Chapter 6: Salvation Lies Within
As Lincoln opened his eyes, he found himself on the ground. He was dismayed to find that the hellfire he had
cast himself into had not freed him from the iron claw of his demonic father. As he gazed at the fire and
brimstone surrounding him along with the blood curdling shrieks of lost souls, he saw Lineos descend towards
him.
"You can try all you want to escape your birthright, but I'm afraid it will prove fruitless."
"I'll never join you; you'll never be my father!" Lincoln said angrily.
"Well, if that's the case, maybe it's best if I started acting like a father. My first act will be to give you a time out."
Lineos answered.
Lincoln could only gulp as Lineos led him to a wall of jagged brimstone where he quickly chained his "son" to
the wall.
"When you're ready to accept your place as a Nephilim and join me in conquering the white city, then I will
release you." With that he took his leave to go deal with the poor lost souls burning in eternal damnation.
Lincoln could only sigh at his circumstances, now he was trapped in eternal darkness, all alone without his
family. Although he was now aware that they weren't his biological family he had grown to love them like they
were. What he wouldn't give to be back with them right now, he could only imagine how brokenhearted they all
must be without him. He could imagine his mother crying herself to sleep at night, his father preparing salty
tasteless food after sobbing his eyes out at losing him. Lynn acting as if she didn't miss him when really she
was equally as shattered inside. His more sensitive sisters like Leni, Luna, Lana and Lola being utterly
devastated and would likely be unwilling to talk or do much of anything. Lisa desperately trying to use science
to open a gateway to heaven… where he wasn't so it would be a fruitless attempt. Lucy was probably hard at
work trying to summon spirits who could find him and deliver him from harm. He questioned what his youngest
sister Lily would be feeling, eventually she'd be bound to notice the lack of his presence in the house and go
looking for him, but knew that if he was trapped forever then she'll likely forget she even had a brother being so
young and forgetting all about him as she grew up.
Lincoln began to question if this really was for the best, he had never sinned. He had never hurt anyone before,
he was always there for his family when they needed him and did his best to spend time with them all. He was
pure of heart and anyone who had ever met him would support that statement.
That was the final straw! He didn't belong here, and he knew it! He needed to escape from this hellhole and
find some conceivable way to return home.
Although it became inherently clear that if he was going to escape, he had to come up with a plan on what to
do if he escaped and what needed to be done in order for him to return to earth. He needed to find someone to
help him, and although Uriel had said he planned to sacrifice him, as an angel he likely was on the side of
virtue and righteousness.
But for now, there was nothing Lincoln could do but think. Think of a plan… let it come to him… eventually he
nodded off to sleep left to his own thoughts. But unbeknownst to him his salvation was not a lost cause
because he had a savior on his way to free him…

"Lincoln?"
Lincoln slowly opened up his eyes to see a man kneeling in front of him. He was a tall white man who looked to
be in his early to mid 40's, he had brown hair in angelic curls and had a curly beard and mustache. His attire
consisted of nothing more than a white sash held with a gold button paired with a light blue pair of shorts and
sandals with tall straps that had been laced up halfway up his calves.
Lincoln could now see that this man was his saviour as although he felt that he was still in the underworld, he
could help him escape from the cruel fate that had befallen him.
"Who..who are you?" He asked.
"I am Soter, the dæmon of safety, preservation and deliverance from harm."
"So you're a.. a good person?"
"Of course my son, I sensed that you had been wrongfully taken to a realm you were never meant to enter. It
was my solemn duty to find you, release you from your prison and deliver you from harm."
Lincoln could hardly contain himself and immediately approached Soter to hug him close whilst shedding tears
of joy. Soter graciously accepted the hug and returned it before kneeling down to his eye level.
"Come now, follow closely and I will lead you on the path to heaven." He said before walking off into the fire
and brimstone to lead him to the path of righteousness.
Lincoln could not think of anything else but to follow him, hoping that his words were true and he was truly his
saviour who could save him. Although in the back of his mind, he heard a faint voice reminding him that he was
taking him to heaven, when his goal was to return to earth. But he knew that goal would have to wait, and
although it eluded him now, he knew that he had to at least try to get back home…..
