Hey y'all! Welcome to the Alternative Culprit Files! This is part three! Hope y'all enjoy! Sorry for the long wait for this chapter - lost motivation for a while and was extremely busy.
Message In A Haunted Mansion
Rose's Ending
As Nancy inserts the ruby into the phoenix head, she watches in amazement as as a reflected beam of light shines onto the patterned circle in the floor.
"Of course. The treasure was right under our feet the entire time..." she remarks, as she whips out her crowbar from...somewhere...uses it to pry open the circular panel.
Underneath, she gasps as she discovers stacks and stacks of glittering gold coins. Her amazement is cut short, however, by being hit on the head from the back. As Nancy loses consciousness, she faintly hears the voice of her attacker.
"Couldn't have stuck to the chores, dear?"
When Nancy comes to, she notices a figure in a red sweater and blue jeans hastily scooping the coins into a sack. Rose! Nancy silently chides herself for not realizing it sooner.
"I've got to stop her!" Nancy thinks to herself. She looks around, until her gaze lands on the loose-hanging chandelier positioned right above Rose...
(Bad Ending)
Nancy rushes up the staircase to her left, not stopping to think...until a loud "SQUEAK!" sounds out as soon as Nancy puts her foot on the first step. Rose immediately looks back and notices Nancy.
"Oh, and here you were, so close to stopping me. Looks like Hannah was wrong about you, dear. Goodbye!" Rose says, smirking, before she gets up with her sack of money and dashes off through the front door.
You have failed!
(Good Ending)
Nancy rushes up the staircase to her right, remembering the squeaky nature of the other staircase. She reaches the top without a sound, and rushes over to the hook and rope that hangs up the chandelier. She quickly undoes the rope, praying that the squeaks of the chandelier don't alert Rose. Finally, she undoes the tie, and the chandelier goes crashing down, pinning Rose beneath it.
"H-Help! H-Help!" Rose feebly cries, her plans effectively and utterly stopped.
Dear Hannah,
Your old friend turned out to be my worst enemy! Who would have thought Rose would be sabotaging her own property? You should have seen the look on her face when the police arrived to take her away...it was scarier than any of Abby's ghost tricks. Turns out, Rose had hoped the sabotage would deter Abby from being partners with her, meaning Rose could hunt for the treasure without any disturbance and get to keep it all for herself if she found it. Speaking of Abby, she's decided to go ahead with the B&B with the help of none other than Louis! With all the research he's done on the place, and with her advertising her "hauntings" as part of the experience, I'm sure it'll end up a success. Charlie's doing well too. After Abby found out he was living in the basement, she helped him find a place of his own, only letting him pay for half of it out of his salary.
As for me, I've decided to come home and relax - considering I didn't get much of that here!
Love, Nancy.
Abby's Ending
As Nancy inserts the ruby into the phoenix head, she watches in amazement as as a reflected beam of light shines onto the patterned circle in the floor.
"Of course. The treasure was right under our feet the entire time..." she remarks, as she whips out her crowbar from...somewhere...uses it to pry open the circular panel.
Underneath, she gasps as she discovers stacks and stacks of glittering gold coins. Her amazement is cut short, however, by being hit on the head from the back. As Nancy loses consciousness, she faintly hears the voice of her attacker.
"Pax tecum, Nancy..."
When Nancy comes to, she notices a distinctive purple sweater, and instantly realizes...Abby, scooping gold into a large sack! Of course! She should have realized it earlier...
"I've got to stop her!" Nancy thinks to herself. She looks around, until her gaze lands on the loose-hanging chandelier positioned right above Abby...
(Bad Ending)
Nancy rushes up the staircase to her left, not stopping to think...until a loud "SQUEAK!" sounds out as soon as Nancy puts her foot on the first step. Rose immediately looks back and notices Nancy.
"Well, looks like someone tried to stop me, and someone failed miserably. Here's a little more Latin for you, Nancy, before I make my farewell: vale, stulta puella!" Abby sneers, snatching up her sack and running out the door.
You have failed!
(Good Ending)
Nancy rushes up the staircase to her right, remembering the squeaky nature of the other staircase. She reaches the top without a sound, and rushes over to the hook and rope that hangs up the chandelier. She quickly undoes the rope, praying that the squeaks of the chandelier don't alert Abby. Finally, she undoes the tie, and the chandelier goes crashing down, pinning Abby beneath it.
"AHHHH!" Abby screams, struggling to escape the heavy chandeler squashing her and her evil machinations.
Dear Hannah,
Turns out the hauntings weren't the only things Abby was orchestrating. In fact, the hauntings were simply her way of getting rid of Rose as soon as possible, so Abby could go ahead and hunt for and claim the treasure for herself. So, not only was she sabotaging her own project, she was actively hoping her business partner would be scared off! Not very zen of her, huh? Rose is still going ahead with the B&B, but now she's partnered with none other than...Louis! With his extensive research on the mansion, they're planning on marketing the whole thing as a "historical experience". I heard they might even be keeping the ghost machines. As for Charlie, when Rose found out he was living in the basement, she immediately offered him a room in the B&B, free of charge, so long as he kept working for her.
Me? I'm coming back to River Heights. I think I've had enough of "relaxation", even if I didn't get much of it here!
Love, Nancy
Charlie's Ending
As Nancy inserts the ruby into the phoenix head, she watches in amazement as as a reflected beam of light shines onto the patterned circle in the floor.
"Of course. The treasure was right under our feet the entire time..." she remarks, as she whips out her crowbar from...somewhere...uses it to pry open the circular panel.
Underneath, she gasps as she discovers stacks and stacks of glittering gold coins. Her amazement is cut short, however, by being hit on the head from the back. As Nancy loses consciousness, she faintly hears the voice of her attacker.
'You should have minded your business..."
When Nancy comes to, she notices a person wearing a crinkled white shirt and blue jeans kneeling near the gold, scooping it up quickly into a rucksack. Could it be...Charlie?! Nancy is taken aback, but then chides herself for not realizing sooner.
"I've got to stop him!" Nancy thinks to herself. She looks around, until her gaze lands on the loose-hanging chandelier positioned right above Charlie...
(Bad Ending)
Nancy rushes up the staircase to her left, not stopping to think...until a loud "SQUEAK!" sounds out as soon as Nancy puts her foot on the first step. Abby immediately looks back and notices Nancy.
"So, you were trying to stop me, huh? Cute. Maybe you'll get a mention in my term paper now...as the girl who failed to stop Valdez's treasure being stolen?" Charlie chuckles cruelly, before hefting the rucksack and sprinting out the door.
You have failed!
(Good Ending)
Nancy rushes up the staircase to her right, remembering the squeaky nature of the other staircase. She reaches the top without a sound, and rushes over to the hook and rope that hangs up the chandelier. She quickly undoes the rope, praying that the squeaks of the chandelier don't alert Charlie. Finally, she undoes the tie, and the chandelier goes crashing down, pinning Charlie beneath it.
"GET ME OUT!" Charlie yells, but all Nancy can notice is how the wrinkles on his shirt never seem to change position...
Dear Hannah,
On top of illegally living in the basement, it turns out Charlie's been behind all the sabotage! After doing research for his paper, he had discovered the existence of the treasure, and had set off to find it, using his position as handyman to have free access to the whole place. I guess he thought that if he got Rose and Abby to give up on the mansion, he might be able to sneak off with the money that much easier. I hope getting expelled and thrown in jail was worth it. Rose and Abby have decided to go full steam ahead with the B&B...and they're incorporating Abby's hauntings into the marketing and experience! They've even brought on Louis as a historical consultant, and to provide historical information for any guests interested!
As for me, I'm coming right on back to River Heights. I need some real relaxation time now - since I didn't really get much here.
Love, Nancy.
And that's Message In A Haunted Mansion! The next chapter will be up relatively soon - maybe later today or by tommorrow. Again, sorry for the massive delay, but I hope to finish this series now at some point. Tune in next time for Treasure In The Royal Tower, and vale!
