
Yuma and Cody both grew expressions full of panic, while Rio turned to look at the Machine Duelist with a small frown. "Wait, you're not allowed here Cody?" She questioned the young man in surprise, having thought he had a special privilege to be here by something important like the boss of the construction site.
Cody didn't get a chance to answer Rio's question because the man kept shouting out. "What'll happen if y'all got hurt?!" He exclaimed, further increasing the panic of Yuma and Cody. The two males quickly turned around and quickly took off running with Astral flying after her partner.
Rio watched them go while Enna floated down to her partner. The Ice Queen turned to the construction worker and bowed her head in apologies. "I'm so sorry!" She apologized. Rio lifted her head, before she turned around and ran after her boyfriend and friend. Enna flew right behind the teenage girl with an amused smile on her face.
Today is proving to be entertaining and exciting so far. The day and the World Duel Carnival's first day was far from finished as there were still many events left to take place before it could end. And the next event will be a challenging one for Yuma and Rio's relationship.
(Meanwhile)
Somewhere in Heartland City; someone stood at the top of a building, gazing down at the streets below. This person is a 14-year-old girl around the same height as Rio, but her appearance was very much different.
She has red and orange long short hair, yellow eyes and clear white skin. She's wearing a pink and white shirt, which reaches below her waist, a black and red right fingerless glove, a wrist guard on the left hand, black compression shorts and a pair of boots in the same colors as her shirt. And for some reason, there was a massive dark pink cannon right behind her.
The girl's name was unknown for now, but her reason here in Heartland was for a mission. A personal mission to her. One that she had every intention of succeeding and making someone pay terribly in the near future. "...!" The girl grit her teeth in annoyance from not spotting her target yet.
Suddenly two things appeared on her biceps. On the right one was the number "27" in alien red colour. And on the left bicep was number "81" in the same alien colour as the other number. Yet despite the two Numbers being in possession of this girl, there was no dark aura around her. A sign that she wasn't under the Numbers' influence and was acting free.
The two Numbers quickly disappeared from sight, yet the girl didn't so much as notice them. "...No matter what it takes, even if I have to turn this whole city upside down... I will find you... Yuma Tsukumo!" She swore, eyes blazing anime flames of burning rage. Whoever this girl is, she's clearly got a bone to pick with Yuma, and no doubt Rio will get caught up in it.
Trouble was headin' for Yuma with a capital T. And it's not like the kinds he's faced in the past before; it'll be much more troublesome for him.

The screen was covered by white rose petals, before they were blown away to reveal Rio in a red world, clothed in her normal outfit, with her eyes closed. She opens them, then grew an expression of wonder as she held up her hands right as the white petals began to fall around her. Her hair flew from the breeze, yet Rio didn't move an inch and kept her hands out, as if she was waiting for some rose petals to fall into her hands.
"Someone gave me some water."
"So I was able to paint a rainbow with ease."
The screen changed to a random part of Heartland City, where Rio was slowly walking down a street with her back to the camera. The screen slowly moved upwards as Rio walked, eventually Heartland Tower came into view.
"I want to become someone perfect."
"But it's very difficult."
The screen changed, showing the left side of Rio's face with the sky as the background. The Ice Queen wordlessly stared forward, the wind blowing her hair and clouds moving in the sky. Then, a single rose petal fell from the sky, yet Rio ignored it and instead closed her eyes.
"Even with me suffering,"
The screen changed to show Yuma standing in a white world, holding his left arm out with the Duel Disk on. The advanced Duel Disk then released a crimson bright light, before the world around Yuma changed to a red virtual world with red virtual cards flying around him. The cards quickly then transformed into crimson red beams that gathered inside of Yuma's Duel Disk.
The screen then changed once more to a blue world; where Astral stood with both arms crossed, facing forward with a deadly serious expression. It then quickly changed to show Enna in the blue world, displaying a worried face as she held her crying son in her arms.
"I can't seem to grasp victory."
In a purple hexagon world leading to a bright white light; Yuma and Rio stood ten feet away with Yuma's back to the Ice Queen. The Syllables Duelist, Duel-Eye Tatoo, headset and Duel Disk on, began walking away from Rio, who watched him with eyes full of concern as it felt like he's leaving her behind.
"I want to bloom!"
Yuma then seemingly blurred through the camera, right as Rio cried out in concern and threw her left hand out, reaching out for the boy she loved. The world seemed to be moving as well, turning to its right side as it headed to the bright white light at the end.
"I must be having some kind of weird dream."
"But If I must fulfil this,"
"Then I don't mind being laughed at for it."
The screen changed, now showing a random part of Heartland City. The camera started zooming out, showing Astral and Enna floating in the air next to one another, before they both spun around to face the camera. Yuma and Rio then came into sight, both facing forward for a moment or two, before they both turned around to face the camera with serious frowns, their pendants swaying a bit from the movement.
The screen changed, this time showing Yuma and Rio's friends, all dressed in their school uniforms, with Heartland Academy in the background. The camera began zooming back as Cat turned around, then gave a cat pose. Caswell turned around, placed his right hand on the hip and held up the left hand. Tori, Bronk and Flip turned to face the camera, before Bronk smirked and held up his right fist, while Flip jumped into the air with a bright smile and Tori just gave a gentle smile.
"Since it's because your limits are decided on your own."
"I'll show it, overcoming it to tomorrow."
The screen changed to another part of Heartland City and began zooming back. Kite and a cloaked Luna came into view across one another, before the Photon Duelist turned around and held up his ace monster; Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon's card. Hart came into view right as Luna grabbed hold of her cloak and threw it away, right before the young boy turned to look at the camera. The camera continued to zoom back, eventually revealing a large hologram of Doctor Faker looming over Heartland City. He laughed evilly, holding up both hands as he did so.
The screen changed, now showing ruins with the three brothers; Tray, Quattro and Quinton with Vetrix, super-size, behind the ruin's platform, facing a different direction. Quattro was the only brother standing on solid ground, while Tray and Quinton were floating slightly above the ground with Quinton's hair blowing. Vetrix turned around and gave a dark grin at the camera.
"Ah, I'm aiming for the big blue sky."
"For all of its glory."
"The Freesia of Desire."
The screen changed to a lovely afternoon Heartland City. Yuma, Rio and Kairi all walked beside one another with the little girl holding her parents' hands with both of hers. Yuma and Rio were smiling down at the little girl in between them, while Kairi had a great big smile with both eyes closed. And following behind the happy family was Shark, both hands in his pockets as he followed, a sour face watching his sister and her "family".
It changed once more, this time to a plaza area where Shark and Rio were having another one of their sibling squabble duels. Yuma stood on the sidelines, Kairi riding on his shoulders as both of them cried out in surprise, watching Rio getting blasted off her feet and sent crashing onto the ground in defeat. Shark stood a few feet away from his siter, holding his right hand out and left, Duel Disk equipped forearm, up with his ace monster; Number 37: Hope Wyvern Dragon Spider Shark floating above him.
It changed once more; this time showing Yuma, Rio and Shark all together. Kairi was straddling Shark's back in a piggyback ride, laughing with both eyes closed as she wrapped both arms around Shark's neck, while he looked at the girl over his shoulder with a comical annoyed face. Yuma was outright laughing with both eyes closed and his hands folded behind the head, while Rio held up her right hand to her face as she giggled at the sight of her brother.
The camera zoomed in on Rio, before spinning around, then changed.
"All of those countless flower petals".
"They came at the expense of".
"me being able to reach those heights."
Heartland City has been reduced to a former shell of itself, almost completely destroyed with all of the buildings either ruined or almost destroyed. It was as if some unknown force had come and invaded this once cheerful city. In the middle of the ruined city; Rio stood atop rooftop all alone, her hair and uniform's tails blowing in the breeze. She had a devastated face at what's happened to her home.
The camera then zoomed back, then shifted around and zoomed forward, quickly revealing Quattro standing atop another rooftop, Duel Disk equipped, with his back to the screen. He spun around and draw a card with a crazy grin, holding five cards with his left hand, staring right towards Rio.
Then, Quattro's strongest monster; Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo appeared behind its master, seated on its throne. Leo then rose up from its throne, took its blade into a stance and then charged towards Rio, intending to bring its blade down on her.
"Ah, even though I lost my way today,"
"I still yearn for it."
"That freesia of Desire."
But from out of nowhere, a giant monster that matched Gimmick Puppet of Leo in size appeared in Leo's path and stopped its blade with both of its arms. Both monsters gleamed, before the camera shifted past them to the rooftop that Rio was standing on, only now Yuma, in full Duel gear, stood in front of his girlfriend in a protective manner, holding a single virtual card with his right hand, while Rio hid behind her boyfriend in a bit of fright.
Astral and Enna were floating besides their partners, facing Quattro and his monster as well. The camera zoomed in on the teenage couple, showing Yuma had a serious frown on his face while Rio was gazing at her boyfriend with great worry.
Rose petals then appeared and covered the screen's view for a moment, before clearing to reveal Rio in the red world from before, down on her knees, eyes closed and smiling a peaceful smile as she held a bouquet of roses in her hands with both hands, seemingly at peace.

With that, another chapter is over! Now everyone, the next story I'm gonna update is gonna be my Date a Live story since it's been a while since I did that one. Not to mention that season 5 of the anime has come and go. It made me feel the urge to do a chapter for my Date a Live story.
This chapter wasn't very long or different from the cannon episode, and I'm really sorry about that everyone. I swear that the next chapter will be longer and much different from the cannon episode! I ask you all to be patient and wait for it.
One last thing before I call it quits for tonight. I'm not sure if any of you guys know about my World of Warcraft story, but if any of you do know about it, I've been considering doing a rewrite of it. There will be differences to it from the original and such, but I'm still thinking of ideas to use. If any of you would like to talk to me about it, just message me.
