The Snowmen

A/N: I just wanted you guys to know that Teddy is back being the narrator for this chapter of the story and she should be for the rest the story.

After visiting with young Amelia Pond. The Doctor, Annabelle and I talked about it and The Doctor decided he was tired of traveling in time and space. He was ready to retire. He would drop Annabelle and I back in Denver if we wanted but he was going to go to Victorian London.

When I asked why he said that it was because he wanted to got to a simple time that had some friends and that was true we did have some friends in Victorian London, Vastra, her wife Jenny and their butler Strax the Sontarian. We thought Strax was killed at Demons Run but it turned out that he just fainted.

Annabelle and I talked about it and we decided that we wanted to stay with The Doctor. We were the last three Time Lords. All we had was each other so we needed to stay together.

So it was a few months after we first came to London, we had gone to see a play and then deiced to take a stroll through the new fallen snow. Annabelle and I were both wearing Victorian style dresses mine was blue, Annabelle's was dark green. The Doctor was wearing a nice purple three piece suit. We walked past a pub named the Rose & Crown. There was a young woman in a red dress looking at a rather toothy snowman. "Did any of you make this snowman?" she asked.

"No," the three of us said.

"Well, who did? Because it wasn't there a second ago. It just appeared, from nowhere."

We turned around and came back. The Doctor pulled out his reading glasses that looked like Amy's and put them on. Then he looked at the snowman and said, "Maybe it's snow that fell before," said The Doctor, "Maybe it remembers how to make snowmen."

"What, snow that can remember? That's silly."

"What's wrong with silly?" I asked.

"Nothing. Still talking to you three, ain't I?" said the young woman.

I couldn't help but smiled at that, "What's your name?" asked Annabelle.

"Clara."

"Nice name. Clara," said The Doctor, "You should definitely keep it." Then the Doctor started to walk away. Annabelle and I followed him and The Doctor said, "Goodbye!"

Clara followed us and said, "Oi! Where are you going? I thought we was just getting acquainted."

We stopped and looked at Clara. Then, sadly The Doctor said, "Those were the days." Then we walked away. We walked to the end of the alley and got into the carriage we barrowed from Vastra. Once we were inside, The Doctor closed the door and tapped the wall of the carriage, signaling our driver, Strax, to move on.

As we headed back to the TARDIS we heard Vastra's voice come from an ear horn hanging from the ceiling, "How refreshing to see you taking an interest again. Was she nice?"

"We just talked to her for just a few moments, "I said, "Nothing more."

"And your uncle made his usual impact, no doubt."

"No, no impact at all," said The Doctor, "Those days are over."

"You can't help yourself," said Vastra, "It's the same story every time. And it always begins with the same two words."

"She'll never be able to find us again," said Annabelle, "London is a huge city…

"And She doesn't even have the name, Doctor," said my uncle, "What two words?"

Just then we heard Clara's voice come from about us, "Doctor?" then the hatch in the roof of the carriage opened and she popped her head inside then hanging upside down she asked, "Doctor Who?"

A short time later, we stopped in front of a large mansion that Strax said was called The Great Intelligence Institute. Vastra wanted him to do some surveillance on the place. While he was doing that, Us Time Lords were squatting down looking at the snow. Clara was locked inside the carriage and rocking the carriage, trying to get out. "They've taken samples from snowmen all over London," said Strax as he watched what was going on in the Institute, "What do you suppose they're doing in there?"

"This snow is new," said The Doctor, "Possibly alien. When you find something brand new in the world, something you've never seen before, what's the next thing you look for?"

"A grenade."

I rolled my eyes as we stood up, "A profit," I said, "That's Victorian values for you."

"I suggest a full frontal assault with automated laser monkeys, scalpel mines and acid." said Strax.

"Why?" asked Annabelle.

"Couldn't we at least investigate?"

"It's none of our business," said The Doctor.

"Sir, permission to express my opposition to you and your nieces current apathy?" asked Strax.

The Doctor looked at Annabelle and me and we looked at each other we both nodded and The Doctor said, "Permission granted."

"Sir, I am opposed to you and your nieces current apathy."

"Let me out!" said Clara from inside the carriage.

"Thank you, Strax," said Annabelle, "And if we are ever in need of advice from a psychotic potato dwarf, you'll certainly be the first to know."

"But if the snow is new and alien," said Strax, "shouldn't we be making some attempt to destroy it? Be reasonable."

"Let me out!" said Clara as the carriage started to rock harder.

"It is not our problem," said The Doctor. "Over a thousand years of saving the universe, Strax, you know the one thing we've learned? The universe doesn't care."

"In this cab. Oi, Doctor! Let me out! Are you listening to me?"

"Now, we have a problem of our own to worry about," I said, as we walked over to the carriage.

"Let me out! Oi!" said Clara.

Then I opened the door, Clara pressed herself against the opposite side. The Doctor went in first, followed by Annabelle and myself. Then, The Doctor said, "Don't worry. No one's going to hurt you."

"What is that thing?" said Clara, as she looked at Strax.

"Silence, boy!" shouted Strax.

"That's Strax," I said, "And as you can see, he's easily confused."

"Silence, girl. Sorry, lad."

"He's a Sontaran," said Annabelle, "They are a clone warrior race. They are made in factory, whole legions at a time. Two genders is a bit further than he can count."

"Ma'am, do not discuss my reproductive cycle in front of enemy girls," said Strax, "It's embarrassing."

"Typical middle child of six million," I said.

"Who are you?"

"It's best we not tell you. The less you know about us the less jarring the worm's affect will be on you."

"Worm?"

Annabelle looked at Strax, "Strax, We need the worm."

"Ma'am," said Strax as he bowed and walked off.

"You need the what?" asked Clara, "The worm? What worm?

"Don't worry, it won't hurt," said The Doctor, "but one touch on your bare skin and you lose the last hour of your memory." Then, Strax came back empty handed, "Where is it?"

"Where's what, sir?" asked Strax.

"I sent you to get the memory worm," said Annabelle.

"Did you? When?" he looked at Clara, "Who's he? What are we doing here?" then Strax looked up and with a big smile, "Look, it's been snowing!"

"You didn't use the gauntlets, did you?" I asked.

"Why would I need the gauntlets? Do you want me to get the memory worm?"

I crossed my left arm and across my stomach, put my right hand to my head and started to shake my head.

A short time later, Strax was under the carriage, "Well, can you see it?" asked Annabelle.

"I think I can hear it," said Strax

Clara giggled. The Doctor turned to Clara, "Oi, don't try to run away. Stay where you are."

"Why would I run?" she asked, "I know what's going to happen next and it's funny."

"What's funny?"

"Well, your little pal, for a start. He's an ugly little fella, isn't he?"

"Maybe," I said, "He gave his life for a friend of ours once."

"Then how come he's alive?" asked Clara.

"Another friend brought him back. I'm not sure all his brains made the return trip!"

"Neither am I."

"I can see it." said Strax.

"Ooo! Can you reach it?" asked The Doctor, "Have you got it?"

"Got what, sir?"

Clara picked up a pair of large gloves from the front of the carriage, "Because these are the gauntlets, aren't they?"

"Sir, emergency!" called Strax from under the carriage, "I think I've been run over by a cab."

The Doctor grabbed the gauntlets from Clara, put them on, made his way to the other side of the carriage, reached down and pulled out a large white worm. He grabbed the jar from the front of the carriage star, and started to put it inside, "There you go. One touch and you lose about an hour of your memory. Let it bite you and you could lose decades." He got the memory worm in the jar and closed the lid. "And you're still not trying to run." he said to Clara.

"I don't understand how the snowman built itself," she said, "I'll run once you've explained."

"Clara who?"

"Doctor who?"

"Oh, dangerous question."

"What's wrong with dangerous?"

"The snow emits a low level telepathic field," I said.

"My snowman," said Clara.

"It seems to reflect people's thoughts and memories and because it's unusual, somehow it carries a previous shape and…"

"No," interrupted Clara as she turned me around, "My snowman." Sure enough the snowman from outside the pub was there.

"Ah! Interesting," said The Doctor, "Well, were you thinking about it?"

"Yes."

Another snowman appeared beside it and another… "Well, stop. Clara, stop thinking about the snowmen!"

The nearest snowman breathed ice at us, "Get down!" said Annabelle. We all crouched down then Annabelle looked at the young woman, "Clara, listen to me. The snow's feeding off your thoughts."

"I don't understand." said Clara.

"You're caught in their telepathic field. They're mirroring you. The more you think about the snowmen, the more they appear. Imagine them melting. Picture it. Picture them melted!"

We all closed our eyes and a moment later we were splashed with ice water. We looked around and saw the snowmen were gone, "Well, very good. Very, very good. Ha!" said The Doctor as we stood.

"Is that going to happen again?" asked Clara.

"Well, if it does, you know what to do about it," I said.

"Unless I forget."

We walked Clara back to the carriage and The Doctor put her inside, "Don't come looking for us," he said, "Forget about us. You understand?"

"What about the snow?" asked Clara, "Shouldn't we be warning people?"

"Not our problem. Merry Christmas," said Annabelle. Then she looked up at Strax, "Take her back where we found her."

"Ma'am." Then Strax drove off.

Then we started to walk to where we parked the TARDIS. We figured that since we were staying in Victorian London, the TARDIS would stand out after awhile. So instead of just fixing the chameleon circuit, we parked the TARDIS on a cloud high above London. We reached the park below where the TARDIS was. The Doctor climbed over a railing then helped Annabelle and I over. The three of us started to softly sing "Silent Night," as we walked through the park. When we reached the center of the park The Doctor looked around and saw the coast was clear he jumped up and pulled down the ladder. The Doctor went up first followed by Annabelle and then myself. Once we reached the top of the ladder, we were at a small platform that served as base of a spiral staircase. We climbed the staircase and at the top was the "Cloud" the TARDIS was sitting on. We went inside and walked into the new console room.

It was more sleek looking, more mechanical than the last two. The door was a short walk down to the console from the door. There was a gangway that ran all the way around the console room. There was a set of steps that led to the underside of the console and to the rest of the ship. There were several small seats around the railing surrounding the console. There were also more controls on the railing. "Ugh… What a night…" I said.

"I'm so glad we are back in the TARDIS, so I can put on some normal clothes" said Annabelle, as we walked down the stairs to the rest of the ship, "How can women in this time stand to be dressed like this?"

"Well, we've come a long way, baby," we laughed and headed back to our rooms. Just as we reached our rooms I heard the engines start up. "What's he up to now?" I walked back to the control room, "What's going on?"

"That Clara girl," Said The Doctor, "She found us… again…"

I smiled, "I knew I liked her. She's very spunky…"

"Pah… I hate spunk…"

"You love spunk! Every companion we ever had, had spunk!"

"Yeah… Well… Time's Change…" said The Doctor as he brought the TARDIS to a stop, "I'm going to bed… Good Night…" Then he walked off.

I shook my head, "Good Night…" The TARDIS gave a sad sounding hum. I patted the rotor, "I know… I know… Don't worry, old girl… He's still morning Amy and Rory… We just have to be patient… I've got a feeling this Clara is just what he needs to help him move on and get him back to normal…." the TARDIS gave a hum, "Well, normal for him anyway," I gave the rotor another pat, "Good Night…" Then I headed to bed.

The next day, we were in the console room. We were all doing some reading when the phone rang. The Doctor put it on speaker, "Yes? What? we're trying to read."

"Miss Clara and her concerns about the snow," said Vastra, on the other end, "I gave her the one word test."

"That's always pointless," said The Doctor.

I rolled my eyes, "That's because you can't do it," I said, "What did she say, Vastra?"

"Pond." The Three of us looked at each other, "Strax has already suggested where to start investigating."

"We are on our way," I said as I hung up the phone.

A short time later, we arrived at The Great Intelligence Institute. The Doctor for some reason insisted on dressing like Sherlock Holmes. Annabelle and I wore the same dresses we wore the night before. We walked into the office of Dr. Simeon, the founder of the Institute. There was a giant snow globe sparking with electricity in the center of the huge office. " Oh, nice office," said The Doctor, "Big globey thing. Now, shut up, don't tell me! I see from your collar stud you have an apple tree and a wife with a limp. Am I right?"

"No," said Dr. Simeon.

"Do you have a wife?"

"No."

"Bit of a tree? Bit of a wife? Some apples? Come on, work with me here."

"I enjoy The Strand magazine as much as the next man, but I am perfectly aware that Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character. Get out!"

"Do you have a goldfish named Colin?" asked The Doctor as he pointed his cane at the clerk who showed us in.

"No," said the clerk, then he left.

"Thought not. Now, ooo," The Doctor went over to the Desk and took a card off of it. He held it up to Dr. Simeon, " I see this is one of your business cards. It says so on the front."

Dr. Simeon took the card, "Who are you, and What are you doing here?"

"This," The Doctor ran over to the globe and started to smack the base of the globe with the cane, "Wakey, wakey!"

"That is highly valuable equipment," said Dr. Simeon, as he grabbed The Doctor's cane, "You must step away now."

"We are the Intelligence," said a voice from inside the globe.

"Hmm," I said as Annabelle and I walked up to the globe, "Talking snow. That's new,

"I love new things." said The Doctor.

"You three are not of this world," said the Intelligence.

"Takes one to snow one," said The Doctor, with a laugh. When he saw no one else was laughing he stopped and said, "Right"

Annabelle stepped up to the globe, "A Multi-nucleate crystalline organism with the ability to mimic and mirror what it finds. It looks like snow. But isn't snow."

"You must leave here now," said Dr. Simeon.

"Shut up, We are trying to make deductions," said The Doctor, he turned to the globe, "Now, what are you? A flock of space crystals? A swarm? The snowmen are just foot soldiers, mindless predators, But you, you're the clever one. You're Moriarty."

"So, you turn up on a planet, generate a telepathic field to learn what you can and when you've learnt enough, what do you do?" I took out my sonic and locked the doors.

"You can't conquer the world using snowmen," said Annabelle, "Snowmen are no good in July. You'll have to be better than that. You'll have to evolve."

"Sir, it appears to be stuck!" as he tried to come back in.

Dr. Simeon went to the door to try to open it, "What have you done? Have you locked the doors?"

"You need to translate yourself into something more, well, human," I said to the globe.

"Kick it down,"

"To do that you'd need a perfect duplicate of human DNA in ice form," said Annabelle, "Where do you find that?"

"Sir?" said the clerk.

"Get in here, quickly!" said Dr. Simeon.

"I've got a master key somewhere, sir."

We walked over to the desk and The Doctor said, "Now, let's see. Most opened file, most viewed page." The Doctor tossed Dr. Simeon's scrap book in the air and let it drop to the floor. It fell open to a page with the news clipping with the headline, "Tragedy at Darkover House."

I looked at Dr. Simeon, "You know, you really should delete your history, Governess frozen in pond. Gotcha!"

The three of us ran for the French doors behind Simeon's desk.

When we got to the Darkover House, and The Doctor walked along the ledge of a small frozen pond outside the house and scanned it with his sonic, "Body frozen in a pond. The snow gets a good long look at a human being, like a full body scan."

"Everything they need to evolve," I said, "Pond. Perfect choice of word, Clara."

"What are you doing here, Strax?" asked Annabelle.

I turned around and saw Strax behind us with a weapon, "Madame Vastra wondered if you were needing any grenades?" he asked.

"Grenades?"

"She might have said help."

'Help for what?" asked The Doctor.

"Well, your investigation," said Strax.

"Investigation?" said The Doctor, "Who says we're investigating? Do you think I'm going to start investigating just because some bird smiles at me? Who do you think I am?"

"Sherlock Holmes."

Annabelle and I laughed a little at that, "Don't be clever, Strax," said The Doctor, "It doesn't suit you."

"Sorry, sir," said Strax.

"We're the clever ones, you're the potato one."

"Yes, sir."

"Now go away."

"Yes, Mister Holmes."

Annabelle and I laughed a little harder at that, "Oi! Don't encourage him!" said The Doctor. Then he looked back at Strax, "You're not clever or funny, Strax! And you've got tiny little legs!" Then, The Doctor looked up at the house. I looked to see what he was looking at and I saw Clara watching from a window. She waved had he waved back. She motioned for us to come up. He pointed at himself then at her. The Doctor turned back to Annabelle and I and said, "Okay, I'm just going to tell her we're not going to go up and that we are leaving." He turned back to Clara and held up five fingers and gave her a thumbs up. Clara smiled and walked way, "What was that about?" He smacked his head, "Five minutes, where did that come from?" he pointed at his hand, "You." Then he bit his thumb. He climbed down from the edge of the pond and we heard the pond start to crack. We turned and saw an icy woman claw out of the ice. We were surprised when we saw her turn into snow and fly up to the same floor that Clara was on.

We ran inside through the back door and upstairs. When we got upstairs, we heard Clara shouting "To the schoolroom!"

I looked and saw we were next to the schoolroom. "In here!" I said. The three of us went into the room and ran behind a small puppet theater. When Clara and her two charges a young boy named Digby and a slightly older girl named Francesca came in. Clara bolted the door at the top and bottom then Francesca said, "What do we do?

"Frannie, Frannie, imagine her melting." said Clara as she held the young woman by the arms.

"What?"

"In your head. Melt her."

"I can't!" she said

"I'm getting impatient!" said the ice woman. Then she forced the door opened, "You have been very naughty!"

"What about the people you told us about?" said Digby, "You said the man and his nieces were here, the cloud people."

"Well, they're not, are they?" said Clara, as she tried to keep the children behind her.

"Where's The Doctor?"

"I don't know!"

I stepped out from behind the theater and said, "Doctor?"

Then, Annabelle stepped out from behind the theater, "Doctor?"

A Punch puppet popped up from behind the theater, with The Doctor's sonic in it's hands, "Doctor who?" He pointed the sonic at the ice woman and she shattered. The Doctor then stood up and said still using the Punch voice, "That's the way to do it." Punch then kissed The Doctor, "Oi. Ow."

I shook my head. I walked over to the rug where the ice woman broke apart. I took out my sonic and started to scan it, "Where did she go?" asked Francesca, "Will she come back?"

"No, don't worry," I said, "She's currently melting into your carpet. A new setting Annabelle and I came up with. Anti-freeze."

"And you're very welcome, by the way," said The Doctor to Clara.

"I'm very grateful. I knew you'd come." she said.

"No, you didn't, because we don't," said The Doctor as he started to walk away, "Because this isn't the sort of thing we do any more. Next time you're in trouble, don't expect us to…" The Doctor caught a glimpse of himself in a mirror.

"What is it?" said Clara, as we all walked up behind him, "What's wrong?"

"Sorry, it's just. Didn't know I'd put it on," said The Doctor. Then he straightened his bow tie. He hadn't worn a bow tie since we came to Victorian London. It was nice to see him wear one again, "Old habits."

"It's cooler."

"Yeah, it is, isn't it?" said The Doctor, "It is very cool. Bowties are cool."

I rolled my eyes and then Clara said, "No, the room. The room's getting colder."

"She's coming back!" said Digby. We turned and saw a bulge start to form in the carpet and it was getting bigger.

"What's she going to do?" asked Francesca, "Is she going to punish me?"

I pointed my sonic at the bulge but nothing happened, "Apparently, she somehow learned not to melt," I said.

"Of course, she's not really a governess, she's just a beast," said The Doctor as he walked up to the children, "She's going to eat you." He took the children by the hand, "Run."

Then we all ran out of the room and down the main staircase. When we got about halfway down the steps the children's father and Clara's employer, Captain Latimer stepped out, "Children, what is the expla…." then he looked at us Time Lords,"Who the devil are you? What are you doing in my house?"

"It's okay," said The Doctor, "I am your governess' gentleman friend, and we've just been upstairs… kissing!"

I shook my head, "I'm his niece, Teddy and this is my daughter, Annabelle…"

"Captain Latimer," said the Latimer's maid, Alice ran in, "In the garden, there's snowmen!" The front doorbell started to ring, "And they're just growing out of nowhere, all by themselves. Look!"

Alice ran to answer the front door, I heard Vastra's voice say, "Good evening. I'm a Lizard Woman from the Dawn of Time, and this is my wife."

Alice scream and ran back toward us, only to run right into Strax as came in from the back of the house, "This dwelling is under attack," he said, "Remain calm, human scum."

Alice screamed again and fainted. The Doctor walked down the stairs and up to Captain Latimer, "So, any questions?"

Captain Latimer looked up at Clara, "You have a gentleman friend?"

"Really?" I said, "Out of everything you've heard in the last 30 seconds and that's the only question you have?"

"Vastra, what's happening?" asked Annabelle, as she and I walked down the stairs. We walked with The Doctor over to a window and looked out. We saw snow coming down.

"The snow is highly localized, and on this occasion not naturally occurring," said Vastra.

"It's coming out of that cab parked by the gates," said Jenny.

"Ma'am, one pulver grenade would blow these snowmen to smithereens," said Strax.

Annabelle rolled her eyes, "They're made of snow, Strax," she said, "They're already smithereens."

"See, Clara? Our friends again," said The Doctor as we walked back over to the bottom of the stairs.

"Clara? Who's Clara?" asked Captain Latimer.

"Your current governess is in reality a former barmaid called Clara."

"That's the way to do it!" called out the voice of the ice woman.

We looked up at saw her almost at the top of the stairs, "Meanwhile your previous governess is now a living ice sculpture impersonating Mr. Punch," I said. I looked at Jenny and asked "Jenny, what have you got?"

Jenny threw a ball at the ice woman and she was trapped inside a force field.

"That should hold it," said Jenny.

"Ma'am, this room," said Strax as he came out of the study, "One observational window on the line of attack and one defendable entrance."

"Okay," said Annabelle as she snapped into solider mode, "Everyone in there. Now. Move it. Captain Latimer, help me carry her," she said as she pointed at Alice.

Everyone else headed into the study while The Doctor and I used our sonics to strengthen Jenny's force field, "Nice to see you off your cloud and engaging again." said Vastra.

"We're not engaging again, we're under attack," said The Doctor.

I looked at my uncle, "Admit it… You miss this, don't you?"

The ice woman continued to beat on the force field. The Doctor gave me a smile and said, "Shut up."

The Doctor, Vastra and I walked into the study, "Strax, how long have we got?" asked The Doctor.

"They're not going to attack," said Strax, "They made no attempt to conceal their arrival. An attack force would never abandon surprise so easily, and they're clearly in a defense formation."

"Way, aye, aye," said The Doctor as he fake boxed Strax, "Well done, Straxie. Still got it, buddy." The he gave him a noogie and kissed him on the top of his head, making a face.

"Sir, please do not noogie me during combat prep," said Strax.

"So there's something here they want," said Vastra.

"The ice woman," said Clara as she stood up

"Exactly," said The Doctor.

"Why's she so important?" asked Jenny.

"Because she's a perfect duplication of human DNA in ice crystal form," said The Doctor, "The ultimate fusion of snow and humanity."

"To live here, the snow needs to evolve and she's the blueprint," I said, "She's what they need to become. Clara, when the snow melted last night, did the pond?"

"No." said Clara.

"Living ice that will never melt," said Annabelle, "If the snow gets hold of that creature on the stairs, it will learn to make more of them. It will build an army of ice. And it will be the last day of humanity on this planet."

Just then, The doorbell rang. The Doctor cracked his neck, "Teddy, Annabelle, with me. The rest of you stay here."

Annabelle and I followed The Doctor into the hall. But, we weren't alone, Clara followed us, "Oi! told you to stay in there." said The Doctor.

"Oh, I didn't listen." said Clara.

"You do that a lot."

"It's why you like me."

"Who said I like you?"

Clara grabbed The Doctor and kissed him. Annabelle and I stood there in shock with our mouths hanging open. The Doctor struggled to break the kiss and a few moments later Clara pulled away and said with a smile, " I think you just did."

"You kissed me."

"You blushed."

"And we just… Shut up."

The Doctor went do the front door and opened it. Dr. Simeon was there with snowmen around him, "Release her to us. You have five minutes." Then he turned away and The Doctor closed the door.

"We need to get her out of her," said Annabelle, as she pointed as the ice woman, "but keep her away from them."

"How?" asked Clara.

The Doctor took an umbrella from a stand, "With this. Do I always have to state the obvious?"

I rolled my eyes. Captain Latimer came out of the study, "Those creatures outside, what are they?"

"They are no danger to you, as long as we get that thing out of here," I said, "Please go back into the study. Your children need you right now, to make them feel safe." Captain Latimer did as I asked

Then, The Doctor went up the stairs and pointed his sonic at the force field and it started to fluctuate. "What are you doing?" asked Clara, as she, Annabelle and I came up to him.

"Between you and me, I can't wait to find out," said The Doctor with a smile. The force field turned off and reformed behind the four of us. The ice woman started to come down the stairs "Right, if you look after everyone here, then I can… Clara!" said The Doctor as he realized where she was.

"Doctor," said Clara. The ice woman swiped at us, we ducked under her arms and ran up the stairs, "That was stupid!"

"You were stupid, too," said Clara.

"I'm allowed. I'm good at stupid."

The ice woman continued to follow us, "That's the way to do it!"

"Why does she keep saying that?" asked Clara.

"Mirroring. Random mirroring." said The Doctor.

"We need to get on the roof," said Annabelle.

"This way!" said Clara as she grabbed The Doctor's hand and pulled him off.

"No, I do the hand grabbing," said The Doctor, "That's my job. That's always me!"

We went up to a third story window where there was a flat portion of roof. The Doctor went first, then I followed, "Come on, quickly!" said The Doctor. "What are you doing?"

I turned around and saw Clara was stuck in the window, "My bustle is stuck." she said.

"Your bustle?" said The Doctor. The Doctor and I walked up to her and grabbed onto Clara's arms while Annabelle, who was still inside pushed from behind. As a result, Clara fell out of the window and onto The Doctor and me.

"Are you guys, OK?" asked Annabelle as she came through the window.

"Yeah…" I said… "I'm fine.

The Doctor looked up at Clara, "You're going to have to take those clothes off." All three of us females gasped and looked at him with wide eyes, "I didn't mean."

"I know. I understand, I do," said Clara.

"Good," said The Doctor.

"Now, what's the plan?"

"Who said we've got a plan?"

"Course you've got a plan. You took that," said Clara as she picked up the umbrella The Doctor grabbed on our way up.

"Maybe we're idiots," I said as we all stood up.

"You're not. None of you are," said Clara, "You're all clever. Really clever."

"Are you?" asked The Doctor as he threw Clara the umbrella.

"If we've got a plan, what is it?" I asked, "You tell us."

"That's the way to do it!" said the ice woman from the window.

"Is this a test?" asked Clara.

"Yes," said The Doctor.

"What will it do to us?"

"Kill us," said Annabelle.

"That's the way to do it!" said the ice woman, then she turned to snow to get out of the window.

"So Do we have a plan?" I asked Clara again.

"Oh, I know what your plan is," she said to The Doctor, "I knew straight away." she tossed him the umbrella.

The Doctor tossed it back, "No, you didn't."

"Course I did."

"Show us," said Annabelle.

"Why should I?" asked Clara.

"Because we'll be dead in under thirty seconds," I said, "What's the plan?"

"If we'd been escaping, we'd be climbing down the building. If we'd been hiding, we'd be on the other side of the roof. But no, we're standing right here."

"So?" asked The Doctor.

"So!" Clara reached up with the handle of the umbrella and pulled the ladder down as the ice woman started to reform, "After you." she said to The Doctor.

"After you," said The Doctor.

"After you, we are wearing dresses. Eyes front, soldier!"

"My eyes are always front!" said The Doctor as he started to climb.

"Mine aren't." said Clara.

The Doctor stopped for a second and looked down at Clara, "Stop it."

"No," she said with a smile. The Doctor continued to climb then Annabelle and I went up. Clara stepped onto the bottom rung of the ladder and looked at the ice woman, "I understand you're the previous governess. I regret to inform you the position is taken," she tapped the ladder with a the umbrella and it started to raise "Goodnight." When she reached the base of the spiral staircae she asked, "So you can move your cloud? You can control it?"

"No. No one can control clouds," said Annabelle, "But we can control the wind, a little bit."

The ladder started to shake, we looked down and saw the ice woman starting to climb the ladder, "She's following us."

"That's the idea," I said, "We need to keep her away from the snow." We then started to go up the spiral staircase.

"So. Barmaid or governess, which is it?" asked The Doctor.

"That thing is after us, and you want a chat?" asked Clara.

"Well, we can't chat after we've been horribly killed, can we?"

"How did we get up so high so quick?" asked Clara as we all most reached the cloud the TARDIS was on.

"It's taller on the inside," said Annabelle.

"What am I standing on, what's this made of?"

"Super dense water vapour," I said as the Doctor pointed his sonic at the staircase to thicken the clouds to close the hole temporarily.

"Should keep her trapped for the moment," said The Doctor.

"Do you actually live up here on a cloud, in a box?"

"We have for a long time now."

"Blimey, you lot really know how to sulk, don't you?"

"We're not sulking," I said.

"You live in a box!"

"That's no more a box than you are a governess," said The Doctor as he walked up to the TARDIS to unlock it.

"Oh, spoken like a man. You know, you're the same as all the rest. Sweet little Clara, works at the Rose And Crown, ideas above her station," The Doctor unlocked the doors and we went into the darkened console room. Clara continued "Well, for your information, I'm not sweet on the inside, and I'm certainly not…" the Doctor turned on the lights, and Clara was awed by what she saw, "Little."

The three of us Time Lords stood in front of Clara. I stood on The Doctor's left and Annabelle on his right, "It's called the TARDIS," said Annabelle.

"It can travel anywhere in time and space," I said.

"And it's ours," said The Doctor.

Clara was still awe struck, "But it's… Look at it… it's…"

"Go on, say it. Most people do,"

Clara ran out of the TARDIS. We just continued to stand there so I assumed she did a lap around the it then came back inside and said, "It's smaller on the outside."

The three of us stood there dumbfounded, "Okay, that is a first."

We turned to the console and started to prepare to take the TARDIS back down to earth, "Is it magic?" asked as she walked around the console, "Is it a machine?"

"It's a ship," I said.

Clara walked up halfway up the steps that lead to the gangway, "A ship?" she asked.

"Best ship in the universe," said Annabelle.

Clara walked back up to the console and asked, "Is there a kitchen?"

"Another first," said The Doctor.

"I don't know why I asked that. It's just, I like making soufflés," Clara then moved toward the doors.

We all looked up and looked at each other then at Clara, "Soufflés?" said The Doctor as we walked up to her.

"Why are you showing me all this?" asked Clara.

"You followed us, remember? We didn't invite you."

"You're nearly a foot taller than I am. You could've reached the ladder without this," Clara held up the umbrella, "You took it for me," she three the umbrella back to him, "Why?"

"I never know why," said The Doctor as he took a TARDIS key out of his pocket and held it up, "I only know who." Then he put it in the palm of her hand.

"What's this?" asked Clara.

"Me. Giving in," said The Doctor. I stood there smiling who knew this spunky girl from Victorian London would be the one to break my uncle out of his shell.

Clara had tears in her eyes, "I don't know why I'm crying," she said.

"I do," I said, as us three Time Lords took our positions around the console, "Remember this day. Because this is the day, your life truly beings!" We were ready to start the TARDIS when I heard growl. I looked up and saw the ice woman dragging Clara, backward out of the TARDIS. I could heard the sound of TARDIS key Clara was holding fall to the floor.

"Clara!" the three of shouted as we ran after Clara and the ice woman, "Clara!"

"Get off of me!" said Clara as she struggled to free herself.

"Water vapor doesn't stop ice," said The Doctor as we took our sonics out and pointed them at the ice woman, "I should've realized."

"Get off!"

"Let her go," ordered Annabelle, "Let her go now! Now!"

"Get off of me!" said Clara.

"Clara!" I shouted.

Clara looked at the three of us. Then, she and the ice woman fell backward over the edge of the cloud.

"Noooo!" we shouted. We reached the edge of the cloud and saw Clara and the ice woman falling to the Earth thousands of feet below us.

"Come on!" I said. We ran as fast as we could back to the TARDIS, locked on to Clara to materialize the TARDIS around her and prayed that we would be in time to save her. But, we were too late. When, Clara appeared on the floor, surrounded by chunks of ice, she was gone.

We moved the TARDIS inside the house. The three of us brought Clara out of the box and laid her on a table in the study. Strax took out a device that would bring her back but her injuries were too severe, we would need a miracle for her to stay alive.

Everyone but The Doctor, who was still in the TARDIS, watched as Strax worked on Clara. "That green woman said she was dead. How can she be alive now?" asked Captain Latimer.

"This technology has capacities and abilities beyond anything your puny human mind could possibly understand," said Strax, "Try not to worry."

Vastra, Annabelle and I were standing near the TARDIS. I saw Vastra go inside and I decided to follow her. The Doctor was standing at the console, scanning the ice chunks with his sonic and putting them into a London Underground souvenir lunchbox. "Isn't the creature still a danger?" asked Vastra, "It could reform."

"No, not in here," said The Doctor as he continued to work.

"Then you should be with Clara," I said.

"She's going to be fine. I know she is. She has to be."

"Uncle, her injuries are very severe. That equipment will bring back anyone for a while, but long term…"

"It was my fault. I am responsible for what happened to Clara. She was in my care."

I shook my head, "No Doctor, it was our fault. We were responsible for what happened to Clara. She was in our care." I knew it was just as much my fault as The Doctor's. I didn't think of shutting the door. If one of us had thought of closing that door. Clara wouldn't have been in that study fighting for her life..

Vastra looked at us, "What is the point of blaming yourselves?"

"None," said The Doctor, "Because she's going to live." Then The Doctor walked out of the TARDIS. Vastra and I followed him. He handed the box of ice to Jenny then us three Time Lords walked up to Clara.

"Hello," The Doctor said to her.

"They all think I'm going to die, don't they?" she said.

"And I know you're going to live."

"How?"

The Doctor reached into his jacket, "I never know how." He took out the TARDIS key he gave her before. He kissed and placed it in her hand, "I just know who." He closed her fingers around it and kissed the back of her hand.

"The green lady. She said you three were the savers of worlds once. Are you going to save this one?"

"If we do, will you come away with us?"

"Yes."

"Well then," He kissed her on the forehead, "Merry Christmas," The Doctor stood up, straightened his bow tie, took back the lunch box and headed to the front door. I followed him and when he opened the door Dr. Simeon was there flanked by snowmen, The Doctor held up the box, "I have in my hand a piece of the Ice Lady. Everything you need to know about how to make ice people. Is that what you want? See you at the office."

The Doctor then closed the door and headed for the TARDIS. "I'm going to stay here," I said, "One of us should be here with Clara." I didn't wante

"I'm staying too," Said Annabelle, "Just incase the snowmen decide to attack."

The Doctor nodded then headed in the TARDIS followed by Vastra.

I pulled a chair up to the table and held on to Clara's hand as she rested. There wasn't much chance of her surviving. But, there was a tiny chance she could make it. I prayed to every deity in the known universe that Clara would be okay.

Jenny and Annabelle stood by the window and watched the snowmen, "They're growing! The snowmen are growing!" said Jenny

Captain Latimer walked up to the window, "What should we do?" he asked.

"Nothing right now," said Annabelle, "The snowmen are still just sitting there. If we do anything to provoke them, it could be more that just Clara that might lose their lives tonight."

Several minutes later, Strax started to see a spike in Clara's vital signs, "No, you must fight," said Strax, as he tapped away, "Hang on and fight, boy. You can do it."

"Captain Latimer…" Said Clara weakly. He walked over to the other side of the table and took her other hand, "Your children… They're afraid… Hold them…"

He looked at his children then back at her, "It's not really my area."

"It is now," Then I saw a single tear fall from Clara's eye. Then there was a flash of lighting and a clap of thunder.

"The snow," said Jenny, "it's turned to rain."

"And, look at the snowmen," said Annabelle, " They are starting to melt. The Doctor must have won…"

I stood up and walked to the window, I opened the window and got a handful of water. I tasted it, it was salty, "The Doctor didn't defeat The Great Intelligence… Clara did…"

"How?" asked Jenny.

"The snow was a telepathic reflective parasite," I said, "All it could do was reflected the thoughts and feelings of its host. The snow was reflecting the hate that Simeon had. But, somehow, Simeon is gone. So it has to reflect something else. There is a huge mass of snow here. The only thoughts and feelings here are sadness. The only force on Earth that could stop the snow was a whole family crying on Christmas Eve," I looked over at the Latimer's. Captain Latimer had his arms around Francesca and Digby as they cried against his chest.

A short time later, The TARDIS returned. The Doctor and Vastra stepped out and Strax gave him the bad news, "I'm sorry," said Strax, "There was nothing to be done. She has moments only."

I was still sitting next to Clara when The Doctor walked up he kelt down next to her. Annabelle walked over and joined us. She kelt down next to me and gave me a comforting hug, "We saved the world, Clara, the four of us. We really, really did."

"Will you go back to… your cloud?" she asked weakly.

"No more cloud," said The Doctor, "Not now."

"Why not?" asked Clara as she closed her eyes.

"It rained."

There was a pause then Clara spoke, "Run. Run, you clever boy and girls." She opened her eyes one last time and whispered, "And remember." Then she closed her eyes for the last time.

As her eyes closed the clocked chimed midnight, "It's Christmas," said Jenny, "Christmas Day."

A couple of days later, us three Time Lords, Vastra and Jenny were standing in a graveyard watching as the Latimer's paid their final respects to Clara. We stood a good distance away from them to give them some privacy.

"And what about the Intelligence?" asked Vastra, "Melted with the snow?"

"No, I shouldn't think so," said The Doctor, "It learned to survive beyond physical form."

"Well, we can't be in much danger from a disembodied Intelligence that thinks it can invade the world with snowmen," said Jenny.

"Or that the London Underground is a key strategic weakness," said Vastra.

The Doctor took a card out of his jacket pocket, "The Great Intelligence. Rings a bell. The Great Intelligence."

We saw the Latimer's leave, then The Doctor, Annabelle and I stepped forward. When we reached the grave we knelt down. Then looked at gravestone and we were absolutely stunned by the name on the stone. It read:

Clara Oswin Oswald
Remember me,
We shall meet again
Born November 23,1866
Died December 24, 1892

"Doctor? Teddy? Annabelle?" we heard Jenny call out.

When Vastra and Jenny reached us, said The Doctor, "We never knew her name. Her full name."

I thought about Oswin Oswald, the Junior Entertainment Manager of the Starship Alaska, "Soufflé girl," said The Doctor, "Oswin. It was her."

"The last words both of them said to us was the exact same," said Annabelle, "They both said, 'Run, you clever boy and girls, and remember."

"It was Soufflé girl again," said I said, "We never saw her face the first time with the Daleks, but her voice, it was the same voice."

"Doctor?" asked Jenny, "Teddy? Annabelle?" She was clearly confused about what was going on .

"The same woman, twice," said The Doctor, "And she died both times. The same woman!"

"Doctor, please, what are you talking about?" asked Vastra.

"Something's going on. Something impossible, something…"

"Something we need to look into… Now!"

"Right, you two stay here," said The Doctor, Stay right here. Don't move an inch." Then, the three of us started to run out of the graveyard.

"Are you coming back?" asked Vastra.

"Probably not!" called Annabelle.

"But where are you going?"

I stopped and looked at our friends "To find her," I said, "To find Clara!" I laughed and went to catch up with my uncle and daughter.

We ran into the TARDIS and got her ready for departure, "Clara Oswin Oswald. Watch us run," said The Doctor. Then he pulled the lever to start our quest to find Clara.
