Space & Time

It was just a normal day on the TARDIS. The Doctor decide we need to do some routine maintenance on the old girl. Rory was in the console room at the time so he asked if he could help. Us Time Lords thought it was a good idea, so Annabelle took Rory to the underside of the console and to show him how to replace the thermo-couplings. The Doctor got on the creeper and crawled under the console, while I did some system checks on the console.

A short time later Amy walked in, "Hey!"

The Doctor wheeled out from under the console, "Hey," he said then he went back under.

"Hello, Amy…" I said as pressed a couple of buttons on the console.

Amy then pulled my uncle out from under the console, "Listen, can we talk?"

"RORY!" shouted The Doctor as he went back under the console.

Amy pulled him back out, "No, shut up. I just got a question that's all…"

Rory called out from under the console, "You ok up there?"

"Yeah, fine, no problem!" said The Doctor.

"What are you doing?" asked Amy.

"Helping Annabelle," said Rory. Then he looked at my daughter, "Um, it's humming is that ok?"

Annabelle laughed a little and said, "Yeah it's fine Rory, we're just entering conceptual space…."

"Imagine a banana or anything curved!" said The Doctor.

"Why?" I asked as I pushed a lever, "Conceptual space is not shaped like anything curved."

"Right," said The Doctor, "Forget the banana."

"Uh, is he helping you fly the TARDIS?" asked Amy.

"OK, Rory," said Annabelle, "You attach thermo-couplings 2, 7, and 11, like I showed you. And I'll attach 5, 9, and 18."

The Doctor rolled out from under the console and started to walk around it, "How come he gets a go?" asked Amy, "You never let me have a go."

"Uh Doctor, don't. Seriously," said Rory, "I let her drive my car once."

"Yeah. To the end of the road," said Amy.

"Yeah where, according to Amy, there was an unexpected house."

I laughed a little, then Amy said, "Oh, he's jealous because I passed my test first time."

"You cheated. You wore a skirt.," said Rory.

"I didn't wear a skirt."

"Luck would have worked too."

"No, no, I did wear a skirt. But it was any old skirt."

"You ever see Amy drive Teddy?"

"No." I said as the Doctor and I continued to press buttons around the console.

"Neither did her driving examiner," said Rory.

"Actually, it was this one…it was this skirt," said Amy. Then the TARDIS slanted back and the console room went dark, "What was that?"

"Rory did you drop a thermo-coupling?" asked The Doctor.

"Sorry…" said Rory sheepishly.

"Oh how did you do that?!" said The Doctor, "Did Annabelle tell you not to drop them?!"

"Yes, Doctor," said Annabelle, "I specifically told him not dropping them. I might be 3 years old but I'm not a child…"

"It was my fault," said Amy.

"Of course it wasn't your fault," I said as The Doctor and I worked to restore power.

"It kinda was her fault," said Rory.

"How can it be her fault?" said Annabelle.

"Because it was my skirt, and my husband, and your glass floor."

Us Time Lords thought a second and then the three of us said all together, "Oh! Rory!"

"Sorry…" said Rory.

"Well we've landed," said The Doctor, as Rory and Annabelle made their way from under the console, "Emergency materialization, we should be fine. Should have locked on to the safest space available." The Doctor push a leaver and the lights went and to our shock we saw the TARDIS sitting inside the console room next to the doors.

"What's happened?" asked Amy.

"The TARDIS need to fine the safest spot available," I said, "So, the TARDIS materialized inside of itself."

The Doctor started to walk to the TARDIS.

"Is that supposed to happen?" asked Rory.

"Take a guess," said Annabelle.

"No?"

"That's the one," said The Doctor as he touched the TARDIS door.

"What are you doing?" asked Amy.

"Absolutely no idea." The Doctor walked into the TARDIS and then walked in through the console room doors.

"Uh, ok that is a bit weird."

The Doctor opened the console room doors and put his arm in and it came out from the TARDIS doors.

"That is actually pretty cool," said Rory.

The Doctor walked out the console room doors and walked in through the TARDIS doors. "Oh," said The Doctor as he walked back toward the rest of us, "I'm glad you're entertained Rory, now that were stuck here for all eternity. At least you won't be bored."

"Wait, what, we're stuck?" asked Amy.

"The inside of the TARDIS is now joined to the outside of the TARDIS," I said, "It's worse than a time loop, it's a space loop. Nothing can enter or leave this ship ever again."

Just then the console room doors opened and another Amy walked in and said, "OK kids, this is where it gets complicated."

"Who the hell are you?" asked Amy.

"I'm you from your future!"

"Tell me exactly what's happened," asked The Doctor as he walked up to the other Amy.

"Well, the exterior shell of the TARDIS has drifted forwards in time," she said, "If you step into the box now, you step inside the control room a tiny bit into the past."

"I don't understand." said Amy.

"Neither do I."

"But you just said it!"

"No, I'm just repeating it. I'm just remembering what I heard myself saying when I was standing where you are now and repeating it. I'm just repeating this too, and this, and this…"

"I still don't understand."

"You still don't."

"OK, when does this Amy step inside the box?" I asked, "We need to maintain the timeline."

"Ah, as soon as she slapped Rory, Teddy smacks him upside the head & Annabelle hits him on the shoulder," said the other Amy

"Ok," said Amy.

"No. Why do I get slapped, smacked and hit?" asked Rory.

"Because we have to stick to the established chain of events," said The Doctor, "One mistake and the whole timeline could collapse. We'd end up with two Amy Pond's forever! And then what would you do?"

Rory thought about it a moment before he turning to Amy suggestively. Amy guessed his thought, gasped and slapped him. I smacked him upside the head for thinking that and then Annabelle hit him on the shoulder.

"Ok, you into the police box, now!" said The Doctor as he pushed Amy toward the box.

"What, and then I become her?" asked Amy as got ready to open the TARDIS door.

"Yes, go, go, go!" I said.

Amy looked at the other Amy, "Do I really look like that?"

"Yeah, yeah you do," said the other Amy seductively.

"Mmm, I'd give you a driving license." replied Amy seductively.

"Oh I bet you would."

"Oh," groaned The Doctor, "This is how it all ends. Pond flirting with herself. True love at last!" The Doctor looked over at a stunned Rory, "Oh, sorry Rory."

"Absolutely no problem at all," said Rory.

I resisted the urge to smack Rory again and then I shouted, "Now Amy!"

"What's the first line?" asked Amy.

" 'Ok, kids this is where it gets complicated.'" said the other Amy.

"Gotcha," said Amy then she went into the TARDIS.

The other Amy turned toward us and ran up the stairs, "So, is that it? Are we ok now?"

"No, we're still trapped," I said. Just then the console room doors opened and Amy and Rory walked in, "What are you doing?"

"You told us to get into the police box," said the other Rory, "Well, from your point of view, you're about to tell us to get into the police box. From our point of view, you just told us to get into the police box. Which is why we got into the police box. Which is why we're here…"

"Do I have to remember all of that?" asked Rory.

"It sort of just happens."

"Hi!" said Amy waved to herself.

"Hi!" said Amy as she waved back.

"Hey! Stop that!" I said. Then, I pushed Amy and Rory to the TARDIS, " You two, into the police box, now."

The other Amy looked at us, " So what now?"

"You two stay where you are," said The Doctor. Then, we turned to the console. The Doctor quickly and telepathically explained his plan to Annabelle and I. Then, we started running around the console putting The Doctor's plan into action.

"What are you doing?" asked Rory.

"We're setting up a controlled temporal implosion. It's the only way to reset the TARDIS," I said'

"But unless we find the right lever to control the implosion…we're all going to die," said Annabelle.

"You don't know which lever?" asked Amy.

"No…" said The Doctor with a smile, "But we're about to find out."

Just then the console room doors opened and another Doctor, Annabelle and I ran in.

"The wibbly lever!" said The other Doctor.

"The wibbly lever!" said my uncle, he pulled it, "Thank you!" Then the three of us ran into the police box.

Inside was Amy and Rory by the door and us Time Lords at the console, "The wibbly lever!" shouted my uncle.

"The wibbly lever!" said The other Doctor, he pulled it, "Thank you!" Then the three Time Lords ran into the police box. Then, we stood there smiling as the TARDIS disappeared.

Once it was gone The Doctor stood between Rory and Amy put his arms over their shoulders and said, "Ok! We're back in normal flight! The TARDIS is no longer inside itself, the localized time field is no longer about to implode and rip a hole in all causality. But, just in case…Pond put some trousers on." Then, he walked back to the console with Annabelle and I close behind him.
