Chapter 12. We discuss prophecies.

I didn't remember the rest of the party. I woke up the next morning in the park where we did makeup and met the pigeon. When I awoke I was laying down in the grass. I looked around and Sabrina and Glen were nearby. Glen was sleeping at the bottom of a slide and Sabrina was sprawled out on a picnic table.

I groaned as I tried to rejuvenate myself quickly before anyone found us. "Guys," I groaned. "We have to get moving," I tried to raise my voice so they could hear me from their sleeping spots.

Sabrina was beginning to stir. Glen didn't move at all. I would have thought he was dead if I didn't see his chest inflate with every breath he took. I slowly made my way to his slide. I burst out laughing when I saw his face. My laughter did the trick to wake him up.

"What's so funny?" He said slowly getting up rubbing his eyes.

I kept on chuckling. "It's just- he he your face. It looks like someone drew on your face".

On his face was a classic black marker mustache. On his left cheek were the words 'Bad boy'. Sabrina walked up to us, her hair was crazy and fuzzy. She didn't seem too happy, probably needed more sleep like the rest of us. When she saw Glen however she burst out laughing. Glen bolted up and started to wipe all over his face.

"I swear I'm going to kill someone," He kept vigorously rubbing all over until his face became red with irritation.

Sabrina quickly stopped laughing and shook her head. "What happened, we didn't drink that lemonade did we"?

"I don't think so. I didn't want anything to do with that weird drink," I told her.

"Same, must have been Dionysus doing, come on let's get going. We can't afford to miss the truck," Sabrina said, combing her crazy hair with her hand. Watching her with her bright blonde hair kind of made me wish I didn't throw away that pocket comb.

We started making our way north of the city. No one realized it but we slept in too late. We only had just less of an hour before ten. I wanted to start biting my nails but I was too busy looking for any sign of a D&B brewing factory.

Half an hour to ten Glen was starting to get antsy. He asked me to talk to a pigeon and ask for directions. I told him I didn't hear any pigeons talking to me and he tilted his head up and rolled his eyes. Luckily we did find a sign pointing to a factory.

We followed the sign and finally made it to Dionysus sons brewing factory. It was a small building but it reeked heavily of alcohol. We walked along the fence and observed the area. "Look over there," Sabrina said. She pointed to a semi truck that was backed in against the factory. In the back were two men in purple colors loading the trailer with boxes.

There was an open fence door we went through. We all were trying to be sneaky. It was hard since there weren't a lot of hiding spaces. It did make it better however that this factory seemed to lack parking lot cameras. Finally we made it to the front of the truck when Glen stopped us.

"Wait, how do we know this is the truck to California?" He asked. I shrugged and looked at Sabrina, who matched my shrug.

The workers started talking about something which got all of our attention. I looked under the truck and saw that they closed the doors. One of them started to walk back into the factory. The other worker started to make their way to the front of the truck. I pushed Sabrina to move to the other side of the truck with Glen.

We crouched and walked to the back of the truck. The back was locked so Glen took out his swords and hit the lock, breaking it. The sound the metal made was so loud I'm sure that monsters in Tartarus could hear it. "Who's there?" I heard the driver shout. I looked under the truck again. The driver who had just made it to the front was now walking back.

"Crap!" I whispered. Glen opened the door. I kept on looking under the truck to keep an eye on him. By the time Glen was in he was almost to the back. I looked at Sabrina and pointed to the side of the truck. She smiled at me and quickly pushed me into the truck and closed the door.

"Did she just-" I began saying before I heard her shush me from outside. I looked around but saw nothing except darkness, I put my hand out and felt Glens chest. He made a grunting sound in response but didn't do anything else.

"Hey, what are you doing back here!" I heard the man say through the doors.

"Oh, I was just trying to find a short cut through the lot-"

"Wait a second!" The man cut her off mid sentence. "You're Sabrina Driver! My kids were huge fans of your TV show!"

I was silent but I was more confused than anything. Sabrina was on a TV show?

"Oh, thanks yea 'Girl Versus' was really big a few years ago…"

"My kids were more fans of 'Jack and Delila' but Girl Versus was really good too! Um if you don't mind can I get an autograph?"

"Sure!" I couldn't see Sabrina, but I know she said that with a smile. I heard a camera click a few times.

"So what are you doing back here Miss Driver?"

"Just a little area scouting for a new TV show!"

"Huh, I'd imagine you have people for that…"

"Usually there are! But this is really early in production. It's for a new superhero show coming out on Disney+!"

The guy started laughing. "Well my kids and I will keep an eye out for it. They'll flip when I show them these pictures! Thank you so much it was so nice to meet you but I gotta take these supplies to California," The man ended with a sigh. A minute passed before light briefly lit up the trailer and Sabrina slowly entered. Glen then secured the door with some rope.

The truck started to move, after a while I could feel we were on the freeway. Or I should say the Road of Athens, we were finally on track with a straight shot ride to California. I got comfortable and tucked myself in between some boxes. It helped with the turbulence from the truck. Glen decided to lay down in the front of the trailer. Sabrina also tucked herself with some boxes next to me.

I wanted to say something to her. I've heard of Sabrina Driver before. I knew I heard that name somewhere before. She was an actress. I used to watch her when I was younger but havent seen her in anything in a while. How did I not realize or recognize that she was THEE Sabrina Driver.

"So…" I began to say. "I really liked the last movie you did, "Kung Pow WOW!"

It was dark in the trailer but I could see a little of her face. She gave a small smile and jokingly said "Shut up".

"Oh come on! Why didn't you tell me your THAT Sabrina Driver? You were crazy famous a couple years ago! Almost any movie that had needed a preteen girl you were there!"

Sabrina shifted around and accidentally knocked one of the boxes down. "Well, um I-"

"It's because she's ashamed of it," Glen intervened shouting from down the trailer.

"That's none of your business Glen!"

I thought I was going to have to step in between the two again but they both let it go. I wanted to bring up the fact that yet again we were keeping secrets from each other. But I didn't know if that was a secret or not. I've known Sabrina for a month but never bothered to ask Sabrina about her past. She never asked questions about my dad or about my life before camp.

"I'm not ashamed of it," Sabrina said to me. "I just didn't like that life. Always traveling, putting on a fake face and the standards my mom put on me… I just preferred life at camp after a while."

I felt like a hypocrite. Both Glen and Sabrina opened up to me and now I was the one who felt like I was keeping secrets.

"My dad-"

"You don't have to say anything," Sabrina interrupted me. "Family is complicated. Just look at the Olympians. If you don't feel comfortable telling us-"

"No!" I interrupted her back and grabbed her hand to stop her from talking. It felt small and soft. I could also feel callus, probably from archery. "It's nothing I feel uncomfortable with, it's just… I guess I'm just conflicted".

I wanted to tell her and Glen about what my dad told me. He knew who my real birth mother was and kept it from me. My mom who raised me kept it a secret too. I thought about what my dad said. Then I thought about what Eros said to me back in Ohio. During the middle of my thought I heard a crispy noise. Glen, who took refuge in the top corner, had fallen asleep.

"There's no way he's asleep again?" I asked Sabrina.

She chuckled "He was always the first one asleep when we were in the Hermes cabin together. We could all use the sleep after last night's party." We both laughed and the trailer went quiet except for the sound of the truck's engine and the high speed winds from outside.

"If you don't mind, I wanna talk with you about the prophecy," Sabrina told me.

I raised my eyebrow which she probably couldn't see within the dim trailer. "You told me before we left that camp we shouldn't try to interpret the prophecy. Now we can talk about it"?

"Yes," She responded blatantly. " We know more about it now so it shouldn't hurt."

"Ok. What part do you wanna talk about"?

"Well, 'Poseidon's son will tell all' and ' Find the war goddess daughter before it's too late'. What if Percy is looking for Annabeth? Maybe she went missing first and he went to look for her?"

"It's a good theory. Maybe the tell all part is him telling everyone that he was looking for her".

She nodded her head. "Yea it's just a theory. The part of the prophecy that confuses me the most is the truth is held below the gate. I can't think of any gate's that would hold importance."

I thought about it for a second. I couldn't think of any gates or doors that would hold some revelation. I tried to think of my lessons at Camp Half-blood. " Isn't the entrance to the underworld in California"?

I could see the outline of Sabrina nodding her head. "But would you consider that a gate"?

"I don't know. I can't think of anything else. Maybe we shouldn't try to interpret that part yet."

"Ok well there's one more part I want to talk about. The first line of the prophecy. The fledgling doves story starts".

I shifted uncomfortably. "Yea, that line has been in the back of my head ever since Ohio".

"Your love story. I'm sorry Adin but do you think this quest has anything to do with it?" She scooted closer so that we were both on opposite sides of a box.

"I have a feeling that it does, or at least this is the beginning of it. You've heard me say before that I've never met Aphrodite, I don't have a clue as to what she has in store for me. I know you just said that I don't have to talk about my family. But the thing is until the day I arrived at camp I thought someone else was my mom. She raised me and took care of me. She loved me and my dad more than anything else in the world".

"Adin, I wish I had a parent like that. She sounds wonderful. I'm sure she'll be excited to see you when you get home".

I shook my head. "She's dead, died of a brain tumor".

Sabrina was silent for a moment. "I- Adin oh my gods im so sorry I didn't know-".

"I didn't tell you she was gone. I guess I did make it sound like she was still with us".

"Well, She sounds like a wonderful woman".

"She was. Her and my dad had trouble having kids. So I guess Aphrodite intervened for some reason. That's all I know".

She didn't say anything. But I could sort of sense what she was feeling. Some sort of guilt, then some anger. Finally she spoke up. "My mom didn't know my dad was Apollo. He disguised himself. She didn't care about me until she learned she could make money off of me".

I felt the same kind of emotions she felt. Guilt about my childhood and how happy I was. Then anger, how could someone exploit their own daughter like that? I always heard horror stories about people's parents and the horrible stuff parents will do to their kids. But now that I know about Sabrina and her relationship to her mom. Also about her past with Glen, I could feel what she felt.

We had a long ride ahead of us so Sabrina and I decided to get some more rest. Glen was already one step ahead of us. When I drifted off I started to have dreams again. My first stop seemed to be a gas station or some sort of roadside attraction. It flashed scenes of a boy, a girl and a satyr fighting an older lady. The lady then took off a sun hat and revealed her hair which was made out of snakes. The boy using a bronze ball reflection cut off what I'm assuming to be Medusa's head.

Everything then faded away and was replaced by the open ocean. There was some sort of really old confederate boat with the girl and boy from before. This time there was another girl who looked angry and a cyclops? I got a wave of fear but this cyclops looked a little more friendly than the ones I've encountered.

The scene shifted again. Now we were back at Camp Half-blood except we were in the middle of a big fight. There were monsters and demigods fighting all over. I was in the middle but no one seemed to notice me. I looked around and saw the boy from before. This time he looked older. I scanned the battlefield and spotted my eyes on a familiar face, Nico di Angelo. "Percy!" He shouted before slashing through a monster. The boy from earlier perked his head up and sent a wave of water across some monsters.

My last dream was back on Olympus. There was only Percy, the girl who I'm guessing is Annabeth and the satyr. They were facing off against an older blonde boy who had a scar across his face. I couldn't hear what they were saying. Percy was holding a blade different than the one he had before. He handed it over to the blonde boy and the guy stabbed himself! I wasn't expecting that and it made me flinch. It made me flinch even more when an explosion of gold burst from the boy before the dream ended.
