Kristoff looked up from the bed. It was dark, but the lamp lit up the table by the window. Anna was sitting reading.
"You should sleep," Kristoff said.
"I just want to get through a few more documents. The ship from Maldonia is supposed to arrive tomorrow."
"You'll have time to read them tomorrow. You need sleep."
"It's not that late," Anna insisted.
"Do you know what time it is?"
"Do you?" Anna asked, deflecting the question.
"The clock is right there. It's two in the morning."
Anna sighed and filed away the letters.
