Soon enough, when they were confident that the Pokémon weren't chasing after them anymore, Xerneas and Giratina slowed to a walk.
"Come on, don't you want to know what this might be?" Xerneas asked him for what seemed like the third time in a row. She motioned to the crystal she had with her again. While it looked nice, Giratina couldn't really see any more significance to it other than it being just a pretty stone.
"You know, I didn't rescue you just so you could tell me about some pretty rock you just found." He said to her. "I rescued you because you're my friend, and I didn't want to have you stuck in that fort alone."
"I know." Xerneas said to him. "But the thing is, this was found and taken from Alola from the Pokémon you saw in the fort! I don't know why they left it with me, but my guess is that it might be some ancient treasure from Alola! Gira, I know you have interest in other legends, surely you might be a little interested in this."
Giratina looked at the crystal again. "It looks like it's just some normal crystal to me." He said to her.
"Ha, wait until something happens and this turns out to be important." Xerneas said to him, not minding about the fact that Giratina didn't really care about the crystal.
Giratina stopped and looked around. "Well we can't stop moving right now." He said to Xerneas. "Those Pokémon are probably still searching for us, and if we stay here, they'll be able to find us in no time. So we shouldn't stop moving until we're out of the forest." Xerneas nodded, walking faster to catch up with Giratina.
Not even a moment passed before suddenly, the ground started shaking, causing Xerneas and Giratina to stagger back in surprise. Soon enough, they found themselves surrounded by uncountable Beartic, Cryogonal, and Golurk around the forest. And if that wasn't enough, a giant Hydreigon came crashing in from the forest, way bigger than any Hydreigon Giratina had ever seen before. He also noticed that there seemed to be a Glaceon on top of one of the Hydreigons three heads. Looking down on them with a smile on her face.
"Hey, Gira?" He heard Xerneas say to him. "You know how a few moments ago you said that those Pokémon might catch up with us if we don't hurry out of the forest? Well about that-"
"I know. I know…" Giratina said in a rush.
"Well, I figured I'd find you here." The Glaceon called out to them. "Frankly I'm impressed you were able to escape pretty quickly. I probably should've expected that from the Lord of the Distortion World and the Deity of Life. Well, I'm Commander Crystal of the base you had escaped out of, and I believe you might have taken something from there."
Giratina was confused for a moment before he realized that Crystal was probably talking about the prism-crystal that Xerneas had.
"You mean this?" Xerneas said, holding it up. "I just found it buried in the base with me. Why do you care about it now?"
Crystal started to look serious. "Look, as cool as you two are," She said to them. "I'm not scared about the fact that you two are just some giant fancy Volbeat and Sawsbuck with superpowers, but we lost that prism in our base for a short while now, and we found out it's a very valuable item that holds the secret of the Pokémon of the Blackhole! So you could either give it back to us and we'll let you two go, or we can fight you for it."
Giratina didn't like the sound of "Pokémon of the Blackhole" immediately. He turned to look at the prism and realized he felt annoyed at the fact that Xerneas was probably right about how this crystal might be important.
But if it has to deal with whatever this Blackhole Pokémon is, He thought. Then it's best to keep it away from them. For we don't know what they could do if they set this Pokémon free.
He turned to Xerneas and could already tell that she had been thinking the same thing. They couldn't let these Pokémon have it. Too many bad things could possibly happen if it's in the wrong hands.
"Let me guess… you won't give it back?" Crystal suddenly called out. Looking a little disappointed at them.
"How can we trust that you'll actually take care of this?" Giratina asked Crystal. "We don't know what this Pokémon could do. If something happened and this Pokémon is set free, the fate of the world could be at stake. So no, we can't trust you with this."
Crystal was silent for a moment, but her expression didn't seem to change. "Well don't worry, there's another option you have." She said to them after a bit. "Although it will make things harder than just giving back to us in the first place."
Xerneas tensed, her antlers started to glow with multiple colors and she got into a battle position. Giratina got into one along with her. He knew that they were going to have to battle their way out of this one.
Well, then let's get this over with.
The Hydreigon let out a roar and charged over to them. Xerneas and Giratina dashed out of the way and Giratina quickly tried to fire Aura Sphere. It didn't seem to do much really. All it really did was just bounce off of the Hydreigon, which caused it to turn and glare at Giratina, who quickly tried to use Shadow Claw on it. He wasn't quick enough however, and was blasted back by Dragon Pulse.
Xerneas came in and shot Moonblast at the Hydreigon. It roared and shot back Flash Cannon at her. Xerneas was able to dodge it quickly and started to prepare another one, but was interrupted by another Flash Cannon by the Hydreigon. Giratina ran in front of her and shot Ominous Wind. The Hydreigon staggered back a little bit but it didn't seem to be damaged much. It came in and prepared to launch a Dark Pulse at them. Xerneas went in front of him and shielded Giratina with Protect as the Hydreigon blasted it.
"Our attacks are barely doing anything!" Giratina said to Xerneas. "There's something off about this Hydreigon! Something is making it too strong!"
"Do you think it's that?" Xerneas asked, pointing to the Hydreigon's neck. There, strapped around in a leather band, were three small rocks. All of them shaped into something like stars, and all of them glowing a faint red light.
"Are those… Wishing Stars?" Giratina exclaimed. He only ever saw one once, but he had heard that Wishing Stars are able to grant wishes, and they also are connected to Dynamax Energy in Galar.
"Do you think that the Wishing Stars are making the Hydreigon stronger?" Xerneas asked.
"I guess so… Maybe if we can get rid of them, then we might have a chance to beat this thing."
The Hydreigon roared again and started to prepare a Dragon Pulse at them. Giratina lunged at it and tried to take one of the Wishing Stars from it. It roared again and tried to throw him off of its neck, Giratina tried to cling onto its neck and reach for one of the stars, but was thrown off before he got the chance.
Xerneas followed him and shot Aurora Beam at it. Again, it didn't do much and the Hydreigon turned and tried to shoot Flash Cannon at her. Giratina lunged at it again and reached for one of the stars and grabbed it. He yanked it off and the Hydreigon roared, louder than the ones before and even seemed to shrink a little. Xerneas shot Aurora Beam again and the Hydreigon roared even louder.
Giratina charged at it again and shot Ancient Power at it so the Hydreigon wouldn't get back up, then tried to take another one of the Wishing Stars from it. The Ancient Power hit the Hydreigon, but it got up before Giratina could get to one of the stars. He felt himself tumble across the clearing before he could even see the Hydreigon knock him over again. He forced himself back up again in time to see Xerneas use another Ice Beam at the Hydreigon. It roared again but before it could do anything, Xerneas charged at it and knocked another one of the Wishing Stars off.
The Hydreigon roared again, clearly furious now. It charged at Xerneas before she had time to react. Giratina was already running though and shot Dragon Pulse at it. It collapsed and Xerneas shot Moonblast at it. The Hydreigon roared much louder than when it got hit by the Ice Beam and it charged up a Hyper Beam directly at Xerneas. Giratina immediately wasted no time and used Shadow Force. He soon found himself in front of one of the Hydreigon's heads and he bashed into it. He tried to ignore the ear piercing roar that the Hydreigon let out, and ripped the remaining Wishing Star off of the Hydreigon.
The Hydreigon roared again, it was smaller now, about the size of what a regular Hydreigon would be. It collapsed to the ground, but didn't get up instantly.
"Now's our chance!" Giratina cried out to Xerneas. "Now that the Hydreigon's down, we can get out of here before they try to take the crystal!"
Xerneas nodded and started to go after Giratina, who already started running as fast he could. Ignoring Crystal's cold glare as she watched them run out of sight.
