Hey everyone, not much to say except let's get into the next chapter.
Also a reminder for those who read my other story. The poll is still open and if you haven't' cast your vote then please do so. If you happen to be one of the few who can't see or find the poll in my profile it's because your not in the proper setting. You need to switch your phones to Desktop mode and then it will be revealed in my profile. I had some who stated that issue so if you have the same problem then now you know the solution.
Last time on Total Drama Island, our campers began their newest challenge which consisted of a five-part event. Their first task was to reach their designated campgrounds in a race. Their second task was to build a functioning place to sleep in using provided materials. Ther third task was to gather food to provide for the entire team. The fourth and my favorite is seeing how they'll handle confrontations with a bear. Lastly, it's another race to make it back to the main campgrounds. So far, they've gone through three of the five challenges. Which team will come out on top and who's sending another teammate down the dock of shame? Find out today on Total… Drama… Island!
Multiple stage lights were being set up as several cameras emerged from every kind of hiding place imaginable. From a groundhog's burrow, an owl's nest, bushes, rooftops, rising from the ocean and more. A director's slate board was then shown up close, being held by someone who clapped it.
The camera view then began to quickly move from a distanced view of the camp to into the grounds. Passing by Chris who was sitting down drinking coffee, the cabins where the teams were staying and moving through the woods.
Dear mom and dad I'm doing fine
You guys are on my mind
The camera view went all the way up the cliff before appearing to jump off like in the challenge. Plummeting as the view quickly dived down the middle of the safe zone and was now showing underwater. Owen was shown floating down there right before he propelled away with a large fart that knocked out a fish that had been behind him. It floated up where Geoff and Bridgette were shown looking into each other's eyes lovingly while floating on a surfboard together. The two cringed as the smell of Owens fart reached their noses before an eagle flew down and grabbed the knocked-out fish as it soared to the sky. The fish soon fell as the bird seemed to lose its grip on it or perhaps the smell made it discard it in disgust.
You asked me what I wanted to be and I think the answer is plain to see
I wanna be famous!
The view changed to down below where DJ was seen in the woods smiling with a bunch of cute and cuddly animals comprised of two birds, two squirrels, a chipmunk, a skunk, a bunny, a turtle and a frog who all smiled back. Until the fish landed in front of DJ and it seemed to startle the animals. Suddenly they all had angry expressions and lunged at him as they all bite into several parts of his body while the birds pecked his head. The poor boy ran away panicking and seemingly screaming. Duncan was shown nearby laughing while running away from Courtney who looked livid as she held a big stick that she wanted to whack him with.
The Jamaican kept running through the forest as he approached Ben who had been lying down with his head against a tree root relaxing in the shade. Dawn was hanging upside down in a branch above him with her legs bent as they held her up. The two were peacefully stealing glances at the other while a couple of birds peacefully chirped beside them. The two noticed DJ running by and stared with alarmed looks as he kept going in terror.
I wanna live close to the sun
Well, pack your bags 'cause I've already won
The view ran past some trees to show Leshawna and Heather were fighting on a raft as they slapped each other's hands without looking at one another. Too late they realized their raft ended up going down a waterfall. Down below Harold was shown practicing his so-called mad skills while standing over a cracked log. Izzy soon came crashing into him while swinging on a vine. The two ended up slamming face first into an out house and knocking Lindsay out of it while her skirt was down, exposing her pink panties.
The view zoomed into the window of the mess hall where a buff looking Chef was stirring a pot. Preparing god knows what with his bare hands before smiling almost evilly at those behind him. A tied-up Noah and Ezekial were shown shaking in fear over the 'dish' being prepared before showing Tyler nearby lifting weights indoors. He was having difficulty lifting what looked like 20-pound weights. Only to get startled when he suddenly found himself being lifted by his collar by Eva who had a superior smirk as she held him up with only one hand. She then dropped him which caused the poor boy to accidentally drop one of his weights on top of his foot. He screamed in pain and hopped on one foot as he held the other one up.
Everything to prove, nothing in my way
I'll get there one day
Cause I wanna be famous
Na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na
The view went outside and revealed Sadie and Katie in bathing suits lying down on the sand on top of towels as they tanned. The two BFFF's were gazing at a shirtless Justin as he ran across the shore like a character from Baywatch, slow motion and everything. The scenery turned to the ocean showing a seagull with a six-pack soda ring around its neck staring into space. A salmon jumped out of the water behind it before it got eated by a shark, and a tentacle rose, grabbed and pulled the floating seagull below the water.
I wanna be
I wanna be
I wanna be famous
Beth was then seen on the dock of shame twirling a flaming baton for a bit before throwing it up in the air.
I wanna be
I wanna be
I wanna be famous
The baton continued to spin in the air before it suddenly became nighttime, and it fell back down out of sight. Gwen and Trent were seen smiling at each other as they sat next to each other by the campfire with Trent holding his guitar. The two leaned closer to each other but were stopped by Cody popping up between them before the camera zoomed out and showed the rest of the campers as well as Chris whistling by the campfire.
Chapter 8: On your own part 2
Chris was sitting in his comfortable chair in front of several tv screens which were being managed by his interns while chowing on a bowl of popcorn. He was watching the events that have taken place so far from both teams. Now however he was enjoying the of the Killer Bass running from a swarm of angry bees.
"Hehehe looks like the Killer Bass are buzzing with trouble. It seems like they might be feeling the sting of defeat in that event. Courtney's been trying to lead them but it seems like Eva or Dawn might make for a better queen bee." Christ kept the bee puns coming.
The interns rolled their eyes without being seen at hearing those puns.
"Well both teams have been scoring their points." Chris remarked while taking notes of who won points.
"Yo Chris!"
The host paused at hearing Chefs voice before taking out his walkie talkie. "What is it Chef?"
"Is it time for the bears to come out yet?"
"No man, I told you the bears are supposed to come out after they've gotten their food so that…" Chris paused when he saw he was still on camera. "Whoops spoiler alert. Anyway, no it's not time for the bears yet so just wait. By the way how's your buddy Johnson doing?"
"Still waiting and I think hoping he actually gets a chance to shoot something."
Chris chuckled. "Well let's hope someone on his assigned team does something stupid with the bear so he can get the excuse he needs to shoot. If not, then maybe just tell him to try setting a new long distance shooting record or something to cure his boredom." He paused when something in the screen caught his attention. "Gotta go now." He hung up and turned his full attention to the screen.
Well now, this looked interesting.
"Owwwww." Katie and Sadie both whined together as Dawn finished wrapping the plants that she had put on their exposed skin to treat their wasp stings.
"This is what you get for not wearing more conservative clothes in a place filled with bugs." Courtney pointed out.
"Those wasps were real mean." DJ remarked after they finally lost them.
"Well, what do you expect when their hive was knocked down thanks to a certain someone." Bridgette gave Duncan a look as she said this which was joined by a few others.
"Hey! I didn't do that on purpose!" The juvey punk crossed his arms defensively. Those damn things came close to swarming and stinging him to death.
"I'm hungry." Tyler added, which was soon followed by everyone being reminded they still needed to gather food.
"Ok so anyone here good at catching fish?" Courtney asked and got raised hands from Bridgette and Geoff.
"I've gone fishing with my dad as a kid." Geoff revealed with a look of fondness at the memory.
"My mom taught me too." Bridgette revealed which earned some looks. "I may be a vegetarian, but I don't have issues getting meat for others." She then frowned. "Just don't ask me to prep it or mercy kill them."
"Great so you two can gather fish." Courtney turned to Dawn. "Think you can find some berries or something in the forest Dawn?" The moon child gave a silent nod, and the CIT clapped her hands. "Excellent Tyler will accompany you so he can gather up more." She then turned to Eva. "Eva we'll need some firewood so you if don't mind please go gather some." Their strongest teammate just stared with arms crossed and flared her nostrils in acknowledgement as she turned to Duncan. "You wouldn't by any chance know how to descale a fish would you?"
The punk gave her a deadpan look. "What you think just because I went to juvey and know how to use a knife that means I know how to gut and scale a fish?"
The CIT sighed and looked a bit down. "Guess you don't know then."
"Of course, I know how!" Duncan raised his voice earning her startled attention along with the others. "I just don't like being seen as a stereotype where all guys who know how to use knives assume we also supposedly know how to use them in more productive ways outside of tormenting others."
Confessional
"Ok so someone seems a little sensitive." Courtney muttered before getting a thoughtful look. "Actually, it's kind of surprising, in a weird but nice sort of way. I didn't think Duncan was like that, maybe there's more to him than I thought."
(Static)
"I guess I can kind of understand what he means." Bridgette spoke with a bit of uncertainty. "It's kind of like how some people think all blondes are dumb. She then got an angry look. "I am not a dumb blonde, neither is Geoff or Dawn." Her expression then fell. "Though I sadly can't say the same for Lindsay."
(Static)
"His aura speaks so clearly to me." Dawn sat in her usual meditative pose with her eyes closed. "Since his father is a cop and expected him to follow in his footsteps it caused him to become rebellious and act out to show him how much he doesn't want to be a cop. After all it's hard to become a cop if you got a criminal record."
(Static)
"I guess I can somewhat understand what he means." Eva rubbed her chin. "Some people think I'm nothing but brawn but I'll have you know I've maintained a B grade point average." She then glared at the camera. "I only need a diploma so I can have the requirements needed to go pro."
"Ok sorry." Courtney apologized.
"So, what should we do?" Katie asked about herself and her BFF.
"You two just try and recover from those wasp stings. We have a race tomorrow and I want you both ready to run." Courtney ordered with a bit of softness in slight concern, though it was more about the challenge than their wellbeing.
"Yeah, we don't need deadweight slowing us down." Eva told the two with a warning look. "I want to crush our competition and dominate these games."
The two BFFs gulped.
"Ok then." Courtney clapped her hands. "Let's get a move on everyone."
"So, what're you going to do princess?" Duncan questioned since she had yet to mention her part.
"I'll stay and help try to catch some fish." Courtney simply answered.
"But there's only two fishing rods?" Geoff pointed out.
"Which is why I'll be going spear fishing instead." Courtney revealed before crossing her arms. "Now then does anyone here have any exceptional cooking skills."
"Oh yeah right here!" DJ immediately raised his hand. "I've been cooking in the kitchen for years.
"Really?" Courtney asked in slight surprise before conceding. "Alright then, DJ will be our chef. Any more questions?"
Silence was her answer as everyone looked at one another to see if they'd speak up but no one did.
"Ok then let's go!" Courtney cheered with a raised fist to the sky.
The team set out on their assigned tasks. Eva gathered enough firewood to make a bonfire. Geoff used the provided fishing pole and set up a spot to try and catch some fish which Bridgette joined in. Courtney found a big stick and carved the top into a makeshift spear before walking into the lake till she was knee deep and waited for any fish to swim near her. Dawn and Tyler had gone in search of anything edible growing in the wild but had yet to return. Duncan was sharpening the knife with an almost eager look to use it while DJ stood next to him as they sat in front of a flat rock they were going to use for a table to prep the food.
"Gotcha!" Courtney shouted as she struck her spear down and skewered a fish which she pulled out. "That's one, heads up Duncan." She threw the fish towards him who caught the now deceased animal.
"Huh trout, not bad princess." The punk commended right before he started the descaling process. He noticed DJ looking a bit uncomfortable. "What's with you man?"
"I never liked watching how live animals are prepped for cooking, especially when they still got their skin and all that. It's the eyes that always creep me out, makes me wish it was already set as pieces of salmon. At least then it's just a piece of meat without an actual body." DJ confessed while shuddering as he avoided watching Duncan work.
"Meh you see one carcass you've seen them all." Dunca shrugged being unbothered as he finished descaling and began gutting the fish without issue.
"Man, how can you do that without flinching at all?" DJ questioned while holding his stomach feeling queasy. He looks away but the sounds of flesh being gutted still gets to him.
"My uncle used to run a fish market. I've seen him do it dozens of times and learned from his example." The juvie punk revealed.
"Used to? What happened to him?" DJ asked curiously.
Duncans response was to give him a threatening look while pointing the knife towards him. "None of your business." He then turned to Geoff and Bridget. "Hey blondies where are your fishes!?"
"Patience dude, the fish come to us, we don't go to them." Geoff told him.
"Besides you're not even finished with the one you already have." Bridgette added.
"I bet the others are having a worse time than us gathering food. Heck, I bet Owen probably ate it all for himself and the rest are all hungry." Courtney optimistically said.
"Oh yeeeeeah I am stuffed." Owen wailed as he rubbed his belly while he lied down.
"Fish are definitely one of the best tasting meats. Although steaks definitely seem like the number one choice wouldn't you agree?" Ben asked the others as he lay against a large rock with his own satisfied stomach.
The others were all in the same boat as they had happy tummies from their meal. If they had sodas to drink with their fish it would've been perfect but sadly those were absent and had to settle for plain water.
"Yeah baby, my stomach is chilling with satisfaction." Leshawna happily stretched her arms as she sat down. She then turned to Ben. "Nice cooking Ben."
Ben shrugged. "Gotta make due with you have."
Noah licked the inside of his cheek, tasting leftover flavors. "Could've used some salt, pepper and seasoning but it was a decent meal all things considered."
"Hey compared to the meals we've been eating from Chef this may as well have been a five star meal." Gwen pointed out with equal satisfaction as she leaned back on the tree she was using. She soon got a confused look when she felt a surface that was not tree bark and turned to see she was leaning against Trent. The guitarist had his eyes shut as he was taking a small nap after he finished eating. The goth blushed and leaned away, her face reddening more when she caught Leshawna giving her a thumbs up. Heather also caught it and gave a small glare of dislike.
"So do we just wait around for the next challenge?" Justin asked while sitting up.
"Not much else to do unless…" Ben paused as an idea came to him. "How about we have a group chat to pass the time?"
"What're we supposed to talk about?" Noah gave a look. "Cause I'm not sharing personal information." He was not letting anyone know information about him.
Ben waved him off. "We don't have to, there's plenty more we can talk about. Like for instance what would you guys buy if you won the money?"
"Ohhh!" Owen raised his hand. "I'd wanna go to the all you can eat buffet restaurant."
"No surprise your wish is food related." Noah deadpanned.
"At least he's consistent." Ben pointed out. "If I won the money, then I would want to buy a car at a good deal."
"A car, not very subtle." Trent remarked.
"I have a license already." Ben revealed before pouting. "I just need my own set of wheels." He then brightened up. "Although I would also like to go to Japan."
"Japan? Why you wanna go to Japan?" Leshawna questioned.
"I've always been interested in the country as a kid ever since I first played a popular video game called Summo Slammers." Ben smiled as he recalled his favorite game series. "I've been to quite a few places on vacations and a road trip in summer but never Japan. They have such an amazing culture and food so different from ours that I want to see as much as I can. Especially places like Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo. Plus, I've always wanted to try their Ramen, Sashimi, Udon, Dango and other popular dishes."
"Wow you're really into their culture." Gwen remarked a bit impressed. She herself was also interested in seeing certain places in life. Japan wasn't on her list but she wouldn't say she was against going there herself.
"You only live once right." Ben smirked before turning to the rest. "What about you Trent?"
"Well, this may not be a surprise but I want to be a musician." Trent answered while holding his guitar and playing a tune. "I'm fine with either performing solo, forming or joining a band."
"Yeah, no surprise there." Justin said. "And of course, no surprise that I want to be a model. However, what you don't know is that I also want to be an actor." Everyone got raised eyebrows. "What? I'm more than just a pretty face and I intend to prove that."
"I can respect that." Leshawna offered before turning to the goth. "How about you Gwen, what you want to do with those big bucks if you win?"
The goth was silent for a bit as she pondered whether to tell them or not. Three of the guys which included her crush and growing friend already told their wishes. She brought her legs to her chest before speaking. "Ok well… if I win then I'm using the money to go to art school and then probably donate most of the rest to a reforestation program."
That got some interest.
"Huh somehow the art bit doesn't surprise me although the reforestation one does." Ben pointed out as he certainly hadn't taken Gwen for being eco-friendly. "What do you like to draw if you mind me asking? People, places, animals?"
She gave Ben a small smile. "Sorry but that's all your getting from me."
The former hero chuckled before conceding. "Alright then Izzy what about…" he paused mid-sentence when he noticed the absence of their red head teammate. "Izzy?" He looked around for her.
Now that he had called her name, the others suddenly seemed to become aware that she was absent as well. The team looked around but saw no trace of her in sight anywhere. "How did we not notice she was gone till now?" Leshawna questioned out loud.
"Urgh she better not be fishing again." Heather complained while looking at the lake to see if she had gone back in.
"It doesn't look like it." Noah pointed out when there were no shadows or signs of anything in the water.
"You don't think that bear Chriss talked about got her, do you?" Trent voiced his concern.
"There are bears out here?" Lindsay asked with her usual clueless expression.
"Yes, there are bears! How do you not remember what Chris said hours ago!?" Heather irritably questioned.
"Oh no Izzy!" Owen cried out in panic. "We gotta find her!"
"Come on guys, let's not panic." Ben tried to calm the group. "I'm sure Izzy is fine."
(Rustle)
The team turned at the sound to see rustling bushes.
"Urgh I bet its her trying to scare us." Heather commented in annoyance before approaching the foliage. "Hey Izzy come out of there already, you're not fooling anyone!"
Instead of the redhead however, they saw the head of a large brown bear emerge from the bushes. The girl's annoyance was instantly replaced by fear along with everyone else's when the animal emerged from the bushes. The large predator growled in aggression as it showed its teeth before standing on its hind legs as it rose to its full height.
"GREAT PYRAMID OF GYZA!" Owen cried out in a full-blown panic. "AHHHHHH WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!" Immediately he started to run around his teammates in hysterical terror like a headless chicken as he clearly lost his senses. "WE'RE GOING TO GET EATEN ALIVE BY A BEAR! OH THE HORROR! I WANT MY MOMMY!"
Heather, who had been frightened as well, broke out of it momentarily as annoyance again took over. She struck her foot out and tripped Owen who fell over and slid on the ground before stopping with his lower body hanging in the air. All but Lindsay looked at her for her actions. "What!? He was starting to drive me crazy!"
Their attention was quickly returned to the bear when they heard it growl again before it started to approach them.
"The trees! Head for the trees and climb!" Heather called out as the team ran away.
"That won't work, bears can climb!" Noah revealed the folly of her idea.
"Then just run away." Ben yelled as they ran with the bear coming after them.
(Grrrrrrrrr)
The team suddenly stopped in place when to their horror they saw a second bear emerge from the foliage in front of them. Cornering them as the first bear caught up with them and the second now blocked their path.
"Another bear!?" Leshawna fearfully stated.
"That's not fair! Chris said it was only going to be one bear!" Gwen angrily shouted.
"Well either he lied or this is the bear that was meant for the other team!" Trent guessed why this was happening.
"Does it matter! We're about to get eaten!" Owen fearfully shook on the spot.
The bear in front of them growled as it stepped closer to them. The team huddled closer together to try and protect themselves by not being easily targeted. The bear behind them gave a small roar as it also stepped closer and looked to the other bear with a tilt of its head. It wasn't expecting another of it's kind to be here, especially a female.
"Any time now Chef! Tranquilize these bears!" Heather shouted for him to hear.
The other bear growled again and to the teams horror it charged forward.
"Ahhh this is it y'all." Leshawna screamed while closing her eyes for the inevitable end. "I'm glad to have met all of you! Except you Heather, I can't stand you!"
"Gaaaaaaah!" Gwen screamed as she hugged Trent out of reflex who returned it in equal fear, unable to even enjoy it as their final moments together. Noah screamed as Owen gave him a bear hug in panic while Justin screamed from behind him. Heather and Lindsay screamed while the former held the latter in front of her as a shield. Ben was the only one not screaming as he actually took a fighting stance. Although he did look unnerved at the idea of fighting a bear barehanded.
So, imagine his surprise when the bear ran right past them and towards the other bear who looked surprised as well. The charging bear tackled the other one to the ground which immediately got it angry as it began to retaliate and swung its paw to knock its adversary off him. The male bear got up and growled at the female for the unprovoked attack. The female growled back before the two started to circle each other.
"Why are the bears fighting each other?" Owen asked out loud.
"Who cares let's get out of here!" Heather ordered.
The team was prepared to do just that when they saw the bear who was attacked charging its attacker. However, what really caught them by surprise was seeing the other bear stand up straight and punch its opponent in the nose. The injured bear held stopped and held it's now injured nose with a whine before responding by swinging it's claws and knocking the female bear down. The female responded by bitten the male's foot and causing it to fall backwards before the female got on top and started to actually slap the males face repeatedly in a comical fashion.
"Is that bear… bitch slapping the other?" Ben couldn't help but ask.
"I'm wondering more about the fact it seemed to jab the other on the nose." Noah also asked.
Gwen and Trent noticed they were held tightly in each other's arms and quickly separated as their faces turned red. They looked at anything but each other as Gwen felt embarrassed while Trent felt flustered but not embarrassed.
Confessional
"I can't believe I just hugged Trent like that." Gwen fidgeted with her fingers. "I mean I actually thought I was about to die getting mauled by bears and just did it in panic." She then blushed a bit. "Although it felt nice being in his arms."
(Static)
"I can't believe I hugged Gwen and she did the same." Trent said with a happy look. "Sure, we thought we were about to die but still out of everyone she hugged me. Maybe I do have a shot with her after all."
(Static)
"I almost wet my pants." Owen fearfully mentioned before he then farted. "At least I didn't fart out of fear."
The male bear rolled over and knocked the female off him and tackled her to the ground. It tried to bite her but the female seemed to have the same idea as she bite into his neck. The bear flinched but felt no pain from her jaws, that quickly changed however when he felt a surge of pain. Immediately the male reared back, freeing itself from the females jaws before he suddenly got teary eyed and ran away while whimpering. The now victorious female growled in triumph before turning her sights on the team.
"Uh oh, the bears looking at us again." Leshawna fearfully pointed out while stepping back.
"Maybe this one is friendly?" Ben considered since it did fight the other one when it could've attacked them alongside the other. Hopefully it wasn't a simple case of dispute over territory.
"In any case no one make any sudden moves, if worse comes to worse we fall down and play dead." Trent advised before looking to Noah and whispering. "That's for brown bears right?"
"Yes." Noah whispered in paralyzed fear as his feet were rooted to the ground. The bear got closer to them before stopping just over 5 feet from them. To their confusion the bear suddenly seemed to smile at them.
"You ok?"
Everyone blinked as they heard a human voice coming from the bear.
"Umm did that bear just talk?" Leshawna asked wondering if she was hallucinating from the fear she felt.
"No, I heard it too." Justin added in equal confusion.
"Like me too, I didn't know bears could talk." Lindsay wondered in awe.
Heather wanted to rebuke the blonde but was too dumbstruck to speak at what is happening. The bear stood up and gripped its face before removing its head as it was revealed to be a costume. Everyone got surprised looks when Izzy's grinning face was revealed as she removed her costume.
"IZZY!?" Everyone shouted at seeing the missing red head.
"Hey guys!" Izzy greeted them as if nothing was out of place.
"But… you… the bear… and the fighting…" Ben stuttered as he tried and failed to form a proper sentence.
"Why are you wearing a bear costume? Leshawna questioned.
"Scratch that, where the heck did you even get it?" Gwen added her inquiry.
"What the!?" A dumbstruck Chris exclaimed before his walkie sounded off.
"Yo Chris, isn't that the costume you had saved for a future challenge?"
The host raised his walkie at hearing Chef's voice. "Hold that thought Chef."
With that Chris immediately ran to check for himself. That couldn't be his bear costume, it was locked away in his private trailer. He soon came upon his island residence which was a large and shiny airstream trailer that was over 30 feet long. The host entered his trailer which showed a marvelous and luxurious interior as his place included everything he would need. A living room, kitchen, bathroom, dining table, tv, shower, air conditioner, bed and all the works. The place looked like something you'd see from a single room high class hotel.
Chris went to his closet and looked inside to see that the bear costume was really gone. Chris got a flabbergasted look at seeing Izzy had indeed taken it. Needless to say he was not amused by this.
"How the heck did she get back here, steal it and then get back to her team so fast!?" Chris asked out loud in disbelief.
The host now considered what he should do in response to this. Stealing from him personally definitely gave him just cause to disqualify her team from the challenge. Naturally he would reveal that during the end of the challenge so as to not interrupt today's episode. Then again, he wasn't sure this qualifies as cheating in the middle of a challenge. It's not like Izzy stole anything essential that would make things easier for them. Plus, that fight between her and the bear was definitely awesome entertainment. He didn't even know it was Izzy until she revealed herself. Which also begged the question of how on earth did she avoid the cameras?
"Man, that girl is almost as weird as the hippie." Chris grumbly commented.
"Yo Chris what's going on over there?"
The host raised his walkie. "Apparently I've been robbed of one bear costume that's what!" Chris responded in annoyance. "Now I have to scrap the bear costume and replace one of the challenges with a new one.
"Why not just take the costume back?"
"Because now that they've seen the costume, they'd think another bear encounter might be someone in disguise. I need those suckers to experience real genuine fear without doubts!"
"Can't argue with that logic. Well in any case it seems like this team passed the bear test, or at least Izzy did for them.
"Guess so." Chris got a curious look. "I wonder how the other team is handling their bear encounter? Your partner did release the other bear the same time you did right?"
"Course he did, he's a professional."
"Well, I'm going back to my viewing to see how they're doing." He then got his mischief smirk. "Maybe they've had just as big a scare as their competition." He chuckled in amusement at the thought.
"I should be surprised and yet for some reason I'm not." Courtney deadpanned as she and the whole team watched Dawn pet the bear over its head. The animal was lying down with its belly up almost like a happy dog.
After they were finished gathering enough food they worked on making their lunch. Eva started a fire by rubbing sticks together so hard they instantly combusted. As they were eating their food the team was confronted by the bear who seemed drawn by the smell of their food. Nearly everyone panicked while Eva on the other hand looked ready for a fight. Thankfully (for the bear's sake) Dawn had stepped in and using her weird communication skills with animals, managed to talk the bear down.
"I wanted to wrestle the bear." Eva grumbled with crossed arms at being denied an opponent.
"I'd pay to see that." Duncan commented while biting into the sliced piece of fish he had cooked and been eating when the bear showed up and interrupted them all.
"Sorry for depriving you of action Eva but I just couldn't stand the thought of you harming this wonderful creature." Dawn apologized as she turned to them. "After all it's pretty clear what would've happened if you fought him."
Eva would've creamed the bear.
"You owe me one for this." The heavyweight lifter told her before heading back to get her food.
"Well anyway nice going with the bear Dawn, I doubt those screaming gophers can top that." Courtney commended her while feeling giddy that their chances for winning were looking good. They had managed to gather food and the way Dawn handled the bear was completely humane. Plus their tents were pretty well made, so perhaps they'll also score a win in that challenge.
"Can you make the bear leave now please? I'm not comfortable eating with it around." DJ politely asked while standing further back than the others in slight fear despite the bear acting friendly right now.
Dawn gave a silent nod as she spoke with the bear asking it to depart. The bear gave what looked like a frown before replying in a groan. Giving it a kind smile Dawn told him to wait a moment before she turned to her teammates.
"Hey can you throw me one of the fishes." She requested and the punk got the idea as he tossed one of the cooked but uneaten fishes to her. She caught it and looked at the roasted oceanic lifeform with a momentary sad look before giving it to the bear who happily took it. Biting into it and tasting the delicious morsel he turned and left without another fuss.
"Ok now that that's out of the way how about we get back to actually eating?" Courtney clapped her hands a bit eagerly, she was hungry but also pleased they clearly just passed the bear test.
No one disagreed with that as they all went back to their campfire and feasted on their fish. Dawn was the sole exception as she ate her veggie/fruit meal on top of a stump a few feet away.
"Hey Dawn, why don't you come join us?" DJ invited.
"Thank you but I'd rather not be too close as I watch you all eat." The moon child politely turned down.
Confession
"I have no real problem watching people eat meat or dairy food." Dawn assured the camera before running her arm. "I just don't like seeing them eat food that I can still tell what kind of animal it used to be. So yeah watching them eat fish that hasn't been chopped to pieces to make it unrecognizable, not my thing."
(Static)
"I kind of feel bad for Dawn, sitting all alone away from us. She needs a best friend like how me and Sadie are." Katie told with her hands to her heart in sadness for the lonely girl.
(Static)
"Why do I feel bad?" Eva wondered with a frown that was less intimidating and a bit more unhappy as she looked herself over. "I know it's not a stomach ache cause I don't get those. My stomach is just like me, a kickass machine of power!" she paused for several seconds before admitting. "Ok so I feel bad for hippie girl."
(Static)
"She may be weird but at least she's no Heather. I figured why not be more friendly to her?" Bridgette remarked.
"We're all pretty much done so how about you come over by the fire where its warmer?" Bridgette gave her own invite as she took her last bite. The others were also just about finished eating as well while some like Eva, DJ and Duncan already finished their meal.
The sun was nearly set and the temperature was dropping as night time approached.
"Ok." Dawn accepted as she walked over while finishing her own dish as she munched on the last few berries. She sat on an open spot between DJ and Bridgette.
"Glad to have you join us. It didn't seem right for u to be by yourself." The surfer told with a smile at seeing them all together.
"Thank you, your very nice." Dawn expressed her appreciation.
"So, Dawn how about telling us a little about yourself?" Courtney asked figuring it'd be nice to learn more about the girl.
"Oh, well my mom is an animal lover like me. In fact, we're both proud members of Peta." Dawn began telling, earning an excited look from Bridgette.
"Really? So am I!" The surfer revealed happily at meeting a fellow member.
"Yes, I especially like your online username; BM-Surfing Queen." Dawn smiled.
Bridgette got a disturbed look as she leaned back. "How do you know my username!?"
"It's all over your aura, along with how much you love your parents." Dawn said as she looked into Bridgette's eyes which made the surfer feel that much more uncomfortable. She wasn't alone as the others also got looks.
"Ok how do you do that?" DJ couldn't help but ask.
"Do what?" Dawn tilted her head in confusion.
"That weird thing you do that somehow tells you things about us that no stranger should know." Courtney questioned while having a suspicious look. She didn't want Dawn to mention anything about herself next.
"Oh well you've heard of palm reading right?" Dawn asked as everyone shared looks before nodding. "Well instead of palms I look at a person and see their aura which is colored by the type of personality they have. It also reveals parts of their history to me."
"Ummm… ok, so what color is my aura then?" Courtney couldn't resist asking.
Dawn stared at the CIT for a moment as if looking into her which made feel uncomfortable again. "Yours is red with some specks of black as well."
"Is that good or bad?" The CIT asked as she didn't like wearing the color black much.
"I'll leave that up to you to find out." Dawn cryptically told, not wanting to sound judgmental.
"Ah come on what does it mean." Courtney pressed on, now curious about what it could mean.
"Sorry but I'm not telling." Dawn continued turning down.
"Well can you at least stop doing that aura reading thing with us, it's freaking us out." Duncan mentioned.
"Oh, do me and Sadie have the same colored auras!?" Katie and her BFF hugged each other in wonder.
"Surprisingly yes you do." Dawn revealed. It was actually surprising to see two people having the same-colored auras. "Your in good synch with each other almost mentally as well."
The two BFF's let out an "Ehhhh." In joy as they hugged each other.
"So enough about me, what about you guys?" Dawn asked her teammates.
"Don't you already know plenty about us from your aura thing?" Geoff asked in puzzlement.
"I don't know everything, just a basic example of your characters." The moon child cleared up before looking at Eva. "What about you Eva? Anything you'd like to share?"
"I'm not the sharing kind." Eva rebuked with arms crossed.
"Oh ok." The light blonde didn't press on before turning to Courtney. "Would you like to share? Perhaps with what you'd like to do if you won the prize money?"
Courtney didn't mind that question at all as she got a confident look. "That's easy, I'd use it to help me get in law school where I'll learn all I need to become a lawyer."
Everyone blinked.
"You wanna be a lawyer?" Duncan questioned with some uncertainty. He wasn't a big fan of lawyers since it was one that helped put him away in juvie when he got sued. Then again, he imagined Courtney dressed up like one and liked the image.
"It's one of my alternatives I have planned out for my future."
"One of them?" Tyler looked in disbelief. "What else are you planning to be, a doctor?"
"No way, I don't want to be around sick people." Courtney dismissed before crossing her arms with a smirk. "Although I am thinking about getting into politics and to eventually run for president."
Now everyone had raised eyebrows and some had looks of awe or doubt.
"President!? Dude that's like the highest level of authority in the world." Geoff commented.
"Umm don't you mean Prime Minister?" Bridgette pointed out how that was Canada's highest authority.
"No, I mean president. Which I will become after moving to the US and running for office if I so choose." Courtney revealed her plans which silenced Bridgette."
"You really think you'll become President?" Duncan questioned skeptically. To him that sounded about as likely as someone winning the lottery, slim to none.
"It's one of my plans as I said." Courtney repeated with her head held high before lowering it. "That's enough about me, who wants to tell about themselves next?"
And so, the team kept chatting, sharing a bit about themselves. DJ talked about how about he'd like to open his own restaurant if he won the money where he'd use all the great recipes his mother taught him in the kitchen. Bridgette to the surprise of no one expressed her desire to become a professional surfer. Eva finally decided to tell them how she's planning to break the world records of the world's strongest woman. Katie and Sadie expressed an interest in travelling the world together. Geoff told how he'd like to join Bridgette in the surfing competitions and throw the best parties in every place he went. Tyler said how he plans to become a professional athlete (Duncan held back his comments about how clumsy the jock is). Dawn mentioned how she'd like to donate the money to a natural preserve or a forest restoration project. Duncan simply expressed an interest in being a mechanic since he likes cars, although he did also mention how he'd have to use some of the money to pay for his release.
Eventually time passed, nighttime fully came and the teams went to sleep to prepare for the race to camp tomorrow.
The Next Morning
The morning sun had already risen and the Screaming Gophers were all still snoozing in their tents. Sleeping in as they were thankful that the race wasn't meant to start until close to noon, there was no reason to wake up early. The guys were all sleeping on their side while a tarp wall separated them from the girls who were all in the makeshift room next to them. It was something done to give the girls whatever privacy they could. They may have had to sleep much closer to the guys but thankfully any awkwardness was avoided. It certainly helped that none of the guys tried any funny business. Although Izzy had commented about how they should've all just slept in a giant pile. Not to mention being in close quarters to Heather had of course led to some insults being thrown between her and Leshawna. Ben had to actually break it up between them when the African girl came close to giving Heather a piece of her mind with her fist. It was a miracle that there hadn't been any disturbances when they finally went to sleep.
THRRRRRRRRRRRRRP
Except for the sound of Owen farting in his sleep.
Thankfully however that was taken into consideration when they made their new living quarters and had makeshift windows open to allow fresh air inside. That and they made Owen sleep at the end of the makeshift wall while his butt was facing away from them to avoid breathing his fumes. It was fortunate none of them were very light sleepers otherwise they'd be having a rude awakening.
Speaking of awakenings, one of the campers was already starting to wake up.
Sniff sniff sniff
Noah's nostrils twitched as his sense of smell started to register something dislikable. His face twisting into one of discomfort before he registered a smell and his eyes slowly opened as he lifted his head from his pillow, wondering what that was. He soon got his answer when his eyes widened after his brain caught up to what his eyes were seeing.
He hadn't been lying over a pillow but on Owen's barefoot which had been pressed on the side of his face.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" The book worm screamed in horror as he crawled away till he hit the tarp wall behind him. His loud scream startled everyone awake, including the girls.
"Ghyaaaaa!" Leshawna's voice screamed behind the makeshift wall in startled fright.
"Daaaaaah!" Gwens voice joined the startled scream.
"Sweet Mother of Desserts!" A panicked Owen rose up.
"We're under attack duck and cover!" Izzy's voice came next before she literally came jumping through the tarp wall and crashed on top off Trent and Justin who huffed in discomfort at the sudden weight on top of them.
Ben woke up startled along with the others as they all looked around in alarm wondering what was happening.
They all got confused when Noah went running out of the tent. Knocking down one of the tarp walls as he went straight towards the lake where he proceeded to actually submerge his head in the water. With the tarp gone sunlight flooded in brightening the interior more and causing everyone to shield their eyes from the sudden brightness.
"What the hell was with the rude awakening I was enjoying my beauty sleep!" Heather demanded.
"No kidding, I almost thought a bear got in the tent and ate someone." Leshawna expressed her own displeasure.
"Ask Noah when he's done doing whatever he's doing, he's the one who screamed." Trent rubbed his eyes while stretching his back from the discomfort Izzy's fall caused him. Justin silently doing the same thing.
"He better have a good reason for waking everyone." Gwen sourly threatened. She had been having a nice dream about her and Trent but now it was gone and she'll likely not get it back even if she went to sleep again.
"I'm sure he will." Ben remarked while wondering what the heck happened to him.
The group waited for a few moments as Noah kept his head submerged in the water. His hands joining in for some reason as they moved around beneath the surface. Finally, the bookworm raised his head out of the water with a gasp while scratching his face a bit before wiping it off with some of the water.
"Care to tell us what the heck that was all about?" Heater demanded from the bookworm.
Noah blinked seeing them all looking expectant of an answer and now realized the disruption he had unintentionally caused. His mind went into overdrive to think of something to say. He sure as heck wasn't going to tell the truth of what happened. It was bad enough what happened during the staying awake challenge, he wasn't going to tell them what embarrassing thing occurred. So, he collected his thoughts and came up with a lie.
"Sorry." He apologized halfheartedly. "Had a really bad nightmare." It also wasn't a complete lie, waking up to Owens foot on his face was indeed a nightmare. Something that no one would blame you for screaming in horror but they didn't need to know that.
Gwen raised a brow. "Ok I can get that's why you screamed but why'd you run out and dunk your head in the lake?
"And why were you scratching your face?" Trent added.
"Ohhh did you have a nightmare about suffering through an Egyptian apocalypse where your face was full of boils and sores that wouldn't stop itching!?" Izzy went right up to Noah's face which made him back away uncomfortably.
"Ewww." Heather expressed disgust at that.
"That sounds painful." Lindsay put in her own dislike. "I wouldn't want my face boiled in hot water."
Everyone gave the dumb blond a deadpan look.
"She said boils not boiled girl." Leshawna corrected.
Noah gave an annoyed look for the continued questioning but thought his next words out. "Let's just say the nightmare involved infections and I wanted to be sure I wasn't still dreaming." As expected the comment earned disgusted looks from them. Clearly, they didn't want to think about what he might've been diseased with.
Confessional
"Hehehe yeah we all know that's a lie." Chris chuckled while leaning back. "Poor Noah, first he kisses a guys ear in his sleep and now he wakes up to Owens smelly foot in his face." He shuddered in disgust. "I mean did you see that thing? Also was it just me or was there something black under his toenails?"
"Ok I don't want to hear more about this." Ben immediately wanted a change of topic and turned to the team. "Well since we're all awake and clearly not going back to sleep should we start getting ready for the final challenge?"
"What time is it anyway?" Leshawna asked while rubbing her eyes to help shrug off some drowsiness.
"Still too early for the challenge apparently." Heather pointed out as she revealed the clock in her hand showing their challenge was still over an hour away. Why could the nerd have woken up from his nightmare in like an hour.
"Let's just get our day started and over with." The goth told before turning to tent and closing the tarp entrance Noah made before poking her head out. "I'm getting changed so you guys stay out." She warned before disappearing inside.
"Oh me too." Izzy quickly went inside.
"You boys better not be thinking of trying to take a peep cause I'm a personally whoop your butts if you do." Leshawna threatened as she stood guard before them.
"Hey, no need to get all tense we're all gentlemen here." Ben raised his hands peacefully before looking at the others. "Ok maybe not gentleman but we're polite and not rudely immature. Right guys?"
"As a future model who will no doubt be constantly hunted by the paparazzi, I value someone's privacy." Justin commented with arms crossed for once with a serious expression.
"My mom raised me better than that, plus she'd kill me if I did such a thing." Trent threw in.
"I'm pretty sure Duncan might've tried to steal a look but I on the other hand have no interest." Noah added with his usual tone. Honestly even if he was interested in dating, none of the girls here were interesting to him.
Lastly was Owen "I like looking at food more than girls." The large contestant paused as his words registered and he saw the looks he got from everyone else. "I mean- I like girls and they're nice to look- uhh with clothes on I mean- I wouldn't want to see them without them- Uhh that is- I mean." He fumbled with his words.
Ben raised his hand signaling him to stop. "I think we get what you mean." He didn't want to see him put his foot in mouth any further. Frankly it was more pitiful to see than insulting to the girls.
Gwen and Izzy came out and then the rest of the girls went in to change while the others stood out. They went about their day getting ready for the final part of their challenge that awaited them today.
Meanwhile with the Killer Bass they had also woken up and gotten started on their day as they passed the time. Although they had tried to gather some more fish to eat they hadn't had any luck today as it seemed they weren't biting anymore. This of course displeased the fisherman who had been trying to catch them.
"Man, where are the fish? We caught plenty of them yesterday." Duncan irritably answered as he had been sitting for almost an hour yet he hadn't gotten so much as a nibble.
"Perhaps they've wised up and left?" Geoff guessed as he sat next to the juvey punk also with a fishing pole.
"Fish aren't that smart." Duncan retorted before pausing as the memories of the sharks from the first challenge flashed in his mind. "They're not… are they?" He asked no one in particular.
"You'd be surprised how intelligent an animal can be."
Duncan and Geoff jumped in startled shock as they turned to see Dawn suddenly behind him. "Dammit Dawn, don't do that!" The punk expressed irritation for her actions.
"Seriously you could give someone a heart attack like that." Geoff held his hand to said heart as he calmed it down.
"Sorry." The moonchild apologized though the small smirk at the corner of her lip showed she found it amusing.
"We may as well just stop, we've got so little time left even if we caught some fish now we'd have no time to prep and cook them." Geoff was bummed out knowing they'd have to skip breakfast.
"This is so going to be a hindrance to us." Duncan grumbled knowing the lack of nourishment would make running back to camp in time that much more difficult.
"GOOOOD MORNING CAMPERS!"
The group jumped in startlement at Chris sudden voice. The same reaction from the other team where they were.
From his set up video room, Chris watched both teams as he talked into his walkie and broadcasted his voice.
"Get ready cause we're about to start the final even of our 2 day challenge!"
"Even on a walkie he sounds annoying." A faint voice said.
"I heard that, Gwen." The host warned and was pleased when he saw the goth's eyes widened a bit at him having heard her whisper. "Anyway you've all nearing the end. So let's get ready to start the final act! So if any of you aren't dressed yet then hop to it cause you got less than 5 minutes before the race starts!"
"Good thing we're already dressed and ready." Ben's voice pointed out.
"Let's just go get this over with." Heathers voice grumbled.
He saw the Screaming Gophers had gathered by a startling line which had been carved on the ground.
"Alright campers, get ready. On your marks… get set… NOT YET!" His false start made both team's stumble. "Hehehe got ya that time, now get back to the starting line." From their two locations the teams glared at the walkie before getting back to their starting positions. "Ok then, on your mark… GOOOOO!"
The Screaming Gophers and Killer Bass ran as the race officially began.
Back at the camp, Chris was now joined by Chef who came back after the bear challenge ended. The two were chowing on some potato chips as they enjoyed the show. Johnson had returned but had gone back to his quarters, not really interested in watching the race.
"So Chef which team you think is going to win?" The host asked his companion while crunching on a handful of chips.
"Who knows." Chef remarked while sipping his soda.
The host suddenly got a look. "Care to make a wager?"
Chef raised a brow before getting a challenging look. "What're the stakes?"
Chris rubbed his chin in thought, pondering what the rewards and consequences should be. "Well how about…" he paused when he remembered the cameras and waved him to come closer. "Ok so how about…" he then whispered his idea in Chef's ear and as the cook listened his eyes widened a bit before they narrowed as a look of glee surfaced.
"Ohhh yeah, I can get behind that for sure." Chef said while rubbing his hands. "I'll wager that the Killer Bass win."
"Fine then, I get the Gophers." Chris said unbothered since even he lost the bet it wouldn't be a big deal for him. He then struck out his hand. "So it's a deal."
Chef he gripped the hosts hand. "DEAL!"
"Excellent now let's sit back and enjoy the show." Chris said while lying back in his seat as they watched the multiple screens of the campers racing back here.
The two watched as the teams were running for it in a hurry, wanting to earn the final point of the event. They observed in amusement as Owen was already starting to look worn out with his t-shirt already having sweat stains in his pits.
"Hehehe man Owen just can't handle a race." Chris chuckled while sipping his smoothie. "Hmm this is a tasty smoothie."
"That boy needs to get a serious workout if he wants to have muscles like these." Chef remarked while flexing his bicep which showcased strong muscles.
"That would take years, the boy is just too fat. Heck he already looks like he meets the requirements for a sumo wrestler." Chris pointed out before a lightbulb went of in his head. "Hmm wrestling…"
"Oh no Chris, don't tell me you getting another one of those crazy ideas." Chef dreadfully questioned.
"Indeed I am Chef but I'll save it for the future." Chris chuckled evilly before laughing at what he just saw happen. "And Heater get's wacked in the face by a tree branch courtesy of Gwen, I bet the goth enjoyed that."
"Meanwhile the cowboy just lost his hat and is trying desperately to retrieve it." Chef commented as he watched Geoff try and catch his hat was blow away after getting caught in a branch.
"He's wasting time that's for sure, every second counts after all." Chris stated matter of factly.
"Now Justin just saw his reflection in a puddle." Chef pointed at the super model like contender who was staring at his reflection while making poses.
"Why couldn't they have this much trouble when they ran during the start yesterday?" Chris mumbled in disappointment that things were less interesting in the beginning. "Time to make things more interesting." The host decided before taking out his walkie talkie. "Yo interns, do you copy over?"
"…. We're here." A tired voice answered.
"It's time to spice things up… release the two angry bears." Chris ordered a mischief grin.
"Umm are you sure this is a good idea?"
"Hey! I pay you to do things not to ask questions." The host reminded them in annoyance. "Just do it."
And so they did, which was soon shown to the two viewers and the world wide audience. The two savage bears were released from their cages and let loose on both teams. Their screams of alarm were music to Chris ears as he watched them panic and run for their lives. Ah it was so good to be the host in charge of challenging these youngsters.
"Gaaaaaah I thought we were done with bears!?" Heather questioned incredulously as she ran.
"I'm pretty sure this isn't even the same bear, this one looks meaner!" Ben pointed out while running.
"Maaamaaaaaaaa!" DJ cried out while sprinting for his life.
"Just ruuuuun!" Gwen yelled while going as fast as her body would permit.
"We're all going to diiiiiie!" Owen screamed in panic as he tried to keep up with everyone.
The two then looked to see the other team's reactions which were just as great.
"WHY IS THIS BEAR CHASING US!?" Courtney screamed in terror as the bear could be seen right behind them.
"Hey hippie girl can't you tell it to leave us alone!?" Duncan called out as he ran ahead of the moonchild.
"I can't this one is too angry and has no intention of talking!" Dawn revealed as she ran for it.
"For those who are wondering, I had these bears specially trained to put on a good show. Plus I made sure they'd be in a real grumpy mood, how you might ask?" Chris spoke into the camera with a smirk before chuckling. "Well let's just say it involved them listening to terrible music for several hours."
"Just keep running for it dudes!" Geoff told everyone as he frantically tried to stay ahead of the bear.
"I'm done running!" Eva suddenly declared before she stopped and turned to face the apex predator. She growled at the beast before tackling it to the ground.
Chris and Chef's eyes widened as they saw the body builder start fighting the angry animal.
"Maaaaan that girl is so tough it's practically crazy." Chris said as he saw her wrestle the animal and lift it overhead before throwing it into a tree. The animal did not appreciate that as it came back at her and tried to bite her, but she avoided it and put the animal in a headlock.
"That girl would make one hell of a soldier." Chef spoke while his mind started imagining her in an army uniform. For some reason his mind showed her as a drill sergeant calling the trainees maggots. Strangely he actually found it fitting for some reason.
"Don't hurt him too badly!" Dawn's voice called back as the team kept running.
"Don't worry tinker bell I won't" Eva responded before tightening her chokehold on the bear, slowly suffocating it. "That's right, just go to sleep Yogi." A moment later the bears struggles ceased as it lost consciousness. "Enjoy your nap." With that she took off running again to catch up with her team.
"Well so much for that, but at least we got to see something interesting." Chris remarked as he enjoyed the man… or in this case girl vs beast moment. "Guess we better head for the finish line to see who's going to win."
With that the two stood up and walked to the designated finish where a white line of chalk was carved on the ground and a sash of toilet paper was above it. The two stood and waited knowing that it wouldn't be long before they arrived.
"Out of my way!" A familiar voice shouted in the distance.
Chris and Chef used the binoculars they had brough along and saw the campers from both teams running towards them. The front had several from both sides as they were pushing and shoving any of their opponents aside to get the lead. Izzy, Courtney, Geoff, Ben and Duncan were all near the front.
"And here come our campers!" Chris narrated like a sports commentator. "They're neck to neck in a struggle to claim first place! Which team will claim the final point and prove to be the winner!"
The stampede of both teams kept running, closing on the finish line in determination. Finally, the teams crossed the finish line with Duncan being the one who crossed first while the others followed suit.
"Ha, I win!" The punk cheered at his victory while most of his teammates cheered as well.
"Urgh we lost again!" Heather screamed in anger at losing the final event.
"It was close." Ben tried to cheer them up.
"And the Screaming Gophers win the final event!" Chris said earning stunned looks of disbelief from both teams.
"Say what! Didn't you see Duncan cross the finish line first!? Courtney angrily exclaimed.
"Yes I did but it's not about which person crosses first but rather which whole team does." Chris reminded before pointing a finger at Courtney. "And in case you haven't noticed, you seem to be short one teammate."
At that the Killer Bass looked at each other before they saw Chris was right as they finally noticed that Tyler was absent.
"Darn it! Where's Tyler!?" Courtney demanded angrily now.
"He's back there, looking dead." Chef pointed from where the team came running from.
Everyone turned and saw the clumsy jock lying face down on the ground. The most alarming thing however was the fact he had several dirt footprint like impressions all over his back. That and he wasn't moving at all which made him look like runover roadkill.
"Tyler!" Lindsay called out in concern for her crush as she and the others went to check on him. The blonde knelt down and flipped him over, revealing the boy had swirls in his eyes and was completely knocked out.
"Is he okay?" Trent asked. The guy might be on the opposing team but he was a nice guy despite his clumsiness.
"He got trampled by who knows how many people. Although he's in one piece I don't think there isn't a part of him that isn't going to wake up in quite a bit of soreness and possibly pain." Ben guessed.
"The dude is going to need a chiropractor." Geoff remarked.
"Well he won't be getting one unless you all pay for it yourselves." Chris waved off before turning to Cheff. "Pick him up and send him to the infirmary to get fixed up enough to continue." The cook just shrugged before grabbing and tossing the unconscious jock over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
"You could at least try to be more gentle with him." Leshawna pointed out with a disapproving look.
Who cares." Heather shot back. "He's on the other team, the more of their teammates are down and out the better for us."
"Would it kill you to be nice for even a moment?" Gwen rhetorically asked.
"Why should I?" Heather replied back before turning to Chris expectingly. "So Chris who won?"
The host grinned. "So glad you asked." He then turned to all the competitors. "You all did well in each of the events but only one team has come out on top." He then raised a finger. "So, by a close match with a score of three to two the winners are…" he paused on purpose for dramatic effect.
Both teams held their breaths waiting for him to reveal the winners. Seconds ticked by as Chris continued to pause the answer to their annoyance. Their patience began to dwindle as the seconds ticked by and their irritation grew.
"JUST TELL US ALREADY!" Leshawna yelled out having had enough of the hosts attempt at drama build up.
Chris gave her a bland look before shrugging his shoulders. "Meh it's just not the same without the dramatic background music. Anyway the winning team is… The Screaming Gophers!" he shouted the winning teams name.
"Awesome!" Owen cheered as he and his team raised their hands in victory.
"So, what's this prize you were talking about?" Gwen asked, pretty much expecting it to be something minor like a gift basket or something they'd have to share together and get minimal amounts each.
"Glad you asked, both teams follow me." Christ gave his usual smirk before leading the teams to a large house shaped tent that looked almost as big as one of the cabins. He then turned to them before gripping a hanging rope that would unveil the inner contents. "Now then Screaming Gophers, as the winners of the challenge you all get to enjoy yourselves in this tent… along with all its contents… LIKE THESE!" He then yanked the rope down.
The tents curtains parted to reveal the interior and the eyes of both teams widened at what they witnessed as their jaws actually dropped in shock. Inside the tent was a large tv that's set up with different video game consoles lying out before it. A large couch big enough for six of them to sit was facing the tv with a message chair beside it. However what really got their attention was the large table in the back. On top of said table were boxes of pizza, a tray filled with cheese burgers, another with tacos and hot dogs. There were several cans of sodas next to a large ice box, plastic cups and napkins. And the sweet finale was the several bowls with banana split ice creams perfectly set up, inside a glass door freezer like the kind you'd see in a supermarket.
"Welcome to the entertainment room/lunch buffet!" Chris gestured to the inside dramatically.
Confessional
"I didn't think I'd feel this way after seeing that gorgeous buffet from the stay awake challenge. But Chris has definitely topped it with this presentation." Gwen admitted while rubbing her stomach. "I felt hungrier just from looking at it."
(Static)
"I saw this in a dream once." Owen said in awe before he got a thoughtful look and pinched himself. "Oww! Nope I'm not dreaming, sweet!" he cheered in joy at this revelation.
(Static)
"Man, that's like something out of a teenage fantasy." Leshawna said with an appreciative smile.
(Static)
"Man I am so glad we won this challenge!" Ben cheered with a raised fist. "If they had included smoothies then it would've been perfect.
(Static)
"Ha in your face losers!" Heather sneered at how they were going to enjoy their prize.
"Take it in Gophers cause for the rest of the afternoon and night, you all get to enjoy this deluxe room all for yourselves. Enjoy playing some digital entertainment and eating from every teenager's favorite choice of fast food gourmet with sweet and tasty ice cream for dessert." Chris explained.
"Yeah!" Practically all the Screaming Gophers cheered in excitement as they all ran inside to claim its contents.
"This is so unfair!" Courtney protested at seeing what they were now missing out on before turning to Chris. "And why did you have us come along when we already lost?"
Chris gave her a saucy grin. "Because I wanted you all to see the awesome prize you failed at winning so the team is basically rubbing it in your faces that they're now living it up and your all not."
"If I wasn't so angry at you right now, I'd actually give ya props for that." Duncan grumbled, also feeling envious at what he and the others could've been enjoying if they had won. That pizza looked especially inviting to him, same as that ice cream. He can't recall how long it's been since he's even had a hot dog.
"Well, you've seen what you lost out on, so now it's time to prepare for your elimination ceremony. So, make your decision and I'll see you all soon to see who's next on the boat of losers." Chris mentioned before leaving.
The time had come as night had fallen and the team was now gathered by the campfire. Tyler had regained consciousness after waking up with severe back pain. Which Chef had treated with his usual kind of painful and excessive force that felt worse than when he got trampled. Though it did end up working after a while.
"Well campers, you now find yourselves back here after an almost 3-win streak. You were on a roll but now that's over tonight, you must now prepare to say farewell to one of your own." Chris announced in his usual foreboding tone during the ceremony while holding the tray of marshmallows. "Now then, tonight's safe campers are… Geoff."
The cowboy hat wearing blonde smiled as he caught the white treat.
"Duncan."
The punk caught and immediately threw the snack into his mouth.
"Dude." Chris frowned in annoyance. "Your supposed to wait till after the loser leaves before you eat it."
"Whatever man, I was craving something sweet after seeing that ice cream filled fridge." Ducan retorted unbothered as he swallowed the marshmallow. "Plus, you never mentioned that rule till now." He pointed out.
"Well now you do, so you better not do it anymore." Chris warned before continuing. "Anyway, moving on the other safe campers are Dawn, Bridgette, DJ, Eva, Courtney and Kadie."
The remaining campers were now Tyler and Sadie.
"Tyler your on the chopping block for costing your team the final point that would've won them the challenge." Chris revealed before turning to chubbier BFF. "And Sadie you… well you just got severely stung by wasps and didn't really help much at all in several challenges as a result." He then gave her a curious look while grinning. "Yet so did Kadie and yet you're the only one of the two who's now in danger of elimination, weird."
The two remaining campers glanced at each other at Chris words.
"And now the final marshmallow goes to…" The host began only to pause.

"Sadie." Chris tossed the treat to the last winner of the night. Tyler look crestfallen at being eliminated. "Sorry dude but it's time to go."
The clumsy jock got up. "At least I got Lindsay's number." He mentioned the positive of his time here.
"Nice man." Duncan commended and offered a fist bump which the jock returned before the punk then frowned as a thought came to mind. "Are you certain it's the right number?"
"Of course it is." Tyler replied before getting a look of uncertainty as he recalled the blondes less than average intellect. "I think… maybe?"
"Sadly, there's no time to find that out. Besides you don't have your cellphones anyway." Chris reminded them.
"Well, it was fun hanging with you guys." Tyler said before he began to depart.
"Bye Tyler." Bridgette waved goodbye, which was joined by a few of the others.
"You were a chill dude." Geoff added while also waving. The jock waving in return as he left and went to the dock of shame to depart the island.
"Well, this was an interesting result of the challenge and personally I can't wait to see who's getting voted off next. So join us next time on Total… Drama… Island!" Chris bid farewell to the public till the next challenge.
There you have it folks, another one down and more to come.
