Before we begin, i would like to make another clarification: this story is a sequel to both the original 1972 manga/ 1987-1990 OVA of Devilman and the 1998 anime of Devilman Lady (not the manga). As such it picks up after the events of the Devilman Lady anime, not after those from the manga (this means that, yes, Ryo will not appear in this story. I apologize for all those who would have liked him to).
And i just wanted to thank you CountOrlok777. I greatly appreciated your review. And yes, we really do need more actual Devilman stories based from the original manga instead of on Crybaby.
Finally, on a sidenote, am i the only one who thinks that Yu Yu Hakusho's music fits Devilman perfectly? Must be because the two series are actually pretty similar.
With that out of the way, let's begin.
Chapter 14: Demon Versus Beast - Part 1
Sirene still coudn't believe her eyes.
In front of her stood a devil, that with the exception of its gender, looked almost exactly like her hated enemy, Devilman. Not only that, it was someone she had known for weeks.
"How… how can this be…" she muttered, still shocked beyond any belief. Ever since her awakening in this world a month and a half ago, she had realised, when she had integrated herself in human society, that many people were not human and at the same time she quickly realised that they were not demons too. But never would she have expected something like this to happen.
Noticing her shock, Jun grinned evily again before taunting "Look at you, cowering in fear like that. Where's your arrogance now, you filthy beast? " while narrowing her eyes at Sirene at the same time.
That taunt had the exact effect Jun hoped to achieve, because all of Sirene's fear, shock and bewilderment dissappeared and a look of pure rage and outrage formed on her face, her mouth widening in anger, teeth clenched.
"F-FILTHY BEAST?! HOW DARE YOU INSULT ME!" She roared, pure rage and bloodlust echoing from her voice, while with a flap of her wings, she lifted herself off the ground, several meters in the air now hovering above Jun. She then declared "For that i, Sirene, shall hang you with your own guts! And then your friend will join you, IN HELL!" while pointing one of her talons at Jun. The Devil Lady had just incurred the Demon Bird's wrath. She had insulted Sirene's pride. But Jun was not going to let her get away, not after what she was about to do.
Jun in return grinned even more, while spreading her arms and sprouting a pair of large purple bat-like wings on her back. She then replied "You're welcome to try, bitch!" in a taunting tone. She then spread her wings to their fullest span before declaring "Now, taste the wrath of the Devil Lady!"
They both then let out a mighty battle cry and charged each other, Jun taking off with a mighty flap of her wings to meet Sirene in combat, leaving a still stunned Takeshi on the roof.
(OST: "Monster Suit" final part = Yu Yu Hakusho soundtrack = watch?v=TkAJ8E990Wc )
Jun then flew up towards Sirene while the Demon Bird swooped down towards her and they traded a blow, causing some of Sirene's feathers to fly, before they both found each other at the other's original position.
They then flew a dozen of meters higher before they charged at each other again. This time, Sirene with a mighty roar, swung one of her arms towards Jun in a slashing motion but the Devil Lady ducked and delivered a punch at Sirene's face, sending her flying a few meters backwards. As she regained control of herself mid-flight, Jun flew towards her and began to unleash a furious barrage on fists and kicks towards her.
But Jun's fury quickly turned into annoyance and surprise as Sirene gracefully sidestepped and avoided each and every one of her attacks with a smug toothy grin on her lips. It was almost captivating to watch: the graceful way she seemed to dance between Jun's punches and kicks, how she seemed to put such little effort in avoiding those attacks. It was almost like Jun's attacks were moving in slow motion to her.
"GRRR! STAND STILL YOU WENCH!" Growled Jun in frustation, in between her assault. But this only caused Sirene's smug grin to widen even more.
"What's wrong? Did you not say that you were going to tear me apart limb from limb?" taunted Sirene before she caught one of Jun's fists in her hand, pulled Jun close to her and punched her in the stomach, causing her to spit blood, but she wasn't done there. She then backhanded Jun in the face causing her to fly upwards but Sirene beat her to it. Rising upwards to her faster than she could react, Sirene shot a telekinetic bolt at Jun's chest, causing her to fly downwards towards a skyscraper.
She crashed onto a window, somehow not breaking it, causing her to close her eyes and grunt in pain, but before she could recover, Sirene swooped down towards her and drove Jun through the window and into the building, crashing through walls, desks, tables and office rooms before coming out at the other side of the building, pieces or rubble, glass and all sorts of stuff, falling out. Then she tossed Jun's bruised body towards the roof of another building.
Right as Jun hit the roof and got herself back up, Sirene came towards her, intending to finish her off with one swift strike of her talons. She taunted once again "IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO?!" before bringing her talon down, but Jun to Sirene's shock, caught it with her hands, stopping the Demon Bird in midair.
"HERE'S SOME MORE!" shouted back Jun, before she slammed Sirene to the ground face-first with a considerable amount of force causing the floor of the roof to crack. She then aimed a punch at Sirene's head but the Demon Bird promptly thrust herself in the air with a push of her arms and legs, causing Jun's fist to instead hit the floor, creating a small crater in it.
Then Sirene, after gracefully flipping herself in the air, landed on top of Jun, pinning her to the ground. She then brought one of her claw down on her head, but Jun dodged to the right and grasped Sirene's sides with her arms, once again stopping her. With a snarl, she put one of her feet on Sirene's abdomen and pushed her upwards, several meters in the air while simultaneosly backflipping back on her feet. But before Sirene could regain control of herself, Jun grabbed her by her left leg and slammed her back on the floor, this time by the back, earning a grunt of pain from the Demon Bird. But she wasn't done. She then put another one of her hands on Sirene's leg before lifting her up, swinging her around in a circle and tossing her through a rooftop sign, destroying it.
Jun then took off towards Sirene, who spinned in the air for a couple of seconds, before she regained control of herself. A spiteful scowl formed in her face upon noticing Jun flying towards her, teeth bared and eyes narrowed towards the Demon Bird.
"THINK AGAIN!" Roared Sirene before extending both of her arms towards Jun and unleashing a much more powerful telekinetic bolt. Jun had only a couple of seconds to gasp in shock before the quickly crossed her arms over her face. But the attack proved too powerful and it sent Jun flying downwards this time crashing into a (thankfully empty and moored) tourist boat in the river, breaking it in half and causing it to begin to sink.
(soundtrack ends)
Sirene landed on the riverbank and watched with a deadpan look, as the boat was slowly slipping underneath the surface. She then spoke "Hmph. To think that for one moment i was afraid of this lowly creature. What a waste of my time." she then turned around but before she could take off in search of her hated enemy, a loud rumbling snapped her head back towards the sinking boat. Seconds later, the sinking boat was torn apart, a gigantic column of water replacing it.
Jun came out from the peak of the column, wings spreaded majestically, her arms at her sides downwards with her hands curled into a fists, and a obviously enraged look on her face.
"LISAAAAAAA!" She roared, her fangs on full display, her voice filled with nothing but animalistic fury. The Demon Bird gasped in surprise for a moment before her trademark arrogant, smug and prideful smirk made its way back on her face
"Hehehehehe…...I see. Perhaps you are not such a worthless insect after all!" She chuckled darkly before taunting the beast in front of her, causing Jun's scowl to grow even more. Maybe this could actually turn out to be a challenge, one Sirene hadn't had in a while.
"Arrogant little bitch." replied spitefully Jun while hovering in mid-air "Just seeing that filthy smile of yours makes me sick. How can you enjoy this?! Do the lives of others truly mean nothing to you?! How could you throw away your humanity like this?!" she continued, her anger growing even more, pointing a clawed finger towards her.
In response Sirene merely closed her eyes before her whole upper body began to shake, a dark chuckle coming from her mouth, before she threw her head back and her chuckle turned into a maniacal, amused laugh, angering Jun even more.
"ANSWER ME!" She demanded, only for Sirene's laughter to die down and her gaze to once again meet Jun's own.
"HA! Me, a former human?" asked Sirene, her arrogant smirk still present on her lips "Fool. You could not be more wrong about that Jun." she spoke, causing a look of surprise to replace Jun's scowl.
"What?" she asked, caught completely off guard by Sirene's statement. The Demon Bird then declared proudly "This is who i have always been. Sirene, one of the proudest, mightiest and most beautiful warriors of the demon race!" causing Jun's mouth and her eyes to widen in shock.
"D-Demon Race?!" was all she could utter in disbelief. The one in front of her was not a Beast? That would explain why her scent felt different from one.
Sirene then brought one of her clawed hands towards her with the palm facing upwards before continuing "Thousands of demons were felled by these talons in eons of battle and slaughter! You are nothing but a novice in comparison! What little time i have spent in this new world has been nothing but a little speck of my entire existence!"
Jun was even more shocked. She coudn't believe what she was hearing. That statement confirmed that "Lisa" never existed. She was nothing but a disquise hiding the true creature like a shell, waiting to be cracked open. Not only that, she had used the world eons. Eons of battle and slaughter. Just how much had this Sirene lived?
"W-what do you mean "this new world"?! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU?!" she demanded, her voice and her face full of bewilderment and disbelief.
In response Sirene grinned even more than before before spreading her wings and her arms. She then spoke "You will have to find out by yourself. That is…" she paused, before launching herself in the air with a mighty flap of her wings.
"IF YOU CAN CATCH ME!" she proclaimed while flying higher and higher towards the dark clouds in the sky of the city.
(OST: Devilman OVA soundtrack (the track that plays from 2:20 to 4:04) = watch?v=WNZKCp5EDPc )
Not wasting a second, Jun readied her wings and propelled herself towards the clouds in pursuit of the Demon Bird. She soon found herself in the middle of said clouds and scowled at the realisation that she had been tricked. The Demon Bird's talons could come from every possible direction.
"WHERE ARE YOU?!" Roared Jun in frustation, looking left and right, waiting for the attack to come, but silence was her only reply.
It didn't last long.
"WHERE ARE YOU LOOKING?" Came Sirene's taunting voice, completely taking Jun by surprise as it came from behind. As soon as Jun turned towards her, Sirene clamped her legs around Jun's back effectively putting her into a lock. She then brought one her talons down on Jun but the Devil Lady caught it with one of her hands, but before she could retaliate, Sirene's other arm shot forwards and clamped around Jun's throat. The two were essentially immobilised and began to plummet downwards through the clouds.
Sirene then brought Jun's head towards her face, the Demon Bird's piercing blue eyes meeting the golden cat-like eyes of Jun. A vicious smile formed on Sirene's lips. There was something in Jun's eyes, a ferocity, a determination, a fire that put the gaze of many demons to shame.
"Mmmmm… You have such a blazing fire in your eyes. I like that." she began in an oddly seductive, lustful tone, unsettling Jun. The way she said it, almost sounded like flirting….. if it weren't for the sheer bloodlust that radiated from every word that left her mouth.
"However, it is no different….." she continued before removing her legs from Jun's back, tightening her grip on Jun's throat, causing her to choke "FROM THAT OF A MINDLESS BEAST!" she declared before tossing Jun downwards out of the clouds. She then dissappeared from her current position before reappearing in the direction Jun was headed, before kicking her in the back, sending her flying back towards the clouds.
However Jun halted herself, regaining her balance, before with a "Tsk!" she flew upwards towards the end of the clouds with Sirene in hot pursuit.
"Hmph! You truly think that you can run from me?" she taunted before following Jun throught the clouds.
They both emerged from the clouds, facing each other, now thousands of meters in the air, the beautiful star filled sky and the shining moon, replacing the clouds.
Sirene then charged at Jun this time trying to sink the talons of one of her feet on her chest but the golden eyed beast caught her leg before the talons could reach her flesh. She then tossed Sirene to the side but the Demon Bird, quick on her wings charged towards Jun once again only this time the Devil Lady with a mighty flap of her wings, jumped over the Demon bird, getting behind her.
"LET'S SEE WHAT YOU TASTE LIKE!" Roared Jun before she caught Sirene from behind by one of her wings with her right hand, and with the other, outstretched the Demon Bird's left arm, holding it in place. She then opened wide and sank her teeth on Sirene's left shoulder, causing her to shriek in pain.
"HOW DARE YOU!" she screeched, before grabbing Jun's head with her left hand, the talons sinking slightly in her flesh, causing her to let go before she could tear a chunk of flesh from Sirene's shoulder. The Demon Bird then put her other clawed hand on Jun's head, lifting the beast up over her before tossing her downwards.
Jun found herself spinning uncontrollably in the air for a few moments, but as she halted herself, Sirene came down towards her and slammed one of her clawed feet on her chest, blood coming out profusely, causing Jun to cry out in pain at the talons sinking into her breasts and abs. Sirene then removed the foot from Jun's chest before clamping it around her neck, causing her to choke. They were now falling down, out of the clouds and to the ground. Somehow, they had ended up outside the city, in the nearby woods.
Right as Jun put her hands around the foot in an unsuccesful attempt to free herself, Sirene taunted "You wanted to taste my flesh, right? THEN TASTE MY TAL-" only to cut herself mid-speech and for her smug smile to be replaced by a look of surprise upon noticing as sparkles of blue electricity began to flow around Jun's body followed by the back of Jun's forearms glowing light blue.
A wide, toothy grin formed on Jun's lips, startling Sirene. Instinctively, she quickly released Jun's throat right as the fur on Jun's forearms turned into a a pair of sharp blades, one on each forearm. Sirene cursed: one second more and she would have, most likely have lost her foot.
However, immediately thereafter she gasped in shock as Jun brought one of her arms back before shouting "SAY HELLO TO MY DEVIL CUTTER!" she quickly swung it towards Sirene, aiming to cut her in half with her Devil Cutter.
Sirene had only seconds to react. Just as the blade was about to make contact with the Demon Bird, her body became engulfed in a yellow aura before vanishing completely. The blade seemingly only struck nothing but air, much to the surprise and annoyance of Jun.
(Soundtrack Ends)
"What? Teleportation?!" Exclaimed a surprised Jun upon noticing Sirene suddenly being enveloped by the aura and dissappearing. That was a first. Not one of the enemies she had faced ever since she first became a Devilman, not even Asuka possessed such an ability.
The Devil Lady then landed to the ground, using her wings to slow down her landing. She had ended up in the clearing of a forest, in a field of grass. Not long thereafter, she heard the sound of Sirene landing behind her on a giant 10 meter tall rock.
Jun, upon turning around, grinned wickedly in satisfaction. In front of her, on top of the rock, Sirene was crouching down, her right hand on the ground, panting heavily in pain and shock. With the other hand she was clutching her right breast and side, blood trickling down from them. A deep cut had been formed on her side and breast, the latter of which now was almost split in two, held together only by some fibers of muscle, courtesy of Jun's Devil Cutter. Even if it didn't completely work, Jun had managed to injure her.
"H-How could this be?" , mused the Demon Bird in her mind. She coudn't believe it. This lowly beast had managed to cut her, to spill her blood. Only a select few demons had earned that privilege. And now Jun was among them. If she had been even a fraction of a second late, if she hadn't teleported, mere microseconds before the blow came, she woud have been sliced in half.
"Well? How does it feel being cut? How does it feel, to realise that you've bitten off more than you could chew? Where's you bravado now, huh?" Taunted Jun, while bringing her right arm to her mouth before wickedly licking the blood on the blade, sprouting on the back of the forearm, causing Sirene to clench her mouth, baring her teeth in anger and outrage.
"Mmmmm…. Delicious….." began lustfully Jun, revelling in the taste of Sirene's blood. She then lowered her arm and took a few steps towards her opponent, still on the rock before continuing "Your heart is next. And after that i'll t-" in an unhinged tone only to stop upon watching as Sirene's clenched mouth reformed into a vicious smile and she began to chuckle darkly.
"Fool! It will take a lot more than that to put me down!" she stated, before closing her eyes and grunting in slight pain. Her torn breast and side regenerated in seconds, causing Jun's golden eyes and mouth to widen in shock and horror.
(OST: "Meikai" = Yu Yu Hakusho unreleased soundtrack = watch?v=-8ASch4bU4Y )
She then stood up before continuing "I was only distracted for a moment. I didn't know you could attack me that way." with a deadpan look and tone, before her trademark vicious smile returned, causing Jun to take a defensive stance.
"But rest assured: i am done playing around." continued Sirene, chilling Jun to the core. "You managed to spill my blood. Very few demons have had that honor." she proclaimed, bringing one of her hands in front of her, palm facing upwards "Rejoice Jun, because you have earned the right to see my true power! You have proven yourself worthy of dying by my talons! And that is the highest compliment i can give."
Jun despite keeping her stance, had lost her composure "All this time, she was holding back?! She even healed from that last attack?!" she mused in her mind while her eyes and her whole body began to shake in a mix of anxiety and fear. She had even brushed off her Devil Cutter which had cut through dozens of beasts in the past.
Noticing the beast in front of her beginning to shake, Sirene's smile grew even more and she taunted "Oh. Are you afraid now? Have you finally realised the difference between our strength?" causing Jun's fear to be replaced by ire for a moment. Sirene then narrowed her eyes at Jun before continuing "How amusing. But you are still not scared enough, Jun. Allow me to rectify that." before being enveloped in a yellow aura and dissappearing once more.
Jun tensed up at Sirene teleporting once again only to gasp in shock and fear as she spoke once again, this time her voice coming from behind her "I have to commend you though: i did not expect you to entertain me as much as you did. For that, you have my respect. But all good things eventually come to an end." her voice full of bloodlust but at the same time, courtesy. The Demon Bird had recognized Jun as a worthy opponent, a privilege very few demons had earned.
Instinctively, Jun with a growl, quickly spun around and attempted to slash Sirene with a backwards slash of her right Cutter only for Sirene to teleport once again much to her irritation.
She then reappeared on her left, before taunting "Too slow." Jun tried to slash her once again only for Sirene to vanish once again.
After this happened for a third time, Jun exclaimed "Why are you hiding?! COME OUT AND FACE ME!" in a furious tone. Yet, no matter how much she tried, she coudn't hide the anxiety and dread in her voice. That ability to vanish and reappear at will was proving to be quite annoying. And Jun was about to find out just how deadly it could be.
"Poor Jun. You seem to have entirely misunderstood me." came Sirene's voice once again, this time from no particular direction, causing Jun to tense even more. Now she really was shaking in stress and fear. She didn't know where the next attack would come from. She was pulled out of her thoughts by Sirene continuing "It is pointless to resist Jun. It only prolongs the inevitable conclusion."
However Jun, in spite of her dread, remained defiant. No matter what Sirene had planned, no matter where the attack would come from, all she had to do, was driving one of her blades into Sirene's body. And if that won't work, she still had her own energy to use against her.
"But be assured, this will be your inevitable conclusion, no matter how long it will take for us to reach it!" exclaimed Sirene before reappearing again on Jun's right a dozen meters before her . Her entire body surged with yellow energy before she roared" NOW DIE!" and extended her left arm towards Jun, her hand outstreched, before firing a yellow beam of energy towards her.
"SHIT!" Screamed Jun upon realising what was happening. She had only a few seconds to turn towards the blast before covering her face and upper body with her arms and with the Cutters on each forearm and hoping for the best.
She then screamed in immense pain as the blast struck her head on, destroying her blades, blowing away several small chunks of flesh from all around her body and leaving several burn marks on her lower body. Luckily her upper body wasn't as damaged and her face was left almost intact due to her covering it with her arms and blades. The blast sent her flying right into nearby trees of a forest destroying a couple of then before creating a large explosion, which destroyed many more.
(Soundtrack Ends)
As soon as the smoke cleared out, Jun could be seen lying on her back in the middle of a trail of utter destruction. An entire part of the forest had been completely wiped out, small fires breaking out on each side of the trail, the grass being replaced by barren soil.
She attempted to get up only to fall back to the ground, this time on her knees and hands. Blood came out of her mouth as she clutched her side. Many pieces of flesh had been burned off from her body by the blast and many scorch marks had been inflicted by it.
Jun grunted in pain before focusing and regenerating the pieces of flesh that had been torn off. Luckily she hadn't been too seriously hurt by it, thanks to her Cutters who had protected most of her upper body. Still the burns she had suffered had weakened her, and most importantly, her Cutters were gone.
"D-dammit….. If i hadn't covered myself with my cutters i would have died…." was all she could manage in a mix of relief and shock. She could not believe the power that this Sirene wielded. The only other times she had witnessed a power of such a scale was in her battles against Giga-Beasts, or in the final battle against Asuka. How could someone the same size as her wield such power with such ease? Either way, she had a feeling that she would not survive another one.
"Mmph. Impressive. I did not expect you to survive that. What an interesting turn of events." came Sirene's voice, which snapped Jun back to reality and back on her feet. The Demon Bird was now perched upon a tree with her back turned on the moon which shone brightly behind her, giving her an outline.
"However i must ask: do you still have the strength left to fight me? You can barely stand. Why don't you make things easier and submit?" she questioned, narrowing her eyes towards the Devil Lady. This beast had just turned out to be full of surprises. To be able to survive such an attack was certainly something to be proud of.
Sirene's face stirred a little upon seeing a smile form on Jun's lips before wiping the blood on her mouth with her left arm. She then replied tauntingly "Don't get too cocky, you little pigeon. I'm not done with you yet. In fact…." pausing briefly before getting into a stance, a light blue aura, surrounding her "…. I'm just getting started!"
Sirene returned the grin, before spreading her arms, welcoming her challenge. Things were starting to get really interesting.
"Then come! Show me that power of yours!" she declared before jumping from the tree and swooping down towards Jun with great speed.
(In the meantime)
As Akira was walking to his cart shop for another night of work, he stopped upon noticing dark clouds covering the sky. Apparently a storm was coming. He could sense the wind blowing gently, all sorts of things like flags or linen flowing in its direction. Yet, he had a feeling that something was about to happen. It was too calm tonight.
"I don't know why, but i have a feeling something big is about to happen tonight…." he mused in his mind while on the way to his cart shop.
As if on clue, as soon as he arrived to the cart shop, his phone rang. He took it off his pocket and saw that Takae was calling for him. After putting it on his ear, he began "Hi, Takae. Wh-"
"AKIRA! PLEASE! YOU HAVE TO HELP US!" only to be interrupted by the young girl's panicked voice, startling him a little.
"Woah, slow down Takae! What's all the fuss about, this late in th-" he continued, in a laid back tone, only to be interrupted once again.
"MISS FUDO IS IN DANGER!" Shouted once again Takae, causing Akira to stop dead in his tracks, his eyes widening. All of his thoughts went towards Jun, his girlfriend. What could possibly have happened?
"Takae. What happened?" he replied, his voice calm but dead-serious, taking the horned girl completely aback.
"It was an bird like beast, with angel-like wings and eagle like-feet! It attacked her agency and captured her! We saw it on the news just 10 minutes earlier! As soon as we saw it, Takeshi scrambled off on his way to save her…." She spoke, her voice cooling off a little.
As soon as those words were uttered, all of Akira's composure dissappeared and his mouth dropped in shock, his eyes beginning to shake upon hearing what he feared.
"S-Sirene….." was all he could manage, utterly petrified at the revelation that one of his greatest adversaries was back. And now she had set her eyes on Jun. Most-likely she had attacked her, to lure him into battle, just like she did with Miki's family back on Akira's world.
"Akira…. You…. You know wh-" began Takae, her voice full of shock and disbelief upon finding out that Akira knew the creature that had attacked Miss Fudo.
"CALL KAIM! HE HAS TO KNOW!" shouted Akira, interrupting Takae mid-sentence, remembering the promise he made to him a couple of weeks ago.
"But Akira, you must help Tak-" she began only to be interrupted once again by the half-demon "DO AS I SAY! I MADE A PROMISE TO HIM! IN THE MEANTIME I'LL DO WHATEVER I CAN TO STOP HER AND SAVE TAKESHI AND JUN!" panic, concern and fear could be clearly heard in his voice, taking Takae by surprise even more. She had no idea of what was going on between him and Jun. And she had been kept oblivious to the promise Akira made to Kaim.
"Akira…. Alright, i'll try to contact Kaim as soon as possible. Please, Akira…. Be safe." she replied her voice now calm.
"Don't worry, everything's gonna be alright." he replied simply, before hanging the phone. Not wasting a second, he put his phone on his cart shop, before removing his shirt and shoes. His dark red bat-like wings then sprouted from his back and he took off, soaring through the skyscrapers of the city.
"Why, Sirene?! Why did you have to drag Jun into this?!" he mused angrily in his mind. He knew she would have eventually have come for his head in revenge, but using his beloved ones once again to do so, after she cowardly sent Agwel and Ghelmer to attack Miki and her parents? Oh, boy to say Akira was now extremely pissed off was an understatement.
"Sirene. You better pray to whoever you demons pray to, that Jun is still alive by the time i find you. I don't even want to imagine what will be left of you if i find out you have hurt her or even murdered her…" he mused once again, not even wanting to think about what carnage he will unleash upon finding out, what Sirene did to his girlfriend. He had promised Kaim to reunite him with his beloved Sirene. But now, he wasn't sure anymore if he will keep that promise, especially if Sirene will take the life of another person close to him.
And to a lesser extent, he was worried about Takeshi too. Sure he had proved himself to be quite skilled back when he and Akira fought all those lesser demons but he knew for a fact that he was no match for her. After all, if it wasn't for Ryo healing him, he would have died back after his battle against Sirene. And yet that tickheaded beast had gone all out to save Jun from her, without any idea of how powerful she truly was.
"Jun…. Please hold on. I'll save you." he mused once again in his mind. Having never seen Jun in action in her demonic form, he had no idea of how she would fare against a high-ranking demon warrior such as Sirene. Then again, she had saved the world and not one, but two races, from evil forces. Takeshi and the girls would never stop gabbling about it. The way they spoke about her, of her battles and her accomplishments sounded like the stuff of legends.
And so he put his thoughts aside and increased his speed, hoping to arrive in time.
