"In my experience, there is no such thing as luck."
"Move it, soldier! Move! Move! Move!" screamed Captain Rex as he jumped over a boulder landing on his two feet. Spec was right behind him followed by Ashoka. Dashing through the trees with explosions not far off by 6 and 5 o'clock. Rex had a UNSC-graded Assault Rifle in hand and would turn around to spray automatic fire into the forest behind him. Spec had no weapon and Ashoka had her singular green blade deactivated on her belt in hopes that it would be easier for them not to follow them.
Rustling of bushes and trees, hearts pounded with adrenaline vigor.
The return fire from somewhere deep in the woods added a scary sense of dread as any of those bullets could have their names on it. They could hear thick trees rocking heavily telling that the pursuer was not far behind.
Eventually, they could see a gap in the trees, a clearing. The light was sagar and welcoming compared to the shaded half-dimmed area of Mother Nature beforehand.
Rex pointed out, "There! to the clearing!"
Coming into the light they were slightly blinded from the quick exposure to the sun. A crashing waterfall coming from a small river descending to the bottom of a thirty-foot chasm laid between two huge smoothed rock faces. Their eroded bodies told of how old this natural structure was. To the right was the opening to a huge valley with a huge chasm that lay between this forest. The Gorge was about fifty feet wide, and the waterfall was too rapid at the base to go through.
Hearing the shots getting closer and closer the Captain had quick thinking. He looked to the left and right, then down.
"We have to climb our way down," he said.
The valley below was only thirty feet pooling into a body of water created by the waterfall. The river bed below had huge boulders and rocks like any would, shaded and away by the sunlight and out of its embrace.
The two Clones and Ashoka came close to the edge before getting on their knees and turning around. Rocks rubbled around as heavy breaths were the only immediate sound following the gunfire now in front of them.
Rock climbing down the face it was a bit of a fall and specifically Spec. He did his best to not look down, however, this was a scary case. A few pebbles rippled off his foot and drifted to the surface below landing in the pool of water. He could see the bellows of them hitting and it did not ease the feeling.
"Why is it always heights," moaned Spec.
Rex began to climb down the slope, "Keep moving trooper."
Ashoka followed behind Spec down the line in the rocks. The cavern had a singular ease or path of least resistance that Rex scouted briefly. The three came down the slope with slow carefulness. The booming of bullets would cease, and this would shock them.
Rex tossed his rifle out of his hand to some bushes twenty feet below. Seeing no visible damage on the weapon it freed his hands to be used for the current task of climbing.
Middle of the gorge looking up at the sun was blocked by the rock face, and below was the cavern. In the center of the madness, the incoming booms of rifles faded into an echo as their sound carried into the cavernous rock below.
Shuffling downwards into the chasm, Rex stopped shushing quickly to Spec and Ashoka. Both of them returned the gesture and halted in their tracks as well (the sounds of a few pebbles falling below followed).
They could hear heavy footsteps, multiple on top of the ridge where they just were. Gravel shuffled around in a literal way clanking against one another. As they came closer almost to the edge itself they stopped for a moment. They could not see them, but they could hear.
"Clear," said a male voice.
A female one responded, "They could not have gotten far."
A third time came out deeper than the others, "Spread out Osiris! Buck, Vale, take the ridge to the East, I will go with Tanaka to the South."
They all responded in various ways.
"Got it, sir."
"Yes sir."
"You're the boss."
As they went around the crevice, they went down the sight of the ridge out of view. The group hiding could not see them but they could hear them walking away. Sounds of steps continued to the point of nothingness as it slowly faded over the trembling waterfall. Giving it a good few seconds before anything, Captain Rex slightly hushed,
"Keep going."
Taking a moment to breathe the muscles were starting to be strained and worn from holding that position for so long. Only slight gasping was heard from the three of them as they finally reached the canyon floor. The river bed had huge rocks covered from the sun by shade from its position in the sky. Shook the arms and legs giving the limbs a moment to relax.
"They will always be back," said Rex, continuing going over to pick up the assault rifle, "they always do."
The walk through the trees below was less than exhilarating. Over the riverbed that did cover (due to the sounds of the waterfall) their footsteps the three came silently through the woodline up ahead. A feeling of uncertainty and unease came over my shoulder. As if someone was gazing over them. Looming over the soul like an unwanted omen, the horrific emotion of feeling watched was there lingering. The trees masked the glaring sun acting as the usual nature blanket. Thick bushes scattered around with occasional hickory making the landscape fairly difficult to navigate. Peering through the scenery was another opening but coming into a small grassy field.
The group stopped for a moment, Rex turned to Spec and Ashoka, "Too risky to go into an open field. Let's go around and stay out of sight."
"Wouldn't staying in the forest on the game trails be just as risky?" questioned Ashoka.
"We don't have much of an option here Commander."
"But I-"
"Listen I get your Commander and I am the Captain, but right now, I have twice the amount of survival experience and have been in these scenarios four times now. Trust me when I say, we want to be out of sight."
"Fine," she agreed with a clear tone of defiance.
Realizing her annoyance, he huffed, "I am sorry, I didn't mean it that way."
"No, it's fine… I am used to it by now."
"You and me both," added Spec with an exasperated voice.
The Captain turned to his Private with an unfriendly glare that any Clone could read. Visual facial features may be blocked, but there were still ques that still could be picked up. Clones have nicknamed this 'helmface,' when expressing emotions with the physical movement of just the helmet.
Seeing such a negative stern look from his Captain Spec immediately responded, "Not from you Capatian, never."
Turning back to Ashoka, Rex grunted as he stepped over a downed tree, "What do you mean?"
"Well," she paused, coming over the same log in the road, "I became a Padawan so fast and I was ahead of my training, but no one takes me seriously."
"Every Jedi has their hurdles. I know what you can do, which is why I acted that way. Responsibility comes with experience, and you just need some more. Even General Skywalker was in your position once."
"Wait… Really?" she said, surprised.
He remembered in slight nostalgia, "Yea hah. I was just promoted to Captain, and they told me I was gonna be in command of my battalion… the 501st. Only led one mission with them until General Skywalker came along."
"How'd you meet?"
"How does it feel to be a Captain now?" a Clone Naval Officer came behind Rex and smacked him on the back.
"Yea it comes with its perks," said Rex.
"And well," he got real close and slightly whispered with a sarcastic smile. "Its downsides."
Both Clones laughed, a field officer and a deck officer. One never saw actual combat and was tasked with the duties of the ship itself. While the other was a soldier, a war officer. Most of the time the soldiers looked down on the deck enlisted or officers seeing them as 'lower tier' as they never experienced 'real combat', but for Rex, this was not the case. All equal in his eyes, and sometimes watching the war unfold from a huge warship can be scarier than in the trenches on the front lines. These two were on the bridge of a Republic Venator enjoying the still moment. An operation was about to commence, and these joyous opportunities gave them a shadow of humanity… the right to Be Human. They were yes Clones, but they still did not want to fight, and honestly, these fun scenes in their service were sometimes one to live for.
The two Clones chatted away for lack of a better term and empty deck. Normally a bridge such as this would host over fifty members of staff to work here. Adrift in space one could see the blanket of stars coating the universe in all its sprinkled glory.
The two laughed away just talking with the usual catch-up. Rex personally never knew the guy and this was the first time the two had even met for that matter. But the beauty of being a Clone is that they were Clones… they knew what the other liked and how they talked. Of course, each was different to a certain degree, but on the surface, they were the same.
"Say what was your name?" asked Rex.
He coughed, "Baron, sir."
"Well Baron, I think-"
All thought was cut short as the bay doors opened from behind. Sliding automatically, it revealed just one man. A Jedi General from the looks of it. A tan tunic with white clone armor at the shoulder and wrist gauntlets. Personally, Jedi sometimes refused to wear it thinking it was too clunky or it would slow them down. But seeing their own Commander, a General, wear a Clones armor, was very humbling and inspiring, bringing them one step closer to humanity.
Brown beard and thick hair, this Jedi's sharp blue eyes pierced all attention given into the room.
"Lieutenant Rex," said the Jedi with a slight accent, "always good to see a familiar face."
"It is Captain now sir, General Kenobi."
"Ah, I see, quite wonderful."
Baron gave a quick salute, "General."
"No need Sergeant," responded Kenobi with a smile then turned back to Rex, "Now for you Captain, the work you did on Gartevo was excellent work."
In that moment the officer could not help but look down to the ground in remembrance. The weight of the world was upon his shoulders and being that it was his first over-seen mission on his own he had a special attachment to it. Especially afterward when he had to obtain the poll after the city of Gartevo was liberated. The poll of the fallen Clones that is. A lot more than the simulations in the first initial briefing had predicted… almost fifteen percent more. Rex could not help but feel responsible for them, not just as their officer but also as their guardian.
Taking a heavy breath reflecting on the situation, "We lost a lot of good men down there."
Kenobi got a quick and acute jab in the Force, sensing the grief from the Trooper, "I know… it is the horrible consequence of war."
After a quick second to take in the somberance, the Jedi continued, "Which is why the council in the War Meeting deemed that your newly formed battalion should receive a Jedi Knight as its commander, to aid you and your forces on the field to limit those damages in the future."
"A Jedi?" Who is it?"
Kenobi chuckled, "Come now, I will show you."
As the two walked down the hall, Rex received a few respectful quick salutes. Mostly due to his promotion. One thing the brothers do is that they always respect an officer especially after a promotion. It is very important to them. Passing through a few troops of clones carrying their rifles, wheeling off crates, and every other busy culture that you would expect in a Republic Venator.
"All good things from the meeting sir?" Asked Rex
"Oh you know," he amused himself with a quick laugh, "the usual politics and planning and whatnot, not my kind of event but it was educational."
A moment of quick stillness came as they approached the main hangar, "ah, we are here," said Kenobi.
Throughout all the working mechanics and crew it was nice to see this warship now in full capacity and operation, especially after the last mission and its operation. Working around a couple of workers and LAAT's, there was a ship sticking out of view.
A Delta-7 fighter sat perfectly amongst the center of a repaired docking bay. Surprisingly, not a single mechanic was on site. Strange, Rex would have thought, this is the repair-bay, and the mechanics are not on break until another shift. What the heck is going on?
Did they just leave?
As the approached the ship they could hear someone working on the underside. A skateboard type rack rolled out from under and a man came out with a faint grin. He had mechanic oil scruff on his hair and some on his cheek. A blue Jedi robe with dark durasteel clone armor. Strange, Red had never seen something like this.
The man got up from his reclined position and stuck out his hand, handshaking the clone trooper.
"So you must be Captain Rex," he said, "I am Commander Skywalker, you new Commanding Officer."
His frame was smaller than expected. The infamous Skywalker as his officer… he's younger than everyone piped him out to be. Rex could see the hunger in his eyes, one that not a lot of Jedi have, however this was dangerous if uncontrolled. Not that the Caprain did not trust his new Commander, but it was a wary thought to have. He was young, and possibly inexperienced. Clones naturally had a irk deep down whenever an unexperienced Jedi Officer was above them. Of course the troopers and enlisted only listened to their Clone officers, however, the officers had to subscribe to the Jedi, which was an interesting domain to enter.
"It is a pleasure Commander, I and Captain Rex."
"Pleasure is all mine," he said with a slight smile.
"Woah that's not what I expected," Ashoka said with a slight thought of interest to what was.
Spec added with a slight chuckle, "I had no clue General Skywalker was like that."
Taking a thought to recollect on the memory, Captain Rex remembered it himself with his sense of humor, "Yeah everyone starts from somewhere. A lot can change someone in just a year of this war."
"You can say that again," her tone was slightly sarcastic.
The forest was just getting to dusk. Sun came over to the north mountains resting just above their ridgeline. Strange on this side of the hemisphere as the star rose in the west and set in the North, but the poles with the geographical magnitude of the atmosphere were perfect for life.
Nightlife could work in their favor, as the cover of the darkness acted as a blanket. However, they did not know the nightlife or its potential dangers. Historically evolution across the cosmos has relatively stayed the same… predators are most active in the cloak of the absence of light.
They could still see for a could fifth meters of visibility, and birds in the trees began to quiet as their daily routines died down. The main game trail was visible but padded down from active animals that rummaged about.
At that point, since the light was scarce, the blue glowing holographic display of the UNSC Assault Rifle came as more of a notice. Given the chance, the Captain inspected the weapon in honorable recognition. The design was like any blaster but it was a 'slug thrower' or firing kinetic ammunition… bullets. Archaic and old it was almost an ancient concept. But fully automatic at the same time, it was quite well designed and made for standard issue. Immediately he could find the magazine release, the safety, and the backward stock release for ease of comfort. Now the letters and symbols he could not even begin to read… but the soldier could easily figure out the weapon. After all… a firearm is still a firearm.
And any soldier needs to be accustomed to the weapons they are using.
But now at one point, the Jedi Padawan felt something off. She struck her hand to her two fingers to her face. Squinted mouth and eyes it was honed and penetrating.
"What's wrong Commander?" asked Spec seeing her reaction first.
She grunted before getting on one knee and opening her eyes, "I don't know but I don't feel alright," running her fingers along the trail below, they could hardly see the path. Dimmed to just a dirtway with no features or indentations, just the abstract view of the natured road.
Moving passed something, she winced, "uh Rex?"
Rex reached to his helmet and turned on his flashlight on the side of his helmet. It revealed a huge track. Paw shaped like a mammal, but with huge claws as long as their fingers each. Impressions in the ground much deeper in the ground than their own footprints (that they did their best to cover behind).
These, easily an inch pressed into the ground shocking the three just seeing the size and weight of the thing.
"What?" mumbled Rex. Inspecting the tracks, he could see it peered off into the woods. Bushes moved and splayed, they were separated from one another telling of the sheer size of the of this creature in mass.
"It went that way," he pointed, "I wouldn't wanna stick around. Ground is still wet as it rained earlier, means this thing could still be around."
"That thing has to weigh half as much as a tank!" exclaimed Spec seeing the tracks too.
Ashoka got back up grunting, "Yeah we don't need to be its next meal."
Turning off his flashlight Rex pulled down the antenna from the side of his helmet in front of him. Dusk had come and the light was just about gone. Into the dark of night there was barely enough light from the stars, and most was covered by the canopy of trees above. They few that made it through anyway.
The antenna acted as multiple different uses. Communication arrays, short wave radio scanners, metal detectors, but in this case, close range night vision.
Green in color through Rex's visor revealed the scenery around. "Night Eyes" as the Clones have nicknames it, gave extra vision and amplied any light shown around giving it extra quality. Translucent waves came over in the from of outlines gifted an extra ten meters of sight.
It was nice for him as he was now at the front of the line guiding the group. At night it seemed that movement into the woods such as this slowed from the fear of the unknown, especially with those tracks in the back of the mind.
They approached a slight incline, it blocked the cloud cover and trunks displayed out from the trees as they coated the whole hillside. Not a steep hill, but the trees growing here painfully adjusted.
Captain Rex instinctually stuck up his fist again telling the group behind him to stop. Responding too in silence, shocked and in high alert to the surroundings. Sight was not a luxury here, they needed to rely on the sense of hearing.
Squatting low, they all listened in stillness as he picked up a few rocks on the ground.
"Gravel," he whispered, "we are on a paved path."
Following was a faint phrase from Ashoka, "Rex what is that?"
A pair of white eyes in the bushes got her eye. Eyeshine, the reflection that animals have to keep the intake of light in the deep breath of the voidness of the night. These glowing bulbs however, huge and much bigger than they should be.
The group turned to the direction behind them into the woods where this eyeshine was. About twenty meters into the bushes it was almost unnoticeable had Ashoka not caught it.
Rex, gasped in horror. He could see it perfectly with the nightvision. A hulking mass low to the ground but visible. It was just staring at them watching. As a soldier's first training taught him he snapped the rifle to the creature's direction. Rifle down range his finger was tightly gripped around the trigger with the safety off.
In response, the eyes went up. Not forward.
But up.
Growing in elevation slowly this thing had a huge intimidating factor. The white orbs of light that were eyes were now teen solid feet off the ground. Bulking mass that was impossible to see through. Size was unimaginable and no one had ever seen such a thing like this. Even the mighty Blurgg's had never gotten this tall.
Hearing grunts and low bellows the three backed up a bit as it took two steps into the clearer starlight up above. Brown and massive it had huge arms with long claws. Short round ears on the top of its head, and a long snout. White teeth were showing as it snarled reflecting off what little light there was.
Growling louder, they had no idea what this was.
"By the Force!" stated Spec with hesitation in his tone, "what the hell is that?!"
The Kodiak Grizzley, introduced to this colony about a dozen years ago. One of the largest land mammals in the entire registered United Earth Government's databaze. Native to tbe Mother World of Earth, they werr brought here to keep the local pests like smaller breeds of Moa under control as they bred just as fast as rabbits.
But the Kodiak has developed quite a taste for their young (Moa's are coward's and do not even defend their young). Unfortunelty, the strain of DNA of bear released into the wild around New Kongwere heavy in the male populuce in the reproductive area… making the males more violent, bold… and most dangerously, territorial.
"Move up the hill!" hollered Rex opening fire with his rifle, "I will cover!"
Bullets seemingly bounced off the hide of the Grizzley. Roaring deeply, saliva flew out from its mouth as it dropped down to all fours. Charging straight to Rex it cleared those twenty meters in only a few gallops. One clould hear the heavy weight of this monster. Powerful and meaty, not something to mess with what so ever.
Opening with the trigger held, full auto bursted into the face and shoulders of the beast. Literally all it seemingly did was piss it off or missed entirely. Just as the bear was about to bash and make contact to the 501st Captain, he dolphin dived out of the way, his ankle in slow motiom just barely missing the monsters horrific jaws.
Crashing into the mud he turned around and continued fire into the side of the creature as it turned with such quick agility back to Rex. After two seconds the bullets stopped and orange fireballs ceased. All that was left was the demonic glowing white eyes. But what was seen was a growing devilish smile. It knew its prey had no more puny defenses to withstand it.
In the dreadful moments as Rex stared what was death itself in the face, he took a quick breath to Ashoka Tano elegantly leaping over the Grizzely igniting her green lightsaber reavling the brush and trees around in its exposing colors. Green refracting off green it echoed the color much father than any other color could do in the forest.
Landing right in front of her Captain, she slashed around a few warning swipes. The bear not caring really leaped to her in a roaring fury. Ducking slightly under the jump, but still within the jaws line, a quick upwards swipe diagonally above followed. It was so quick at Jedi speed even the Two Clones almost did not see it.
The head of the bear mid air was release from its shoulders. The orange burnt fur added light around from the black incinerated wounds. Body and head rolled a few feet in a deathly husked manner. A thousand plus pounds of fur and meat discombobilating as the controller of the nervous system was removed from its position. Tilting a bit before coming to a complete stop, the slap of muscle was heard from both pieces of the body as the mouth loose dried air from the throat. Eyes still half opened and body twitching once, this was grousome scene.
Rex and Spec took a moment to breathe, and Ashoka simply grinned recaptivating her saber before attaching it to her hilt.
She turned around, swaying her hips to the side with fists on her belt, "see boys that wasn't so hard?"
Both them did not respond but just panted a little. Rex stood up, and continued to the hill they were just at.
"We gotta get out of here, anyone could have heard that gunfire."
"Right," added Spec, "mind if we see where this gravel road leads sir?"
Two Spartan Fours slowly moved in the night in the woods. Slightly speedwalking they silently looked for any sign of the escapee's. Buck, who had the infamous ODST helmet and an asetical design to his armor resembling almost the Mk. IV, stuck out as a sore thumb for someone of older military preferences and prowess. Visor was a deep gray almost green in some lights, and armor was military silver.
Vale, slender and smaller. But do not mistake small for insignificant. Modern MJOLNIR, her armor was apart of the test subjects for the top secret ANVIL program, a new line of armor for the Spartans. Curved helmet with a blue visor, she always preferred to be up close and personal like Buck, hence why they always preferred to work together as a striketeam.
Buck at one point laid his hand to a tree hoping to feel something with his handy tracking skills. He was not exactly picking up anything, but there still was something here.
"Damn these guys are good," he said.
Vale chuckled, "you admire them?"
"Just their ability to cover their tracks surprised me."
"Hm, you keep thinking that."
Birds popped from the trees squaking and croaking in various sounds fleeing in terror. Gunshots filled the whole area in the distance to the north. Straight automatic fire without stopping for a few moments.
Visors glared as the light from within their helmets and upon their armor glowed turning almost a natural bioluminescent. Revealing their location hidden amongst the trees in plain sight, Vale turned to Buck who was right next to her,
"Here we go."
Up the gravel road, Rex was right. Curving around about a hundred meters was a building. Mushroom shaped almost, with a stem with a pair of ladders on each side covered in a cage protecting it. To the top was an observation deck circular with railings and a metal walkway the curved around to the whole building. Now the structure itself was about forty feet in diameter with the base of the stem holding it up was a giant cement pillar about five feet thick and about twenty feet high. Strange design for any building for the two Clones and the Jedi by observation, but anything works at this point. They could see lights from the inside windows telling at least someone was home.
Rex and Spec approached one side, and Ashoka the other. They went up as quietly as possible. Clinks and clanks from the metal were inevitable but they did their best to muffle it going up. Squatting low below the window line they could hear brief chatter inside.
A quick nod to Ashoka was given by Rex as she jumped quietly to the roof of the domed watch tower. Completely silent, it was amazing that in the Force something could leap, bound, pass the normal realm of physics, and land with little to no sound created. She winced a bit crawling up to the top of the dome.
A giant opening wheel of sorts acting as a lever above was their blatant. She turned it super slow, making sure not to make any subtle movements. Gears within the shaft rotated and clicked ever so slightly. Eventually, at the end of rotating a few times, there was a faint popping sound as the pressure within the hatch released.
Using the force to glide herself inside, she landed almost with no weight to her fall. At that point Rex and Spec stood up catching both Marine Guards attention.
"What the-" one of them said confused.
From behind not realizing came Ashoka leaping forward with her foot landing a nasty side kick to the back of one of the men. The force from it smashed him over the mounted control table and into the window cracking the glass. The second man took a swipe at her with a cross which she avoided with a backward kickflip onto the back of the room.
At this point, Spec and Rex rushed into the room and tackled the marine broadsiding his attention. All three collided into the ground as the man did his best to fight back. Spec held him down and Rex delivered three quick punches to the face of the man taking out his consciousness.
The silence came back as the situation died down. Spec took a look around the room to these strange control centers so alien and different to anything he had ever seen. He huffed once in confusion,
"How do we work this thing?"
Ashoka veered around to the asleep groaning bodies of the men. One of the chairs the previous one was sitting in had a pair of headphones attached to a cable. She moved over, and put the ears on hearing only static. Around in front of her was a metal rod with a black foam nub at the end. This was indeed in fact a microphone, but she had no idea what this was. Rubbing her finer once on it she could hear the sensation in the speakers. A quick gasp was heard as she turned to Rex
"I think this is a transmitter!"
Rex stood behind the girl and looked down with a squint in his eye. Gazing at the controls in front of her he tried to figure out what type of transmitter it was… if it was one at all.
"Is it safe to use sir?" said Spec.
Slightly ignoring his question Rex continued, "I got an idea," he motioned for Ashoka to stand up. She did and the Captain sat down, hands hovering above this control pad.
"This is definitely something," he stated pointing down, "red light next to a switch?" He quickly flicked it up and down. The light turned from red to green following the lever, "yeah this is a transmitter."
"What are you gonna say? They know it will be us?" Spec added again.
Rex took a breath and turned on the transmitter making the light turn green. Right before he was about to speak a voice from behind caught the three's attention.
"Now look what we have here, catch of the day?"
All of them turned to face a six and an almost seven foot tall soldier. Dark gray covered from head to toe in his armor. The exact same helmet from the men they saw on the base, an ODST helmet in fact. He had a rifle pointed straight at them, and chuckled continuing his retort, "well well well, this is a fine predicament yall got yourselves into?"
The three of them raised their arms for half in a surrender of sorts seeing that they were too out of reach from their blade. Seeing the discontent on Ashoka's face, he immediately pointed her out,
"Don't even think about reaching for that blade missy unless you want to find out if you're faster than a bullet," he turned to his com link for a half second, "Vale this is Buck, I got them."
Hey y'all, thank you for waiting all this time. It's been very busy and my new job. I've been working overtime trying to save up so I haven't had a lot of time to write BUT! We shall still make efforts to continue. I will keep this going don't worry I love this story and y'all too much! The summer was fantastic, and I got a lot of hours in… And obviously the most important as I got a new girlfriend! So that's wonderful! Not really looking forward to Star Wars outlaws that looks like a moneygrubbing dumpster fire not gonna lie. And any new halo updates have been pretty stagnant, although I have noticed a lot of fan creation and fan films for halo coming out recently. Which is always nice to see.
Anyway, I'm gonna get to comments!
SupremeSongLeader - yea there's a lot of theories I have with this, and I can't wait to put them in the practice, I've been reading a lot of books recently. Especially the halo because Star Wars is a lot more fanatic and changing whereas halo lore is pretty consistent. although I'm actually pretty surprised, right, I was writing my other story and I was doing research for halo and I noticed specifically the covenant doesn't have a lot of worldbuilding. There's a lot about the covenant that's pretty much unknown other than their foundation and how the species were gathered to the covenant… And a few arbiters mentioned here and there, there's not a lot to be known amongst in their history. Which is actually pretty weird… considering that they're the main enemy in the halo series lol
Anyway, I'm rambling, the reason why I mentioned that is because I'm trying to fill in a lot of gaps here and there especially considering that post halo three is a lot of that either assumed or just not known, especially considering that half of Halo 4 is just on the four runners, which leaves modern halo kind of empty in terms of postmodern gameplay lore. Battlefront Classic Collection as you said it was pretty weird on lunch, but unfortunately, it wasn't able to recover. 90% of games when they have a buggy launch have almost little to no chance of recovering. This is almost a true trend in every demographic for some reason.
Guest - I have so many plans for this, and actually, I was in so much deep thought around this because general grievous is kind of let's be honest here… a dick. he's pretty arrogant and kind of narcissistic in his own ways, which makes him hard to work with, which I do admit does make it a hard sell, but if I do it right, it'll make it a very GOOD sell. Lol so now it's my job not to fuck it up.
Guest - I'm not really too familiar with the Star Wars Legends Stuff, which is why I tend to stick to a lot of halo books because most of Star Wars stuff is either outsourced or hardly mentioned. And then on top of that Star Wars has almost 50 years worth of worldbuilding halo only has 20.
NovaDova - it'll probably be leans that way, but you never know who knows how it might go? That is a very good point to make about the world war, because propaganda is key. That's why I'm with the story. I was trying to focus more on the politics of each government rather than the military side itself because I think that's more of an interesting book to read in my opinion.
Guest - WHO KNOWS MAYBE MAYBE NOT?!
Random Guest - oh definitely, and in fact, here's a counterpoint. I'm actually going to mention a little bit of the Republic's war crimes. Star Wars the clone wars is 90% of the time from the Republic perspective, and if I was in charge of Disney, I personally would probably make Star Wars, the clone wars from the separatist perspective. This is because I do admit The separate commit war crimes, but the Republic, so the point of that would be to show that there's no such thing as black-and-white… Everything is gray. The third movie of Star Wars kind of touched a little bit, but I think it could've gotten a little deeper.
Rain Everwood -I do love it too, which is why I started this whole story, mostly because general grievous is my favorite character in all Star Wars, and because I really didn't like that the clone wars made them out to be some childish goober of a character that just scurries away every time he gets attacked like Jesse and James from Pokemon lol.
Sometimes people forget actually, how much influence General grievous had on the war. He was nicknamed as the Jedi killer, he was killing knights and Padawan. It's such a staggering rate that some Jedi were rushed in their training (take Ashoka in the TCW movie for example or even Anakin in the original CW Cartoon from 2002). His collection per se of Labers was in the dozens so high to the point where later I think it was in the book retribution, a bunch of rebel soldiers came across his collection and estimated that there was at least 2 to 300 light sabers in there, that says a lot.
Which is why I hated The Cartoon Network clone wars. They made them out to be some cartoon character with no sense of fear or dread. I get it. It's a kid show, but like they could've gone a little bit darker than their… I mean, come on the clone wars really isn't a "kids" show.
TheBobinat0r - that was kind of a big priority for me because I think all three of the characters are very conflicting to one another, but they also add good insight in different perspectives to every single scene.
Jack Redhawke - well also I kind of set up the scene for it to be forced this way, and besides the United Nations space command will very much see that there are multiple rebellions that the republic is going to sponsor throughout the war so with that logic, it's a two-way street. In my opinion.
