The night was dark and heavy with the scent of destruction. Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, stood amidst the chaos, his gaze fixed on the raging Nine-Tails. His heart was steady, even as the weight of his decision pressed down on him. He was about to sacrifice himself to save the village, his family—everything he held dear.
Beside him, Kushina weakened further, their newborn son, Naruto, cradled gently in her arms. She smiled at him, full of love and sorrow. Minato knew he was running out of time.
With a final resolve, he performed the hand seals, summoning the Shinigami for the sealing ritual. His mind was sharp, his movements precise, yet in that moment, as the Shinigami's cold grip reached for his soul, something unexpected happened.
A fragment of his essence, his consciousness, felt as though it was being pulled—pulled toward something far away. A different world, another life.
(Jaune perspective)
Jaune Arc stood in the center of a burning village, his sword trembling in his hand. His breathing was heavy, his body battered. and Raven Branwen loomed before him, her sword drawn.
Raven Branwen:" Are you done so soon? And here I thought you would give me a challenge."
Jaune gritted his teeth, frustration boiling within him. His vision blurred from the blood dripping down his forehead, mixing with the smoke and ash around him. He could barely stand, yet Raven Branwen looked as if she hadn't even broken a sweat. Her blade gleamed in the dim light of the burning village, reflecting the cold, merciless intent in her eyes.
Raven Branwen smirked, taking a step forward. "You're nothing, boy. Nothing but a disappointment to your family and to yourself."
Her words cut deeper than her sword ever could. Jaune had heard the whispers, felt the weight of others' doubts, but he always believed he could prove them wrong. He had to. He wasn't a failure, not like everyone said. He would make it to Beacon, he would become a huntsman, he would make his family proud. Yet here he was, beaten down by someone who radiated power and experience he couldn't match.
Jaune's grip tightened on his sword, his knuckles turning white. "I'm not done yet," he muttered, though his voice was shaky. He tried to steady his breath, tried to summon courage that he didn't have.
In that fleeting moment, he felt a presence within his soul—someone powerful, someone truly strong, unlike himself.
Choosing to push that sensation to the back of his mind, he charged at Raven Branwen.
Raven Branwen, with one swing of her sword Jaune was sent flying back.
As Jaune hit the floor, he began slipping in and out of consciousness. As Raven Branwen drew closer, he knew his time was up.
in Jaune's mind no no no I can't lose.
as she lifted her sword to slash down Jaune closed his eyes for the last time.
(Minato's perspective)
Minato opened his eyes, not to see the afterlife, but to find himself in a burning village with a woman standing over him, about to cut him down.
Minato noticed he was holding a sword. Thinking quickly, he infused it with his chakra and threw it.
Raven Branwen: "Did you really think that would hit me? Do you think that little of me?"
Jaune:" no I didn't think that would hit but I know this will."
Raven looked confused, but as he spoke, he teleported in a flash of golden light and appeared behind her, where the sword was, forming a blue, spiraling energy.
Jaune: "Rasengan!!!!!"
hitting raven her aura broke almost immediately.
Raven getting up says how dare you with blood dripping from her back.
Minato is puzzled how she can still be standing after a direct Rasengan.
as he notices a stray red fire come off of one of her irises.
with him squinting his eyes and confusion
with her realizing she's made a mistake so she decides to open a portal and run
Although Minato's job wasn't done yet, he noticed the fire all around him and spotted a water tower nearby.
He threw his sword, which stuck to the water tower, and with a yellow flash, he was gone.
infusing his sword with chakra he managed to cut open the tower.
as water covered the village putting out all the flames The Villagers came out.
as the village elder walked up to Jaune.
The village elder: "is there any way we can repay you."
Minato: yes I actually need a type of weapon made for me, and a cloak.
as Minato described the type of weapon and outfit he needed to be made The village elder gave him an apartment to stay at.
as Minato went to his new room he placed down the equipment that he had for some reason being a sword, a shield and a chess piece.
looking at them and confusion before deciding to go to bed as it was night out right now.
as he closed his eyes and went into a deep sleep.
(Jaune's perspective)
the next morning.
Jaune slowly opened his eyes, took in his surroundings, then closed them again before quickly opening them and jumping out of bed.
Jaune: "where am I"
