Chapter 4*

As the night drew to a close, Lucius and Rodolphus bade farewell to their guests, their home now quiet and calm. Rodolphus, visibly tired, rubbed his eyes and leaned against the wall, struggling to stay awake as he helped clear away the last remnants of the party. Emmy, noticing her father's exhaustion, tugged on Lucius's sleeve. "Mama, Dad is really tired."

Lucius turned to Rodolphus with a sympathetic smile. "Rod, go to bed, love. It's okay, we'll finish up here."

Rodolphus blinked, clearly reluctant to stop helping. "I'm okay," he insisted, though his weariness was evident. He continued to pick up trash, but his movements were slower, and his effort waned.

After they finished tidying up, Emmy and Adam took their baths, splashing around in the warm water before getting ready for bed. As they settled in, Lucius offered a comforting suggestion to Rodolphus. "Rod, come shower with me," he said gently.

Rodolphus nodded, too tired to argue, and followed Lucius into the bathroom. The hot water enveloped him, soothing his aching muscles as Lucius tenderly massaged his back. Rodolphus let out a contented hum. "So good, just like before," he chuckled, his body relaxing under the steady stream of water.

Lucius laughed softly. "I'll always be here to help. Let's get out and get some rest."

Once they were finished, Rodolphus slipped into bed wearing just a shirt, his body sinking into the soft mattress with a sigh of relief. Lucius joined him, his hand resting comfortingly on Rodolphus's hip. Rodolphus's exhaustion quickly took over, and he fell asleep almost instantly.

In the middle of the night, Emmy and Adam quietly crept into the room and climbed into bed, snuggling close to their father. Rodolphus stirred slightly, blinking open his eyes. "What are you two doing?" he whispered groggily.

"We couldn't sleep," Emmy whispered back, her voice barely audible.

Rodolphus murmured a sleepy response and adjusted his position to make room for them, holding his children close as he drifted back to sleep.

The next morning, Lucius awoke to find Emmy and Adam snuggled up against him. He frowned slightly, concern furrowing his brow. "Emmy, what happened?"

"Sorry, Mama," Emmy said, her voice still sleepy. "I had a bad dream, so Adam and I came to be with Dad."

Lucius's expression softened into a smile. "That's okay, baby. It's alright to come to us when you're scared."

Rodolphus, roused by the noise, groaned as he stretched out. "Please be quiet. Some of us are still trying to sleep here," he muttered, his voice thick with sleep.

Lucius chuckled softly, running a hand through Rodolphus's hair. "Sorry, love. I'll get the kids up and ready for the day."

Rodolphus grunted as he tried to sit up, his movements slow and labored. "Help me up, please. I feel like I've grown overnight," he said, patting his rounded stomach with a frustrated sigh. "Ugh."

Lucius extended a hand, helping Rodolphus to his feet. Rodolphus shuffled to the bathroom to get ready, his every step reflecting the weight of the pregnancy. Lucius busied himself with getting the kids dressed and preparing for the day ahead. As he finished, he found Rodolphus lounging on the couch, looking both exhausted and relieved to be off his feet.

The morning was filled with the familiar hum of family life as they prepared for the new day, their bond strengthened by the shared joy and challenges of their expanding family.

As the day unfolded, the family's attention turned to the much-anticipated Slytherin prank book. Rodolphus, feeling a bit more energized after breakfast, sat with Lucius, Abraxas, Harden, and Rabastan in the sunlit drawing room. The prank book lay on the coffee table, its pages begging to be explored.

Lucius glanced over at Rodolphus, a teasing smile playing on his lips. "You know, we could always take a trip down memory lane with this," he suggested, tapping the book's cover.

Rodolphus grinned, his eyes lighting up with excitement. "Only if we're ready for the consequences," he said, his hand resting protectively on his belly. "We've got to be careful now, especially with another little one on the way."

Harden, seated comfortably in an armchair, chuckled. "I've always been ready for a bit of chaos. What's life without a little mischief?"

Abraxas nodded in agreement, his expression thoughtful. "Indeed. Perhaps it's time we reminded the next generation of the great Slytherin tradition of pranks. It could be educational," he added with a wink.

Rabastan leaned forward, flipping open the book to a random page. "How about something simple to start with? We wouldn't want to get expelled before the baby's even born," he said, a hint of mischief in his voice.

Rodolphus laughed, shaking his head. "Let's just keep it light-hearted. I think we've had enough excitement for now," he said, his eyes drifting to Emmy and Adam, who were playing with their toys on the floor.

Lucius placed a hand on Rodolphus's shoulder, his touch warm and reassuring. "Don't worry, love. We'll keep things fun and safe. Besides, we've got to be good examples for these little ones," he said, nodding towards their children.

Rodolphus smiled, feeling a sense of peace settle over him. Despite the challenges and uncertainties of the future, he knew that with Lucius and their family by his side, they could face anything together. The prank book might bring a few laughs, but it was the love and bond they shared that truly mattered.

With that thought in mind, Rodolphus leaned back, his heart full as he watched his children play. The day might be filled with mischief and laughter, but it was the warmth of family that made everything worthwhile.
