CWJBHN - Jake Scott & Josie Dunne
A sense of longing, a need to find reason. Life, after Voldemort's demise, has been just as chaotic and difficult to deal with than needed. What was next? Harry Potter asked himself as he stared into his steaming bowl of porridge and plate of bacon. It was their second term as returning eighth year students, and it was pretty much the last stretch before he heads into auror academy. Compared to the past 7 years in Hogwarts, it's been way too boring to say the least. The weather itself reflected the mood; a light drizzle settled over the school grounds and strong winds accompanied with gray clouds loomed overhead.
You said your favorite kinda weather is a rainy day
And it's rainin' in LA
"Hi Harry!" Looking up, he sees his ex, albeit of no bad blood really. Her fiery red hair reminded him too much of his mother, really the only thing missing are emerald green eyes and she would've been an exact replica. He smiled up to greet her a good morning before going back to his sad breakfast. His magic felt more attune now, and it's itching to be used. Letting out waves of pulsing magic, he cracked his neck in relief. Too much unused magic felt constricting and stiff, and he found that just letting it seep out helps the tension. Feeling a sudden tendril of magic that proceeds to twist around the magic he was letting leak, Harry looks up curiously as someone walks up along the aisle, searching for whoever's magic is entangling with his.
You said,"Letsdrive, I wannatake you to my favorite place
Andit's not that far away"
Daphne Greengrass, her platinum blonde hair was practically glowing throughout the melancholy of the great hall. Given the moniker, the Ice Queen of Slytherin, everyone saw a side of her no one knew about during the Battle of Hogwarts. Her ice magic had safeguarded the hospital wing from any death eater and her ice clear spell saved dozens of lives, basically a dittany alternative formulated from her own magic. Her eyes were glowing ice blue, her walk relaxed but with the grace of a doe. Her lithe form, the curves in all the right places, was to die for, and her steps ended right in front of the Golden Boy of Gryffindor. Harry felt his heart skip a beat, maybe 2, maybe even a third, and everyone's voices died down. The tension was thick in the great hall, almost as if the latent magicks within the walls of the castle was responding to the two now staring at each other.
"I didn't know you knew each other?" Hermione, who for once had her bushy head out of an old tome about some discreet magic, piped up as Harry and Daphne regarded each other with respect.
I know you're afraid of jumping in too fast
Because your heart is still healing
It'd be a shame to waste the chemistry we have
So let's stay in the feeling, and
"Ah yeah, she's asked me for some help in DADD during the start of the year, and I in turn asked for help on NEWTs level arithmancy and runes." Harry responded as he stood up to offer a seat to Daphne.
"Oh, why didn't you ask for my help?" she responded dejectedly.
"You just seemed so swamped with your studies and headgirl duties, I didn't want to burden you further, plus meeting Daphne was all by chance. Right Daph?" Harry had said before gesturing over to the blonde. Said blonde just smirked haughtily, and had a hand to her waist.
"You also asked for help with politics and if I remember dance classes. Tsk tsk, you'd be so lost without me Potter." Daphne smirked teasingly. To say that everyone was shocked at the laidback tone adapted by the Ice Queen would've been an understatement.
Even if it doesn't work out
Even if it doesn't make sense
And you never see me again
Can we just be happy now?
Even if we burn this down
Even if we can't be friends
'Cause you hate me in the end
Can we just be happy now?
"Anyways, I'd like to get the show on the road, Potter, you did ask for help from me, and I would prefer not to miss too many classes this morning. We'll be back before lunch, hopefully, Professor McGonagal. Just some house matters." McGonagal had approached the small gathering and nodded at the request. The implication quickly settled in. Ron, who was mid bite through his sausage, choked and gagged at the insinuated family matters.
"F-family matters? But Potters and Greengrasses have never been known to be allied at any point before. No offense of course Greengrass, but isn't this a bit too fast?" Ron sputtered.
"Tut tut, that's before now. Don't worry Weasley. I swear Harry isn't dosed with anything." Daphne winked. Harry had already wrapped around to stand beside the girl, ready to escort.
My heart is beggin' not to let my head get in the way
And I think you feel the same
Scared I might be falling for you way too fast
Because my heart is still healing
But how can I say no when you've been
Lookin' at me like that
So let's not, overthink and
"It might be too fast, but it's like magic says otherwise." Harry offered his arm, and Daphne linked hers.
"Mr. Potter, Ms. Greengrass. I'd like to think that this magic has already decided for this to occur. Wouldn't you agree, Mr. Potter?" The eyes of Dumbledore, as he sat at the head of the table, twinkled in recognition of their magic recognizing each other, as if they had been two halves kept apart.
Even if it doesn't work out
Even if it doesn't make sense
And you never see me again
Can we just be happy now?
Even if we burn this down
Even if we can't be friends
'Cause you hate me in the end
Can we just be happy?
Harry stared into the eyes of the girl on his side. He was never more sure than this, and once in his life, he wanted to be on the reins.
And all that I know
Is here in this moment
Sun is still settin'
Over the ocean
And you're still kissin' me, so
Can we just be happy?
Here in this light
The green in your eyes
Is all that I see
Right where I wanna be, so
Can we just be happy now?
Daphne smiled back, even though she was scared of what was to come, she has never been so sure. It's like their magic just became a part of each other. Maybe it was when he melted the facade she wore. Or maybe it was when she tamed the fire in him. They weren't so sure. It just felt right.
Can we, can we, can we be happy now?
(Happy now, happy now)
"I'd like to think so too, Professor. We'll be back in a few hours. Need to discuss stuff with the goblins." Harry turned both him and Daphne around before walking leisurely out the still quiet great hall. It was when the doors closed behind them when pandemonium broke loose.
Even if it doesn't work out
Even if it doesn't make sense
Can we just be happy now?
Even if we burn this down
And we can't be friends
Can we just be happy?
"Are we sure about this, Harry? I know it's an old marriage contract, but we can still find a way out of it? I know you hate having your choice taken from you." Daphne abruptly said as they were heading out the gates, Harry being forced to stop as she stood her ground.
Even if it doesn't work out
Even if it doesn't make sense
And you never see me again
Can we just be happy now?
Even if we burn this down
Even if we can't be friends
'Cause you hate me in the end
Can we just be happy?
Harry smiled at her lovingly, pushing a strand of her hair away from her worried face. She was unsure, that he knew. They were both unsure.
"I've never been more sure. Spending this year with you has made me realize how important you are, and I wouldn't have had it any other way."
And all that I know
Is here in this moment
Sun is still settin'
Over the ocean
And you're still kissin' me, so
Can we just be happy?
Here in this light
The green in your eyes
Is all that I see
Right where I wanna be, so
Can we just be happy now?
