I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the OC known as Danielle Hopkins. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.

Chapter Thirty-Five

The annual Gland Prix is around the corner in a few days. Danielle was still regressed to a three year old, worrying everyone in the Owl House when she'd get back to normal. Luz and King were in training for the annual prix, flying around on Eda's staff.

"The girls need a new coat. King needs to be checked for fleas. Am I missing anything?" asked Eda, staring at her reflection and undoing a braid that Danielle had done, before looking outside fondly. "It's worth it."

"And three, and four, and five, and six, and seven, and eight, and nine, and ten!" said Luz, doing upside down pullups which Danielle clapped to.

"And weh, and weh, and weh, and weh, and weh, and weh, and weh, and weh!" said King, doing the same routine.

"Alright, King," said Luz, sitting up. "What's the first thing you're going to do when you meet your dad?"

"And ten thousand! Well, once we're done training, I'm gonna move out of that closet, that's for sure," replied King, looking at Luz. "Then, I'm going to ugly cry. Hard!"

"I think I'm gonna cry when mom and dad pick me up," said Danielle, looking at Luz and King. "I don't like this long trip away from them."

"… …" said Luz, before looking at King. "Have you told Eda about your decision to le…?"

"Shh!" said King, before hearing a window close. "I-I'm not ready yet. I'm not sure how she'll react."

"But isn't Ms. Clawthorne your mommy?" asked Danielle, looking at King.

"She will be when I show the adoption forms," replied King, looking at Danielle. "I… I want it to be a surprise."

"I can do confe… confe… mmm… ripped paper from the Right Glyph," said Danielle, looking at King. "I mean Light Glyph."

"Thanks, but no," said King, looking at Danielle.

"Music," said Danielle, hearing Eda play her cittern and heading inside. "Pretty music."

"Has my magic returned?" asked Eda, seeing items in her room floating.

"Cool," said Danielle, entering the room before seeing the items fall to the floor. "Huh?"

"Oh, guess not. Stupid curse," said Eda, placing her cittern in a chest before picking Danielle up. "Let's head downstairs."

"Can ya teach me?" asked Danielle, looking at Eda. "I wanna play guitar."

"Cittern," said Eda, correcting Danielle as they head downstairs. "And sure."

"Yes!" said Danielle, as Eda placed her on the couch in the living room.

"Here," said Eda, turning on the crystal ball. "News."

"Boring," said Danielle, leaning back against the couch as Eda researched.

"And we're back live at the emperor's castle!" said the Female Announcer, stating the news. "In light of Scooter Crane's retirement, today's ceremony will confirm Raine Whispers as the next head of the Bard Coven."

"Do I have to be on camera?" asked Raine, wearing a white cloak.

"For Titan's sake, just say something," said Darius, staring at Raine.

"Hubba hubba," said Danielle, staring at Darius, making Eda stifle a laugh.

"Uh, I am honored to work with Emperor Belos in preparation for the Day of Uni-bee," said Raine, pulling down his hood. "Uh, I mean, Uni-ly! I mean, uh—oh no, this is going all wrong. Get me outta here!"

"Again," said Danielle, staring at Raine. "Hubba hubba."

"Just cut the feed," said Darius, as the news cut off.

"How are you supposed to be Head Bard with stage fright?" said Eda, mockingly.

"King," said Danielle, running over and hugging King.

"Danielle, not too tight," said King, trying to get out of Danielle's hold before looking at Luz. "I'm sorry, Luz."

"It's okay, buddy. Hey Eda, got another backpack I can borrow?" asked Luz, holding a backpack away from herself. "This one got a little thrown-up in."

"Eeew," said Danielle, realizing what King meant and released him.

"Closet," replied Eda, pointing towards the nearby closet. "So why are you suddenly so interested in flying? Did you give up on returning to the human realm? I mean, I suppose you can stay here a little longer."

"I wanna go home," said Danielle, pouting and crossing her arms over her chest.

"Oh, no," said Luz, peering back in the living room with a new backpack in hand. "I'm still going home, but I keep running into some setbacks."

"Hooty ate the mousy," said Danielle, looking at Eda while pointing to Hooty.

"I was able to get the mouse back safely, but he needs to recover," said Luz, entering the living room.

"In the meantime, this weekend is the Gland Prix!" said King, excited.

"Hexside, Glandus, and St. Epiderm students race to win glory, honor, and…" said Luz, showing Eda the pamphlet.

"Fame! Winners also get an interview with the Boiling Isles news! Do you realize what this means?" asked King, staring at Eda.

"We are going to enter the competition and get King on camera to send a message to his dad!" said Luz, looking at Eda.

"Oh, that's... great," said Eda, unsure.

"But, uh... there's something I'd like to talk to you about first," said King, nervously. "You see, I think it's time for me to le…"

"Leave... the talkin' for later. If you want to win, there's no time for talk," said Eda, nervous as well. "You gotta go practice. Now."

"Wanna head back out while your tummy's empty?" asked Luz, looking at King.

"Okay!" replied King, looking at Luz.

"Let's go!" said Luz, running outside with King.

"Wait for me," said Danielle, running after Luz and King. "I wanna fly too."

It has been a few days now. Training was going great. Luz even promised Danielle she could ride with them during the race. The day finally arrives as Luz and King check out the competition.

"Eda! I'm so glad you made it!" said Luz, running over to Eda and hugging her.

"I, uh, would really like to tell you something before the race starts," said King, nervously.

"Well, if it's so important, we can talk about it after the race..." said Eda, bending down and smiling at King. "When you win, okay?"

"Uh, yeah, yeah," said King, slightly smiling. "Okay."

"Welcome, everyone, to the Gland Prix!" said Perry, emceeing the event. "Contestants will fly down the right arm to the Cubital Valley. They use speed, cunning, and magic, to race to the checkpoint and back to the finish line! Winners get their names etched on the Cup of Ephemeral Glory!"

"Creepy trophy," said Danielle, clinging to Luz's leg.

"And, an on-camera interview, seen by everyone watching across the Isles! On your marks, get set…" said Perry, seeing the contestants ready to fly as the trophy screams as the signal.

"Whooo!" said Danielle, as Luz took off. "Yes! I'm flying, I'm flying."

"Is that a little kid?" asked Ukla, spotting Danielle with Luz.

"I promised I'd take her," said Luz, staring ahead as she listened to Ukla.

"This is a race here. Anything flies," said Ukla, staring at Luz. "She's gonna get hurt. You want that on your conscious?"

"… …" said Luz, really thinking on what Ukla said. "I'll… uh… make sure she doesn't get hurt. I promise."

"Ninja time," said Danielle, seeing Luz make them go invisible. "Ninja, ninja."

"Haha! Saint Epiderm? More like Stank Epiderm!" said King, as Luz made them visible again after a bit. "Might wanna slow down for that turn, Luz. We're gonna crash!"

"Music? I hear music," said Danielle, looking around before spotting Eda down below. "There."

"Whoa!" said Luz, as she took a rough turn making Danielle lose her balance. "Danielle!"

"Danielle!" said King, watching Danielle fall to the forest below.

"This is what I was talking about," said Ukla, flying by.

"Ms. Clawthorne!" shouted Danielle, as she fell closer to Eda.

"What?" said Eda, looking up before grabbing Danielle. "Oh, my Titan…"

"That was scawy," said Danielle, clinging to Eda. "I lost me grip… my grip."

"Danielle!" shouted Luz and King, flying down before seeing Eda.

"Care to explain?" asked Eda, eyeing Luz and King.

"Rough turn…" said Luz, sheepishly chuckling. "She lost hold. I'm sorry Eda."

"So, these are her kids," thought Raine, staring at Luz, King and Danielle.

"Hubba hubba," said Danielle, staring at Raine before Eda covered her mouth. "Mmmm."

"Uh… kids right," said Eda, nervously chuckling as Danielle removed her hand from her mouth.

"He is your…" said Danielle, before holding her pinky finger up. "Boyfriend?"

"Kids say the darndest things," said Eda, nervously chuckling before looking at a laughing Luz and King. "You two still need to explain."

"Yes Eda," said Luz and King, sighing.

"Huh… wait… the race," said Danielle, looking at Luz and King.

"Your safety is more important," said Luz, before realization dawned on her. "Just like that night… oh, I am so sorry. I think I get what you mean now."

"Huh?" said Danielle, looking at Luz, confused.

"Well, isn't this quite a reunion," said Darius, walking out from behind some trees.

"Darius," said Eda, before some images flashed in her mind. "No way."

"I was wondering when you would remember," said Darius, looking at Eda. "I played along like I did the last time but I was able to change certain things around as well."

"Eda," said Luz, confused as she looked at Eda.

"They're on our side," said Eda, before taking some papers out of her hair. "I think this should help in your little rebellion."

"Hubba hubba," said Danielle, staring at Darius before Eda covered her mouth. "Mmmm."

"Cute," said Darius, as he grabbed the papers. "Draining spell!?"

"Puppy!" said Danielle, wiggling out of Eda's hold and running over to Eberwolf, hugging him. "Or kitty."

"Yeah, my memories…" said Raine, lightly holding their head. "Just caught up."

"So…" said Darius, looking at Raine.

"I'll go along with the capture…" said Raine, deeply sighing. "Again. Later Eda."

"Raine," said Eda, as Raine started walking with Darius and Eberwolf.

"So…" said Danielle, looking up as Eda picked her up. "We having dinner with your boyfriend?"

"… … …" said Raine, stumbling a bit before walking back over and placing a hand on Danielle's head. "Me and Eda are not… lovers anymore."

"But…" said Danielle, looking up at Raine. "You look cute together."

"Later Eda," said Raine, walking back towards Darius and Eberwolf.

"Mmmm," said Danielle, watching them walk away before looking up at Eda. "I though true love lasts furever… forever."

"I thought so once too kid," said Eda, rubbing the top of Danielle's head. "I thought so too."

"Race," said Danielle, looking towards Luz and King.

"I'll keep hold of Danielle this time," said Eda, eyeing Luz and King. "You two can finish the race. But you two will still explain later."

"Yes Eda," said Luz and King, before taking flight and reentering the race.

"Let's head towards the stand," said Eda, walking back towards the site of the Gland Prix.

Once back at the site of the Gland Prix, Eda stood near a tree while Danielle sat on the ground playing with some flowers. Luz and King were zooming closer to the finish line with Ukla right beside them.

"Luz of Hexside and Ukla of Glandus are barreling towards the finish line! And there you have it! Ukla over Luz!" said Perry, seeing Luz and Ukla finish the race. "For fifth place. And now, let's give a hearty applause to our actual winner!"

"You were flying like the dang wind to catch up," said Eda, looking at Luz. "What happened?"

"We were winning for a while, but…" said Luz, remembering King losing his stomach. "And then we crashed."

"King's tummy upset," said Danielle, before rubbing King's belly. "Does this help?"

"Yes," replied King, enjoying the pets before sighing. "It's okay. I'll just throw my message into the garbage where it belongs."

"No, this isn't over," said Eda, summoning her Penstagram and starting a recording.

"Eda, who's even gonna watch this?" asked King, as Eda got him in shot of the recording.

"No one watches crystal balls anymore," replied Eda, looking at King. "It's all about streaming."

"Hmmm," said Danielle, looking around, wondering where she was hearing silent voices. "Whose there?"

"All right. Hi, Dad. If you're out there watching this, I uh, want to introduce myself. I like cheesy foods and conquering kingdoms. Though I haven't conquered any of my own yet," said King, holding his paper as Eda recorded him. "But maybe you have, and we can compare notes. I'd love to meet you. We could do parent kid stuff, toss a ball, burn some cookies, catch me going on weird websites or something. Also, I found a symbol in the tower I hatched in."

"St… hi…"

"Danielle, you okay?" asked Luz, bending down to Danielle's level.

"Maybe you can teach me to read it. I live with my two favorite humans and a cranky old witch," said King, still being recorded. "

"Sto… him! Kin…wi… danger!"

"What?" said Danielle, teary eyed as she looked at King. "King."

"Danielle?" said Luz, wiping Danielle's tears away. "What's wrong?"

"But cranky or not, she's the one who raised me, which is why I am le..." said King, grabbing a stack of adoption papers. "...gally changing my name to King Clawthorne! Surprise, Eda! Now we're connected for life, and there's nothing you can do about it!"

"Is that what you wanted to tell me this whole time?" asked Eda, sniffly as she grabs the adoption papers.

"And, if you sign here, it be official," replied King, grabbing a pen.

"Guys, we have a problem," said Luz, picking up a crying Danielle.

"What's going on?" asked Eda, wiping her own tears away. "Danielle, what's wrong?"

"I… can't hear… them… well… but…" said Danielle, crying. "Voices say… King is… in danger."

"Eda, do any of your memories…" said Luz, looking at Eda.

"No, something's blocking the run with Danielle for this day," said Eda, holding her head. "But it's got to be something important if this regards King and his people."

"Anyway," said Luz, holding a crying Danielle. "We should get Danielle back to the Owl House. Clearly, whatever Danny and whoever else remains are saying are upsetting her."

"Yeah," said Eda, rubbing the top of Danielle's head. "Want some pizza tonight?"

"And fries?" said Danielle, sniffling as she stared at Eda.

"And fries," said Eda, before thinking. "Girl has a bad craving for those fries."

Owl Pellet #70

"Whaa-aah!" said Luz, before hitting the ceiling. "Oomph."

"Why is this happening?" asked King, gripping a pillow as he flew.

"Yeah, I can see where her cousin was coming from when calling Danielle a yokai," said Luz, staring at a sleeping Danielle. "Her magic is crazy when she sleeps."

Owl Pellet #71

"Okay, I got… this," said Eda, grabbing hold of a table and righting herself. "There we go. Ow."

"She'll wake up eventually," said Luz, reading a book while floating. "It's kinda like swimming."

"Speak for yourself," said Eda, before a Light Sphere blinded her. "Aah!"

Owl Pellet #72

"Danielle, what are you doing?" asked Luz, watching Danielle draw a glyph.

"Watch this," said Danielle, before activating a Light Glyph.

Various colored candies made from the Light Glyph spread throughout the Owl House. Danielle is giddy before grabbing one.

"Uh, Danielle. I don't think that's a good…" said Luz, seeing Danielle eat the Light Candy.

"… …" said Danielle, blanching before spitting the Light Candy out. "Yucky."

"Thought as much," said Luz, before seeing Hooty belching Light Candy in the living room.

"Eew," said Danielle, staring at Hooty. "Mister Owl."
