Earlier in Class 1-A's dormitory...
Bakugo stayed by the window, watching the fights unfold. He really wanted to help out, but he knew that Chrysalis was after Midoriya. He looked back at Midoriya and noticed that the twitching started to act up again. The bite mark wasn't as bad this time around, but it was still not looking very good.
Uraraka held his hand, trying to get him to calm down. Melissa sat next to Uraraka, trying to support her. AllMight was struggling to stay there and watch Midoriya go through all of this. Even Midoriya's mom looked about ready to burst into tears.
"This isn't good, Bakugo," Uraraka said to him, "Izuku is starting to twitch again."
"There's nothing we can really do right now," Bakugo said back, "We need to wait for Ladybug. She's the only one who can help him. Recovery Girl's quirk doesn't work well with this kind of poison."
Midoriya looked like he was having trouble relaxing especially with his arm bothering him. Bakugo even noticed him reach out to grab his shoulder because it hurt so much. Uraraka tried to get him to leave it alone, but he still went for it.
"Isn't there anything we can use to help calm him down or get rid of the pain?" Melissa asked them.
"Recovery Girl gave him some ibuprofen," AllMight explained, "He might need more."
Uraraka spotted some in a bottle next to Midoriya's tea. She grabbed it and gave him two more. She needed Melissa to help her out with this. Melissa helped him sit up, and Uraraka gave him the ibuprofen. She made sure he swallowed it by giving him some of the tea.
"Come on Izuku," Uraraka said to him, "You've gotta swallow it. Okay?"
Soon enough, he swallowed the ibuprofen, and they settled him down onto the couch. Uraraka felt like she could relax a bit and even felt grateful that Melissa was here.
"Thanks Melissa," Uraraka said to her with a smile.
"No problem," Melissa said back.
Bakugo looked back at the fighting going on in front of Class 1-A's dormitory. It looked like Ladybug and Cat Noir were able to help get rid of two akumatized villains. They soon entered the dormitory and were taken care of. Death Arms and Ms. Joke were brought in by Jirou, Kaminari and Mr. Aizawa. All Bakugo cared about was making sure this wasn't all a set up or trap. Nothing seemed to be suspicious at the moment. Bakugo didn't even see Chrysalis anywhere as the fight unfolded.
"Bakugo, do you see Chrysalis anywhere?" Uraraka asked him.
"No. There's no sign of her," Bakugo said back, "But we can't let our guard down. She could show up at any moment."
Melissa and Uraraka looked around the windows and didn't see anything. Uraraka tightened her grip around Midoriya's hand and didn't let go. She felt his arm twitching a little, making her worry for him even more. Bakugo noticed it and wondered if Chrysalis was in his dream. He was asleep, but there was no way she was still in them. Since there were akumatized villains here, she wouldn't waste this opportunity to show up soon.
Bakugo turned around and started to worry that she was really in his dreams. He kept stirring a little in his sleep, but there was no sign of her anywhere.
"Do you think Chrysalis could still be in Deku's dreams?" Bakugo asked Uraraka.
Uraraka's eyes widened, clearly never thought of that. She looked back at Midoriya and pushed his hair out of his face.
"Izuku? Can you wake up?" Uraraka asked him, "Please wake up."
Midoriya stirred a little and opened his eyes. Uraraka smiled as soon as he woke up. AllMight sat up along with Midoriya's mom who was crying already.
"Izuku! You're okay!" Uraraka cried out.
Midoriya still looked really out of it as he tried to sit up. Once he moved however, pain shot up his arm and neck. He gripped onto it and had Uraraka help him up. Midoriya looked around the common room, and Bakugo noticed right away that he wasn't quite awake all the way.
"How are you feeling?" Melissa asked him.
For a while, Midoriya didn't say anything. He just looked around the common room as if he was looking for someone. Bakugo was a little confused as to what he was doing, but then he figured that he was wondering where Chrysalis was. Then his arm twitched, making him grip his shoulder.
"We're right here, Izuku," Uraraka said to him, "Once Ladybug comes back, she'll heal you."
Midoriya suddenly slapped Uraraka's hand out of the way, causing everyone to freeze in place. Bakugo had never seen Midoriya ever treat anyone like that, let alone Uraraka. Something about this didn't sit right with Bakugo.
"...N-No... L-Ladybug... I-I don't need her help..." Midoriya mumbled, looking a little out of it.
"What the hell are you talking about, Deku? Of course you need her help. You've been poisoned," Bakugo said back.
Bakugo noticed Midoriya trying to get Uraraka's hand away from him, and he grew even more confused. He didn't understand why he was treating her like this, he even noticed it a while ago, but didn't think much of it. Midoriya tried to stand up, but Uraraka and Melissa tried to stop him. Even AllMight got up to help out.
"...I-I need to... help Lila..." Midoriya mumbled as he tried to walk away, "...S-She's in trouble..."
Bakugo's eyes widened in shock and thought that Chrysalis must've messed with him. But then he remembered him mentioning this earlier. He still couldn't let Midoriya go anywhere, not with an injury like that.
"Deku, you're in no condition to go anywhere," Bakugo said back, "Chrysalis has done something to you. You really think someone like her needs your help?"
Midoriya stopped in his tracks, and Bakugo noticed how desperate he looked. He was sweating a lot and holding onto his shoulder, but still wanted to help her somehow. Bakugo didn't move as he got in his way. They stared at each other for a moment and didn't say a word.
"...Y-Yes... S-She looked at me... I-I could see it in her eyes..." Midoriya mumbled.
"Come on, Deku," Bakugo said back, "This is Chrysalis we're talking about! She akumatized me! Not only that, but she took my quirk! She even akumatized One for All, believe it or not! You really still think she needs your damn help?!"
"I'm not talking about Chrysalis!" Midoriya cried out, shocking everyone, "I'm talking about Lila! She was absolutely terrified of my Miraculous when she akumatized herself! She needed help!"
Bakugo still didn't understand what he meant by all of this. Chrysalis was still Lila, through and through.
Then Midoriya felt a massive headache coming over him and gripped onto his head. He collapsed onto the floor, causing everyone to run over to help. Bakugo went to help him up, but Midoriya wasn't letting him.
"Deku, what the hell is going on?" Bakugo asked him, "Is it Chrysalis?"
Midoriya could barely focus on what Bakugo was saying since something was ringing through his head. It wasn't stopping anytime soon, and Midoriya gripped his head even tighter. Something about this told him that Chrysalis was nearby.
"...Y-You don't hear that...?" Midoriya asked them, "...I-It's so loud..."
Bakugo looked up to make sure Chrysalis wasn't anywhere near them. He didn't see any sign of her. Not even in the sky.
"Izuku, you're okay," Uraraka said to him as she tried to support him, "I've got you."
Midoriya did it again and moved her hand away from him. Uraraka was starting to get really confused as to why he was doing that so much now.
"Okay, what is with you Deku? You keep slapping Uraraka like that, and you'll have me to deal with," Bakugo said back to him.
"...Pl-Please... Everyone... Stop... Talking..." Midoriya said to them, "...T-That ringing... it's getting closer..."
Bakugo's eyes widened in shock and was about to look out the window when he spotted Chrysalis smiling widely on the outside of it. He backed up, shocked to see her so soon and out of no where. He noticed her looking around the common room for Midoriya and spotted him struggling to keep it together.
"There you are, Izuku!" Chrysalis cried out through the window.
Bakugo aimed his gauntlets at Chrysalis, but then knew he would just be helping her get inside. Uraraka tried to help Midoriya up and guided him over to the couch. Midoriya was still gripping on his head, feeling really sweaty and exhausted.
Jirou and Kaminari stepped up to help protect Midoriya and got ready for Chrysalis to try to come inside. Bakugo could tell that Kaminari really didn't like the look of her and was kind of grossed out.
"What do we do, Bakugo?" Jirou asked him.
"Just make sure she doesn't get inside," Bakugo growled out, "She's after Deku. She's not going to give up until she gets him."
Midoriya felt his arm twitch as his head throbbed from his headache. Uraraka tried to calm him down, even Melissa tried to help her out. AllMight stood by Uraraka's side just in case she needed anything. Midoriya's mom didn't like seeing her son looking like he was in a lot of pain.
Bakugo tried to keep an eye on Chrysalis, but she kept crawling along the walls outside the dormitory.
"Eww... She's really grossing me out," Kaminari said to them as he watched her crawling all around the building.
"Watch out for any openings. She might sneak in from somewhere around here," Jirou said to them.
Bakugo looked around and didn't see any windows or doors open. Then Bakugo saw Chrysalis trying to do something to the window that she closest to. His eyes widened in disgust and shock that she was spitting something out. As she kept doing it, he noticed that she was spitting out some sort of acid.
"She's trying to get inside!" Bakugo cried out as he aimed his gauntlets at her, "Stop her!"
"Why don't you?" Kaminari asked him.
"Hello? I can't just blast explosions in here! Do you want me to let her in?!" Bakugo cried out.
"You do it, Kaminari," Jirou said back, "You can be like a bug zapper."
"Me?!" Kaminari cried out, "B-But I can't get near her! She's so gross looking!"
Bakugo grabbed him and tossed him towards the window. Kaminari cried out as he landed onto it, and all he could grab onto was Chrysalis through the window. There was a little hole in it, and he held onto her ponytail. She tried to get him off of her, but Kaminari quickly electrocuted her. She didn't like that and flew away from him. He let go of her and fell towards the floor.
Bakugo noticed that she was flying around the dormitory. He didn't understand why no one outside the dormitory didn't notice this and do something. He spotted her shadow moving around and worried that she might find a different way inside. Everyone was quiet, waiting to hear or see anything. Then Bakugo heard a crash from inside the dormitory. It sounded like it was coming from upstairs. Bakugo dragged Kaminari to follow him upstairs and went into the elevator.
"Why do I have to come with you?" Kaminari asked him.
"Because like it or not, your quirk helps us out here," Bakugo said back, "Get ready."
Bakugo exited elevator and had a feeling he knew where she was. He extended his arm out, and Kaminari walked behind him a little nervous. They both made their way into the hallway and towards Midoriya's room. Bakugo could hear something going on in there and knew to get ready. He slowly headed over there as Kaminari kept his distance. Once they got to Midoriya's room, Bakugo got his gauntlet ready and opened the door.
Once he opened it, Chrysalis was on the ceiling and freaked out Kaminari. Bakugo was about let out an explosion, but then Chrysalis shot out some weird silk that threw him off and grossed him out.
"Wha-What the hell is this?!" Bakugo cried out.
Kaminari backed up, but knew that he had to stay with him. Bakugo was able to break out of it pretty easily and found Chrysalis trying to find Midoriya. She got up into Kaminari's face, grossing him out even more.
"Eww... You really need a breath mint, lady," Kaminari said to her.
Kaminari then realized how close she was and grabbed onto her. He electrocuted her, making her let out a high pitch scream. Bakugo got up and aimed his gauntlets at Chrysalis. She smelled really bad from being electrocuted, but she still went after Bakugo. She launched at him, causing him to fall over. She gripped onto his gauntlet and held him down as she got close to his face.
Chrysalis didn't look quite right as Bakugo noticed that she had grown some fangs and her face looked more Moth like now since the last time he saw her.
"You're in the way," Chrysalis growled at him, "Give me Izuku!"
Bakugo noticed her drooling from the acid that she shot out at the window. It ended up hitting his face, making him flinch a little.
"There's no way in hell I would ever let you have Deku," Bakugo growled at her, "Besides, I don't think he's your type."
Bakugo tried to get her off of him, but she was much stronger than she looked. He couldn't move his arms, not even a little. She smiled at him which only made him try to get her off even more.
"Kaminari, zap her!" Bakugo cried out.
"B-But you're right near her," Kaminari said to him a little nervously.
"Just do it!" Bakugo cried out.
Kaminari ran for it and placed his hands on top of her, accidentally touching her wings.
"Sorry Bakugo," Kaminari said to him, "Indiscriminate shock 1.3 million volts!"
Chrysalis let out a high pitch scream, and Bakugo got electrocuted as well. He tried to keep it together, but it still hurt a lot. Soon Kaminari's quirk died down, and Bakugo felt a little numb. He looked up to see Chrysalis knocked out. She had fallen off of Bakugo, and he instinctively got away from her. Bakugo still felt the electric shock go up and down his body, and Kaminari got close to her to see if she was okay.
"Well, that was pretty gross," Kaminari said to him, "She wasn't really gross when you guys went to Paris, right?"
"No. She was just annoying," Bakugo said back, "We need to get Deku's Miraculous back. This will stop her from coming after him."
Bakugo tried not to wake her up as he spotted the Miraculous. It was dangling around her belt, ready to take it off. The moment he touched it, she woke up and attacked Bakugo. She looked really pissed off and tried to go after his own Miraculous. She almost pulled it off when he let off an explosion. It hit her, causing her wings to catch on fire. They were smoking, and she felt pain go up her back and went for Midoryia's room. Bakugo tried to stop her from getting away, but she already launched out of the window.
Bakugo and Kaminari watched her leaving the U.A. Campus along with a few of her akumas. They stood there, feeling so out of breath. Even Bakugo was surprised at how much stronger she was now. He noticed that she was having trouble flying. He and Kaminari had damaged her wings, so they knew that she wasn't going to be back anytime soon.
Bakugo was just frustrated that he didn't get Midoriya's Miraculous back. That just meant that she was definitely going to be back at some point.
"Come on. We better go check on Deku," Bakugo said to him.
Kaminari followed him out of Midoriya's room and towards the elevator. Bakugo still felt that numbing sensation up and down his body from Kaminari's electrocution. He even flinched a little from it and tried to shake it off.
"Geez Sparky," Bakugo said to him, "You could've lightened up a little on the zapping."
"What was I supposed to do? She was right on top of you!" Kaminari said back.
"Well, at least she's gone for now," Bakugo said to him.
Once they got off of the elevator, they noticed that everyone was back inside. Ladybug and Cat Noir had taken care of all of the akumas. She even gave them all magical charms that helped him fight against Chrysalis. The pro heroes that were akumatized were talking to Mr. Aizawa about what was going on with Chrysalis. Bakugo looked around to see his classmates sitting with Midoriya. He walked over there, and everyone noticed Bakugo and Kaminari out of breath.
"Are you two okay?" Iida asked them, "Uraraka told us what you did. You must've stopped her from getting inside."
"Yeah," Bakugo said back still feeling a static shock running up and down his body, "Sparky here shocked her pretty well. I even used my explosion on her."
"Unfortunately, she got away," Kaminari explained.
"She won't be coming back anytime soon. Her wings were damaged from our attacks," Bakugo said to them.
Bakugo spotted Midoriya and walked up to him. Midoriya seemed to look a little better. He wasn't gripping on his head, and his arm wasn't twitching that much. He sat down next to him, and Uraraka spotted something on his shoulder.
"Bakugo, what is this?" Uraraka asked him, "It's all over you."
"Oh! That was the gross part," Kaminari said to them, "Chrysalis spit this weird silk out of her mouth. She got it all over Bakugo!"
Uraraka instinctively shook it off of her, feeling really grossed out right away. She couldn't stop shaking it off and wiped her hands on her skirt.
Bakugo looked at Midoriya, and he seemed to not notice that Bakugo was sitting next to him. Midoriya was clearly awake, but Bakugo wondered what he was thinking about.
"Deku, she's gone," Bakugo said to him, "Chrysalis's wings are damaged. She won't come back, but she will--"
"Her wings are damaged?!" Midoriya cried out, making everyone jump, "What were you thinking?!"
Bakugo was not expecting him to freak out over this. For a moment, he didn't know how to respond to that.
"Umm... I was thinking about how I didn't want my damn face to melt from her acid," Bakugo said back, "What the hell is with you Deku? We're trying to help you deal with Caterpillar, and all you want to do is save her!"
"That's because no one is listening to me!" Midoriya yelled back, "Chrysalis is trying to get One for All! Lila is the one that needs help!"
"That doesn't make any fucking sense, Deku! Chrysalis is Lila!" Bakugo yelled at him, "She is after you! She's going to come back! You really want to face her again?! She just tried to melt his face, Deku!"
Midoriya looked so frustrated as he clenched his fists in anger.
"I'm just trying to save Lila! That's all I care about right now!" Midoriya yelled out before realizing what he had just said.
Bakugo looked at Uraraka who was feeling hurt by that comment. He even noticed Ladybug feel a little bit hurt, and Cat Noir gave her some comfort. Bakugo looked back at Midoriya, and he knew that he didn't mean that.
"Come on, Deku. Snap out of it! You've been treating Uraraka terribly for some reason, and now Ladybug is just trying to heal you," Bakugo tried to explain, "Chrysalis is messing with you. She's trying to get to you so that she can take One for All. That's all she cares about is your quirk--"
Bakugo was shocked when Midoriya interrupted him by slapping him in the face. Uraraka was concerned for the both of them and so was everyone else.
"You're wrong about her. Lila is in there somewhere," Midoriya mumbled to Bakugo.
Ladybug and Cat Noir were about to interrupt a possible fight when Midoriya walked away from them. Midoriya held his shoulder as he entered the elevator. Once it closed, everyone was checking in on Bakugo.
"Are you okay, Bakugo?" Uraraka asked him, "I have never seen Izuku act that way before."
"I'm sure he didn't mean it," Melissa said to them, "This Chrysalis villain is doing something to him. We need to make sure that he's okay."
"No," Ladybug said back, "Let's just give him some space. We can still keep him safe and protected right here."
Bakugo felt his cheek where he slapped him and looked back at the elevator. He wondered if he might be right about Chrysalis. Maybe there was something else going on with her.
Another amazing chapter!
This chapter is probably one of my favorites in this part of the story! I'd say this is where things start to get pretty crazy! Bakugo is definitely one of my all time favorite characters to write in this book along with Midoriya and Uraraka! Something about Bakugo going through all of this just to help out Midoriya is just so satisfying! I always like those moments where they clearly care about one another!
Writing Midoriya and Chrysalis has gotten pretty interesting. We'll see where it goes.
