Chapter 11

1950

The next day we got the first flight out to Hoquiam and set out to find the family. It only took us a couple of hours since we asked around in a few shops and Restraunts. We followed the directions of a lovely old couple on foot and found their house fairly quickly. We were laughing all the way because I kept asking people and they'd be so confused because I was only describing them and they had the funniest responses to me. That was until we reached their front door. Jasper turned to face me, suddenly turning anxious. "Al? What if these aren't the people? You were describing them after all."

"It'll be okay. That couple seemed to know them straight away. And lets be honest there are five of them so I'm sure they'd be pretty easier to tell apart to other families."

"Also, what if, even though you've had a vision, they don't like us?"

"They won't. And. We'll always have each other even if they do." I was confident that they wouldn't do that but I wanted to comfort Jasper. He looked really nervous now. I knocked on the door and grabbed Jasper's hand. I wanted him to know I was there for him.

A young man opened the door. He was thin and pale. He looks friendly, I thought. For some reason, a wave of panic came over me and I just stood in silence. Jasper turned towards me confused. The man's eyes were flitting between us both. He must have been able to tell we were both nervous because he started the conversation. Either that, or he had enough of the silence. "Hello? Can I help you with something?" I could tell he was a vampire, as he had the same golden eyes as me and Jasper had gotten from going Vegetarian. As he said that, a young-looking girl walked behind him, looking straight at us before leaving. The man turned around to see who it was before looking back at us.

"Um, hi." Jasper spoke quietly, but he could see I wasn't saying anything any time soon. "I'm Jasper, and this is Alice. Um…" He'd ran out of things to say already. It was a great start we were having.

"Hi, Jasper. Hi, Alice." The man's voice was feathery and kind. He had a soft, British accent. "I can tell you're a little nervous. I don't know why you're here but, do you want to come in? I can see you two are vampires as well."

"If you don't mind, sir."

"Not at all." And, he directed us in.

Me and Jasper sat on their sofa in the living room. I was sat quite comfortably looking around the room intrigued and yet Jasper sat beside me on the edge of his seat, fidgeting and nervous. The same man sat down in front of us, he had blond, short hair, like it was freshly cut. I thought he must be the one who owns the house. I was intrigued. I wanted to know how everyone knew each other. In the doorway I could see the blond that I saw behind the man earlier, standing leaning against the door. She looked just as interested in us as I was in them.

We purposefully went to their house then, because two of the more threatening boys, weren't there. I'd seen they were out in a vision I'd had.

"Rosalie, could you please go and get Esme? I'm sure she'll want to meet Alice and Jasper." The blond, Rosalie, reluctantly left and walked into another room. It looked like the kitchen. She came back a little while later with another woman. She had medium, brown, curly hair. She was average height and had a black, long skirt on. She looked very pretty. I couldn't get over how pretty everyone was in this house. It was different from the vision in that way, for some reason. Rosalie leaned on the door again but Esme sat extremely close to Carlisle. Once again, Carlisle was the first to speak. "This is my wife Esme, and that's my posing daughter, Rosalie standing in the doorway. This is Alice and Jasper."

"Hi, it's lovely to meet you both. Do we know you or?" Esme asked, understandably confused.

"No, but we know you." I said finally overcoming the nerves. "You see. I have…" I hesitated and Jasper took my hand. He knew how nervous I got. Even though I couldn't remember my past, I didn't know of anyone else like me and Jasper. I was lucky enough to have found Jasper and for him not to judge me for my visions. That's one of the reasons why I love him so much. Jasper had powers too. He could feel and control people emotions. He promised to never control mine, though. A good and a bad thing.

"I have visions." I continued quickly. Rosalie began to walk forwards interested. "And, I'd had one of Jasper before we met so I already knew him when I really did meet him, and I had one of you three as well. I know there are five of you, three men, two women. I knew what you, Rosalie, looked like but I didn't know your name, and the same with you, Carlisle. I'd seen you would welcome us to your family and help us as new, or new to this lifestyle, vampires." I took a breath of relief as I finished my speedy speech. Esme was smiling kindly at us, Rosalie was now sitting down beside me, and Jasper had sat further back on the sofa. It felt a lot more comfortable and friendly than before.

"Wow, that's something." Esme started. That didn't sound too good. But Carlisle seemed to have some good things to say. I liked him.

"Well, Alice. You're right. You are more than welcome to stay with us. That's just what we did with Rosalie and her brothers. They needed help in other ways and we helped them. Then, they stook around and now we can't get rid of them." He laughed. "You don't need to be so nervous. Everyone in this house is very nice."

"Thank you so much! We'll do whatever you want us to, to keep this secret."

"Well…" Rosalie said, "you could always pretend to be our siblings like me, Emmett and Edward are. It's a great cover. Carlisle and Esme are actually married and have jobs and so they pretend to be our parents and then we all go to high school as foster siblings. People find it a little weird that me and Emmett are dating but, we just point out that we aren't actually related and most people are okay with that."

"Rosalie, I've never heard you speak so much to someone you barely know, before." Carlisle giggled.

"Actually, I don't know about you Jasper. But I quite like that idea. We can say the same as Rosalie and Emmett do about the dating."

"Okay." He said shyly.

"We'll do that if that's an option."

"Of course, it is. Well, it's settled then. We can show you your room later if you want. I think Edward, and Emmett have just come back from hunting so you can meet them now as well if you want. Esme, could you just go and let them in? I think they forgot their keys today."

"They did. Emmett's key is still on our side table."

"I'll let them in then."

Carlisle sat talking to me a little bit more about my visions and our cover story while Esme went to let Edward and Emmett in. Rosalie followed, presumably because she wanted to see Emmett. We decided that I should take the last name Cullen, and Jasper, looking so much like Rosalie, should take Hale and be her twin brother that was sent with another family. Jasper still sat in silence, but it all changed when the boys came in. They sat across from us (they had already been told everything Esme knew before they came in) and started asking us both loads of questions.

"So, Jasper?" Edward asked. "Do you have a power? It's not a foreign concept to me because I can read minds but I tend not to unless I know it'll be funny or its necessary."

"I can control and feel people's emotions."

"Wow! Really?!" Emmett asked excitedly.

"Yep."

"Your powers are so cool! I get a bit more strength than the average vampire but you can see the future, and you can control emotions!?"

"Wasn't the best power though when some vampire woman is forcing you to train new born's because you're a good fighter and you can feel it when you kill the new born's at the end."

"Yeah, that would suck." Edward said.

I thought it was really nice. Just talking to them all. That night, we were asked more questions, we played board games together, me and Jasper saw our new room and we got to know them a lot better. It was amazing. And the rest is history, I guess.

Present day

"Aww, you guys are all so nice!"

"Bell, you only just noticing?" Edward said with a smirk on his face and a fake flick of his hair. We sat laughing at him.

"I'm really glad you've remembered, Al. You've been wanting to for so long. Just sorry for what happened to you."

"Thanks, Carlisle. I'm happy too because as upsetting as the story is for me, it's my past, and it's my family and friends that I'm remembering. So, like I say, I'm glad too!" We all turned around and snuggled up in front of the fire to watch a movie for the night.
