"We're gonna start training together?" Midoriya tilted his head as he spoke with Bakugo.
Midoriya has made it home safely after his encounter with the Sludge Villain. The freckled boy even mentioned to his family his meeting with All Might, not mentioning the sludge attack to not scare his mother, which impressed everyone but his childhood friend, who was pissed since he got an autograph from his favorite hero.
As they finish eating and talking with themselves, Izuku and Katsuki volunteer to wash the dishes. It gave them time to talk about the Entrance Exam at U.A. and what they will do to prepare in the meantime. It was Bakugo who suggested that they should train with each other, which surprised Midoriya.
"Yeah, train! Why are you so surprised!" Bakugo replied.
"I didn't expect for you to want to train with me. You're usually the loner type to train by themselves." Midoriya said, handing Bakugo a washed plate for him to clean with a towel.
"Do you want to train with me or what!" Bakugo said as he screamed loud enough to startle their family on the table. "If you don't want to, then just say it already!"
"N-No it's alright. We could even study together in the meantime." Midoriya said, continuing to mumble a storm, thinking of the possibilities they could study for, or train for during the 10 months of prep.
"Oi, shut up already!" Bakugo said, snapping back Midoriya to reality. "We start tomorrow early in the morning. We run until someone dies of exhaustion." Bakugo said, scaring Midoriya.
On the table, Inko, Mitsuki, and Masaru looked at the two young boys with a smile. Mitsuki and Inko smiled happily as they remembered their times when they were in High School, and the time where they met Masaru and Hisashi. Inko saw her husband in Izuku, and she can't wait to see his boy succeed in his dreams.
Day 2
"DIE!" Bakugo screamed, hitting Midoriya with a right hook of explosions only for him to counter with a judo throw, causing Bakugo to hit hard on the concrete floor. Midoriya, tired as well, sits down next to his rival, catching his breath before another sparring match begins.
A day would pass and both teens would train all day, only stopping when both rivals could no longer walk no more. Bakugo found an abandoned building that seemed to be a perfect spot to train on, since it was either that or a beach with lots of trash. They would sometimes move the trash, but the majority of the time they would spar.
Even though they had school, Bakugo would come over and study with Izuku for the writing part of the Entrance Exams. They would usually stay up all day to remember everything they wrote in their notes, to the dismay of Inko who cared about the boy's health.
"Again…" Midoriya lazily exclaimed, still tired from their sparring match. "Round 12…"
Bakugo looked at him and grinned, "Bring it on, Deku!"
Month 1
"As architectural standards changed to reflect the existence of those with superpowers, the minister of infrastructure…" As the teacher continued to lecture, Izuku couldn't help but think.
Only 9 months left and it feels likey I am missing something. For the past month, Izuku would attack and dodge every attack from Bakugo, but he became too predictable in his dodging. If I remember correctly, mom would tell me dad can walk up walls and stuff, but how? I tried multiple times but failed all the time. Could it be because of Chakra? Maybe he left a book or something, a journal that he wrote down for me to find.
Izuku kept mumbling on and on, not paying attention that he began to speak out loud, which caused his classmates, including his teacher to notice him. "Hey, Midoriya. Did you hit your head or something?" His teacher said, chopping Midoriya's head to shut him up.
The class chuckled at Midoriya's antics, not knowing that Bakugo looked at him, knowing that he thought about something.
Month 5
Both teens finished cleaning off the beach for their physical training, but they still have a long way to go for U.A. Izuku started to look for information on the internet, about the possibility of walking up trees or something that his father used to do when he was a hero.
"When I think about it, your father left some of his old books in his studies. You can check them if you want." Inko said to her son, preparing for dinner. Of course, Izuku didn't mention his mother about his questions for the past months.
Izuku went inside the studies and saw that his mother kept it clean for the many years Izuku was alive. He looked at his book shelf and saw only an encyclopedia of trees and hero work back in the old days. What he found was just "HOW TO GAMBLE FOR DUMMIES" in a section of important books. Izuku was about to give up when he checked under his father's desk.
The book was titled, "CHAKRA CONTROL AND JUTSUS" He finally found the book he was looking for. He opened it and went page by page, seeing all of its context and secrets. Some of the stuff felt missing, since there was a page ripped out and with some Jutsus saying, Hand signs: Snake Ram Hare Dog Technique specific seal or Snake. It felt foreign to Izuku.
He turned the page and saw "Chakra Control for Beginners". He flipped through the pages and saw that the most important training to control your Chakra would be Tree Climbing Practice. Izuku continued reading.
Focus the Chakra on the bottoms of your feet and make them stick to the tree trunk. If you use Chakra well, you can climb any surface in no time. Accumulate the required amount of combined Chakra to the required spot. This is difficult. The amount of Chakra used for tree-climbing is very subtle. And the bottom of the feet are the most difficult place to gather Chakra. Mastering this means you can master any Jutsu.
The last part surprised him, Jutsu. That is what the techniques he uses are called. Learning this must be one step closer to becoming number one hero.
"Dinner's ready!" Inko said.
"Coming!" Izuku said, leaving his father's room with his book.
Later that night, Izuku woke up and sneakily left his room to go outside. He went to the nearby forest he and Katsuki used to explore as kids. He saw a tree, bigger than the ones nearby and got ready.
Izuku focused all his chakra at the bottom of his feet, causing small dust to blow away. He opened his eyes and began to run at it. "Let's go!" He began to walk up the tree, but within two steps, he slipped and hit his head in the process.
However, Izuku didn't give up, he got back up again and began to concentrate once more. This time, he put a lot of Chakra at his feet, then charged once more. He began to run up the tree, this time taken more steps before he slipped and landed on his feet.
If I put too much Chakra, then I get pushed back, but if it's too little there's no sticking power.
He then remembered that it has to be a perfect balance, so he kept on trying again and again and again. Ignoring the falls as he keeps charging at the tree.
2 Days Later
Izuku charged at the tree, this time making it longer than he originally got, but he still fell back to the ground. It infuriated Izuku. If he can't do it, then he can't be like his father. He won't be as great as All Might. He won't as great as–
"Izuku?" Izuku turned around and saw Inko staring at him with a worried face. "What are you doing here?"
"Uh, trying to walk up a tree." Izuku said, still a bit tired like before.
"I see that, but why are you doing this?" Inko said walking up to Izuku.
"I need to practice, mom. For the Entrance Exam." Izuku said. "I can't grow my skills, if I haven't mastered my Chakra control. I want to improve."
"What you need is sleep, Izuku." Inko said, giving her jacket to Izuku.
"I know, I just need to practice some more." Izuku said.
"It's the middle of the night. You have school tomorrow, so you better get inside right now." Inko said in a stern voice, surprising Izuku.
"No… I can't…" Izuku said.
"We both know I am not as strong as you," Inko said, looking at Izuku sulking. "But what I can do is help you with what you are feeling."
Izuku sighs, knowing that Inko would keep on prying if he keeps on being evasive. "This is important." Izuku showed the training book to Inko, who saw the person who wrote it, Hisashi Midoriya.
Inko sat next to Izuku, who did the same. "I remember when you were little, and you wore your All Might onesies everyday throughout the house, trying to save me from danger. You even showed me the types of hero names you would plan on using when you were older." Izuku remembered those memories as well. Although his father wasn't around, Inko tried everything with her power to make Izuku's childhood as happy as it can be. "When you become a hero, I can't talk to you when you fight villains, but I am still here." Inko then remembered Hisashi and how he used to see the bright side of things, just like how Izuku would if things ever go wrong. "It used to be me and your awesome hero of a father. Now it's just you and Katsuki, and your boring mom."
"Mom." Izuku said.
"It's fine, dear. I get it. You want to be a hero. You want to save everyone with a smile. You want to show people hope and justice, like your father." Inko said smiling.
"Yeah, but that's the thing. I never knew dad. I never see him in any videos of him saving someone or how he acted at all. I never get to say I love." Izuku said, dropping tears, which his mother noticed and hugged him.
"I know Izuku… I know…" Inko said, rubbing the back of Izuku.
"I just wish that I get to know him at all…" Izuku said, having more tears run down his cheek. "I have so much to live up to and I don't know that I could live up to all that."
"You don't have to live up to all of those expectations. You don't have to be your father or the greatest All Might to ever live. You just need to be you." Inko said.
"But what if I am not enough?" Izuku said.
Inko smiled and hugged her son with a warm smile, "How can you not be enough?"
Izuku whipped his tears, and smiled at his mother. The woman that he has known for all his life has proven yet again, that she is the greatest hero that he ever witnessed. "Thank you."
They both hugged each other once more before going to bed, excited for tomorrow.
2 More Days Later
"Oi, Deku! Where the hell are you!?" Katsuki screamed, looking for Izuku in the forest. He kept on walking before getting hit by a pebble on his head. "Who the hell threw that!?"
"Up here, Kacchan!" Katsuki looked up and saw Izuku, standing upside down on a tree branch, with a smug face to make Katsuki mad. "Look what I could do."
"How the hell you go up there!" Katsuki screamed, causing some birds to fly away due to being startled. "You better get down there or we are going to be late!"
Izuku chuckled, knowing that his power would just grow from there.
Month 10 - Day before the Entrance Exams
"Alright!" In the Bakugo's residence, they celebrate with the Midoriya's for the big day tomorrow. They studied, trained their bodies to grow, and improve their fighting skills for the exams.
"I'm so proud of my little angry boy." Mitsuki said, embarrassing and angering Katsuki at the same time. "You better pass or I will make fun of you."
"Shut up old hag!" said Katsuki.
"What the hell you said, you little brat!" replied Mitsuki.
As the two argued, Izuku couldn't help but smile. The family he has known is supporting him even more. It made him tear up a bit, which was seen by Masaru.
"You okay, Izuku?" Masaru asked, which Izuku nodded.
"Yeah, just excited is all." Izuku said.
"Hey, Izuku! When are you going to get a girlfriend?" Mitsuki said, making the boy blush as his mother giggles under her breath.
"Nah, I'm too focused on my studies. Besides, what are the chances I will have one?" Izuku said.
"Achoo!" A certain girl said, whipping her nose. "I hope I don't get sick."
A/N: Not gonna lie, I'm too excited for Invincible Season 2. I read ahead in the comics, and the poster just gets me too excited.
