The Almost People
The fully formed Ganger Doctor started to scream and twist, "What's happening? I wonder if we'll get back. Yes, one day... Aaagh! I've reversed the polarity of the neutron flow." He said.
"The Flesh is struggling to cope with our past regenerations. Hold on!" The Doctor said to his Ganger.
Then the Ganger Doctor spoke in The Forth Doctor's voice, "Would you like a jelly-baby?" he returned to his normal voice, "Why? Why!?"
"Why? Why what?" asked The Doctor.
"Hello. I'm the Doctor," said the Ganger Doctor in the 10th Doctor's voice, Then in his normal voice he said, "No, let it go, we've moved on!"
"Hold on, hold on, you can stabilize!" I said.
"I've reversed the jelly-baby of the neutron flow. Would you like a…" said the Ganger Doctor as he grabbed the Doctor's Jacket, " Doctor...Doctor... I'm... I'm the... I can't."
"No, listen, hold on. Hold on!" said The Doctor.
"No-o-o-o!" shouted the Ganger Doctor as he shoved The Doctor away, "Aaaagh!" he returned to his half-formed state
A few moments later it looked like the Ganger Doctor was starting to stableize. Annabelle and original workers finished building the barricade. The Doctor and I stayed by the Ganger Doctor, "I think I liked it best when they were being noisy." said Buzzer.
Amy walked over to us, "Teddy, Doctor, we need you. Get over here."
"Hello!" said Ganger Doctor.
"Doctor!" called Amy.
"What are Cybermats?" I asked.
"Do we have time for this?" asked Ganger Doctor.
"We make time," said The Doctor, "I'd like more proof that you're me. Cybermats?"
"Created by the Cybermen, They kill by feeding off brainwaves."
Amy turned to the door, "Are you sure there aren't any big guns with bits on?"
"Yeah, big guns would be good right now," said Buzzer.
Jimmy leaned against the door, "Why would we have guns? We're a factory. We mine."
Just then there was a hissing sound and smoke started to come through the door, "Acid…"
The Gangers on the other side of the door started to pound on it. Annabelle and I stood with the two Doctors, "Rory and Amy may not trust both of us." said Ganger Doctor.
"I trust you both of you," I said.
"Me too," said Annabelle."
The Doctor smiled and looked at his Ganger, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Inevitably." said Ganger Doctor.
"I'm glad we're on the same…"
"Wavelength. You see, great minds."
"Exactly."
I shook my head, "So, what's the plan?" I asked.
"Save them all, humans and gangers," said Ganger Doctor.
"Sounds good to me," said Annabelle.
Ganger Doctor looked at The Doctor, "Is that what you were thinking?"
"It's just so inspiring to hear me say it." said The Doctor.
"I know!"
I shook my head then Amy called out, "Doctor, Come on!"
"So, what now, Doctor?" asked Ganger Doctor.
"Well, time to get cracking, Doctor." said The Doctor.
WE all walked over to the others, "Hello! Sorry…" said both Doctors together.
"But we had to establish a few…" said Ganger Doctor.
"Ground rules." said The Doctor.
"Formulate a…"
"Protocol."
"Protocol. Very posh."
"A protocol between us. Otherwise…"
"It gets horribly embarrassing."
"And potentially confusing."
"I'm glad you've solved the problem of confusing," said Amy.
"That's sarcasm," said Ganger Doctor.
"She's very good at sarcasm," said The Doctor.
The Doctors looked at Amy and said together, "Breathe!"
"What?" asked Amy.
Annabelle stepped forward, "We have to get everyone off this island. Human, Time Lord and Ganger."
"Sorry, would you like a memo from the last meeting?" asked Cleaves, "They're trying to kill us!"
Annabelle shook her head, "They're just scared."
"Annabelle, we're trapped in here." said Amy.
Annabelle shook her head again, "I don't think so. The Flesh Bowl is fed by cabling from above."
"But where are the earthing conduits?" asked Ganger Doctor.
"All this piping must go down into a tunnel or a shaft or something, yes?" asked The Doctor, "With us?" he removed a panel if the back wall and found a grate behind it, "Yowza! An escape route."
Amy, Annabelle and I all looked at each other and amy mouthed, "Yowza?"
"You know, I'm starting to get a sense of just how impressive it is to hang out with me," said The Doctor.
"Do we tend to say 'Yowza'?" asked Ganger Doctor.
"That's enough, let it go, OK? We're under stress." said The Doctor.
The Doctor opened the grate and we all went inside. A short time later we were running through the tunnels and Buzzer said, "The army will send a recon team."
"We need to contact the mainland," said Cleaves.
"What about Rory and Jen?" asked Amy, "They are both out there."
"It takes a long time to find someone in a maze," said Annabelle. She looked at Cleaves "I bet have got a computer map of the monastery."
"If we can get power running, we can scan for them," said Cleaves.
Then, we all started coughing, "Doctor, you said earlier to breathe." said Amy.
"Very important, Pond. Breathe," said The Doctor.
"Yeah, I'm struggling to."
"The acid is interacting with the stone." I said.
"Creating an asphyxiant miasma," said Ganger Doctor.
"A what?" asked Cleaves.
"Chokey gas. Extra heavy. If we can get above it…"
"The evac tower. This way!" then Cleaves started to lead us to the evac tower.
We got to the evac tower and headed to the control panels to assess the situation, "Ohh!" said Amy as she coughed, "I think I coughed so hard, I pulled a muscle or something."
"It's OK, it's easing off." I said to her. The Ganger Doctor moved behind the control panels as a bell chimed the hour.
"It's midnight," said Jimmy, "It's Adam's birthday. My son's five. Happy birthday, bud."
The Doctor and Cleaves joined Ganger Doctor behind the control panel to restore power, "Can you really get the power back?" asked Cleaves.
"There's always some power floating around," said Ganger Doctor, who was on our left.
He ducked down while The Doctor, who was on the right, popped up, "Sticking to the wires, like bits of lint."
"Can you stop finishing each other's…" Amy started to ask. But, was interrupted the Doctor.
"Sentences? No probs." he said.
"Yes," said The Ganger Doctor. Then they both ducked back down.
"Hang on," said Amy, "You said that the TARDIS was stuck in acid, so won't she be damaged?"
"Nah," said The Doctor, as he popped up, "She's a tough old thing. Tough, old, sexy."
"No," said Ganger Doctor, as he popped up, "tough, dependable, sexy."
"Come on," said Amy, "OK, how can...how can you both be real?"
"Well, because...we are. I'm the Doctor." said my uncle.
"So am I," added his Ganger, "We contain the knowledge of over 900 years of experience. We both wear the same bowtie, which is cool."
"Because bowties are…"
"And always will be."
"But you weren't linked up to the Flesh," said Amy.
"He went back to examine it after the lighting struck," I said, "when we went to get the TARDIS."
"Thus, a new, genuine Doctor was created," said The Doctor.
"Ta-da!" said Ganger Doctor.
"But one of you was here first," said Amy.
"After the Flesh scanned me, I had an accident with a puddle of acid," said The Doctor, "Now new shoes, a situation which did not confront me learned self here."
"That satisfy you, Pond?" said Ganger Doctor.
"Don't call me Pond, please," said Amy.
All of us Time Lords looked at her
"What?"
"Interesting," said Ganger Doctor, "You definitely feel more affection for him than me."
"No, I... Look, you're fine and everything, but he is the Doctor," said Amy, "No offence. Being almost the Doctor is pretty damn impressive."
"Being almost the Doctor's like being no Doctor at all."
"Don't overreact."
"You might as well call me...Smith."
"Smith?"
"John Smith."
"Communication a go-go!" said The Doctor.
The Doctors and Cleaves ran around the console while Cleaves started it up, "Find Rory!" said Amy, "Show me the scanny, tracky screen. Come on, Rory, let's be having you."
Cleaves pulled up the screen, "There's no sign of him anywhere."
"Come on, baby, show yourself," said Amy.
While the computer searched for Rory, Cleaves called to the mainland, "St John's calling. Emergency Alpha. 'St John's calling the mainland. Are you receiving me, Captain? Come in'." She looked up, "We'll never get a signal through this storm." Then she tried again, "St John's calling the mainland. Come in, this is urgent."
"We're just about reading you, St John's," answered a man on the other end, "How are you doing? We've had all kinds of trouble here."
"Request immediate evacuation. We're under attack. The storm's affected our gangers. They're running amok."
"Your gangers?"
"Yes, our gangers are attacking us. We need you to take us off the island immediately and wipe them out."
Us Time Lords looked at each other. Then the man over the radio said, "Copy that, St John's. Shuttle's dispatched. Hang on."
"You'll need to airlift us off the roof of the evac tower," said Cleaves, "And Captain, any further transmission sent by me must come with the following code word. I'm typing it, in case they're listening in."
"Got it," said the Captain, "We'll swing in, get you out and decommission the Flesh."
Shortly after the originals workers started preparing for the evacuation, "We've got to get out of here," said Buzzer.
"We're not leaving without them," said Amy.
"I want 'em found too, but it's about casualties, innit? Can't be helped."
Turned to the console and saw The Doctor and Me working on something, "What are you doing?" she asked.
"Making a phone call," I said.
"Who to?"
"No-one yet. It's on delay," said The Doctor.
"Right, not getting it," said Amy, "Why exactly are you making a phone call?"
"Because, Amy, I am and always will be the optimist, the hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams," The Doctor spun in his chair, "The wheels are in motion. Done."
The Doctor spun Amy's chair and she laughed. When she stopped she was facing, Ganger Doctor, "You know, really, there can be only one." she said.
"Hmm?" said The Doctor.
"Nothing. Carry on. Be amazing."
The Doctor and I went back to work. Amy stood up and walked over to a wall. Then she gasped, "Amy?" I asked, "What's wrong?"
She sat back down in the chair she was sitting in and said, "It's her again."
"It's who again?" asked Annabelle as she walked over.
"There's a woman I keep seeing, a woman with an eye-patch, and she has this habit of sliding walls open and staring at me." said Amy. Us Time Lords looked at each other "Doctor? Teddy? Annabelle?"
"It's nothing." said The Doctor.
"Doesn't seem like nothing," said Amy.
"It's a time memory. Like a mirage," said Annabelle. She took her friends hand in comfort, "It's nothing to worry about." Then Us Time Lords went back to work on the console.
"It's in my head…" said Ganger Doctor. He closed his eyes and ran out of the room.
"Hey, hold on!" said Jimmy.
"Don't let him go," said Cleaves.
"Leave it to me," said Amy then she ran out of the room.
Amy ran out of the room and a few moments later, The Doctor said, "Why?"
"Why? What?" I asked.
Before he could answer Amy ran back into the room, "Keep him away from me!"
Ganger Doctor walked up to us and looked at The Doctor, "Did you sense it?" he asked.
"Briefly. Not as strong as you," said The Doctor.
"Amy, I'm sorry."
"No, you keep away! We can't trust you," said Amy.
"It would appear I can connect to the Flesh," said Ganger Doctor.
"Well, you are Flesh."
"I'm beginning to understand what it needs."
"What YOU want. You are it."
"It's much more powerful than we thought. The Flesh can grow, correct?"
"Its cells can divide," said Cleaves.
Cleaves walked up to Cleaves, "Well, now it wants to do that at will. It wants revenge. It's in pain, angry. It wants revenge."
"I was right, you're not the Doctor," said Amy, "You can't ever be. You're just a copy."
"Doctor, it might be best if you stayed over there for now, hmm?" Cleaves said to Ganger Doctor.
"Hold on a minute," I said, as I stood up, "We've been over this. We explained this. They are both The Doctor."
Buzzer walked closer then Cleaves looked at Ganger Doctor and said, "Doctor, we have no issue with you. But when it comes to your ganger…"
"This is stupid!" said Annabelle, "Ganger Doctor is no danger to us!"
"Buzzer?" said Cleaves.
"Sure, boss.' said Buzzer. He brought an empty oil barrel over to Ganger Doctor, "Take a seat, mate."
Ganger Doctor straightening his tie and sat down, "Nice barrel, very comfy. Why not?"
I looked around at the group, "Is this really what you all want?"
Amy crossed her arms and looked coldly at Ganger Doctor.
A few moments later a man's voice come over the radio, "This is the shuttle. We're right above you, but we can't get low enough. Gamma static could fry our nav-controls. Sit tight. We'll get to you. Just…"
The Doctor took out his sonic screwdriver and scanned Cleaves, "Hello?" said Jimmy, "Can you hear me?"
"I can't find Rory," said Amy, "I'm going out there."
"We could use a sonic track him," said Annabelle, "Humans and gangers give off slightly different signals. The sonics can tell the difference."
"Oh, so the sonics knows gangers are different, so the other Doctor is different," said Amy.
"He is The Doctor."
"Not to me. I can tell."
"Are you sure you're not prejudiced?"
"Nice try, but I know, OK? We've been through too much. He's my Doctor. End of."
"Hey, there's a camera up," said Buzzer, "We've got a visual."
We ran over to the screen and saw Rory and Jennifer running through the tunnels, "That's Rory and Jennifer," said Amy.
"They're heading for the thermostatic room," said Cleaves.
"Let's go get them," said Amy. The Doctor tossed his sonic screwdriver to Ganger Doctor. Then, Amy said, "Hang on."
"We can't let him go," said Cleaves, "Are you crazy?"
"Am I crazy, Doctor?" The Doctor asked his Ganger.
"Well, you did once plumb your brain into the core of an entire planet just to halt its orbit and win a bet," said Ganger Doctor.
"He can't go rescue them," said Amy, "I'm going."
"Do you know, I want him to go," said The Doctor as he stood and looked Amy in the face, "And I'm rather adamant."
"I think he should go too," I said.
"Me too," said Annabelle.
"Well, then, he'll need company, right, boss?" asked Buzzer, "It's fine. I'll handle it."
Ganger Doctor snapped his finger, "Thank you, Buzzer. It'll be all right. I'll find him." Ganger Doctor left and Buzzer followed be him.
I looked at Amy, "We can't explain it to you now, but we need you to trust him. Can you do that for us, Amy?"
"And what if you're wrong?" asked Amy.
"When have I ever been wrong?" asked The Doctor. Amy, Annabelle and I all turned and looked at The Doctor, "Yeah… Well… Shut up…" he said.
A little while later, Cleaves was looking at the control panel, "These temperature gauges are rising. Jennifer and Rory must have shut off the underground cooling vents."
"Why do that?" asked Dicken as he walked over to the control panel, "They'll kill us."
"There's a million gallons of boiling acid under our feet…"
"And now it's heating up the whole island," I asked, "How long till it blows?"
Just then there was an explosion that shook the whole island. "Gangers or no gangers, we need to get the hell out of here." said Dicken.
Cleaves grabbed the radio, "Shuttle! We need evac. Where are you? Can you hear me? Can you...?" she winced in pan and put a hand on her forehead.
The Doctor went to Cleaves, "Cleaves? Cleaves, sit down." he sat her down in a chair.
"I'm fine," said Cleaves, "I'm waiting for results, so let it go."
"It's a very deep parietal clot." he said as he remembered the scan he did with his sonic.
"Inoperable?"
"On Earth, yes."
"Well, seeing as Earth is all that's on... offer...hmm. I'm no healthy spring chicken, and you're no weatherman. Right?"
There was another quake, "Something just cracked. I heard it."
"We can't stay here," said Annabelle, "We need to go now, let's go."
"Let's shift!" said Jimmy.
"Cleaves to Shuttle," picked up the radio, "We need to move, and we can't be collected from the evac tower."
"Give us the codeword." said the man over the radio.
"The codeword is…" Cleaves started but another quake shook the building and the console when up in sparks. Cleaves went back to the console but all she got was static.
"Cleaves?" I said as I pulled her back, "Cleaves, it's dead, it's dead. "
"WE need to get out of here," said The Doctor, "We need to get back downstairs and get those vents back on, come on."
Then we all ran out of the room. We reached the bottom levels of the complex. We followed Cleaves down a hall way on one wall there were eyes watching us, "Ah. The eyes have it." said The Doctor. I so badly wanted to smack him upside the head.
"Why are they here?" asked Amy.
"To accuse us," I said.
"Ignore them. It's not far," said Cleaves.
We reached the thermostatic chamber, us Time Lords went to the contorls to change the settings, "It's in a chemical chain reaction now," said Annabelle, "We can't stop it. This place is going to blow sky high."
"Exactly how long have we got?" asked Cleaves.
"An hour?" said The Doctor, "Five seconds? Er, somewhere in between."
There was another explosion, an alarmed sounded and the machinery began to hiss.
"Out!" said The Doctor.
We all ran out of the room, Amy was the first one out and she almost ran right into Rory, "All right?" he said.
"Oh, Rory! Oh, Rory," said Amy as she gave him a big hug.
"There's a way out," said Rory, "Jennifer found it. A secret tunnel under the crypt."
"From the crypt? It's not on the schematics." said Cleaves.
"It runs right out of the monastery. Maybe even under the TARDIS, Doctor. Follow me." The others followed Rory. Us Time Lords looked at each other. Then we followed them.
Rory took us to the acid room. Cleaves went in first and Jimmy said, "We can't leave without Buzzer." said Jimmy.
"I'll go back for him." said Cleaves.
Rory was standing outside the room and said, "Doctor, Teddy, Annabelle, look...I'd better tell you, I haven't been quite straight with you…"
Then, Jennifer appered and pulled Rory away, closed the door and locked it, "Rory!" I shouted as The Doctor, Cleaves, Annabelle and I ran to the door and tried to open it.
"C'mon, Jennifer, we don't need to lock them up," said Rory, "We should just show them what we've found."
"I don't think so," said Jennifer.
"Rory Pond!" shouted The Doctor, "Roranicus Pondicus!"
"Rory! What the hell are you playing at?" shouted Amy.
"They've been throwing away old Flesh and leaving it to rot, alive! I think the world should see that," said Rory.
"Rory, we don't have time!" I shouted, "This factory's about to explode!"
Rory looked at Jennifer, "Are you sure about this? Cos I'm not. Let them out."
"The little girl got strong," said Jennifer.
"What?"
"The little girl lost on the moors in her red wellies? Looking for a way home? Well, she got strong, Rory. I told you, remember?"
"But that wasn't...it was the other Jennifer that told me about being a little girl."
"Oh? What other Jennifer?" Jennifer's eyes glowed revealing that she was really Ganger Jennifer.
"Well, the... the... wait, you tricked me?" said Rory, Let me go, I'll open the door." Ganger Jennifer grabbed him by the arm, "Let me…" Rory looked at us, "I'm sorry!" Ganger Jennifer started to drag him away.
Amy pounded on the window and then Ganger Cleaves appeared and looked at Cleaves, "We have to be free."
"I'm sorry too, Miranda," said Cleaves, "Of all the humans in the world, you had to pick the one with the clot. But hey, them's the breaks. Welcome to the human race." Then Ganger Cleaves walked away.
The Doctor took a reading of the acid with his sonic, "This is going to overheat and fill the room with acid, just as a point of interest."
"And we can't stop it?" asked Cleaves.
"Just as a point of interest, no."
A short time later, Dicken lowered the cap over the acid vat, "It'll never hold her," said Jimmy.
"If you have a better plan, I'm all ears," I said, "In fact, if you have a better plan, we'll take you to a planet where EVERYONE is all ears."
The lid slammed shut. But we knew it wouldn't last long. Cleaves watched the vat and several minutes later she said, "The acid's eating through."
The vat kept hopping up and down like the lid on a pot of boiling potatoes, Jimmy struggled to keep the lid on the vat. But, some of the acid hit him on the chest and knocked him on the floor, just as the door opened and Ganger Jimmy came in. "Let me through!" said Ganger Jimmy.
"There's nothing we can do," I said as I looked at the spot on Jimmy's chest where the acid it him, "The acid's reached his heart."
"Hang in there, mate," said Ganger Jimmy.
"I'm quite handsome from this angle," said Jimmy.
"I'm...sorry. I'm the fake. Adam deserves his real dad."
"Shut up."
"What do you want me to do? Anything, just say."
"The way things are, mate... it's up to you now." He pulled the cord around his neck and pressed it into Ganger Jimmy's hand, "Be a dad. You remember how." Then, Jimmy passed away.
Ganger Jimmy looked at Jimmy's wedding band. Then, The Doctor said, "Jimmy Wicks...you're a dad."
Ganger Jimmy and Ganger Dicken took us to the Dining Hall. We heard the voice of a boy calling out, "Daddy? Where's my daddy?"
We entered the Dinning hall and we saw Rory, Ganger Doctor and Ganger Cleaves looking at a hologram of a small boy. Rory went right to Amy and they hugged and kissed. Cleaves went to her Ganger. Ganger Jimmy went toward the hologram.
"Daddy, it's me!" said the boy.
Ganger Jimmy laughed nervously, "Hey, sunshine! What are you up to?"
"Opening all my presents."
"Haha, good lad. You have fun today. And remember, your dad... he loves you very, very much."
"When are you coming home?"
"Daddy's coming home today, Adam," said The Doctor.
"Yay!" said Adam then he did his excited dance
"Now we need to move," said The Doctor.
The Doctor led us through the tunnels. But, we all stopped when we came across a very misshapen, elongated Ganger Jennifer. "Run," shouted The Doctor as he turned us back the way we came, "Run. Run!" I looked behind us and saw Ganger Jennifer running on all-fours towards us. We turned down a narrow hallway and into another room. The roof started to groan, "The Roof's going to give way," said Annabelle.
Dicken and his Ganger closed the door, "We have to stop her," said Ganger Dicken, "This door doesn't lock."
"No, but the far one does," said Dicken. He ran back down the hall to the far door. I watched him pull on it but I could tell it was jammed. I heard an inhuman roar. Then, I saw Dicken pull part of the handle off and close the door. But, he stayed on the other side of the door. We could all here his screams.
"No!" shouted Ganger Dicken as he slammed the door shut. Ganger Cleaves and The Doctor ran to the door to help close it.
Ganger Doctor looked up at the roof, "Here she comes."
Then a second later, the TARDIS fell through the roof. I smiled, "Well, she does like to make an entrance!"
"Move!" said Ganger Doctor as he opened the door and let Ganger Jimmy in.
"Go, go, go, go!" said The Doctor as he and Cleaves held the door closed.
Ganger Dicken ran to the TARDIS. Then, Ganger Cleaves looked at Cleaves, "Get on board! Go!"
"I'm not leaving," said Cleaves.
Ganger Jennifer banged against the door, "Go."
Cleaves hesitated for a moment then she ran to the TARDIS.
"Now's our chance," said Amy.
"I have to stay," said The Doctor, "Hold this door closed. Give you time to dematerialize."
"Oh, don't be crazy. OK, what happens to you?"
"Well, this place is just about to explode. But I can stop her."
"Both of you can survive this, OK?"
Ganger Doctor walked up to us and said "Or perhaps you think I should stay instead... Mr Smith?"
"No, of course not," Amy went up to him and said, "But look, this man, I've flown with him, you know? And you are amazing and yeah, I misjudged you, but you're not him. I'm sorry."
I knew then it was time to tell Amy the truth, "Amy, they swapped shoes," I put my hand on the shoulder of the Doctor who wasn't holding the door closed, "He's the Doctor."
"And I'm the Flesh," said The Doctor by the door.
"You can't be," said Amy as she turned to the true Ganger Doctor by the door, "You're the real him."
"No, I'm not, and I haven't been all along," said the true Ganger Doctor.
"What?" asked Amy.
"He's the original Doctor, Amy," said Annabelle, "We had to know if they were truly the same."
"It was important we learn about The Flesh," I said, "And we could only do that through your eyes."
Amy looked at Ganger Doctor and gave him a hug, "I never thought it possible."
"What?" said Ganger Doctor.
"You're twice the man I thought you were."
"Push, Amy. But only when she tells you to."
Ganger Jennifer banged at the door again, "Amy, come on!" said Rory.
Amy ran past The Doctor with Annabelle and I close behind her. The Doctor came in a short time later and we were off. The Doctor leaned against the console and Amy came over and wrapped her hand around his arm. "The energy from the TARDIS will stabilize the gangers for good. They're people now," I said
"And what happens to me? I still have this." said Cleaves, as she tapped her forehead.
"Ah, that's not a problem," The Doctor snapped his fingers, "I have something for that. It's small and red and tastes like burnt onions, ha!" He pulled a vial from under the console, "But it'll get rid of your blood clot." he tossed the vial to Cleaves. Then he grabbed a red balloon from under the console, "Happy Endings."
The Doctor, Annabelle, and I stood on a beach watched as the former Ganger Jimmy ran up behind his son. "Hey!" he called, "Hello, bud."
Adam ran to him, "Daddy, you're back!"
Jimmy lifted Adam in the air and twirled him around, "Hello, my boy! How are you doing?" asked Jimmy.
Then, us Time Lords headed back to the TARDIS.
We landed the TARDIS in the lobby of Morpeth-Jetsan Headquarters. The Doctor, Annabelle and I walked with Cleaves and the former Ganger Dicken to the main door while Amy and Rory followed. "You really want us to do this?" asked Cleaves.
"Your company's telling the world that the situation is over," I said, "You need to get in there and tell them that the situation's only just begun."
"Make them understand what they're doing to the Flesh. Make them stop," said The Doctor then he looked at Dicken, "Dicken, remember, people are good. In their bones, truly good. Don't hate them, will you?"
"How can I hate them?" said Dicken, "I'm one of them now."
"And just remember, people died," said Annabelle, "Don't let that be in vain. Make what you say in that room count."
Cleaves took a breath and looked at Dicken, "Ready?" they walked to the door, "Side by side."
"You got it, boss," said Dicken.
Cleaves open the door and we heard the press conference inside, "Have the army dealt with the imposters?" asked one of the reporters. Then the door closed behind them.
Amy walked up to The Doctor and gave him a nudge, "You OK?"
The Doctor looked at Amy, "We said breathe, Pond, remember? Well, breathe."
"Why?" asked Amy.
"Breathe," I said.
Amy suddenly doubled over in pain with a gasp, "Ohh! Whoa. Oh!"
"What's wrong with her?" asked Rory.
"We need to get her into the TARDIS," said Annabelle, as she helped Rory get Amy inside. The Doctor and I held the doors open. Once everyone was inside. Us Timle Lords headed to the console.
"Doctor! What is happening to her?" asked Rory.
"Contractions." said The Doctor.
"Contractions?"
"She's going into labor," I said.
"Did she say...?" asked Rory, "No, of course she didn't. Rory, I don't like this. Ow!" Amy gripped her stomach and bent over.
"You'll have to start explaining this to me, Doctor," said Rory.
"What, the birds and the bees?" asked The Doctor, "She's having a baby."
"We needed to see the Flesh in its early days," said Annabelle, "That's why The Doctor scanned it. That's why we were there in the first place."
"We were going to drop you off for fish and chips first, but things happened and there was stuff and shenanigans. Beautiful word, shenanigans," said The Doctor.
"It hurts!" said Amy.
"But you're OK?" asked Rory.
"Breathe, Amy," I said, "We needed enough information to block the signal to the Flesh."
"What signal?" asked Amy.
"The signal to you."
Amy looked at my uncle, "Doctor?"
"Stand away from her, Rory." said The Doctor.
"Why?" asked Rory as he moved closer to Amy, "No! And why?"
"Given what we've learned, I'll be as humane as I can, but I need to do this and you need to stand away!" shouted the Doctor.
Rory looked at Amy who shook her head. Rory looked at us and then he slowly backed away from Amy. "No. No!" she turned and looked at Annabelle, "Annabelle, I am frightened. I'm properly, properly scared."
"Don't be," said Annabelle, as she walked up to her friend. She took Amy's hand and said, "You hold on. We're coming for you, I promise. Whatever happens, no matter how hard we have to look, no matter how hard far we have to go, we will find you."
"I'm right here!" said Amy as she took Annabelle's other hand.
"No, you're not," said Annabelle. She took her hands back from Amy and walked back next to The Doctor and me. She stood to my right.
I took her hand and looked at her and smiled. She looked at me and smiled then we looked back at Amy. "You haven't been here for a long, long time." said The Doctor. He took his sonic screwdriver out and pointed it at Amy.
Rory gasped and Amy said, "Oh, no!"
The Doctor activated the sonic and Amy melted into Flesh. But, at that exact moment I felt Annabelle's hand seemingly disappear from mine. I turned and she was gone, "Annabelle?" I looked down and saw a puddle of Flesh. "ANNABELLE!"
A/N: I bet none of you saw that coming! And I bet none of you will guess why they took Annabelle! If you like this story favorite, follow, and send me a review in the box below.
