Goodbye my Little Friend

"I SAID GO!"

After a depressed ruby blows up at little to get away from her so they "won't end up dead too" the little mouse follows her regardless without her knowledge. Soon…. They find her after her horrific beat down by Neo and her clones having the curious cat, who saved her from them, slashing his claws into her chest painfully to invade her body and posses her. The mouse bites it tail, stopping the process. The cat gets annoyed and flicked them away "After I devour her your next runt" he coldly says, enraging ruby, who finds the strength grabs crescent rose and pulls the trigger, smacking the blunt end at the cat and crashing him out of the mansion…..But the damage was done. Ruby drops her scythe, her arm and body going limp as she feels all her energy drain from all the torment and strain she has been put through. Blood slowly drawing from her wounds forming a small puddle beneath her. Little the tiny mouse can only look on in fright at their friends pale and weak constitution. They run up to her, slowly tapping their tiny paw to her cheek, seeing barely a reaction in those cloudy silver eyes. A pit formed in their stomach, not wanting to accept the truth before them and they run towards her limp blood soaked hand, gripping her fingers fighting and tugging to no avail.

"Ruby! Come on get up!" They scream in desperation, but Ruby only groans exhausted, barely responding to them.

"Ruby…." They whimper. This gets a reaction, a somber state from the huntress.

"P-Please get up" they beg quietly "I….I don't think I can Little." Ruby weakly says, her voice raspy beset by a slight cough, a trickle blood coming in the corner of her mouth as she feels her stomach and chest ache painfully. Little shakes their head in protest, desperate to avoid this.

"Yes you can… get up." (Little whimpers plead fully) Ruby couldn't ignore such a sad cry, she hated the thought of letting down another friend. The clones flashing through her eyes at that thought made her want to vomit, but she couldn't even find the strength for that as she pressed her hand to the ground, trying to lift her head, but it was just too heavy. Little whimpered as they heard the painful groan and saw Ruby barely get her head and chest of the ground and collapse on her stomach before them, her breathing raspy as she stared at him with a somber painful gaze Little then realized they couldn't ignore the inevitable before them. And so did Ruby. Seeing her friends tearful gaze, Ruby had a pit in her stomach. She knew she failed a friend again. It brought tears to her eyes as she remembered the ones she still had but left. The pain she felt being ignored by them while suffering? It was nothing compared to seeing her little mouse friends tears before them as she knew was putting the same helpless despair in them, the same dread she felt when Pyrrha and Lenny died before her when she could have saved them she thought. She couldn't stand to see them go through this much longer…then, she saw the tea cup.

"Hey little…" she whispered, her burning throat not letting her speak louder "Yes Ruby" they whimpered "I'm thirsty, Bring me a drink" she begged as she pointed to the cup. Little, not thinking about anything but helping their dying friend right now, instantly rushes over to bring the seemingly harmless cup to her, not noticing the rainbow swirl and leaf.

"Little….can you tell my friends and sister something for me? P-Pretty please." Ruby choked, fighting her tears. Tears rushed down littles cheeks as they heard this. As if sensing what was to come draw closer.

"W-What?"

"Tell them…I'm sorry I was such a failure. I wish I could have…*gasp* been someone they deserved" Ruby choked as she drew the cup near her lips shakily.

"I….i guess so. But why do I have to tell them your coming with me!?" They cried in defiance at such a suggestion Ruby could only offer a sad tragic smile full of pain the mouse could just feel, silencing it as it finally noticed something it forgot, The leaf!

Ruby saw their look, but didn't care. She couldn't take this anymore. She wanted to go, she wanted to end the burden she was putting on everyone, and on herself.

"I can't go with you little…I'll just screw up at that too. Just tell them, tell them please." She weakly said as she drew the glass to her mouth, gulping down the contents just as her team and Jaune arrived. As she dropped the bitter drink, her arm going limp as she collapsed her weak head on the floor, all she could do as she felt everything go dark beyond the rainbow light consuming her, her body losing the last of its spirit, was offer one last tragic smile at little who blocked the view of her family and friends shocked faces, patting her nose desperately to wake her up in defiance,

"Ruby?…Ruby!?" They whimpered then yelled before feeling the ground beneath them grow tender to their shock.

"Ruby?" Yang said shakily as she saw her dying sisters limp body and little soon drop down a hole that flashed a brilliant rainbow light before closing forever.

AUTHOR NOTES

Saw Land Before Time again and V9 again and just thought to do this after the tears. Little…Littlefoot. Both essentially watched their mother or mother-like figure get brutally injured, whether by Sharptooth or Neo, helpless to help them as they laid dying that night. The parallels made this too tempting to write. If you have any other scenes that could parallel you'd recommend, maybe a Weiss and Yang argument and tussle over something like Cera and Littlefoot did, leave a review and let me know, maybe i'll write a ch 2 where Little chooses to Ascend.
