A/N: This one is kind of long, I've tried to cover season 3, episode 9, 10 11 here. I'm not entirely confident with this chapter.

Chapter Eleven: Jealousy

Sam's POV:

They had got back from a night at Shark Pool, Andrew had been flirting with her the whole night and Sam hadn't stopped him. He seemed to be impressed when she recognised Tim Beckett pretending to be a nobody called; Jim Scully. The way Andrew touched her was awkward and messy, it was nothing like the way, Peter used to be with her. Peter had always seemed confident, passionate and sweet. There had been fireworks with Peter but she didn't feel any fireworks with Andrew. Andrew was kind of a dork, he definitely wasn't her usual type. She'd never thought she really had a type until she had met Peter. Peter stood out, kind of like she did. They were interested in the same music, they had a similar sense of style and well those feelings she'd been trying to push down were still there. She told herself that she needed a distraction, she needed to find a way to replace those feelings and she felt kind of guilty about considering Andrew. She knew it was only a matter of time before he would get hurt, she didn't want to hurt anyone but she was lonely and Andrew was the kind of man that she thought she should be with. He was age appropriate, for a start. Her mother had always advised her to date an older man because they were more mature and Andrew was that, more mature.

In fact he was so mature, he was almost too mature. She wanted to give him a chance because maybe she would be surprised? His kisses didn't make her feel excited, or make her want more but it was the beginning and maybe their kisses would get better? When he fell asleep next to her in his bed she didn't hesitate to leave the room, she'd much rather sleep alone and in her own bed but of course the next morning he took offence go that.

Sam didn't get it, he seemed to take offence to everything she did or said so easily. It wasn't something she was used to, Peter had always understood her and seemed to know her every thought, and much to her dismay he still did. She missed that, she knew she didn't have that with Andrew.

As Sam got into her own bed that night, Sam thought about last week with Peter , she had wanted to help him with the things going on with his dad, she'd stuck up for him when his dad had given him a hard time for turning him into the police and she'd acted on auto pilot. Even now, after everything she still couldn't bare to see Peter so lost and hurt but now she could see that it was her doing the hurting, he'd found out about her relationship with Andrew and it was obvious that he was upset. Andrew had found out about her past with Peter and it was if his feelings didn't matter to her, not as much as Peter's feelings did. Maybe she was just kidding herself that this thing with Andrew would ever work?

Andrew liked her, he was sweet but also very clearly jealous of her past and she supposed he probably had every right to be but things with Peter were truly over, there was nothing going on with them anymore. They hadn't been together like that in such a long time but she knew that she would always care about him and want great things for him and she hoped that she could keep it at just that.

Rivers POV:

Peter figured it out pretty quickly, his fears had come true and Sam was now dating Mr Bell. He was angry and jealous and he couldn't understand what she saw in him, how could she go from being with him to being with an arrogant dork like Mr Bell? Jodie didn't see what he did, she had said that they seemed to really like each other but Peter knew better, there was no way that he would last with Sam but that didn't stop him from being hurt and jealous, he was so in love with, Sam that the idea of spending another day without seeing her beautiful smile felt like a tragedy. He hadn't been able to be with anyone else after, Sam because every time someone came along he felt wrong, like it could never be right for him to be with someone else. It seemed that every time he turned a corner at school, there they were being suffocating, almost like Sam was trying to hard too make it work with Andrew. Like she was trying to prove something to herself and to him. He hated that he had to see them both at school everyday, there was no way that he could see himself respecting Mr Bell now. He hadn't liked him to start off with and now, Peter knew why.

Steve found him writing poetry in the attic and he couldn't lie, it was all about Sam, about the way she used to make him feel, how he felt now that they were apart, how he felt seeing her together with Mr Bell. It was like torture, seeing her everyday and knowing that she wasn't with him, she was with the dorky and impossible science teacher. Jodie had said that he should try to move on. That he'd feel better if he did and he wanted to feel better. He wanted to be with someone who cared about him, someone who wanted to be with him. That's why he went looking for Katarina.

She was going for the national dance company, he found her practicing in a classroom all by herself. She was good, really good. Katarina was happy to see him, they danced together and he thought, she's hot and fun. It would be so easy to be with her but he wasn't there for the right reasons and eventually, Katarina saw through that and told him to go. Peter felt a little bit guilty because he was using her, he wanted to make Sam jealous. He wanted her to know how it felt, he was feeling hurt and jealous everytime he caught a glimpse of them together and he hoped that she would feel the same way if she saw him with Katarina.

The next day was the day of the teachers strike, so Rivers and his friends went to Con's house for a party. Actually it wasn't supposed to be a party, Katarina had invited him over to look at some notes but he figured a last party would be fun for everyone, it was like depression central amongst the group lately. Con and Jodie were at odds due to Jodie going with another manager, Peter was down about Sam and Matt and Allie were fighting a lot considering they'd only just started dating.

Truth or Dare seemed like a great idea, everyone needed cheering up. It was also like the end of an era for them all, Jodie was planning on touring so she'd be moving out soon.

Sam

As Sam was getting ready to go protest that morning, she realised just how different she and Andrew really were. They didn't have the same values in life, they didn't really agree on much at all. He thought taking part in the teachers strike was pointless, he didn't see how much could be achieved from it. Not just for the teachers but also for the students. Sam was passionate and she cared about the students she taught, Andrew was just teaching because, well maybe he thought it was his last resort? The protest had gone well and now she had found herself at, Con Bordino's house. They'd had a party that had gone wrong because of party crashers, one of then had tried it on with her but she'd used one of her self defence moves on him and thanks to Effie, Rivers had escorted him out. That was when he'd been assaulted and got a pretty bad bump on the head.

Sam looked at Peter as he passed out and pulled him over to a quiet corner outside, she placed him between his legs and pressed down on his wound to try to make it better. Sam couldn't help but watch him breathing, and ran her fingers through his hair absentmindedly. He woke up slowly and smiled, it was nice having him there between her legs. She didn't feel like she was helping a student, more like she was caring for the man she loved.

When Peter had called her, Miss her heart had sunk. It was a change she hadn't expected to hurt so much. She took him home and spent the rest of the night talking about, Peter. It was if her mind couldn't come up with anything else to say and when Andrew picked up on it, she was defensive but of course he was exactly right.
