The U.A. High School Hero Course is seen as the most prestigious school in the country. Popular heroes such as All Might, the symbol of peace; Endeavor, the man who stopped the most crimes than anyone else; and Best Jeanist, the winner of the Best Jeanest awards for eight years straight, attended the school. What many people, including hero nerds, don't know is that a hero who graduated from U.A. became known to many heroes as the God of Heroes.
Izuku and Katsuki finished their training for the Entrance Exams, but they decided to run in the morning, which was regretful. When they finished running, they rushed home, took a quick shower, and packed their bags. A forty-minute subway ride later, they finally made it to U.A. High School.
"We made it in time," said Izuku, sweating profusely due to running to be on time and being nervous. It was the day he would take the practical portion of the general entrance exam for U.A., so of course he would be nervous. It was time to use the moves he learned while training with Katsuki.
I feel like I'm going to vomit. I knew I shouldn't have ran with Kacchan this morning.
"Hurry up, Deku!" said Katsuki, stomping past Izuku, who was walking slowly in Katsuki's opinion. "You better get your head in the game before you get stomped by me."
"R-Right. I need to calm down…"Although Katsuki was blunt, he was right. Izuku needs to calm down and focus before he gets left behind in the dust.
I got to get a hold of myself… Izuku kept walking, even though his legs began to wobble. I just need to remember my training from the past ten months. I need to move forward to become the number one hero!
As Izuku takes a step forward, he trips, making him ready to tank a fall from the ground, but he doesn't get hurt. He looked to the ground and saw that he was floating in the air.
"Are you okay?" Izuku looked to his left and saw a short girl with auburn hair, which is styled shoulder-length with short bangs and is bobbed. She plopped Izuku back down and clapped her hands with a friendly smile, saying, "It's my quirk. Sorry for stopping you, but, well, it's a bad omen to trip and fall." She then sighed as she tried to be laid-back. "This is nerve-wracking."
"Yeah… tell me about it." said Izuku scratching the back of his head.
"Well, good luck to both of us. See ya." The girl waved goodbye as Izuku stood there with a smile.
Wait… I didn't say thank you… Izuku slumped down, defeated. "Dang it…"
"WELCOME TO TODAY'S LIVE PERFORMANCE!" The Voice Hero: Present Mic, he said, trying to hype up the room. "EVERYBODY SAY "HEY"!" Present Mic waited for a response from the crowd, but it was pure silence. "Well, that's cool, my examinee listeners! I'm here to present your practical guidelines! Are you ready? YEAHH!" Yet again, silence filled the room with only the mutters of Izuku.
"It's the voice hero, Present Mic. Wow…!" said Izuku, memorizing with a real hero in front of him. "I listen to his radio show every week. It's inspiring. Guess all the U.A. teachers are Pro heroes," said Izuku, muttering a storm, who kept on annoying Katsuki that was sitting next to him.
"Shaddup."
"This is how the test will go, my listeners! You'll be experiencing ten-minute-long "mock cityscape maneuvers"!" said Present Mic. "Bring along whatever you want! After this presentation, you'll each head to your assigned testing location! O.K.?!" Silence continued.
"That's so kids from the same middle school can't help each other out, yeah?" said Katsuki.
"And why consecutive I.D. numbers are assigned to different locations."
"I'll crush em all," replied Katsuki, "but too bad I won't crush you." Izuku sweat-dropped.
Present Mic pointed at the screen behind him. "Each site is filled with three kinds of faux villains. Points are awarded for defeating each according to their respective difficult levels! Use your quirks to disable these faux villains and earn points! That's your goal, listeners!" Present Mic continued, "Of course, playing the antihero and attacking other examinees is prohibited!"
"May I ask a question?!" A boy with blue hair and glasses, he said, raising his hand. "There appear to be no fewer than four varieties of faux villains on this handout!" said the boy with glasses, pointing at the paper. "Such a blatant error if it is highly unbecoming for U.A., Japan's top academy! We're all here today in the hopes of being molded into model heroes!" He got up and pointed behind him at none other than Izuku. "And you, with the curly hair! You've been muttering this whole time. It's distracting! If this is some sort of game to you, then please leave immediately."
"Sorry…"
"Idiot."
"Alright. Alright. Examinee 7111, nice catch. Thanks!" said Present Mic. "But the fourth faux villain variety gets you zero points! He's more of an obstacle! Have you played Super Mario Brothers?!" Present Mic further shows the examinee to the screen, showing the faux villain and a thwomp. "It's kind of like a Thwomp! Only one at each site! A "gimmick" that'll rampage around in close quarters!"
"I got it, so it's like a stage gimmick to be avoided." The boy then bowed at a perfect 90-degree angle. Really, it's like a video game, then. Thank you, sir. I apologize for the interruption!"
"That's all from me! I'll leave my listeners with our school motto. The great hero Napoleon Bonaparte once said, "True heroism consists in being superior to the ills of life." PLUS ULTRA! Break a leg, everyone!"
"So big," said Izuku, trembling over the sight of the huge mock cityscape. Some of the other examinees even memorized the scale of what the U.A. can do with their money. He looked around and saw how confident everyone was, with everybody not being nervous at all. Some even have equipment that improves their quirks. What Izuku saw specifically was the girl who had helped him before, doing breathing exercises to concentrate.
I should properly thank her for saving me from falling…
"That girl seems to be doing some kind of meditation." The blue haired boy from before looked at Izuku and stopped him from walking even further. "Why are you here? Hoping to interfere?"
"HIM TOO!"
As the blue haired boy schooled him, another examinee pointed and laughed at Izuku, who was sulking. The examinees called him an idiot, and told among themselves that he was less of a rival to worry about, which was wrong.
I should really stop getting myself into trouble.
"And… begin!" The voice of Present Mic echoed over the mock cityscape, grabbing the attention of the examinee. "What's wrong? The test's started! Run! Run!" Izuku was the first to run to get points. He used a huge amount of chakra on his feet to propel him forward. Something he learned when climbing up the tree. "Better hurry, the die is cast!"
Izuku was dusting the competition, making the examiner behind watching him gain points.
He began to rank up points, defeating 1 pointers in a beginning, transforming his hand into piercing woods, while summoning roots under the concrete floor for two pointer robots. He ranked up, getting more and more points as fast as possible.
"SIX MINUTES, TWO SECONDS REMAINING."
Alright, I have 39 points in total. They didn't tell us how many points we need to pass, but I need to keep on pushing! Izuku looked around, seeing only robot parts and rubble. The enemies… there's barely any left! Damn!
*THOOM*
The ground began to shake, causing everyone to standstill. Everyone looked up to the source of the rumbling and saw massive faux villains, bigger than any of the buildings nearby, destroying everything in its path. The thing that every examinee knew was to run away from the zero pointer.
The zero pointer looked down at the examinees as ants. The robot rumbled the way through buildings and anything else in its path, trying to grab anyone nearby it. The robot lifted its right arm and slammed it to a nearby building, causing it to collapse, sending debris and smoke everywhere in the cityscape.
Everyone around Izuku ran away, not caring to look back and fight the zero pointer. Their true colors are being shown by the zero pointer, when facing danger, their instincts kick in for hero work.
"Yeah, there's no way I can defeat that!" said Izuku, running away from the zero pointer. "I need to run and find more faux villains for points." Izuku kept on running, moving and dodging the falling debris. "I need more points or this entire training will be a waste!" He had to keep on running, he had to keep on getting points. He needs to do this so that he could start being a real–
"Oww…"
Izuku looked behind him and saw her. He saw the girl that saved him earlier. He saw her ankle being stuck in debris, unable to move from the coming zero pointer. Nobody else stopped and tried to help her, it was only him who saw her needing help. He looked at her struggling to get up, remembering what she said to him.
It's a bad omen to trip and fall.
Without thinking, Izuku ran towards the danger, knowing that he might die, but he would still save her from getting hurt even further. He used up some of his chakra to his feet and leaped up in front of the injured girl. Izuku clapped his hands together, feeling the earth around him, concentrating before he screamed out, "GREAT FOREST!"
Out from the ground, dense growth of trees split the ground as they sprout and pierce through the zero pointer, stopping in its tracks. Everyone in the exam was amazed, even the blue haired boy with glasses stopped seeing the immense unstoppable robot be stopped by nature itself, while the girl with the sprained ankle looked up and saw Izuku standing on the building, being amazed that someone is capable of such a feat.
One minute, five seconds remained, and Izuku Midoriya's current score: Ninety-Eight.
