I do not own Fallout at all. As for the characters, they can die at any moment in this story. So don't be mad if a character you love dies. I recommend you read Fallout: South Carolina and Fallout: The Carolina Republic. This story is the Prequel story to them. This is how the Commonwealth Republic began. This is Nate's Story.

We joined the Commonwealth Republic's Main battle line against the Children of Atom and the Trappers. Armed with my Assault Rifle, I took out a Zealot who was about to toss a Nuka-grenade at the lines, but with my quick trigger, the grenade blew up on their own men. I smiled as I watch limbs fly off the bodies of those Cultists fuckers and Trapper bastards. The Group under my command opened fire as well, some with Pipe Rifles, combat Rifles, and two had Harpoon Guns that were modified to fire Barbed Harpoons.
"MEDIC!" is something I heard and though I wasn't one, I kept firing while walking over and saw that a Commonwealth Republic Soldier was hit in the shoulder by one of the Cultist's Radium Rifles. I told the medics that he'll need a Radaway as fast as possible. I then shouted to the Old man to send folks my way. I then got back to the defense line and fired more before we heard that the Children of Atom breached the National Park HQ. I took some of my squad and called to Longfellow, "WE NEED MORE PEOPLE HERE! THEY BREACHED THE LINE!"
Running to the National Park HQ, I saw both Trappers and Zealots of that cult and I opened fire on them with my squad, with the Commonwealth Republic forces we were able to push them out of the National Park HQ and we secured the line, but we began running out of Ammo when I got shot in the arm by a Zealot with a Radium Rifle, right as he was about to shoot again, he got hit himself and he fell to the ground. I looked behind me and saw a man holding a 10mm Pistol with the Commonwealth republic on his sleeves and Painted Blue Combat Armor.
"Who are you?" I asked him, and the man introduced himself as Captain Peter smith of the Commonwealth Republic Scouts. Soon other Scouts appeared at the line and opened fire with their combat Rifles. Captain Smith then offered me his hand and when I took it, he pulled me up and said, "We thank you for helping our brothers in arms. Reinforcements are on the way, along with members of the Medical Corps for any wounded here. Take your people back to your homes, we'll take it from here." I was glad that we got reinforcements.
"As much as I want to go home, we made a vow to help you out and we're gonna stay." I told him. Captain Smith chuckled and said, "Very well. We got some uniforms for those who are here. Go ahead and put them on." I nodded my head again and had my squad of volunteers put on the Commonwealth Republic military clothes.

"Mr. President, The Scouts have arrived at the island." Said the new Secretary of War; Victoria-lyn Rhodes. Nate nodded his head and thanked his new Secretary of War. That was when Preston walked in and said, "We're heading out now sir. The first should be there shortly." Nate nodded his head and thanked him for going. Preston nodded his head and Danse asked why he was summoned as his Division wasn't being sent.
"You Danse, you are going to the island too. But as a second in command for a new Battalion of Commonwealth Republic Soldiers with your superior being Former Gunner commander Wes and a Commonwealth Republic Captain who bought his position… as much as I don't like that we had no choice to take." Nate said to him. Danse was hesitant to let a Criminal and a spoiled brat give him commands, but the Gunner Commander at least had Military Experience so he nodded his head.
Outside, Cait was having her Vertibirds fueled as Admiral Zoa began to gather ships to transport supplies to the island. Preston Arrived and she greeted him. She asked if his Division was ready to go to the Island and he said to her, "They're on their way here from the Castle… we've come a long way since Nate came out of his Vault."
"Yeah… so much has changed, we got ourselves a Republic." Cait said as she fixed her Flight suit.
"We took out the gunners and Raiders." Preston added on before Cait mentioned that the Super Mutants were no longer an Issue as well. That was when Deacon walked up to them in his new Commonwealth Intelligence Agency Suit. Cait smirked and said, "Well lookie here. Seems like someone got himself a new Job, how's the suit fit Handsome?" Deacon smiled and hugged her before he said, "Fits well, seeing as I am now the director of the new Intelligence Gathering Agency, the C.I.A. Preston, some CIA Agents will be dropping with you."
"Got it Deacon. Thanks for the heads up." Preston was when Preston's Division arrived with three Agents in special Armor under Trapper Garments and armed with combat Rifles modified with a long barrel, a marksman's stock, a large magazine, a scope, and a suppressor on each rifle. Deacon introduced the two as Leo and Butch. He then told Preston that they would be dropped out near Far Harbor and the two would sneak around and infiltrate the Cultists.
"Is that a good idea? The Trappers may suspect something." Preston pointed out. Deacon nodded his head and said that they were former Trappers that disagreed with what the leaders were doing and left. He then said, "They'll send us locations of buildup and other tactics the Trappers and Children of Atom are employing." He then looked at Leo and Butch before telling them that Preston was a good man and that they were to follow his commands if their cover got blown.
"Yes sir, Director Deacon." Leo and Butch said as the Vertibirds got loaded up with the first wave of the First CRID. Preston had his Laser Musket on his back as he, Leo, and Butch all got into Cait's Vertibird and they took off, leading the Vertibirds to the Island to help the local forces and First Scouts.
Back on the Island, High Zealot Confessor Richter realized that the Attempt to stall the Commonwealth Republic from sending backup as he was getting reports from the attacking units. He knew he needed help so he called up an old friend of his. Getting on the Radio, he patched into a radio channel and said, "This is Lieutenant Brian Richter contacting Enclave command, come in command." He waited for a response when a voice came back
"Lieutenant Richter? We thought you were dead." Said the voice. Richter recognized it as his old squadmate from before he got promoted. Richter told his old squadmate that he was willing to give up a Nuclear Warhead in exchange for their help on taking the island. The man on the other end told Richter that he would talk to the higher ups. At the Enclave Board, the leaders of the "Government", Military, and Science divisions met up in a conference room where a Lieutenant in the Enclave, Lieutenant Jefferson, stood at attention and insisted they take the deal.
"This Lieutenant Richter… wasn't he reported to be dead in the Capital Wasteland?" Asked a Government representative. A general of the Enclave Military said that it was in a Mission that went sideways that they all thought Richter was killed, but apparently that was not the case. He then said, "If Lieutenant Richter is alive and reporting about having access to a Nuclear warhead, we need to confirm it."
"Indeed, but that means if we want the warhead, which I assume we do, we need to hear him out." Said the head Enclave Remnant Scientist. Arguments went back and forth but eventually it had been decided to send a small team to the Nucleus to see if the Warhead was legit or not. So at night on the island, a boat carrying a Enclave Officer, a Soldier in X-02 Power Armor, and a Enclave Scientist docked at the Trapper's main base and were escorted to the Nucleus.
Upon Arriving there, Richter was quick to show them the Warheads and after some time, the Enclave Scientist confirmed it and the Enclave Officer got back to Enclave command and filled them in to which the Enclave Council voted to send their hired Gunner Mercs to the Island.
Back at the front lines, Preston's Infantry Division arrived at Far Harbor and walked through the town as the Medical Corps began checking on the citizens and treating those who needed it, even the Mariner was given treatment for what was ailing her. Preston met up with the commander of the Garrison forces along with Governor Chamberlin to discuss a new defense plan against the Trappers and Children of Atom.
Meanwhile, the Two C.I.A. Agents were dropped off on a island near the main island and they rowed to the Island in their trapper disguises and landed at Southwest Harbor and hid the rowboat in some brush before heading into the MS Azalea to gather intelligence. The leader of the Trappers in the MS Azalea, Bilge, was wearing Raider Power Armor as he talked to a member of the Children of Atom.
"The invaders have gotten reinforcements. We need more of your men pressing the attack from the south of their forces." Said the Children of Atom Zealot. Bilge crossed his arms and said, "You think I don't know that? We're already putting more men into your leader's War." The Cultist scoffed and said, "Anyway, we got word that our leader has contacted outside help to help take the island. His former group is sending mercs to assist us." The Two CIA Agents looked at each other before they snuck out and into a Patrol to break off and meet up with Allied soldiers.
At Acadia, DiMA sat in his seat as Faraday and Chase walked up to him. He stood up and said, "Thank you two for coming. This conflict the Children of Atom and the Trappers started against the Commonwealth Republic is growing increasingly out of their control, I fear they may try to attack us for what we did for the Far Harbormen."
"I agree, what are we to do though?" Chase asked DiMA. DiMA told him and Faraday that they must leave Acadia and seek refuge with the Commonwealth Republic. Faraday asked if that was wise due to the Commonwealth Republic having the Institute as part of it.
"Your fear is justified, but I have made contact with the territorial Governor, he has informed me that a Representative who knows the President will be coming with an Escort and we will negotiate with them." DiMA told the two. Faraday and Chase looked at each other before Chase said, "If it's alright with you DiMA… I would like to stay and help the Republic fight."
Faraday asked Chase if she was crazy, but Chase said that the Commonwealth was fighting for Synth rights and papers showed Synths working with humans to take down Raiders and gunners back in the commonwealth. She then said, "If the Commonwealth Republic won't let me then I will join up with you all."
That was when there was a knock at the front door, it was the Representative and their escort. When members of Acadia opened the doors, the Representative, Nick Valentine, walked in with a Synth Commonwealth Republic Soldier escorting him. Nick was escorted to DiMA and the two exchanged greetings. Nick told DiMA that Nate had been worried about Acadia during the intervention.
"When you sent out the call for help, he sent me here to talk about what to do about your people." Nick told the old Synth like him. DiMA nodded his head and told Nick about the proposal he was talking to Chase and Faraday about and added that Chase wanted to fight alongside the Commonwealth Republic. Nick asked her if she was certain, and the female Synth nodded her head.
"Well if others want to join as well, I'm sure Governor Chamberlin wouldn't be opposed. After all, Far Harbor volunteers were seen on the front lines. We can surely use all those who can help." Nick told her. DiMA told them that he would gather the Synths that were there and ask who wished to help the Commonwealth Republic fight.
Few minutes later, he asked the Synths there and Chase said that she was going to fight along if she had to, they had no point in throwing away if they didn't want to. The First to step forward was Naveen and he said, "Chase helped me get here to safety… maybe Synths will be welcomed… maybe we won't be. But if we have a chance, then I say go for it. Chase, you have my support." Then Dejen stepped forward and said he wanted to help as well. Then Aster stepped forward and said that there would be a need for a medic so she volunteered as well. Soon others volunteered and then it stopped. Nick nodded his head and looked to the escort.
"Get on the horn to command, tell them that Synths from Acadia volunteered to fight." Nick said to him. The Escort nodded his head and asked to use their Radio. Dejen led him to the Radio.
At the Defense lines of the Commonwealth Republic, Captain Smith has had some of his scouts out to gather intel on what life was like behind Cultist and Trapper lines. Those Scouts saw that many of the Settlers were forced to provide food for the Children of Atom's ongoing attacks. Some Scouts even reported that Gunners were beginning to show up. Preston was informed and put his hand on his chin, stating that they had to have been Gunners outside of the commonwealth or those who got away.
That was when Danse, Former Gunner commander Wes, and Captain Maurice Codman of the Codman family, Cousin to Robert Codman, arrived with the Commonwealth Republic 1st Prisoner Battalion. Danse, Wes, and Codman all approached the Territorial Governor and Codman started talking about how he was going to win the Island for the Commonwealth Republic.
"That's great to hear!" Shouted Chamberlin. Danse and Wes looked at each other, worried about what the plan was. Afterwards, Maurice told Wes and Danse his plan, and that was to take the MS Azalea. Danse pointed out that the ship was deep in Trapper Territory. Maurice said, "I know that Mr. Danse, and it's also one of their main bases, we take that, we got the south." Wes pointed out that taking just one place doesn't mean that they had secured the south.
"Did I ask for advice from you, convict?" Maurice rudely spat out. Wes clenched his fist as Danse pointed out that the ship was one of the most heavily defended spots the Trappers have under control. He then pointed out the Gunner Mercenaries that got away would most likely be embedded and they could have Artillery on their side and they didn't have any yet.
"That won't matter, we take the Azalea, we deal a major blow to their war effort." Maurice said before saying that the conversation was over. Wes glared at Codman as Danse told him, "Easy soldier, I know you don't like this, but we have to listen to his commands as he's the commanding officer. Once it's shown that he's incompetent, he'll be booted."
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxWes's P.O.V.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"I hope so, Danse. I took this posting thinking he would listen to my advice." I told Captain Danse before I looked back to the man who used family connections to get his rank. We then told the men, most of them were gunners who were with me in Gunner Plaza. The rest were from across the Commonwealth Republic's two wars, the War against us Gunners, and the war against the Raiders.
"Um sir… isn't the Azalea deep in enemy territory? We could be ambushed." asked one of the former Gunners that served under me. Maurice looked at the man and pointed out that they were there to follow his orders and so they could get their sentences reduced, Pointing out that they. We knew that, but he's making it sound like he would willingly throw us to the radwolves if it came to it. He then pulled out a sword and motioned us to move out. We followed his orders, regretfully. Soon we came under attack from Trappers in the woods. That Codman kept us marching thinking we could push them out. That goddamn idiot! We were just able to get to the Beaver Creek Lanes Bowling Alley when we got pinned down. That Codman took a round to the shoulder and he began crying like a Crybaby. I looked at Danse for orders but he just reminded me I was in command. I then ordered the remaining men to get back to the Bowling alley so we could hold up there while I ordered to men to help Captain Coward Codman inside it and we settled in while I had the Radio Operator call into command to inform them of the Fuck up and that we were surrounded.
"Let me go! I can walk!" Shouted the Codman. He then ordered us back on mission. I looked at him and said bluntly.
"They have us surrounded, we are outmatched. We need reinforcements." is what I told him. He came back with, "Watch that tone of yours Convict! May I remind you who is in command here?! I am! My orders stand! We March to the MS Azalea!" Then Danse said, "That mission has failed, we need a new plan. My best guess is…"
"I SAID WE MARCH TO THAT SHIP! THOSE ARE MY ORDERS!" Shouted the Captain. He was trying to win himself a Medal, so I straight up told him, "Go get yourself a medal, but these men know that mission is suicide! I will not march my men into a senseless Slaughter!" Codman pulled out his Pipe Revolver modified with a .308 receiver, a Short ported barrel, a Comfort grip, a Glow reflex sight, and a Small bayonet. He aimed it at me and said that we were to follow his orders and since I was "Talking back" he wanted to execute me.
"That's Enough Codman!" Shouted Danse as he took his pistol away. He then said that with his actions, he would be reporting directly to the President. I remember when he came to visit me and my men in the prison.
I think it was after the blackest week they had. I was in my cell, Clad in an orange jumpsuit, when the prison guards called my name to follow him. I did as I didn't want to get my ass handed to me by the guards. They led me into a room and when I walked in, I saw the President of the Commonwealth Republic sitting at the table. He looked at me and smiled.
"Welcome Commander Wes, please sit down." He said to me, I raised an eyebrow before I took a seat across from him. That was when the guard stepped out and closed the door. I was still confused as to the guy's motives so I asked him a question.
"What do you want from me?" I asked him, to which he simply said, "I have a proposition for you and the other prisoners here. It's quite simple. We're at war with the Children of Atom, I feel that you want you and your men out of Prison. I know the Gunners and Children of Atom have bad blood between the two. So here's my proposition, we let you out of Jail, you serve in the Commonwealth Republic Army at Far Harbor to help deal with the Children of Atom.
I leaned in my chair before I said, "So you want me to lead my men into a war that your Republic is in… why should we do that?" That was when he slipped me a paper. I read it as he said, "This paper says that those who join will serve three years in the army. After that if they wish to join the Republic as Citizens they can. Those who don't will be escorted to the border of the Republic, given a few days' rations and a pipe rifle with enough rounds to make it to a settlement. Those who do get escorted are to never return or face more prison time"
"Are you serious… You want me and those who sign this… Agreement, to agree to serve in your army for three years and be given the choice of staying in the Commonwealth Republic or get kicked out and never come back? Is that what you are saying?" I asked him to confirm what I said, and he simply nodded his head. He told me that with the number of current Prisoners from both wars that his republic fought, the prison cells were getting too crowded, and he was right. The Prison was overcrowded, knowing that we could get out with this could help that issue and we can earn our freedom.
"I'll talk to my men, see if any of them are willing to take this deal." I told him. The guy smiled and thanked me. Afterwards I talked to the Gunners that they had in the prison and told them what he was offering, even some Raiders were listening to me talk. Sergeant Baker stood up and said, "They killed Tessa! Like Hell I'm gonna fight for them."
"Look I know none of us like them, but they're giving us a chance to get out of prison, all he's asking is for us to fight and once we serve our time, we can leave or stay in the Commonwealth." I reiterated to the men. After some quiet, with them looking between each other, many of them stood up from their seats and said they would join me. Even some Raiders were convinced.
Back in the Bowling Alley, I saw the Fool trying to bargain with Danse, he even threw caps at the guy. He's got balls.

Danse shot Codman a look that read that he was not amused with Codman's actions. That was when the Radioman got hold of Far Harbor and handed the Radio to Danse who was about to explain it when Codman took it.
"THE PRISONERS ARE REVOLTING AGAINST ME! DANSE IS A TRAITOR!" He shouted, but the voice that answered him said, "Well Captain, the 1st will be there to see if you're telling the truth." It was Preston, Danse smiled before taking the Radio from Maurice while two Soldiers aimed at him to keep him from attempting that again. Danse then explained to Preston what really happened.
"I figured as much. I'll let Nate know" Preston replied. Danse was then given command of the regiment and was ordered to bring them back. Danse informed everyone there that they would be moving out. And even ordered two men to guard Codman as they went back to Far Harbor before seeing that some men were missing.
"I tried to stop them sir… but they ran out the back gate, they switched sides." Said one soldier as he held his arm from a gunshot wound. Maurice growled and blamed Danse for what happened.
Back in Far Harbor, Preston saw another Regiment, the 4th Infantry Division, arrive with Macready walking up to him. The two shook hands and informed him about the 1st Prisoner Battalion's Situation.
"Got it we'll get them. ALRIGHT 4th! We're going on a rescue mission! Take down any who shoots at us!" Shouted MaCready. The men nodded their heads and readied to follow their commander into rescuing fellow Soldiers, the Far Harbor Intervention was heating up.
