(Okay, here's how I'm trying to come up with the laser tag idea. I'd like to thank Klonoa Waddle Dee on Fanfic for the idea, I hope I can exceed the expectations. All the voices for the new OCs are in their comment. Anyways, enjoy the chapter!)
It was Akio's birthday today, and Zeke got an invite to his laser tag birthday party. Wolf, Diane and Piranha came along, "So, why did you want to come along, Piranha?" Wolf asked.
"Oh easy! Me and Zeke always have fun at laser tag! Plus, no one beats this fish!" Piranha said.
"Oh yeah, I think Tío has the highest score at the place." Zeke explained, Wolf rolled his eyes in mild annoyance. Diane just chuckled, "So, how did that work for you, Piranha?"
"I wore a disguise just to play." He simply said, "Well, this'll be the first time you won't need a disguise, Tío Pepe." Zeke said, excited for his friend's birthday!
"Anyways, this is how Akio's living out his dream of being an intergalactic space captain." Zeke then said, "Wait, is that why he's wearing his hoodie like a cape all the time?" Wolf asked.
(Later)
"Von Genbu, my trusted Lieutenant!" Akio said in sign language. "I'm happy you made it!" The two of them fist-bumped, as Zeke put his present on the table. "Wait, if Zeke is the Lieutenant, then what's that make me?" Ari asked.
Akio then signed, "You'd be the tactician, Ari." Marshall straightened his glasses, "And me?" He asked.
"You—Marshall—are the mercenary for hire!" Akio then explained. Marshall was stunned at that, "Hey, what does that mean? Why am I 'for hire'?" The ferret then asked, questioning what that necessarily meant in this case with the three of them giggling.
"I'm just kidding, you'll be our scout when we play." Akio then said. Marshall then nodded, "Okay then, cool." "Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Hayashi!" Diane said, "Hi, Ms. Foxington, it's great to see you." Kazuto said. "Hi, Mr. Wolf." Wolf looked cheerful, trying to seem a bit more friendly. Lest he endured a bit of distrust like last time.
"Glad to be invited, Mr. H. It's great to see you, too." he said to them, "Oh, who's your friend?" He asked, "This is Piranha, he used to come here all the time." Wolf explained. "Hola, amigos! Feliz Cumpleaños a tu hijo!" Piranha said, cheerfully. "When you said you had a strong uncle, I kinda imagined he would be huge and on steroids." Marshall said, "You think he's our fifth teammate when we go into the game?" Ari sensed a wildness in Piranha. That would be pretty difficult to manage, "No, that's going to our sharpshooter." Akio said, as someone else stepped in.
A skunk boy wearing a blue shirt as his parents came in. "Uh…is that the sharpshooter?" Akio looked annoyed.
"No…that's Rowan." he said in sign language, but he had an annoyed look on his face. "Akio Hayashi! My cuzzo from the side of my motho!" He said, happily.
"'Great to see you' I'm guessing is what you shouted?" He asked, sarcastically shown. Rowan started translating for him, "Why so unhappy to see me? It's my cousin's birthday, after all." Rowan asked, "Guys, let's just go…" Akio said, "Why? It's your cousin, right?" Zeke asked, "Yeah, but every time he shows up for my birthday here—"
"I and my squad beat him at laser tag year after year he could play." Rowan said, "Rowan Ishikawa! This is my squad…"
A team of other kids followed suit behind him, "This is Bertie." A dolphin waved, "Wassup, you guys? Listen, no hard feelings 'bout who wins, yeah?", Zeke smiled, "Huh, it's weird how he reminds me so much of Perrito from school." Zeke said to his friend, "Ohhh…" Was all Akio said, now seeing the comparison. "Oh, is the sharpshooter Perrito?" Zeke then asked, Akio shook his head no. "Nah, he's visiting family somewhere." Akio said.
"I'm Cassandra." A panda girl said, "Know that the battlefield will be aggressive and dangerous, peasants!" She said to them, aggressively! Ari just smirked, "Oh, the loose cannon." She said, "What did you just say to me?!" She said.
"Cass! Cass! Calm it down…" Rowan then said, trying to calm his friend down.
"'Sup y'all, I'm Pierce." A rooster then said, not staring up from his phone. "Cool, how 'bout you say that to us instead of to your phone?" Marshall then looked up and said: "Huh? …Oh yeah, good point." Pierce then said, "Hi, I'm Pierce." He introduced himself again.
"So, this is Akio's squad then? Cool, good luck out there." He then said, kinda backing away. "And finally, our final teammate, this is Troy." The blue jay stood there and said nothing, a simple wave.
Zeke, Ari and Marshall felt chills as he didn't look friendly, "Don't let him intimidate you, he's just lacks communicative skills." Akio said.
"Oh yeah, before we commence your tragic defeat, Akio…Guys, all together."
"Happy Birthday!"
They all said together, "Thanks, you guys." Akio then said. He chose to sidebar with Zeke for a quick moment.
"Real quick, I don't have to worry about your other uncles coming in for the cake, do I?" Akio asked, "Nah." Zeke said. "Hey, you guys!" A familiar voice said as Zeke saw Liv walking toward them, "Hey, Liv. You made it!" Akio said, happily. "Happy Birthday, Akio! Hi, Zeke!" She said, cheerfully. "Hey, Liv! So, she's the sharpshooter?" Zeke said, Akio nodded his head.
"Oh, hi! I'm Ari!" Ari introduced herself, bringing Marshall to her. "Hi, my name's Marshall." He said, "Nice to meet you, I'm Liv!" The coyote girl introduced herself, "You guys are the ones these two met in juvie, then?" She asked. "Yeah, and now that you're here, Liv, we have our full team assembled." Akio explained. "All right then! Rupurudu!" Zeke looked slightly confused. "Uh…Wait, you play video games?!" He asked, Ari just laughed, "What?" She asked. Marshall just sighed in embarrassment.
Liv looked at him, weirded out. "What? This better not be because I'm a girl."
Zeke swear dropped, "No, it's mostly because you didn't strike as someone who played." He then said. "Hey, what's that supposed to mean?"
"S-Sorry." Zeke apologized. "Wow, Wolfy, you're bad at this!" Ari then said. Liv then said, "Wait, so you know what Klonoa is, then?"
"Yeah, I've heard of it—"
Wolf and Diane looked on, "Is that the girl you and the kids keep talking about?" Wolf asked, still curious about if his son had a crush on this girl. "Yes. She's cute, right?" Diane asked, "Well, she seems nice. Still, don't you think Zekey's a little too young to date right now?" Wolf asked, "Espera, espera, espera, ¡¿qué?!" Piranha asked, "Of course, but it's fun to tease him sometimes." Diane then said. "Mi sobrino can't get a girlfriend, he'll get the cooties!" Piranha said, ever so childishly. "You don't even know what cooties is, hermano." Wolf said.
"Well, I know that girls have it." Piranha said. "Um, Piranha?" Diane looked slightly annoyed by that comment. "O-Oh…My bad, I'm sorry." He then said.
(Later)
The Laser-War remained partially stressful, as both teams were fighting for their victory. "Ari, what's the plan?" Liv asked, "Okay, Bertie's handling offense!" Ari said, Akio analyzing his surroundings of the other team. "I have you in my sights, Mikhail!" Cassandra said, as she continued to try and shoot Marshall. "That's not even my name!" He then said.
"You think you've got it bad? She called me Zane!" Zeke then said as he continued to run for cover.
"Woohoo! This is fun, right guys?" Bertie tried to shoot his laser gun at Zeke's jacket, Akio used his hoodie to block the shot.
"Hey, that was pretty clever!" Bertie started complimenting Akio's strategy.
"Bertie, fighting you is weird!" Zeke then said, as they managed to escape.
Liv and Ari tried to deal with Rowan and Pierce attacking them from the rear, "'Sup, ladies?" Pierce said, with a bit of flirtation in his voice and with a wink.
Ari smirked, the rooster let his guard down, "Gotcha!" She shot her laser gun at Pierce's jacket and it tagged him out.
"Liv, come on!" She quick pushed Rowan's gun down to make sure he didn't get either of them out.
"What—Hey! Dang it, Pierce." Rowan said, unhappy his teammate was out.
"What? It's not my fault those girls were digging my style."
"Yeah, I can tell by how they got you out!" Rowan then said, "No worries, we'll still get our winning streak fulfilled." Rowan tried to hold his sense of optimism.
"I set myself up, so I gotta try to beat Akio…" Rowan thought to himself, "Rendezvous with Cass, we need to buy some time!" Rowan shouted to his teammates.
Ari decided they should have a strategic temporary retreat. They kept moving from glowing wall to glowing wall.
"Okay, so how we handling this?" Liv asked, "We won't stay long, we need to catch them off guard. Akio, I'll take down Troy's offense." Ari said, "Mar-Mar, once Zeke and Liv give you an opening, you snipe Bertie once he's in position."
Akio then proceeded to explain to Zeke and Liv, "You two will need to distract Catrina so Bertie's left with no backup." The raccoon explained, deliberately getting her name wrong.
Zeke and Liv nodded, "I'll use this as a chance to get her out." Liv said, "Might be too much of a risk." Zeke then said. Akio smirked, "That leaves the battle between Rowan and me."
(Meanwhile)
"Okay, Pierce is down, but we can still win this!" Rowan said, "Wait, how?" Bertie asked, "He was flirting with the girls, and it left him vulnerable. Not to worry, I'm sure we can counter any strategy that they're going for." Rowan said.
"Troy, I need you to go after that Liv girl. She's been giving us trouble the entire game. If that blue bunny's there as back up, lead them to Bertie to tag-team." Troy simply nodded, "Bertie, take the stealth advantage, while Cass continues to cover you." Bertie smiled, "Yes-sirski!" He said, excitedly. "Understood, I shall cover our competitive spirit! Those weirdos do not stand a chance!" Cass said. "Leave my cousin to me: It's always fate when we play laser-tag!" Rowan said.
(Akio's perspective)
The space captain readied himself, his trusted blaster clutched in his paws. "Hello there, cousin. I'm so sorry it has to end this way for you." Rowan then said, "No you're not." Akio then said.
"Now then, let our final showdown commence!" Rowan shot a laser that Akio had blocked with his hoodie. "Hiding behind a cape won't help you, kid." Rowan took as many shots.
Akio could not care less about whatever comebacks his cousin could make. This year, he's gonna win laser tag! "You think I'm gonna let you win this year? Just cuz it's YOUR birthday?" Rowan said, "As if! I will be declared Space-Captain, Akio!" They began shooting their lasers at each other.
"Except, there's one thing he didn't think about…" Akio thought to himself. He threw his cape at his opponent, Rowan was caught off guard. "What?! A real space captain wouldn't use his cape as a tool."
Akio went in and fired the laser shot, he managed to get Rowan out! "And a real space captain never gives up!"
"The game's not over yet, though, Rowan. We still gotta get the rest of the team out."
(Later)
"Happy Birthday, Dear Akio
Happy Birthday to you!" Everyone sang for Akio's birthday. He was turning 11 years old today. "Kinda wish I could still hear the song." He thought to himself, before blowing out his birthday candles. Zeke and his friends clapped for their friends! "Sucks that I can't show off my singing voice." Piranha then said, remembering the birthday boy is deaf. "No pasa nada, Tío Pepe." Zeke said, "Yes, I'm sure it would be incredible from what we heard about from Diane and Mr. Wolf." Mrs. Hayashi said to him, "Akio!"
The adults turned to the older kids that played the game with the birthday boy and his friends.
"I'll be back, Hayashi. I'll be next year's space captain."
Akio smirked, "Better train hard, then." He said in signs. Akio's parents slightly chuckled. "Also, blue rabbit!" Rowan said, pointing at Zeke and then at Piranha, "That weird fish uncle of yours is wild! How was that fool even able to play?!" Rowan said.
"D-Did, he just call me a fool?" Piranha tried to lunge at Rowan! "Hey, maybe DON'T antagonize my Tío who likes the thrill of fighting?" Zeke said, trying to hold his uncle back.
"Zekey, ¡dejarme ir! ¡No soy un tonto!" Piranha was angry, taking the comment too personally.
Wolf tried to grab Piranha from his son, "Sorry about Piranha, he's…still getting used to this." Wolf apologized on his friend's behalf.
"A-Anyways, how'd your fish uncle manage to get us all single-handedly in the second game?" Cass then said, "That's easy, Tío Pepe's the former laser tag space captain."
Marshall cleaned his glasses, "I actually think he'd be more like an intergalactic space pirate." Marshall suggested.
"Guess the returning champion needed to make people remember him somehow." Ari then said, as she pulled a present towards her friend.
"Anyways…How 'bout we leave the rivalry on hold and Akio can open his presents?" Ari asked.
"Good idea, Akio, open up mine first, please?" Liv asked.
(All right. I hope this'll do for a laser tag party, right? I hope I've made the personalities to Klonoa Waddle Dee's liking, even if it probably wasn't what they were expecting. Anyone up for karaoke in the next one, I'm coming up with an idea for that later. Anyways, stay strong and awesome! Remember that Jesus is The Way!)
