"Heh, well well, looks who's finally waking up" a man says tothe other two. All three men look towards the third, who was tied up and blindfolded trying to get a sense of where he was. The three watched for a while before anyone spoke again.
"Can't we just kill him and get this over with already?" Asks a henchman. The the man in blindfolds starts to panic
"W-wait, please! I have money! I can give you as much as-" the man was struck before he could finish
"The value of this ship is worth more then you can ever offer, kid. Save it" the leader Said sounding a little annoyed. He composed himself for a moment before talking again. " look kid, I'm sorry you got caught up in thud. Maybe it was something you did in your previous life that got you in this situation."
The leader pulls out a pistol before one of the henchman spoke up " come on, just kill him already"
Sounding more annoyed the leader spoke again " maybe you raiders kill people before looking then in the face, but I ain't a fink, dig?" The leader turns his attention back to his captive " you made your last delivery kid, but truth be told, the whole thing was rigged from the stary"
A gunshot goes off and the radio stops playing. Making the whole bar silent a few laughed and continued drinking while the shooter smiles and puts his pistol back into his Hollister. Proud of his work.
"I was listening to that..." a sad voice came from the left of the bar. The raider turn in his stool to look where the voice came from " yeah, And what the fuck are you going to do about it?" He says looking the other man up and down.
The man who looks a little over 20 remains silent, trying to enjoy the rest of his smoke and whiskey. When the raider knew he wasn't going to get a answer he continued " what are you some sort of ranger drop-out?" Again, the man stayed silent. Getting rather annoyed at this point, the raider jumps off his and storm over to the man " hey, I'm fucking talki-" the raider was cut off by a loud gunshot and falls limp.
" I really wish people would stop shooting each other in my bar" the bartender complained before turning to the gunslinger " you say your not a ranger, but you dress and shoot like one. So what's your story?"
The gunslinger, looking rather annoyed at this point turns to pick up his drink " I'm not one to tell stories old man, I got the armor as a gift, and I'm leaving it at that" he says before taking a sip.
The bartender chuckles before eyeing up the gunslinger, then grins " would a bagfull of caps help loosen those lips?"
This got the gunslingers attention " I'm listening..."
The bartenders grin widens " I need a package delivered to a place called bunker hill in the commonwealth. The commonwealth itself is about a months travel from here by foot"
" you're fucking kidding me right?" The gunslinger looks in discuss
" let me finish. You only have to walk for about a week before a vertibird will pick you up for the rest of it. You will get paid a quarter of it now, and the rest when you make the delivery" the bartender continued.
The gunslinger sturd his glass for a moment " what's the catch, it seems like you have enough pull to do this without outside help." He says before taking another sip.
"The catch is, you have to be knocked out before entering the virtibird and will be dropped off at a unknown location. You have to find your own way to bunker hill." The bartender finishes.
The gunslinger mulls it over some more before downing his drink and placing the glass on the bar "make it half and you got a deal. No questions and I'll do whatever it takes to get it delivered"
The bartender let's out a loud laugh " spoken like a true merc, alright kid you have a deal. The name is Paul. Tell the virtibird pilot I sent you" Paul extens his hand
"Murphy" the gunslinger says shaking Paul's hand.
Paul leaves for the kitchen, then returns after a few minutes with a bag of caps. Placing it on the table. "here's the agreed amount. 10,000 caps right now and 10,000 more when delivered" Murphy takes the caps and attaches it to his belt. Paul then places another smaller bag on the table. " this is the item I need delivered to bunker hill, do not open it"
Murphy grabs the bag a holds it for a moment " I assume it's inappropriate to ask what's in here?" Paul didn't say anything, but Murphy got his answer " right right, I'll leave in a few hours" he then gets up and starts walking out of the bar before pausing " uh... where am I meeting the virtibird?"
" so your finally leaving the Mohave huh?" The shopkeeper asked Murphy.
Murphy continues to browse for supply while he spoke "yeah, going to the commonwealth for a special job,u won't bore you with details but it's probably going to take a while." After browsing for a moment longer he sighs " man, I really wish you would stock more ammo chris"
" it's usually the first thing that gets sold Murphy, I can't really do anything about it" Chris shrugs "having you gone is going to be a hit on the sales as is. I have to save somethings for other travelers" Chris laughs
" after all these years, I'm still just a customer to you, huh?" Murphy smirks and turns to Chris giving a moke hurt expression.
" we've known each other for a few months Murphy, that's hardly a few years " Chris sighs and leans against the wall " think you'll come back?"
"Hard to say, getting back will be a trip all on its own, I might stay there for a bit at least" Murphy answers a little saddened
"Well, just be careful. I know you like to show off" chris smiles. " I remember you trying to play roulette with a bandit once and you ended up with the fully loaded revolver."
" if I remember correctly I still got your ass out of there" Murphy shoots back with a smile " and it was your idea to-"
"Swear jar" a small voice comes from behind chris. A eight year old pokes her head from behind chris leg
Murphy sighs and puts a cap into a jar on the counter. ' I swear, I'm the only one they hound on this bullshit' Murphy thought to himself. " well, I should be going. The job isn't going to finish itself"
" just be careful" Chris finishes before waving. Murphy gives a lazy wave back
Walking down the road Murphy was alone with his thoughts. ' this job should be simple, just need to find this bunker hill place and delivere this thing.
Hopefully nothing will go wrong' Murphy laughs cause he knew it always dose.
