It had been 8 years, and the now 13 year old Ruby was using her powers to lift stuff all around.
Right now, Ruby had learned to use her powers to help those in need, and even unlocked her Aura and Semblance.
When she tried to talk herself, her family learned that Jaques took away her vocal cords so that she wouldn't defy him, so she can only communicate with telepathy.
As she grew up, she learned to control her powers, and use special moves with them.
One was known as Shadow Ball, where she created a purple sphere of energy.
She could also use Psychic Barriers, and counter attacks if she was hit by them, doubling the damage, similar to her sister's semblance. As for Ruby's Semblance, she is able to rush at high speeds in short bursts in a flurry of Rose Petals.
Ruby right now was flying over Patch, with Yang being lifted by her.
"This is so great Ruby! I wish I could be like you!"
Yang, said Ruby, you're perfect just the way you are.
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean I can't wish for it."
Now, ready to try that landing strategy again?
"Wait, what!?"
Ruby then dropped Yang, and Yang started to scream.
Ruby, meanwhile, just floated down, while lazing about.
"RUBY, YOU'RE MAD!"
Beacon does this same thing, only it's from a cliff, said Ruby.
"OKAY! I'LL TRY!"
Yang then shot down from her weapons to slow her down. However, she ran out, and Ruby then held Yang, and she said, You gotta save the the amo. I know it can be scary falling like that, but you need to learn how to conserve it if you're running low.
"Easy for you to say. You got unlimited attacks," said Yang.
Yeah, said Ruby, But that's me. Next time, we'll practice how to conserve the amo.
"Oh joy," said Yang.
Just then, Ruby felt something, and said, Mom and Dad are in trouble! Quick!
Meanwhile...
Summer was blocking some attacks from their assailant, and Tai was attacking physically.
"GO! SAVE YOURSELF SUMMER!"
"NO! I'M NOT LOOSING YOU TAI!"
Tai then said, "FIND RUBY AND YANG! TAKE CARE OF THEM! TELL THEM I LOVE THEM!"
"T-"
"GOOOOOO!"
Summer was about to grab Tai, and when she did, Tai let his hand loose, just as soon as Summer teleported herself away.
She caught her breath, just as the attacker appeared before her. She then launched an attack, only for something to block it, and send it right back at her.
LEAVE MY MOTHER ALONE! yelled Ruby.
The attacker then got up, and stood against Ruby.
"How? I thought I made sure Summer wouldn't have children," said the attacker.
Yang then freaked out, and yelled, "YOU'RE THE ONE WHO TOOK AWAY HER CHANCES OF A DAUGHTER!"
The attacker looked at Summer and her family, and said, "So, you're the daughter of Raven Branwen?"
"I'd rather not be compared to her," said Yang, "Who are you!?"
"She just showed up, and attacked me," said Summer.
"I am Salem, Queen of the Grimm. Not that you will live much longer."
Salem then fired a stream of power, only for Ruby to counter it.
Ruby then used the moment to escape with her family, and rushed off. However, they noticed someone missing.
"Where's Dad?" asked Yang.
"You're father... gave his life for me," said Summer.
What? asked Ruby, But, who was that?
"We may need to ask Ozpin," said Summer.
Soon, they arrived at Beacon, and they explained their situation.
"I see," said Ozpin, "I'm afraid that you're part of something much bigger."
"What do you mean?" asked Yang.
"Let me ask you: what's your favorite fairy tale?"
Soon, the trio knew all about the attacker, and where she came from.
"So, that's why she attacked mom: because of her eyes?"
She killed dad, said Ruby, she will pay for that!
Summer then hugged Ruby, and said, "I know that you're going to miss him, but revenge isn't the answer! Your father wouldn't want that."
Ruby held her mother, and Yang joined in, until Ruby said, I'm sorry!
Ruby broke the hug, and shot straight up into the air, making the air blast around her.
Soon, Ruby arrived at an island, and she looked out at ocean.
It was there, she finally asked a question:
Who am I!? Why was I created like this!? What is my destiny?!
And I swear on this Salem, this is neither attack, or declaration of war! I WILL avenge father, and you will suffer, and I will strike back
AGAINST YOU!
Ruby's eyes glowed with hate, and decided to train to make herself stronger. And it was there, she stayed, for the next 2 years.
