Honestly fair enough. If you want Grapploct that much, I would be down to find a way to get one. I love Godzilla, so your username is more than enough of a reason for me to find a way. Though it would definitely be later on in the story, it could happen for sure. I have to say though, while Ghidorah is THE Godzilla villain, Destoroyah is the PERFECT Godzilla villain IMO. Created by what killed Godzilla, though it ultimately failed in the end, just like everything and everyone that tried to take down the King of the Monsters. As for the fic though, Shawn will have a, lets say interesting, interaction with Ash the first time they meet. Thanks for the reviews!

Shawn is human. That's it. He will have flaws, and this is one of them. He grew up playing these games and watching the shows, so to change it all is a foreign thought, even if it would be for the better. A more logical reason for it though, is a fear of lack of control. Once one thing is changed, so could everything else. What if Shawn catches Snivy, and Ash isn't able to use Snivy for a certain situation needed in the Anime? What if everything goes wrong for Ash because Shawn caught Snivy? Having the Anime and the knowledge gives Shawn power, so to do something to change it so drastically would be like giving away his power. It's not only "amateur" who are concerned with canon, it's normal people. Not everyone is a Jord-type character like you seem to want. Read Borne of Caution, and see how the author writes his situation about breaking canon. The MC has issues with it, but eventually learns to get over it after internal and external conflict. I don't remember the exact details, since it's been awhile since I read the fic, but you get the point. It is a character flaw, but that's what makes a character interesting. I don't want to write a complete Gary Stu character, and if that makes me wrong, then whatever, I'll be wrong. Also, please stop taking the word domination so seriously, it is not that serious. It's just a fanfic, and I would rather make a decent character that's enjoyable because he overcomes flaws rather than a character with no flaws who is boring and predictable. If you want a fic of a Gary Stu who does whatever, then write one yourself, don't knock mine down just because it isn't what you want. Regardless of our disagreements, thanks for the reviews.

Yeah, Ash's lack of usage of her is one of the main reasons I decided to turn her into a plot point, cause Ash really misused her and some of his other Pokemon. Reshiram will come into play later, but when I say later I mean it will likely happen with the Team Plasma plot after the league, so a good long way from now. I also don't blame you for picking Lucario, it is overused, but it's overused for a reason. Thanks for the review!

Pretty damn good recommendations, all great Pokemon in their own right. Gliscor is more likely to happen because of the sand team that will happen, and Metagross is one of my personal favorites, so it could happen later on as well. Electivire would be pretty cool and I've already had someone recommend it, so it could make an appearance as well. Thanks for the review!

Its no problem bro, any advice is welcome! Klefki would be crazy, since it has Prankster, and Alolan Sandslash is cool, but honestly the Steel typing on that thing is only there for show IMO. So much more of an Ice type than Steel, they just put it there for show. A Steel Eeveelution would be cool, but sadly since one doesn't exist, I would rather not do that. I personally don't like not having a visual of a Pokemon, and I would rather not take someone else's art for a fanfic. It is a cool idea though, and if we get a Steel type Eeveelution in Legends A-Z, I will 100% put it in this story (or whatever story I would be writing, since I'm not sure on the future of this one at all). No problem for the response, I try to respond to everyone, and no problem for the story either, I enjoy writing, even though it is a pain sometimes. Thanks for the advice, and the reviews!

Bisharp is badass, but yeah GF fumbled putting it at the end of the game like that, and making it such a late evo. Electivire is definitely on the backup list btw, I have had multiple people tell me to use it, so it will likely make an appearance. Snivy was sassy and prideful, but never arrogant, and it was always controlled. It never turned into some disobedient Pokemon or anything, it just had more of a personality than some of the other Pokemon Ash had. As for Ash's Oshawott, you will see when Ash makes his appearance. Standby for battle is goated, despite Paul using it. Glad you caught that, since no one else mentioned it. As for what Shawn will do concerning Ash, it will be something along those lines, but probably not in that way. (Hint: 99% chance it will be in the form of a good ole' fashioned beat down). Ferrothorn is definitely underused, so it would be a good Pokemon to use and make the fic and Shawn more unique. It also would 100% be better than Snivy if Snivy does not evolve, Ferrothorn has too much and Snivy has too little to offer. You also got that right, Samurott will be the blade, so Bisharp would be just another Samurott type Pokemon, despite how badass it is. Thanks for the review!

That's it for the reviews! I hope I answered everyone's questions and clarified on Shawn and canon, so without further ado, let the short chapter begin.
Nacrene City was about what Shawn was expecting. A much larger city, with a lot more entertainment, food, Pokemon, and basically everything. Bianca, however, was out of her mind at everything she saw.
"Oooo, I have to get in there! That restaurant looks so neat, and the outside seats make it even cooler! Shawn, do you see that store beside it with the Deerling on it? We have to check it out later!"
Even Oshawott, who was on his head, was exasperated at the hurried tone of the girl. Shawn thought she hadn't been in a big city before, but now he was 100% sure.
He rolled his eyes, "Sure Bianca, we can come back to everything after we take care of business first. Work hard, then play hard, alright?"
She half ignored his answer and just replied happily, "Sure! As long as we see everything!"
Shawn could do nothing more than nod and just enjoy the sights himself. Even though Bianca was exaggerating the city, it was still damn pretty. All the big buildings, Pokemon signs, the actual Pokemon, it was more interesting than any city he had ever been in.
Traveling wasn't his thing, and when he did, it wasn't very far from his hometown. Growing up as a homebody in a small town kept him from experiencing much of anything else, which he was honestly fine with. Either way, compared to big cities in the Pokemon world, big cities back on Earth were chump change. He had seen the giants malls and stadiums a couple times, and while they were neat, Pokemon blew everything he saw out of the water.
Once the two finally arrived at the Pokemon Center after a decent walk and got their Pokemon checked out, it was time to go shopping.
'Alright, the checklist is berries, any interesting canned goods, Pokemon items, and overall anything interesting.'
Shawn walked back into the market alone with goals in mind, which got checked off one by one. He found his berries first, fresh from a vendor he found selling them for a bit cheaper than retail. He would never miss out on a good deal if he could without trouble, that was for sure.
While thinking about how the man could sell for lower than retail though, his thoughts wandered to the currency they used - Poke.
See, Poke is a universal currency in every region, even places like Unova that are isolated use Poke, which makes sense, though it was never stated in the Anime. Something else never stated in the Anime was how Poke was earned.
From what Shawn had gathered, kids who went out on Pokemon journeys were usually financially supported by their family, and had the chance to earn money from battles if the two participants agreed to it. The main ways to make money as a trainer are to either win a Gym battle, sell items, or win tournaments. Family financial support allows new trainers to journey for a while and see if they are any good at it, while the Gym battles and tourneys allow good trainers to continue training and become stronger.
It wasn't very complicated in hindsight, but because the Anime very rarely says anything about how money works, you wouldn't have a clue about the economics of Pokemon Training without research.
Shaking his head, Shawn focused on the other things he wanted to investigate, and got moving.
Nothing. That's what Shawn found about held items.
It seems the only items any Pokemon held were to Mega Evolve, which hadn't even been discovered yet. Another thing to take advantage of when he had the proper set up and knew what items he wanted.
He also didn't find any canned berries, and nothing piqued his interest while looking at all the stores in Nacrene.
It was 6 when he returned to the Pokemon Center to eat and plan out the strategy for the Nacrene Gym. While one might think about training more for Lenora, Shawn could tell something was going on with Oshawott. The Pokemon seemed even more proud somehow, and was weighing a bit more than normal on his shoulders, which led him to believe his Pokemon would soon evolve.
In fact, a quick look at the Arc DS confirmed his suspicion.

While the Games and Anime weren't completely the same, it seems the levels for evolution would hold about the same, which gave him a good timeline of when Drilbur would evolve into the monstrous Excadrill, and when Oshawott would evolve into Samurott.
The thought of Oshawott evolving sparked a thought in his head though.
'If my Oshawott is already about to evolve, even though we did train much harder than Ash ever did, the experience from defeating the foes he did would've evolved Oshawott right? Snivy too, right? Why did so many of Ash's starters never evolve even after the journey ended? Did he just never give them the push they needed, like with Chimchar and Paul?'
It was a strange thing, but maybe there was an actual explanation for it, and one day he could get a straight answer instead of just pondering in his head about it.
Regardless of that, Shawns plan to beat Lenora was simple; evolve Oshawott, then wreck the Gym without trouble. He would let Bianca go first tomorrow, then challenge Lenora the next day after evolving Oshawott. Send in Drilbur first, and let him get Roared out by Lillipup, then have Dewott Mean Looked by Watchog. Watchog would seal its own fate if Lenora stuck to her guns against him, and she had no reason not to. It's not like he had a crazy record on his trainer profile or competed in past leagues, and even if he did, how would Lenora know unless she specifically searched for him?
We did learn in Sinnoh trainers do have profiles, as shown by Tobias and his mysterious profile with his only Pokemon as Darkrai. Maybe his lack of battles may seem strange, but nothing crazy in the grand scheme of things. He just trained a lot with his Pokemon, and that was that. Being strong was that easy.
When he walked back into the Center, Shawn immediately went to the buffet and got himself a large plate of rice and stew. He had no clue how they made it in this world, but he wasn't complaining.
Oshawott and Drilbur got the good Pokemon food as well, not the regular food that most trainers feed their Pokemon. Shawn had made sure they were used to decent food though, since he always cooked for both him and Bianca but also the Pokemon as well. Pokemon didn't have to eat Pokemon food, it was just the cheapest available option on the market, since most trainers wouldn't pay the price for premium food.
What they all didn't know though, was the power of berries. Shawn found, from testing with his dishes, Leppa Berries and their stamina/PP restoring properties works with humans as well. Having lunch with Leppa Berries as well as Oran Berries always let them go for longer walking periods than just having lunch with Oran Berries alone.
The margin was quite large too, up to 45 extra minutes of trekking, honestly kind of crazy when thinking about it more. The Leppa Berries also helped him with working out, since he could go for longer, and the Oran/Sitrus Berries helped his muscles repair quickly so he could continue to get gains.
The Center food had none of this as far as he knew, but it was still a breath of fresh air from the monotony of traveling and having close to the same thing everyday, despite the fact that it tasted damn good.
The Center also had the comfiest beds he had ever slept in, so it was fairly easy to fall asleep after a good meal and a shower.
The next day had a lot in store for him; observing Lenora, evolving Oshawott, and anything that comes up in between. Shawn fell asleep, with dreams of Pokemon and evolution on his mind.
End!
This chapter was shorter, but the next chapter will cover everything from Bianca's Gym battle to Shawns, so expect a much longer chapter next time.
