Chapter 2-The Intergalactic Tournament

"LADIIIIEEES AND GENTLEMEN! Welcome to Battle Island! Home to the first ever intergalactic martial arts tournament! 200 fighters are enrolled in the preliminary round which is now underway on 8 specially designed combat stages! The rules are simple. 25 contestants will be pitted against each other on each stage in a battle royale. The last man standing will move on to the next round!"

As the announcer shouted out the rules over the loudspeaker, the crowd was going wild. The tournament was just one big brawl, and the spectators loved every minute of it. Of course, even the most intense martial arts fan was nowhere near as over the top as a particular tiger mom cheering on her baby.

"GO GOHAN! BEAT 'EM ALL, YOU CAN DO IT" Chichi was waving fans around and giving her all to support her little boy, so much so that even the frenzied fans started to back away from this weirdo.

"Wow Chichi," Bulma said, not really surprised by her friend's overtness. "I'm surprised you let Gohan compete."

"All he does is sit at his desk and study." Chichi said a little disappointed. "At least this way he can get some exercise."

As the two moms continued their conversation, Gohan was out on the stage really enjoying himself. He darted back and forth, throwing opponents off left and right, utilizing the chaos to the greatest advantage. True he could probably just blow everyone off the stage with a single attack, but where was the fun in that? He decided he was going to limit his power enough to make this a challenge. As he landed a kick on probably the tenth person, the rest of the fighters took notice of him and decided to all team up to put this kid in his place.

Almost as one, they charged the preteen powerhouse to try and shove him off the stage. The first of the fighters to reach him locked hands with Gohan and the rest of the fighters pushed from behind. The man upfront was grinning as he pushed Gohan back to the edge of the platform. Unfortunately for him, and the 13 others behind him, Gohan wasn't going to let himself be pushed off so easily.

"Excuse me?" Gohan asked politely, which shocked the man since he was almost out of breath and this kid wasn't even breathing hard.

"W-what?"

"I was just wondering if it was my turn now. I'm gonna start if that's ok?"

The man's eyes bulged out of his head in surprise as he and everyone behind him were pushed all the way to the other side of the ring and over the edge in the blink of an eye.

"And the first winner of the preliminaries is Son Gohan!" Cried the announcer in moderate disbelief.

Gohan put his hands together and bowed. "Thank you."

On the other platforms trunks, Krillin, Piccolo, and Tien Shinhan, all made it to the next round, as well as 2 sumo wrestlers, and a fighter named sky dragon.

Gohan gathered along with the rest of the preliminary winners to see the matchups for the next round.

He looked around till he spotted the shiny dome he was looking for. "Hey Krillin!"

The short monk looked around and sighed. "Oh, hey Gohan. How's it going?" He asked, feeling incredibly dejected. 'So much for that easy pay day.'

"I'm doing great! Piccolo said that tournaments are great experiences for training and boy was he right. I'm learning a lot."

"So, Piccolo's the one who invited you huh? But wait a minute how did he find out about this!? Doesn't he live in the mountains and deserts and stuff? He doesn't really seem like the type to keep up on current events, does he?" Krillin stated both confused and annoyed that a super Namekian and 2 super Saiyans ruined his chances to win the tournament.

"Well, I think Dende told him about it." Gohan answered, not really worried about such details.

"Oh man! And I'm the one who told Dende I was going to be training for it." Krillin was close to tears at this point. "If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any."

"Alright contestants listen up for your next matches." The announcer stated, drawing the pair's attention away from Krillin's misery.

"First up will be Son Gohan versus Udo!" Gohan looked over at the blonde sumo and nodded.

"Next is Tien Shinhan against Trunks. Followed by Piccolo and Krillin. Finally, Dosukoi versus Sky Dragon. Alright contestants now that the matchups are decided let's get out there and give the audience the show of their life!"

Gohan looked up at his opponent who towered over him.

"Listen kid I'm not into crushing weaklings so you sure you wanna do this?" Udo gave the preteen a condescending sneer.

Gohan bowed and simply said "Yes."

"Heh! You got guts kid, AND I'M GONNA SHOW EM TO YA!"

He lunged at Gohan, who countered with a punch right to the stomach sending the giant flying through a cliff and off into the sky. "Thank you for the lesson." Replied Gohan with a smile and a wave.

Everyone watching the match went bug eyed when they witnessed its outcome, particularly one mustachioed world martial arts champion. Hercule knew that the kid looked familiar. It was that kid from the Cell games. The following match only proved his theory as Trunks and Tien decided to give the crowd a good show. They were flying around and fighting at top speed. Almost nobody in the audience could track them, and the action only stopped when Tien fell into the water. Trunks reached down to help his friend out, and the crowd cheered at the display of sportsmanship and the awesome fight they had just witnessed. Most of them thought it was all special effects, but they didn't care. It was just fun to watch.

Hercule was horrified "Why of all the tournaments did they have to join mine." The champ mumbled to himself.

Krillin and Piccolo's fight didn't last long. In fact, it wasn't a fight at all. Krillin got so worked up that he flew straight at Piccolo, ran into his cape, and plummeted off the stage, totally forgetting he could fly, and falling into the sea. Piccolo opened his eyes and yawned. "That was a good nap. What did I miss?" He asked the referee who then declared him the winner.

The last match was won by Dosukoi, who threw Sky Dragon off the stage.

For the last round of the tournament the four fighters would go into 4 separate tunnels which lead to a battle zone where they would meet and fight the "intergalactic guests" hired by X.S. Cash. Following their fight, they had to race to a special rocket car to where Hercule would be awaiting them for the final bout.

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, AND THEY'RE OFF!" The rocket cars went through the tunnels and towards their battle zones.

"HAHAHA! WOW! This is great!" Yelled Gohan. As he sped through the tunnel, he almost forgot he was in the tournament. That is until he crashed into the lava.

"OWOWOWOW!" Gohan flew out of the rocket with his hair on fire, jumping around before finally putting it out. 'Man, I better be on my guard. This place seems dangerous.'

Remembering what Piccolo had taught him about staying focused, he tried sensing for his opponent. He noticed a power level that was way stronger than he expected. He turned in the direction of the energy and saw a woman with teal skin and orange hair.

"You must be my opponent, right?" The woman said nothing. "My name is Son Gohan." Still no response.

Much faster than he anticipated, she appeared right beside him and launched a kick which would have caught him off guard if it hadn't been for all the training he had been doing with Piccolo. His battle senses were sharper than ever, and he grabbed the alien's leg and spun her around, finally throwing her across the cavern into a wall. "I guess we'll forego the introductions, but you know that wasn't very nice" Gohan said, furrowing his brow and folding his arms.

The alien flew at Gohan again, thinking that the kid got in a lucky shot, but she was mistaken. She tried for a punch to the face, which he countered with a side block. Then she went for a knee to the gut, and he spun out of the way to deliver a devastating blow to her side. This time, she fell to the ground on all fours. Gohan stayed on his guard but was a little concerned.

'Maybe I should have held back a little'

Just as he was feeling guilty for hitting a girl so hard, and thinking what his mom would say, an energy blast came right at him. The blast was too close for him to dodge so he put up his cross guard and when the blast impacted it blew him back several feet. The alien girl appeared at his side and unleashed a barrage of punches and kicks that Gohan could barely keep up with. Deciding that he didn't need to go easy on her at all, he caught her wrists mid strike, pulled her in, and headbutted her. She went reeling and he took the opportunity to go on the offensive. His swift and accurate strikes found every mark and once again sent the girl flying.

Gohan was still under the impression that this was part of the tournament, so he didn't want to hurt her too badly. "Hey, are you ok? It's alright if you want to stop. You don't need to push yourself."

The girl looked up at him in shock. It was clear from her look that she was confused about one warrior showing concern for another mid battle. Her stare made Gohan feel like he needed to explain himself. "I mean, it is just a tournament. There's no point in getting killed here, right?"

Gohan finished a bit sheepishly. This comment seemed to do the opposite of what Gohan intended. Instead of calming her down it seemed to enrage her.

"WHAT DO YOU KNOW!?" She screamed with rage. Then she stood up and calmed herself with a breath. "Hmf, I'm surprised I have to use this form on a planet like this, but with you as my opponent, I guess I have no choice." Gohan then felt a sudden spike in her power. Her hair turned red and was standing on end. Her skin changed color too, becoming a greenish yellow in the light of the lava.

"Huh, pretty impressive trick you've got there." Gohan said with sincerity, and a bit of excitement. "Too bad for you I've got one of my own. HAAAAAHHHH!"

Just like she had done, Gohan transformed, his power literally going through the roof causing the cavern to shake and lava to float. When he was done, he had golden hair and teal eyes. "Well? My skin may not have changed like yours, but what do you think of my transformation?"

The alien was clearly perturbed for a minute, then she laughed haughtily. "Ha! Do you really think a cheap hair dye is going to be enough to beat me in my full power state?"

"Well, you just changed your hair and skin tone." Gohan replied with that tone teenagers pull off so easily without meaning to.

"Shut up!" The girl's cheeks reddened with indignation. "This is an ancient technique of my race! Only the most powerful warriors can even hope to achieve it. It has no equal!" She stated proudly.

"I guess you've never heard of a super Saiyan then." Replied Gohan with a bit of a smirk.

"A super Saiyan?! That's impossible! The last super Saiyan died over a thousand years ago."

"Then I guess we're overdue." Gohan stated with a good natured smile.

"We'll see about that! HRAAH!"

She lunged at Gohan once again but, unlike before when they were at least close in power, it was clear straight away that she was outmatched. No matter what she did she couldn't hit him. He casually dodged and side stepped every attack. As she got more frustrated her swings were digressing into haymakers. Gohan took advantage of the wide opening and gave an uppercut right to the chin, knocking her to the ground. She tried to stand up but fell right back down.

"I guess that means I won huh?" Asked Gohan rhetorically. The super Saiyan started towards her to shake her hand and help her up. Out of nowhere, a power ball shot straight at the girl.

"Lookout!" Shouted Gohan as he rushed to push former opponent out of harm's way. He succeeded but at a price. He didn't have time to dodge the attack himself, and took the blast right on his arm.

"Man! Why is it always the arm?" Gohan grumbled as he set the stunned girl down and turned to face the new combatant. It was a big man with a bandana and the same color scheme as the girl. His face wore a malicious grin. Gohan's instinct told him this guy was bad news.

"Hey what's the big idea? You could have killed her with that!?" He yelled at the man with righteous indignation.

"That's doubtful." Replied the new alien with a sadistic grin. "It's more likely that it would have crippled her for a month. Though killing might have been a better punishment for her pathetic performance. After all, failure can hardly be tolerated, especially against an earth brat. Really Zangya how pathetic."

"Please Bojack! I'm sorry" She begged as she desperately scrambled to her feet. "I can finish it I just-"

Before she could finish, Bojack cut her off by firing another ki blast at his ex-lieutenant. Zangya braced for impact, but Gohan couldn't stand by and watch this man murder another living being. He once again jumped to save Zangya, this time knocking the blast away.

"I don't care who you are! Nobody comes to my planet and starts hurting people. If you want a fight, I'm right here you big bully."

Bojack smirked. "Well, I guess that means we aren't welcomed are we Bido?" Another alien, slighty smaller than Bojack appeared next to him. "Well boss, if I had known that children don't approve of our activities, I may not have killed that fat fighter earlier. He Kept yelling 'dosukoi' for some reason. Is that the earth way to beg for mercy?" He laughed and Bojack joined in. This only served to infuriate Gohan further.

"-re you." He said quietly.

"What was that brat?" Bojack stopped laughing long enough to sneer at the child.

"HOW DARE YOOOOUUUUU!" Gohan screamed and unleashed even more power than before.

"I'll show you what happens when you mess with earth!" Gohan yelled as he lunged at the two invaders.
