Asylum of the Daleks

The Doctor, Annabelle and I were sitting in a tea room, having some tea and biscuits. As I took a sip of tea and saw a cloaked figure with no visible face sitting across the room. I was a bit uneasy then I turned and saw the figure sitting across the table from me and next to Annabelle, "I don't recall asking you to sit," I said.

"There is a woman who wants to meet you," said the figure with a deep voice.

"That's nice," said The Doctor, "but we're having tea now…"

"Your help is required."

"We don't discuss our business in public," said Annabelle.

"I know," said the figure. With a wave of it's hand, we were the only people in the tea room.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"A messenger."

"Whose messenger?" asked Annabelle.

"Darla von Karlsen," said the figure.

"Never heard of her," said The Doctor, the three of us stood up and we were no longer in the tea room. "Where's the tea room?"

"You were never in the tea room."

"Oh. Of course," I said, "This is a psychic projection. Someone's sending us a dream message."

"Well, I hope we fell asleep somewhere comfy," said The Doctor.

"Do you recognize where you are?"

We looked around and The Doctor said, "Can't remember. How do you hang up on this thing?"

"You can't."

"Oh yeah?" said Annabelle, "And what if we just wake up?"

A few seconds later, we were sitting in deckchairs, on a beach, "No, Annabelle. The beach isn't real either. You are all still dreaming." A second later we were in the middle of space. The figure moved its hand and a set of glowing symbols, numbers and maps appeared in front of us, "Spacetime coordinates. You will meet Darla von Karlsen here. Her daughter is in danger, and only you can save her. You recognize the planet?"

"Yes," said The Doctor. I held Annabelle's hand and squeezed it. Annabelle squeezed back she knew what planet it was too.

"Say it," said the figure.

"No."

"Name the planet."

"I will not say that name."

"None of us will say,' I said.

"Say it."

"No!" we all shouted.

Then, we woke up under the console. All we could hear in our heads was the voice saying over and over, "Name the planet. Name the planet. Name the planet."

"Skaro." the three of us said together.

A short time later, I was in one of the two places I never wanted to go in my travels with my uncle, the Dalek home world, Skaro. We landed where the spacetime coordinates designated us to go. We walked through a building until we saw a woman wearing a hooded cloak standing by a window. She turned as she heard us walk up, "We got your message," I said, "Not many people can do that, send us messages."

"I have a daughter. Hannah," said the woman, "She's in a Dalek prison camp. They say you three can help."

"Do they? I wish they'd stop," said The Doctor as we walked up to the window, "Helluva choice of meeting place."

"They said I'd have to intrigue you."

"Skaro. The original planet of the Daleks. Look at the state of it."

Annabelle looked at the woman, "Who told you about us?"

"Does it matter?"

"Maybe not," Annabelle pulled the hood off the woman's head, "But you're very well informed."

"If Hannah's in a Dalek prison camp, tell me, why aren't you?" I asked.

"I escaped." said the woman.

"No, nobody escapes from the Dalek camps," I said.

Annabelle held the woman's hand, "You're very cold." She put a hand to the woman's cheek and then started to look around nervously.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"It's a trap."

"What is?" asked The woman.

"You are and you don't even know it," said Annabelle. She pushed The Doctor and I away from the woman. The woman's head jerked and a Dalek eyestalk come out of her forehead. She raised her right hand and a Dalek gun extended from her palm. She fired three times and everything went dark.

We woke up in a white room and then we were taken out of the room by three Daleks. As we walked we found out that the Daleks had 'acquired' Amy and Rory as well.

As we approached a door we heard Rory say, "So how much trouble are we in?"

The door opened and my uncle said, "How much trouble, Mr. Pond?" as us three Time Lords followed a Dalek into the room. "Out of ten? Eleven." Amy was in the room too. Then, the ceiling of the room opened and the floor started to move upward toward were the ceiling was. We found ourselves in an auditorium surrounded by thousands of Daleks of all different kinds, on different tiers. There was a white Dalek guarding the TARDIS. And, on a pedestal, on one side of the room, was a glass case with Dalek mutant inside.

"Where are we?" asked Amy, " Spaceship, right?"

"This isn't just any spaceship," I said, "This is the Parliament of the Daleks."

"What do we do?"

"Make them remember you," said The Doctor, "Well come on then. You've got me! What are you waiting for? At long last, it's Christmas!" he held out his arms, "Here I am!" he closed his eyes."

Then the Dalek in the glass case said, "Save us." The Doctor cracked open one eye, "You will save us."

The Doctor opened his eyes, dropped his arms and turned. "I'll what?"

"You will save the Daleks."

Then the others Daleks started to chant, "Save the Daleks! Save the Daleks! Save the Daleks! Save the Daleks! Save the Daleks! Save the Daleks!"

"Well, this is new," said Annabelle.

A little while later, Amy and Rory watched as The Doctor, Annabelle and I paced around the room, while talking telepathically. While The Doctor and Annabelle talked strategy, I looked at Amy and Rory. They weren't standing together… there was a good foot or so between them. That worried me, I told my uncle of my concern for our friends and he said telepathically, "Don't worry, Theodora… We'll get out of this and fix Amy and Rory… You'll see." then straightened his bow tie.

Then the white Dalek said, "We have arrived."

"Arrived where?" asked Annabelle.

"Time Lords…" said the Dalek in the glass case.

"The Prime Minister will speak with you now," said the Dalek Puppet formally Darla von Karlsen

We walked toward the Prime Minister. I stopped when I was looking at the former Darla, I said in a hushed tone, "Do you remember who you were, before they emptied you out and turned you into their puppet?"

"My memories are only re-activated if they are required to facilitate deep cover or disguise."

"You had a daughter."

"I know. I've read my file." Darla motioned with her hand for me to continue. I hesitated and joined my uncle and daughter as they stood in front of the Dalek Prime Minister.

"Well?" asked The Doctor.

"What do you know of the Dalek Asylum?" asked the Prime Minister.

"According to legend, you have a planet where you lock up all the Daleks that go wrong," said Annabelle, "The battle-scarred, the insane. The ones that even you can't control. Which never made any sense to us…"

"Why not?"

"Why wouldn't you just kill them?" I asked.

"It is offensive to us to extinguish such divine hatred," said the Prime Minister.

"Offensive?" said The Doctor.

"Does it surprise you to know the Daleks have a concept of beauty?"

The Doctor bent over so he could look the Prime Minster in the eye, "I thought you'd run out of ways to make me sick, but hello again. You think hatred is beautiful?" he walked away.

"Perhaps that is why we have never been able to kill you."

The Doctor stopped. Then a hole opened in the floor next to Amy and Rory. We walked over to them along with Darla. We looked down the whole and saw a white planet below us. "The Asylum. It occupies the entire planet. Right to the core." said Darla.

"How many Daleks are in there?" I asked.

"A count has not been made. Millions, certainly."

"All still alive?" asked The Doctor.

"It has to be assumed. The Asylum is fully automated - supervision is not required."

"Armed?" asked Annabelle.

"The Daleks are always armed," said Darla

"What color?" asked Rory. We all looked at him, "Sorry. There weren't any good questions left."

"This signal is being received from the very heart of the Asylum."

Just then we heard 'Habernera' from Carmen start to play. "What is the noise? Explain! Explain!" said the White Dalek.

"It's me," said The Doctor.

"Sorry what?!" asked Rory.

"It's him," I said, "He's playing the triangle."

"OK, I got buried in the mix," said The Doctor, "Carmen! Lovely show. Someone's transmitting this." He pointed his sonic at the transmitter, "Have you considered tracking back the signal and talking to them? He asked the Daleks…Hello? Hello, Carmen? Hello?"

Just then we heard a young woman's voice, "Hello?"

"Come in, come in, come in, Carmen."

"Hello, yes, yes, sorry, do you read me?!"

"Yes, reading you loud and clear. Identify yourself and report your status."

"Hello! Are you real? Are you actually, properly real?"

"Yep, confirmed, actually properly real."

"Oswin Oswald, Junior Entertainment Manager, Starship Alaska. Current status - crashed and shipwrecked somewhere... not nice. Been here a year, rest of the crew missing. Provisions good, but keen to move on."

"A year?" I asked, "Are you OK? Are you...under attack?"

"Some local life-forms, I've been keeping them out."

"Do you know what those life-forms are?" asked Annabelle.

"I know a Dalek when I hear one, yeah," Said the woman.

"What have been doing, on your own, against the Daleks for a year?!" asked The Doctor.

"Making soufflés."

"Soufflés?! Against the Daleks?" said Annabelle, "Where do you get the milk?"

"This conversation is irrelevant," said the white Dalek.

"No, it isn't!" said The Doctor, as the Dalek's cut off the transmission. "Because a Starliner's crashed into your Asylum, and someone's got in. And if someone can get in, then everything can get out... a tsunami of insane Daleks. Even you don't want that."

"The Asylum must be cleansed."

"Then why is it still here?" asked Annabelle, "You've got enough firepower on this ship, to blast it out of the sky."

"The Asylum force-field is impenetrable," said Darla.

"Turn it off," I said.

"It can only be turned off from within the Asylum."

"A small task force could sneak through a force-field send in a couple of Daleks. Oh!" he clapped his hands, "Oh, that's good. That's brilliant. You're all too scared to go down there! Not one of you will go! So tell me - what do the Daleks do when they're too scared?"

"The Predators of the Daleks will be deployed," said the white Dalek.

"Dalek don't have a predator," said Annabelle.

"And even if you did, why would they turn off a force-field for you?" I asked.

"Because you will have no other means of escape," said the Prime Minister.

"What?"

"May I clarify…" said Darla, "The Predator is the Daleks' word for you three.."

"Us?! Us?!" said The Doctor.

"You will need this. It will protect you from the Nano-cloud." said Darla.

Just then some male Dalek "puppets' appeared and snap bands around each of our right wrists. A blue light turned on, "The what? The nano-what?" asked The Doctor.

The Dalek "puppets" took each of us Time Lords by the arms and pulled us back toward the hole. "The gravity beam will convey you close to the source of the transmission," said Darla, "You must find a way to deactivate the force-field from there."

Just then a bright beam of light cam up from the hole, "You're going to fire us at a planet?" asked The Doctor, "That's your plan? WE get fired at a planet and expected to fix it?"

"In fairness, that is slightly your MO." said Rory.

I looked at Rory, "Rory! Don't encourage the Daleks!" I saw some more puppets come up and put bands on Amy and Rory's wrist, "What do you want with them?!"

"It is known that The Doctor and his nieces require companions," said the White Dalek.

"Oh, Brilliant. Good-oh!" said Rory.

The Doctor looked at Amy, "Don't worry, we'll get through this I promise. Don't be scared.

"Scared? Who's scared? Geronimo."

The Doctor laughed as the puppets pushed us into the beam

We fell to the planet fairly fast and the next thing I knew I was on the planet flat on my back. The reason the planet was white was because it was covered in snow. I looked around and saw that I was the only one around. I tried calling for The Doctor and Annabelle both verbally and telepathically but I didn't get a response. Then I saw a Dalek eyepiece pop out of the snow. "Hello?"

Just then 'Habernera' started to play, "Sorry, sorry! Pressed the wrong switch." said the young woman we heard earlier.

"Soufflé girl?" I asked not remembering her name.

"Could always call me Oswin, seeing as that's my name. You OK?"

"Yeah… I'm fine… How are you doing that?" I asked as I tapped the glass of the periscope, "This is Dalek technology."

"Well it's very easy to hack."

I pulled out my sonic and scanned the eyepiece, "No, it isn't. Where are you?"

"Ship broke up when it hit. Somewhere underground, I think. You coming to get me?"

"Teddy!" shouted Amy from nearby.

"Mom!" called Annabelle.

The eyepiece fell down into the snow. "Oswin?" I did another scan of they eyepiece, "Can you hear me?"

"Teddy!" called Amy. I looked and saw Amy, Annabelle and a black man in a white snow suite following them. I got up and went to them, "Amy! Annabelle!" I called I gave my daughter big hug, "You OK?"

Annabelle nodded, "Where's The Doctor and Rory?"

"There was another beam," said the black man as he pointed, "There, over there." The three of us started to run in the direction he pointed, "Are you the rescue team?!" I heard him call.

We ran a short way and came across a perfectly round hole in the ground. We knelt down next to the hole and Amy called down "Rory? Rory?! Rory!"

I called down, "Doctor!"

Then I tried telepathically, "Uncle Theta?"

Then he called back, "Teddy! Are you Annabelle and Amy all right?"

"Yeah we're fine… Is Rory with you?"

"Yeah he's here and he's fine too."

"Where are you?

"I don't know. But… There are Daleks here, out of power, but I doubt they ALL are the same."

"OK…We are going to find a way down. You keep Rory safe and yourself out of trouble."

"Will do…"

I looked at Amy, "They are fine… Come on…"

The man, whose name was Harvey, took us back to a hatch that led into an escape pod, "We came down two days ago," he said, "There is 12 other escape pods. I don't know what happened to them."

As the went to open the hatch, Amy wiped away some of the snow surrounding it and the name of the ship it came from was exposed, "Alaska? That's the same ship as soufflé girl."

"Yes…" I said, "But she told us she was here for a year."

Harvey went down a ladder into the pod then Amy, Annabelle and I followed her, "We should have some climbing rope long enough for that hole." he said as he went to a locker.

I looked and saw several other crew members wearing the same snowsuits as Harvey, but they didn't react to us being there. I had a good idea why, "Won't you introduce us to your crew?" I asked.

"Ah yeah, sorry. Guys, this is Teddy, Annabelle and Amy." There was no response, "Guys?" Annabelle patted the shoulder of the crew member closest to her. The body fell forward and we saw that it was just a dried-out, mummified corpse. "Oh, my God!" said Harvey.

I walked up, took out my sonic and scanned the bodies, "They're dead. All of them." I said.

"That's not possible. I just spoke to them. Two hours ago, we were doing engine repairs!"

Annabelle pulled back the hood from another body and said, "Are you're sure about that? Because I'd say they've all been dead for a very long time."

"But...but they can't have been…"

"Well, they didn't get in that state in two hours," said Amy.

"Oh, of course! Stupid me," said Harvey.

"Of course, what?"

"I died outside and the cold preserved my body. I forgot about dying," Just then a Dalek eyestalk grew out of his forehead and he started to walk toward Annabelle and I.

Annabelle grab a fire extinguisher and fired it at Harvey, "Amy! The door!" she shouted.

Amy pushed a button to open a door and Annabelle forced Harvey inside and locked the door. "Explain!" said Amy, "That's what you're good at. How did he get all Daleked?"

"Because he wasn't wearing one of these." I said as I held up my wrist, "The nano-cloud is a group of micro-organisms that automatically process any organic matter, living or dead, into a Dalek puppet. If anything attacks this place, it automatically becomes part of the on-site security."

"Living or dead?" asked Amy.

"Right, but these wrist-bands will protect us."

"Living or dead?!" asked Amy.

"Yes, living, or, or…" just then I realized what I said. I looked and saw that all of the bodies of the crew members now had Dalek eyestalks coming from their foreheads. They slowly began to stand, "…dead."

Annabelle climbed over the seats and kicked at the bodies to clear the way for Amy and I to get to another door on the another side of the pod. As we ran one of the bodies grabbed Amy by the arm as we ran through the door. Annabelle pulled her free, then I closed the door and locked it with my sonic. We leaned back against the door and Amy looked at me with a smile, "Is it bad that I've REALLY missed this?"

"Yes."

"Good."

"I know."

"'Unauthorized personnel may not enter the cockpit.'" said Oswin's voice over the intercom.

"You should talk…" I said

"Ooh, Ms Grumpy!"

"Is that her again - soufflé girl?" asked Amy.

"Her name is Oswin," I said.

"I'm scanning you," said Oswin, "You're on another of the escape pods from the Alaska, right? Same ship I was on."

"How can you hack into everything?" asked Annabelle, "It should be impossible, you're in a crashed ship!"

"Long story. Is there a word for total screaming genius that sounds modest and a tiny bit sexy?"

"Normally we call him Doctor," said Amy. Annabelle and I looked at Amy. "What?"

"Check the floor," said Oswin, "I'm picking up a breach at floor level, there could be a way out. See you later!"

We cleared a spot in the center of the floor and found a hatch.

"It looks like it's been used already, and they tried to block it off behind them," said Annabelle

Amy looked back at the door, "Can't imagine why."

"The lower part of the pod is buried, so this must go straight down into the Asylum," I said.

"Where Rory and The Doctor are?"

Annabelle and I started to work on opening the hatch, "Speaking of Rory...Anything you want to tell us?" I asked.

"Are we going to do this now?!"

"Seems like as good a time as any. What happened?"

"Oh, stuff, you know. We split up. What can you do?"

"What can we do?" asked Annabelle.

"Nothing. It's not one of those things you can fix like The Doctor can fix his bow tie. It's life. Just life. That thing that goes on when you three aren't there." Just then, Annabelle and I got the hatch opened and we looked down the deep hole. It was so deep we couldn't see the bottom. We saw a ladder hanging down from the hatch itself, "OK, so someone else got out this way then?"

"Let's go and find them," said Annabelle.

Just then there was a banging on the door. I stood up and looked looked at the screen showing the main body of the escape pod, "What are they up to?"

One of the bodies was holding something in its hand, banging against the door, "What's that?" asked Amy.

"It one of our wristbands," I said, "Where did they get it?" I looked at my wrist and saw my band. I saw Annabelle still had hers that left only one person.

We looked at Amy and she showed us her bare wrist, "They got it from me!"

"Oh, Amy!" said Annabelle.

"Annabelle? What's going to happen to me? Seriously, tell me, what?"

The body continued to bang the device on the door and waved it tauntingly at us as we watched on the screen.

As we climbed down the ladder, Amy asked, "So, tell me. What's going to happen to me? And don't lie, cos I know when you're lying to me and I will definitely fall on you."

"The air all around is full of micro-machines, robots the size of molecules, nanogenes," I said, "Now that you're unprotected, you're being... re-written."

"So, what happens? I get one of those things sticking out my head?"

We reached the bottom of the ladder, Annabelle looked around and said, "The physical changes come later." She took Amy's hand and we started to walk down the corridor.

"What comes first, how does it start?" asked Amy.

"It starts with your mind. It's going to mess wit your feelings and your memories and I'm sorry, but it's started already."

"How do you know?"

"Because we've had this conversation four times already," I said.

"OK. Scared now."

"Good because Daleks don't get scared," I gave her a hug and we continued to walk.

A few moments later, a door opened in front of us, and we stopped. We peeked inside and though we couldn't see any Daleks… We could hear them, "What's that?" asked Amy as I pulled her back and the door closed.

"Keep a lookout," I said to Amy "and don't open this door! Oswin?! Oswin, can you hear me?!" I called out.

"Hello, Red! I have visual on you!" said Oswin

"Why don't we have visual on you?" I said, "Why can't we ever see you?

"Limited power, bad hair, take your pick. There's a door to your left, open it." I opened the door, "Going to send you a map to that screen. I've put your friends somewhere safe, I can get you to him."

"You've found Rory and The Doctor?" asked Annabelle.

"I call them Nina and The Chin. It's a personal thing - hush now."

I heard Amy say, "Who are you?" I turned and saw her looking through the door, into the room head of us.

Then I heard Annabelle ask Oswin, "How many Daleks are directly ahead of us, right now?" I turned back around.

"10, 20, hard to say," said Oswin, "Some of them are catatonic, but they do have firepower."

"How do we get past them?" I asked. Then I turned and saw Amy had gown into the room, "Amy!"

Annabelle and I ran into the room, and saw Amy looking at a bunch of Daleks "Shhh," said Amy, "It's OK. It's just people in here. It's just people."

"Amy," I said, "The nano-cloud is altering your perception. Look again, look again - those aren't people." Amy looked again and gasped when she realized she was looking at Daleks.

"Come on…" I said as I took Amy's hand, "We've got to get out of here…"

We ran down the corridor back to the ladder but it was moving, "Look, they're coming down!"

We looked up and saw the corpses coming down. We turned and ran back to the room but we saw a Dalek come out calling, "Intruder!"

We ran to the side door where Oswin showed us the map, "Run!"

"Intruder! Intruder!" called the Dalek as it tried to fire its weapon but nothing happened.

I stepped out and said, "It's damaged…"

Amy and Annabelle stepped out, "OK, but what do we do?" asked Amy.

"Dalek!" said Annabelle as she stepped forward, "Identify me! Access your files, who am I?"

"You... are... One of the Predators," said The Dalek.

"Access your standing orders concerning the Predators."

"The Predators must be destroyed."

"And how are you going to do that, Dalek without a gun?! How are you going to destroy me?!"

"Self-destruct initiated."

Annabelle used her sonic on the Dalek.

"What's it doing?!" asked Amy.

"It's going to blow itself up and us with it," said Annabelle, "It's the only weapon it's got left." She opened the top of the Dalek and scanned it.

"Self-destruct cannot be countermanded," said the Dalek.

Annabelle rolled her eyes, "Wasn't looking for a countermand," she closed the top, "was looking for reverse."

The Dalek started to go backwards back into the room, "For..wards, For..wards, For..wards, For..wards!"

Then there was an huge explosion that shook the Asylum. We started to move toward the room to investigate when Amy passed out. Annabelle took her wristband off, "She's been without this too long." She snapped it around Amy's wrist and covered her wrist for her jacket, "Good thing the Dalek nanogenes don't work on Time Lords."

I nodded and a moment later we heard a familiar voice come from inside the room, "Oswin?! What happened?! Who killed all the Daleks?" it was Rory!

Annabelle picked up Amy and carried her to the room. We looked inside and saw Rory and The Doctor, "Who do you think?" said Annabelle.

The Doctor and Rory took us to a Teleport room. Annabelle set Amy down on the pad and Rory asked, "Will sleeping help her? Slow down the process?"

"You'd better hope so," said Oswin from the speakers, "Because pretty soon, she's going to try and kill you."

Amy started to come around and Rory called her name, "Amy."

"Ow," said Amy

"Amy, you're still with us," said The Doctor as he stroked her head.

"Amy, it's me, do you remember me?" asked Rory. Then Amy slapped him, ""She remembers me."

I smiled, "Same old Amy."

"Do you know how you make someone into a Dalek?" asked Oswin, "Subtract love, add anger. Doesn't she seem a bit too angry to you?"

"Well! Somebody's never been to Scotland," said Amy.

"What about you though, Oswin?" asked Annabelle, "How come you're OK? Why hasn't the nano-cloud converted you?"

"I mentioned the genius thing, yeah?" said Oswin, "I'm shielded in here."

"Clever of you," said The Doctor, "Now this place - the Daleks said it was fully automated. But look at it, it's a wreck."

"Well, I've had nearly a year to mess with them and not a lot else to do."

"A junior entertainment manager, hiding out in a wrecked ship... hacking the security systems of the most advanced warrior race the universe has ever seen. But you know what really gets me about you, Oswin? The soufflés! Where do you get the milk for the soufflés? Seriously, is no one else wondering about that?"

"I have," said Annabelle.

"Me too," I said.

"No. Frankly, no. Twice," said Rory.

"So, Doctor, I've been looking you and your nieces up," said Oswin, "You're all over the Database. Why do the Daleks call you the Predators?"

"Were not predators," said The Doctor, "We're just a man and his nieces with a plan."

"You've got a plan?"

"We're all ears," said Rory.

"There's a nose joke going, if anyone wants to pick that one off!" said Amy.

"In no particular order," said The Doctor, "We need to neutralize all the Daleks in this asylum, rescue Oswin from the wreckage, escape from this planet, and fix Rory and Amy's marriage…"

"OK, I'm counting three lost causes, anyone else?" said Amy

Rory slaps his knee in frustration and walked away from Amy.

"Oswin, there's a Dalek ship in orbit," said Annabelle.

"Yeah, got it on the sensors." said Oswin.

"The Asylum has a force-field. The Daleks in orbit are waiting for us to turn it off. But, as soon as we do, they'll destroy this world and us with it. Oswin, How fast can you drop the force-field?"

"Pretty fast. But why would I?"

"Because this is a teleport, am I right, Oswin?"

"Yeah. Internal use only."

The Doctor snapped his fingers, "I can boost the power, though," he kneeled on the teleport, "once the force-field is down, and we can use this to beam us right off this planet."

"But Annabelle said, when the force-field is down, the Daleks will blow us up," said Rory

"We have to be quick."

"Fine, we'll be quick, but where do we beam to?" asked Amy.

"The only place within range. The Dalek ship."

"Where they exterminate us on the spot."

"This is the kind of escape plan where you survive four seconds longer?" asked Rory.

"What's wrong with four seconds? You can do lots in four seconds. Oswin! How fast can you drop the force-field?"

"I can do it from here. As soon as you come and get me," said Oswin.

"No, just drop the force-field and come to us," I said.

"There's enough power in that teleport for one go. Why would you wait for me?"

"Why wouldn't we?"

"No idea, never met you. Sending you a map so you can come get me."

Us Time Lords walked over to a screen, "This place is crawling with Daleks," said Rory.

"Yeah. Kind of why I'm anxious to leave. Come up and see me some time."

Rory leaned over the panel as we looked at the map, "So? Are we going to go get her?"

"I don't think that we have a choice," I said.

"OK, soon as the force-field is down, the Daleks will attack. If it gets too explodey-wodey in here, you go without us, OK?" said The Doctor as he handed Rory the teleport control.

"And leave you three to die?" asked Rory.

"Oh, Don't worry about us," said The Doctor, "You're the one beaming up to a Dalek ship to get exterminated." The Doctor went under the teleport platform and did some work.

"Fair point, love this plan. What about Amy?"

"You need to keep her remembering and focused, that will hold back the conversion," I said.

"What do I do?" asked Amy.

"You heard what she said," said Annabelle, "They're subtracting love. Don't let them."

The Doctor came out from under the teleport and we went to go get Oswin. We cautiously walked through the corridors. In the distance, we could hear the Daleks, "Emergency, emergency! We are the Daleks! We are the Daleks! We are the Daleks…" we heard them call out.

We continued down the corridor and The Doctor called out, "Oswin? I think we're close."

"You are," said Oswin, "Less than 20 feet away. Which is the good news…"

"And what's the bad news?" I asked.

"You're about to pass through intensive care."

The door in front of us slid open and we walked inside. There were Daleks in individual stalls. Some were chained in place, "What's so special about these Daleks?" asked Annabelle.

"Dunno," said Oswin, "Survivors of particular wars. Spiridon. Kembel. Aridius. Vulcan. Exxilon. Ringing any bells?"

"All of them," said The Doctor, as we walked forward.

"Yeah? How?"

The Doctor stopped in front of one of the Daleks, "These are the Daleks who survived me."

Then, the Daleks slowly became away of our presence, "Doc... tor... Doc... tor... Doc... tor... Doctor…"

"That's weird. Those ones don't usually wake up for anything," said Oswin.

"Yeah, well - special visitor," said The Doctor. We ran to a door on the opposite side of the room. "OK, door, but it won't open," he tried his sonic but nothing happened, "You can't be far away though…"

"Hang on, not quite sure – there's a release code, let me, let me just... Anything happening out there?"

"No," I said.

"Hang on, I'm trying a thing."

The Doctor tried to open the door by nothing happened. We slowly turned around and saw the Daleks advancing toward us on all sides, "Doc... tor... Doc... tor... Doc... Tor…" they called out.

"Oswin, get this door open!" shouted Annabelle, "Oswin open this door!"

"I can't!" she said.

"Oswin!" said The Doctor terrified, "PLEASE, GET THIS DOOR OPEN!"

The Dalkes were starting to get within reach of us as the three of us started to shout, "OSWIN! OSWIN! PLEASE, GET THIS DOOR OPEN! HELP ME!"

"Doc... tor... Doc... Tor…" said The Daleks. They got to a few inches away from our faces… Then, they stopped. They moved away from us and basically ignored us.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Oh, that is cool. Tell me I'm cool, chin boy, Red, Blondie."

"What did you do?" asked The Doctor.

"Hang on, I think I've found the door thingie…"

"No, tell us what you did!"

"The Daleks, they have a hive mind. Well they don't, but they have a telepathic web."

"The Path Web, yes," I said.

"I hacked into it," said Oswin, "Did a master delete on all the information connected with the Doctor and his nieces."

"You made them forget us?" asked Annabelle.

"Good, eh? And here comes the door!"

The door behind us started to rise, "I've tried hacking the Path Web," I said, "Even I couldn't do it."

"Come and meet the girl who can," said Oswin

We turned around and we were in shock. We were in a white white-honeycombed chamber. Near the far wall, chained up was a Dalek, "Hey! You're right outside, come on in." said The Dalek…

"Oswin... we have a problem…" I said, as we walked into the room with the door closing behind us.

"No, we don't! Don't even say that. Joined the Alaska to see the universe, ended up stuck in a shipwreck, first time out. Rescue me, chin boy, and show me the stars."

"Does it look real to you?" asked The Doctor.

"Does what look real?" asked the Dalek.

"Where you are right now. Does it seem real?"

"It IS real."

"It's a dream, Oswin," said Annabelle, "You dreamed it for yourself, because the truth was too terrible."

"Where am I?" asked The Dalek. The three of us looked at each other. None of us wanting to tell her the truth, "Where... am... I? Where... am... I?"

The Doctor then spoke up, "Because you are a Dalek."

"I am not a Dalek! I am NOT a Dalek! I'm human."

"You were human when you crashed here," I said as I touched the casing, "It was you who climbed out of the pod - that was your ladder, we used…"

"I'm... human…" said the Dalek

"Not anymore," said Annabelle, "Because you're right, you're a genius. And the Daleks need geniuses. So, they didn't just make you a puppet, they did a full conversion."

"Oswin, I am so sorry," said The Doctor, "But you are a Dalek. The milk, Oswin. The milk and the eggs for the soufflés, where, where did it all come from?"

"Eggs," said the Dalek, "Eggs."

"It wasn't real. It was never real."

"Eggs... term... in... ate," said the Dalek as it raised its gun.

"Oswin?" I asked.

"Eggs... term... in... ate. Exterminate! Exterminate!" the Dalek broke it's chains and started to advance toward us.

We started to back toward the door, "No, no, no, Oswin, Oswin listen...Oswin! You don't have to do this!" said The Doctor.

"EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!"

"Oswin!" I said.

"Oswin!" said Annabelle.

We found ourselves, once again, backed up against a door with a Dalek in front of us. Then the Dalek stopped. It's cries of "Exterminate" started to trail off into what sounded like sobbing. The Dalek looked at us, "Why do they hate you so much? They hate you so much. Why?"

"We've fought them. Many, many times," said The Doctor.

"We have grown stronger in fear of you."

"I know. I tried to stop."

"Then run."

"What did you say?" I asked.

"I've taken down the force-field. The Daleks above have begun their attack. Run!"

The door behind us opened, "Oswin? Are you…"

"I am Oswin Oswald. I fought the Daleks. And I AM... human. Remember me."

"Thank you!" said The Doctor.

"Run!"

Then we started to run off. As we ran I heard Oswin say over the loudspeakers in the corridor, "Run, you clever boy and girls and remember…"

The three of us ran down the corridors as the Asylum exploded around us. We reached the teleport room and found Amy and Rory kissing as they made up. We found out later that the reason they were breaking up was because Amy couldn't have kids after what happened at Demons' Run and she thought that Rory deserved someone who could give him kids. Rory on the hand didn't care about that. He just wanted to be with Amy.

"Right, go, let's go!" said The Doctor. But Amy and Rory were too busy kissing, "We're good, let's go!" Amy and Rory continued to kiss, "Oh, for God's sake!" He took the controls from Rory. Annabelle and I laughed as The Doctor pressed the button and a second later we found ourselves in the console room of the TARDIS.

We could hear one of the Daleks outside the TARDIS speaking, "Prepare to defend! Defend! Defend!"

"Explain, Dalek Supreme." said the Prime Minister.

The Doctor spoke up as he walked to the door. Annabelle and I followed him, "You know, you guys should really have seen this coming. Thing about me and teleports, I've got a really good aim. Pin-point accurate, in fact. Or to put it another way…"

The Doctor opened the door and we stepped out, "Suckers!" said the three of us together.

"Identify yourselves! Identify! Identify!" said one of the Daleks.

"Well, it's us! You know us!" said The Doctor

"The Doctor and his nieces, Teddy and Annabelle" I said, "Teddy and my daughter ."

"He's the Oncoming Storm…" said Annabelle, as she pointed at the Doctor. Then, she pointed at all three of us, "We're the Predators…"

"Titles are not meaningful in this context. Doctor who?" asked Darla.

"Teddy who?" asked the Prime Minister of the Daleks.

"Annabelle who?" asked the Supreme Dalek.

We looked around and smiled. Then, The Doctor said, "Oh, Oswin. Oh, you did it to them all! Oh, you beauty!"

The Daleks surrounding us started to chant, "DOCTOR WHO? TEDDY WHO? ANNABELLE WHO?"

We walked into the TARDIS but The Doctor stopped in the doorway and said, "Fellas - you're never going to stop asking." The Doctor closed the door and we headed out to take Amy and Rory home, so they could continue their reconciling.
