Waltz through memory lane
Days had passed since I spoke with Saya at the chapel. Haji and I are strained as is and I made no effort mending it for the time being stuck on this mission. Having grown close enough to my roommate after she tended to me all night long and even skipping classes, she was a Well of information. Gossip is a powerful source. She was the center of it all.
"Konella," she spoke with her lips pursed, hands placed on her hips, I looked her way as she rolled her eyes dramatically. "Are you sure you don't need to go to a doctor? I can even call mine here and have you examined, free of charge of course." Boasting, but not as a rich snob, she was trying to look out for me.
"Thank you, but I'm fine after your care."
"You missed the tour of the museum, but I rather miss that than miss the ball!" Excited, she brought out several dresses she had prepared ahead of time. "Now I must decide what to wear." She paused and looked me up and down and scrutinized me quietly.
"What?"
"Did you even bring a dress?"
"…" thinking about my luggage I've barely touched, I didn't plan on the ball and I don't think David did either for the mission. "No. Transferred here rather late into the semester, didn't think of bringing one."
"Not on my watch!"
I've never seen a girl move so quickly and taking my measurements without considering my feelings that by the time she was finished she had everything in an envelope and was smirking the entire time.
"I will have you looking fabulous!" She moved swiftly out the door, leaving me stunned to what just happened here. I didn't want to pry or make any further obstacles for me and just looked at myself in the mirror. I was a wreck.
"Damn, maybe that's why she insisted on a doctor for me. I look like a ghost." Bags started forming under my eyes and I had a hard time eating the food here as it all tasted so bland to me. Unable to really sleep with all these voices in my head I feel as though I was going insane. "Just a little longer…I can hold out a little longer." My mantra to myself, it was the only thing keeping myself grounded.
Attendance for class on my part has been lacking. But having the excuse of being ill really helped me out as I explored the school a little more. The walls were dull and gray with little depictions of color, but each time I placed my hand on the surface I would see a different color and texture blossom from my mind. Countless times this happened, and more than just the building it would occur. The garden was much smaller than it is now it seemed. Filled with multiple roses blooming in the spring. I would walk further into the building and stare at the end of the hall yet met with open fields that covered a valley that was turned into a lovely vineyard.
"I'm going crazy here!" Slamming my hand into the nearest wall and the images vanish, my reality was warped, I couldn't grasp what to think and what I was seeing to be real or not. "I need to end this mission…" returning to the chapel where I found the least of the images to occur, there was an outstanding silence here that brought comfort to me before I heard the groaning of an old gate and looked around to find the head mistress over where Saya and I saw the blue roses. Watching her closely now and seeing her just looking around, she fixated her clothing and shut the gates, only to come through this very chapel I was at. "Well that piqued my interest."
Waiting for a short while before heading over there and leaping across the small chasm, I stopped to touch the blue roses growing over here and felt like someone was hugging me from behind when I smelled their scent. My heart felt like it dropped to the ground as I resisted the urge to fall with it.
"Why does everything here make me want to cry?" Shutting my eyes to regain focus of what I needed to do, I took a single petal and tucked it away before I searched the area and found a small drop ladder. The tunnel was short and the locked gate at the end was no issue as I busted the lock quietly and entered a singular room filled with documents and computer monitors.
"What do we have here?" Seeing if I can access anything off them, each required a passcode to which I didn't have yet. "I'll move along and let David know of this." The door past the room was unlocked and I ventured in while keeping my guard up only to hear loud echoing sounds of men working up ahead. The smell of gasoline filled the air with a pungent smell, but seeing wine barrels lining the walls and stockpiled high to the ceiling caught my attention. Reading the labels, each barrel was filled with the brand Chateau Duel, and every barrel had different dates on them.
Careful not to get seen as I took out my phone to take pictures of everything I was finding, I heard voices coming from behind and leapt up into the rafters and watched several men walk by without knowing a thing.
[I need to tell David…] I was ready to call him when another oddity caught my eye. A rather unique cargo crate was being held here surrounded heavily with guards. Taking a picture and sending it to David I checked the area before jumping back down and finding a small open crate filled with bottles of wine. [I'll take a couple and have this analyzed.]

"Singing?" Confused where it was coming from, I clenched my chest and felt my heart thumping. "I've…I know this sound…" head began to whirl as my dreams started to surface repeatedly and I backed into the shelving. Breathing became haggard as I tried to steady myself before hearing someone coming around the corner. Panic was setting in and rather than being caught I ran out of the warehouse with all my inhuman speed back to the chapel.
Calling David and hearing the other end pick up, he wasn't the most pleasant person answering.
HIM: What did you find?
Immediately to the point, I told him of the wine, the warehouse and the crate being stored there. He asked for more details concerning the crate, so I gave him what I saw and he wanted to take action ASAP. Asking why the rush, he told me of Diva and what they knew and I sucked in a breath. I had found Diva. She was residing in that cargo crate, and I came across it.
HIM: How long will Saya be gone for?
Back on topic as I had to settle myself from running back to that warehouse, I cleared my throat.
"Not much longer. The trip lasts for maybe half a day and then the ball begins tonight."
HIM: A ball?
He fell silent as I explained the curricular of the ball and its significance here and he seemed to have come up with a plan.
HIM: We will meet with you and Saya at the ball to infiltrate the warehouse. Will you two be ready by then?
Taking a moment to think if we could pull it off, he was impatient waiting for my confirmation. His tongue clicking in my ear was annoying.
"Yes." He confirmed the mission and hung up. "…now then…" staring up at the clear sky and trying to grasp what I've found, my head felt so heavy that it was hard to make any clear decisions. "Can I withstand this mission much further?" Asking an absurd question, I held tight to the wine bottles and decided to open it and drink. The sensation of the wine going down my throat was pleasing and calming the fire within me. Like a sedative to my rampant emotions as of late—the wine was excellent. Taste and year had been done to perfection. Licking my lips and drinking the second bottle without care, this was the calmest I've felt since coming here thanks to the alcohol's effects. "Guess I'm ready for the ball now." Laughing through my nose and leaving the empty bottles here, I headed back to my room and awaited what would happen.
