Chapter 17: An Unlikely Alliance, United Against a Common Enemy
After spending another horrible hour of shopping, Colette dragged Danny to the steak house she mentioned earlier.
It was a very fancy, 5 star one that required a dress code. Danny was forced to wear the suit and tie that Colette had just purchased for him, while the spoiled brat continued to nag and pester her boyfriend".
"Order anything you like, Darling, I understand that it is not often someone of your status can be in such an elegant place like this, but I am more than happy to treat you..."Colette said, thinking she was being kind but she was just being condescending.
Danny rolled his eyes.
"Gee, thanks..." He muttered sarcastically as he looked at the menu.
He wanted to order a salad, since it was the cheapest thing on the menu and he didn't have much of an appetite right now but Colette refused.
"Oh, non, non, non, non, non. That will never do..." Colette said, as she turned to the waiter.
"He will have filet minion, medium rare, with a side of caviar, a side of foie gras and diet ice tea. I shall have the exact same order as well. For appetizers, we shall both have zee canapes here..." Colette said as she pointed at her menu, irritating the ghost boy even more.
"Really? You're not even letting me order what I want from the menu..." Danny said, annoyed that she immediately did the contrary of what she said moments ago.
"I am only trying to expose you to finer cuisine. You will thank me once you taste how much more superior high class food is..." Colette said in a snobby way, while the waiter wrote down their orders.
"I'd rather be served Fifi's leftovers than eat whatever you're offering..." Danny thought, hating this.
"Trust me, you will enjoy this finer quality of food..." Colette said, still being dominering.
"I think I'd enjoy it more if I had better company..." Danny muttered under his breath, with an unamused look on his face.
Soon, the waiter brought their appetizers and the spoiled girl kept being a pain in the neck to the ghost boy.
"You also should learn to enjoy such cuisine your family couldn't afford..." Colette said, being snobby again.
"Hard to enjoy things when you're blackmailing me..." Danny muttered under his breath again.
"What was that, Mon Amore?..." Colette asked, having not heard that clearly.
"Nothing..." Danny said, refusing to meet her eyes.
His would-be-girlfriend frowned at his attitude and what she deemed bad manners.
"You should not mumble your words, Darling. And don't slouch, it's uncouth. Sit up straight!..." Colette nagged, as she placed a napkin on her lap before taking a knife and slowly carving her one of her appetizers.
Danny glared at her, but held his tongue this time.
"What I'd give for Fright Knight to use the soul shredder on me right now. Being trapped in a dimension of my worst fear sounds way more fun than this!..." He thought bitterly, almost wishing his enemies would show up to attack him right now.
Unknown to the ghost boy, a familiar face who had just stepped out of the kitchen, saw him and gasped.
"Danny?! No way?! What is he doing?!..." The guy exclaimed, as he couldn't believe any of this.
He was here because a friend of his got sick and asked him to cover his shift. Christopher was gonna wait on tables, despite hating everything about this steakhouse but he also needed the money.
He spotted Danny, on what seemed to be on a date with Colette of all people and realized something was wrong.
"I gotta see what's going on..." He thought, not liking this.
He quickly grabbed a pair of sun glasses and a baseball cap, making a simple makeshift disguise. He then went near their table, acting like he was taking orders to listen in on what they are talking about.
"Look at me!..." Colette said in a bossy way, unaware that they were being eavesdropped.
"Like I had a choice..." Danny said, making her frown.
"I had to make the choice for you..." Colette said in a controlling way, as she drank her glass of ice tea with her pinkie finger standing out.
"Only because of what you did..." Danny said bitterly, which made Christopher raise a brow at that.
"What the heck does that mean?..."He wondered.
"You'll learn to forget that and realize we're soulmates..." Colette insisted.
"I'd sooner let a gorilla go out with me than you. Especially after what you made me do..." Danny said under his breath in a low tone Colette didn't hear, but Christopher did hear it and was shocked.
"Okay, that doesn't sound weird..." The blonde guy thought sarcastically, scratching his chin.
He continued doing his part-time job that he didn't like, and discreetly heard more of this weird conversation. He even recorded some of it on a tape recorder (which he kept for emergencies) when he noticed it was heading to a weird direction.
After hearing enough, Christopher discreetly went to take the order to the chef, while pondering what he overheard.
"Something really stinks around here, and I'm not taking about the dead animal flesh from the meat locker. I gotta let Star or Sam know..." He thought, trying to make his way out.
"Morgan! Your turn for dish washing!..." His manager called out.
"Okay, this first, then call..." He said under his breath, as he grabbed a pair of rubber gloves, since he didn't even want to touch any leftover meat that some customers haven't even finished.
"So wasteful..." He thought in disapproval, as since some customers didn't finish their meals.
All the while, he'll keep an eye on the two, knowing that something VERY WRONG was happening.
Meanwhile
Team Phantom, alongside Misty, were all currently in Jazz's room, trying to think of a way to hold Colette accountable for her actions once and for all.
"So, any ideas? And can your response be a yes?..." Star asked, wanting to take action.
"Unless I can get away with turning her into a worm, I don't see how I'm of much help!..." Misty said, sounding furious.
"Keep looking..." Jazz said, as she kept reading through Misty's scrolls.
"Actually, I don't have much of issue turning her into one right now..." Star said, while Sam nodded.
"The one time I'll might even consider go fishing ..." The goth girl said, while the sorceress kept reading.
"Stop joking around, guys. As fun and cathartic as that might sound, there's no possible way that we could get away with that! Sure, I may be the only here who can do it but I'm trying to AVOID relapsing into using magic for bad things again!..." Misty said, feeling like she's the only one who recalls they can't hurt Colette.
"Plus, let's face it...no fish or bird on earth would ever consider eating that kind of worm..."She added.
"True, they !ight get food poisoning for how rotten she is..." Star admitted, feeling more sorry for whatever would eat her.
"Point taken..." Sam said.
"I know that we shouldn't want that, but what else can we do?! She's clearly too dangerous to have around!..." Jazz commented, trying to hold in her anger.
She needed to be level headed, for her brother's sake.
"We need to get that wrench away from Danny! I refuse to someday call Colette my sister-in-law someday! Or any day for that matter!..."She added, quickly.
"Speaking for your parents, I doubt they would want to call that menace their daughter-in-law..." Tucker said dryly.
"But let's not think of the worse case scenario for Danny, let's think about the only way we'll free him and get our payback on Colette!..." He said.
"Oh, I'm already thinking of ways to get even with her and free my boo!..." Star said coldly, as she cracked her knuckles.
"I'm going to break her teeth one by one and then I'll give her a black eye and rip her fake red hair out of that ugly head of hers!..."She said, her aura of rage almost visible right now.
"That's a pleasant mental image, but don't hog all the fun, we need payback too!..." Sam said, also cracking her knuckles.
"So glad that I chose to give up on Danny..." Misty thought, intimidated by their anger.
"Let's put all revenge schemes on hold for the moment .First things first, we got to free Danny from Colette's claws, then we can all take turns hurting that menace..." She said, as she continued to look through her spell book.
"Fine but I get first dibs..." Star said. "I'm not about to let her get away with framing us and taking my boyfriend just because she can't accept no for an answer!..." She said, wanting to make her pay.
"Have you found anything that can help us Misty?..." Valerie asked.
"Like I said, I found a few spells that could help us, like a spell to force someone to tell the truth or to make them sleep for days, but I would need some time to cast them and even then there are a lot of atmospheric conditions to take into consideration. Not to mention a lot of the ingredients are super rare and I wouldn't even know where to find a few others..." Misty said, looking frustrated.
"So, what sort of ingredients are we talking about, here?..." Jazz asked.
"Dragon claws, yeti saliva, octopus tentacles, scales of a pirahnna, to name a few..." Misty replied, making everyone in the room groaned.
"Figures..." Sam muttered under her breath. "We just can't get a break, can we?..." She asked out loud.
"Ditto on that. Just once I wish we could have it easy..." Tucker agreed.
Geez, what's with the long faces?..." A new voice asked dryly.
Everyone turned around to look for the owner of the voice, only to find Ember standing in the frame of Jazz's door.
"EMBER!..." They all yelled out in unison.
"Yeah, that's me..." The ghost diva said dryly, as she floated inside.
Valerie, Jazz, Tucker, Sam and Star got some ecto-weapon, all pointing at the ghostly diva but she didn't care.
Misty just stood there in shock, but the diva didn't even seem to notice her, her focus being more on Star.
"Normally I'd enjoy people saying my name, but right now I have some questions about Baby-pop and the only people that can give me any answers are his loser squad..." She said.
"Whatever you want with Danny, you can just scram Ember! Right now I have more important things to worry about than you!..." Star said darkly, ready to take her misplaced aggression out on her.
Ember simply rolled her eyes but nevertheless raised her arms in surrender.
"Look, I come in peace..this time..." She said, while they sent distrusting looks.
"I simply want to know why Baby-Pop is hanging out with that fake redhead parasite rather than with you, because last I checked, he hates her just like everyone else in this room does..." Ember said.
The girls and Tucker lowered their weapons.
"You saw Danny?..." Star asked.
"I did..." Ember nodded.
"And he didn't look happy being paraded around like some sort of cheap trophy owned by the world's biggest pain in the butt..." Ember said.
Star's blood began to boil, hating the fact that her Danny-Boo was at the mercy of her hated stepsister.
Before she could ask any questions, Misty seemed to snap out of her shock.
"Ember McLain?!..."Misty said in awe, before she realized something. "You're a ghost?!..."She asked, while the diva raised a brow.
"Who is this?..." Ember asked, raising an eyebrow while pointing at the young sorceress.
"Misty. She's new..." Valerie replied, still glaring at the evil ghost diva.
"And not that is any of your business but right now we got bigger fish to fry than you, so do yourself a favor Ember and scram before we make you!..." Star said, since she was already angry and stressed as it is.
"I'm guessing by fish you meant that menace with the lousy dye job..." Ember said, making Star quiet for a moment.
"Normally, I wouldn't care what that witch does with her free time, but when Baby-Pop is with her, you can't exactly blame me for being curious. I'd ask him but you can tell why that'd be a bad idea since it doesn't seem he'll have a chance to answer..." She explained.
"She knows..." Star said, gritting her teeth.
"Come again?..." Ember asked, while the blonde girl got angrier.
"I said she knows Danny is Phantom!..." The blonde exploded angrily, her face red and fists shaking.
"She somehow found out Danny's secret identity and now she blackmailing him into dating her!..." She said, looking ready to hit something.
Ember's jaw dropped, once she heard this.
"For real?!.." Ember said, not expecting this.
"Yes, for real! It's terrible! Not only is she framing us and ruining our lives, the best boyfriend I ever had is her slave now! And she's made us look like criminals to keep us from stopping her directly..." Star said, her anger mixing with sadness.
Star, on her part, was crying, she didn't care if her friends or enemies saw at the moment, she was just so distraught by the fact that her boyfriend's life was at the hand of Colette and was powerless to do anything about it.
Everyone in the room looked at the blonde sympathetically. After what felt like an eternity within a few seconds, Ember spoke up again, with an indescribable expression on her face.
"Now it all makes sense..."She said before nodding.
She floated towards Star with a determined look in ghost diva's eyes.
"I want in!..." She quickly stated without thinking.
"Say what now?..." Tucker asked, confused.
As were the others.
"I said that I want in..." Ember repeated evenly.
Team Phantom and Misty were silent now.
"Why?!..." Sam asked suspiciously. "Don't take it the wrong way Ember, but you're not exactly the type to do anything unless you expect to something out of this..." She added.
"And under normal circumstances, you would be right..." The singer sneered. "I got my reasons to want to help Babypop..." She said.
"You're hoping that if you help us out then you can still take him from me, aren't you?..." Star asked with an accusatory tone.
"I won't lie and say that thought didn't cross my mind..." Ember admitted, while the others glared at her.
Misty, however, was speechless too.
"SHE likes Danny too? Seriously?! I mean...I know he's a great guy but just how many girls are into him? I mean, there is me, Star, that brat, not to mention that goth and didn't Star mentioned he once dated Valerie here? Even if I gave him up, who else is into him?..." She wondered, but knew now is not the time for that
Ember continued explaining her reasoning for offering her help.
"But that was before seeing the amount of pain that brat is causing here! I saw the look on his face. He didn't even look that miserable when he was about to fight the ghost king, and he passed out after that. We might be enemies but I refuse to do something so vile. If I ever did win Baby-Pop's heart, I would want it to be because I actually managed to win him away from you, not by the use of blackmail. That's just pathetic..." She said.
"Excuse us if we don't believe you since you were the one who put Danny under a love spell when we first met just so he wouldn't interfere with your world domination plan..." Sam said with her arms crossed."
"She did WHAT?!..." Star, Jazz, Misty and Valerie all exclaimed
"True, but I never made him go crazy over ME. Just you and it was suppose to wear off in a day or two tops..." Ember said.
"Could have let us know that before I had to do that awful thing to snap him out of it!..." Sam snapped, disgusted at what she did to break the spell.
"Okay, she put Danny under a love spell?! Towards you?! When?! And what did you do to snap him out of it?!..." Star asked.
"In order, it it was back when we first faced her, way before you and Danny got together and lastly, not telling. Just know it was something really, REALLY gross!..." Sam said with a shudder.
"I was there, and you guys really don't wanna know..." Tucker said, while they decided to take her word for it.
Sam continued to glare at Ember, still not believing she is being sincere.
"So again, what are you hoping to get out of this?..." She asked, while the diva sighed.
"Ok, fine, you want to know? Three things..." Ember replied, with three fingers raised.
"One, I want Baby-pop to fight me..." She said, surprising them.
"I'm sorry...What?..." Jazz asked, perplexed.
"If you must know, I was in the mall ready to do my next taking over the world scheme, expecting the Dipstick to come and do his hero thing but he never came and when I finally saw him, he couldn't do anything because that spoiled brat had him under her control, so I left to find some answers, hence why I'm here. Heck, half of the fun of my plans is knowing Phantom is going to be there to stop me, if he's not coming then, the thrill is gone and everything becomes easy, there's no fun in that..." Ember explained, arms crossed.
Jazz on her part was taking notes
"Interesting... Very interesting..." She said, annoying the others.
"Now it's not the time for that, Jazz!..." Sam said, annoyed.
This made the redhead hide her notebook and pencil behind her back with an awkward smile.
"Sorry..."She said sheepishly.
"What are the other two reasons?..." Valerie asked suspiciously.
The ghostly diva then turned to Star. Both were glaring at each other before she answered.
"I may not like you, but for whatever reason, Babypop really loves you..." Ember said honesty.
"Anyone has to be blind not to see that, and if the options are you or that little parasite, then I think I speak for everyone here when I say that you're a thousand times better than that witch!..." She said, sounding sincere.
The blonde girl didn't expect to hear this from her.
"Wow...uh thanks Ember..." Star said, surprised. "That must not have been easy for you to admit..." She said, striking a nerve in her.
"It wasn't!... Ember growled.
"But this isn't about me, like I said, if I did earn Danny's love someday if you two ever break up, I would rather earn it on good terms, not lies and trickery like someone that doesn't deserve his love is doing right now!..."She said, being serious.
"You mentioned a third reason..." Tucker commented.
"What was it?..." He asked.
"Revenge!..." Ember said coldly.
"I heard that little brat criticizing my music a while back. That parasite called my music elevator worthy at best! I'm not about to let her have a free pass on that! I want to break her face! So if you're all down with my offer, I'm willing to help to free Babypop from that monster..." She said.
Everyone in the room gazed at each other.
"Will you please give us a minute?..." Jazz asked, as they all huddled in a circle.
"So... What do you guys think?..." She asked.
"I don't trust her..." Sam said.
"Me neither..." Valerie nodded.
"Under normal circumstances I would agree. But we need all the help we can get and no offense to you, Misty, but you're magic is kind of limited at the moment..." Tucker said, annoying her.
"I know but like I keep telling you, I didn't write the rules of magic and I only had this stuff for less than a year!..." Misty said.
Right... right..." Tucker went, while the young sorceress sighed.
"Look, I know my word doesn't have much weight to you guys at the moment but Ember did say she hates Colette too. Granted, that's kind of par for the course for anyone who knows her, so maybe that's one reason to at least let her help us, let's not forget that Danny is counting on us..." Misty said, knowing that a lot is on the line here.
That did weigh on the rest of the teenagers, yet they were still unsure.
"She's an enemy..." Sam said.
"Yeah, but she hates Colette, and remember the old saying about "the enemy of my enemy is my friend"? At least, for now..."Jazz said, seeing Misty's point. "Plus, even Ghost X-...I mean Skulker's helped us earlier, how much help do you think we won't get out of Ember?..." She pointed out.
The members of Team Phantom thought it over.
"What do you think, Star?..." Tucker asked tentatively.
The blonde bit her lip, giving it some serious thought and consideration before she sighed in defeat.
"For the record, I don't like the idea of Ember being here, much less having her taking part in our rescue mission, especially since she has made it perfectly clear that she's interested in my Danny-boo.." Star said, drowning before she sighed.
"BUT, if she's telling us the truth of Danny being even MORE miserable than I thought, then I can't let Colette get away with this, I would never forgive myself if we all lose Danny..." She said.
They all somberly nodded, breaking the circle as they look at the ghostly diva, who raised an eyebrow at them expectantly.
"You can help..." Star said. "But let me make things perfectly clear between us. If you betray us, what we'll do to you will make Colette look like the lucky one!..." She warned.
"Fine, fine, keep your threats to yourself..." Ember said dismissively. "Now, care to tell me, what plan have you all got to free Baby-Pop from that spoiled brat?..." She asked.
"We are gonna go find all that footage Colette has on Danny and destroy it. Then we are gonna gather evidence of her crimes and possibly have Colette expelled from Casper High instead. But to do that we're going to track down any minions she might have and get rid of the evidence they have on him..." Star said, since she knew Colette was too lazy to do anything like tis on her own.
"Ember, we need you to start fighting Danny-boo and give him an excuse to be away from Colette. You can pick a fight with Danny, but only so you can let Danny know what we're up to and to keep him AWAY from that parasite. You can mess with Colette all you want before we can expose her..." Star said, hoping Ember doesn't go too far with either of them.
Ember smirked at that.
"Works for me, Blondie, I wouldn't mind messing with that brat. She reminds me too much of those spoiled princesses back when I was in school. Always hated them. Causing trouble to that fake redhead could be a little cathartic..." Ember said, as she imagined herself hurting Colette.
"Keep in mind this alliance is temporary, Ember. Once we have Danny back, it'll be business as usual and if I hear that you did anything to him yourself, I won't hold back..." Star warned
"Wouldn't have it any other way, Blondie..." Ember said, cracking her knuckles in anticipation.
"So deal?..." Star said, extending her arm out but glaring at her.
Ember smirked.
"Deal..." The diva said, as the two girls shook hands with noticeable tighten grips against each othe
That's when the phone went off.
"Oh man, what now?..." Star asked.
Sam then raised her cell phone and realized Christopher was the one calling her.
"Look who it, its Cris. What could he be calling me for?..."Sam said, not realizing that she was talking out loud.
"Christopher?..." Star whispered in shock, as Sam then answered.
"Hello? Chris? If this is about another protest rally meet up, now really isn't a good time for me at the moment..."Sam said, trying to be vague about her reasoning.
"Its not that, Sam. Look, I needed to speak with you. Anyway, are you with my cousin?..." He asked over the phone.
"Uh, yeah?..." Sam said.
"Put me on speaker..." He said quickly, as she did so.
"Hi...Christopher..." Star said, still a little award to talk to him.
"What's wrong?..."Sam asked, surprised to hear from him so suddenly right now.
"Everything. Look, I saw Danny at a restaurant where I was covering a shift for a friend..." He said.
"YOU SAW DANNY?!..." Star exclaimed, grabbing onto the phone now.
"Yeah, with that dyed witch. At first I thought he might have been two timing on you but as I eavesdropped, I realized that couldn't be the case. I didn't get the context, but I could tell he didn't want to be there. Look, this ain't any of my business...but I think it's only right to let you know that whatever is going on with Danny, it's one sided..."He said as he started fidgeting on the other side.
"Hold on a second, the tape recorders stuck in my pocket..." He said ."Got it..." He was heard, apparently pulling out a tape recorder.
"Tape recorder? How old school..." Tucker mocked, before violently shushed by everyone else.
Chris played a button, and played the recording he got of Danny and Colette.
The conversation from before played. This is what they heard.
"Non, non, Mon Amore. You are not using your fork and knife properly. Let me show you the right way..." Colette's voice was heard, sounding very controlling.
"Gee, thanks for showing me the "right" way to hold a fork..."Danny was heard, sounding sarcastic.
"Danny..." Star whispered, as they continued to listen.
"How can you not be enjoying what could possibly be the time of your life?..."Colette was heard again, being bossy.
"Maybe because you're forcing me to be here while threatening to ruin not just mine, all my loved ones lives..." Danny said bitterly, which made Christopher raise a brow at that.
"More like improving your life by getting you away from those riff-raffs..." Colette said, sounding like he's being ungrateful.
"Keep telling yourself that..." Danny responded, only for the sound of a light flick could be heard.
"Remember what I said, you better watch your attitude...or should I REMIND you what might happen if you do not treat your beautiful GIRLFRIEND the RIGHT way. Now apologize...or else?!..." She threatened in a low whisper.
There was silence for a moment, before one of them responded.
"I'm sorry..." Was the last thing Danny said, sounding miserable before the recording ended.
"I would have recorded more, but I couldn't risk getting caught. This was all I could get while being inconspicious..." Christopher said over the phone.
After everyone hear the recording, there was a moment of silence until everyone had their own unique reaction from hearing this info.
"Note to self, look into ways to make that spoiled wench wish that she was never born.." Sam grumbled, furious but someone was even madder than her.
Star suddenly punched a nearby wall, leaving visible cracks. She didn't notice or care, since she was too angry to even think right now.
"THAT RED HAIRED WITCH!..."Star said in anger but also slightly thankful that someone had kept an eye on them.
"Not cool..."Ember whispered before she got upset again.
"I don't know exactly what that witch has over him, but it has to be bad if he is going along with her nastiness..."He said.
"It is..." Star responded, still wanting to rip that witches hair out.
Once she had calmed down enough, she immediately apologized to Jazz for ruining one of her walls and promised to pay for the repairs later.
"I thought so. So, you knew?..." He asked.
"Yes, she's framed us for stuff we didn't do so she could blackmail him into dating her..." Star said, hating this.
"That sounds like something she'd do. What a witch..." Christopher said.
"You don't know the half of it..." Star said, before smiling slightly at the fact that her relative did this out of concern.
"Thank you, Christopher. This means a lot to me..."She said, before looking sad.
"Look...I...I've been wanting to talk to you...and..."She tried but he interrupted her.
"Look, whatever it is, it can wait. Go save your boyfriend first..."He said.
Star smiled and nodded.. her cousin was right.
Save Danny than deal with distant family related drama later..
Sam smiled too.
"Thanks Christopher, you were really helpful today..."She said, appreciating his help.
Christopher blushed at that but she could not see that over the phone. But it was still nice to hear a compliment from Sam nonetheless.
"Yeah, well...it was no problem. Anyway, gotta get back to my shift. Let me know if you guys want me to continue tailing on Danny and that witch...cause I could really use that excuse to get out of this shift anytime soon..."He said, keeping his voice down so his boss didn't hear him.
"Will let you know. Again, I owe you one..."Star answered.
"We all do..." Sam said.
"Of course, Sam. Laters..." Chris as he sounded happier after replying to Sam before hanging up.
Star noticed this and had a feeling she knew why.
"He is so into her..."She thought but Sam spoke up.
"I guess he's still got his issues..."Sam said, being oblivious.
"Clueless..."Star muttered under her breath.
"Whatever. Gotta get to Baby Pop. Ciao, babies..." Ember said as she made a vortex with her hair and disappeared.
"She's totally gonna hit on him, huh?..." Tucker said.
"Yeah... but I'd rather her be a rival than Colette..." Star said.
"I guess so..." Sam said.
The whole Team Phantom felt the same.
"Doesn't mean I won't personally extinguishing that flaming hairs of her if she gets too close with her mouth!..." Star said, hoping that Ember could buy them some time before Colette tries to make out with Danny.
Back with Danny
The ghost boy was having a MISERABLE time.
After lunch, Colette continued to drag him into one of her daily shopping routine that seemed endless.
Colette shopped all she wanted while dropping all of her mountain of shopping goods and purchases on Danny and ordering him not to let a single item fall from his grasp.
"Don't drop them, at least a quarter of them are for you, after all. All to help improve your look..." Colette ordered.
"How the heck does Stella not know that your shopping budgets makes student loans look like pocket change?!..." Danny asked, while still being his '"girlfriends" pack mule.

"Hey! Don't you dare talk about Star like that! Or her mom!..." Danny said, angry but his slave driver sent him a threatening glare
"Vatch your tone with how you speak to me Mon Amore, remember what I said earlier what will happen if you do not behave like a PROPER boyfriend..." Colette reminded.
"As for the other thing, it iz not liket that fool Stella or the diaper staining brat vill be a part of my family for much longer if moi or Papa can help it..." Colette explained.
"Wow, you just insulted a baby and I'm only mildly surprised that you stoop that low after everything you've done so far.." Danny said, disgusted with her.
"Plus, he's your brother..." He pointed out, angry that she'd throw verbal dirt at someone who didn't even do anything to her.
"Half brother..."Colette corrected.
"He possess have Bevier blood, but he's a mutt and an inferior member of my pure bred family in my eyes. The only good he is that he can run the family business, so I don't have to. As long as I get my share of the inheritance and stocks, I do not care if he came from space or Canada for that matter..."Colette said, being completely indifferent to her own younger half brother.
"That explains it..." Danny thought, furious that she would dare to say such a thing about her own baby brother.
"Come along, Mon Amore. You'll need a silk suit for my party..."Colette said.
"Why would I want to wear a whole suit made of silk?..." Danny thought, not looking before he was dragged into another store.
Colette was ignoring him as she forced him to trudge along, almost as if he was on a metaphorical leash.
After two more shops and a dozen more bags dumped on top of the pile, the ghost boy was nearing the breaking point of his patience and tolerance.
Unfortunately, it got worse as Colette sent him those eyes again.
"If you do not wish to continue shopping...perhaps we can do something else instead?..."She said with a flirtatious undertone.
" No, shopping is fine..."Danny said, knowing what she has in mind.
She just smirked.
"It is...but this will be better..." She said as she looked at him with poses sickness and desire.
"I can already feel my stomach about to empty itself after hearing that ..." Danny grumbled, as she wrapped her arms around him again.
Thankfully, Danny's ghost sense went off before her lips could meet his.
"I'm actually happy a ghost actually showed up when I desperately needed one to..." He thought, while Colette coughed as his ghost sense hit her face.
"Ugh, what kind of breathe spray was that?..." She complained, waving her hand in her face.
Just then, a blue fireball flew from the air, Danny pushed Colette out of the way by dropping all the stuff she made him carry on top of her.
"Mon Amore, you stained my dress!..." She yelled, not seeing yet that he saved her life.
"Oh come on, Baby Pop! If you'd let me blast the brat, she'd be on a one way trip to the Unworld right now/.." Ember complained.
"Don't know where that place is, but she'll probably just end up as a ghost and NEVER stop bothering me. Still, it never hurts to be optimistic..." Danny thought to himself.
Ember let her hair grow longer, the flames reaching Colette's purchases, setting them ablaze instantly.
"MY NEW DRESSES HAVE BEEN BURNED TO CINDERS! MON AMORE, GO DESTROY THAT PEST!..."Colette whined while Danny raise an eyebrow at her.
"Do you not understand what just happened?! You nearly got killed but I prevented that! You basically just got a second chance to live. You nearly got barbecued and you're more upset that your stuff got destroyed. I'm not completely sure how it works with this Unworld place she mentioned, but you sound like you belong there if you aren't careful..." Danny admitted, hopeful that this experience might just make her reconsider her recent actions.
"Maybe you'll take that as a wake up call to stop all of the insanity and turn your life around try to become a better person. Make amends with your family go to therapy..." He said, trying to remain optimistic and hope for a miracle.
She got a second chance at life. She could change. After all, it was thanks to Clockwork Danny got a second chance he was here instead of becoming THAT MONSTER.
Colette scoffed, clearly not taking what she was told serious in any way.
"Please Mon amore, don't take what those stupid ghosts said seriously. Someone as beautiful and pure as me must have made her spirit realize that won't ever reach the heights of beauty that I represent..."She said, her elitism thinking she was exempt from going the same afterlife as other people.
"Okay, I'm pretty sure that's not how it works..." Danny said, not being an expert on how this stuff worked.
So now the ghost boy decided to drop any misplaced hope of the fake redhead of ever changing for the better.
"Deal with her, make her pay! Literally! Pay for new dresses! These are ruined!..."Colette complained as Danny rolled his eyes with a tired groan.
"Look, she wants to blast you into ash! With fire and who knows what else! Do you want to sit here and talk about discuss about further or do you want to save your life?!..." Danny challenged, but Colette saw it as surface level proof of affection.
"Oh how gallant, Mon amour. Save me, we can't have our perfect life together in France if this witch harms a perfect hair on my head..."She says, kissing him on the cheek.
"Soap, I need so much soap!..." Danny thought grossed out.
He quickly went ghost and flew towards the sky while using his ecto-energy in his hand to burn any residue of Colette's lipstick from his cheek.
He then faced Ember, who sent him her usual half cocky/half flirty smirk.
"Been a while, Baby-Pop..." She said playfully, but the ghost boy didn't seem to mind for once.
"Wow, I'm actually almost happy to see you..." Danny said, making her smirk.
"Likewise Baby-Pop, but let's save the sweet talking for later and get down to business..." Ember said, satisfied to have him as she immediately tackled Danny through the clouds.
As they elevated quickly, Ember took advantage of the situation and planted a kiss on Danny's lips. To her surprise, he didn't respond in his usual manner.
He pushed her back, but not as roughly as before.
"Seriously?..." He asked, sounding slightly upset as he rubbed his lips but still didn't act as hostile as usual.
"Huh, you're not usually this... casual..." Ember said.
"Frankly, this washes off Colette. Saves me from boiling my lips..." Danny responded.
"Doesn't change the fact that I still love Star and she is the only girl I WANT to kiss..."He said quickly.
"Yeah, I got that feeling when she sent me to keep you distracted..." Ember said.
"Wait, Star sent you?!..." Danny asked, surprised to hear that.
"Long story short, I asked her what was going on, she told me, I offered to help keep you away from that brat while she tries to get rid of the dirt she has on you since I have my own reasons for keeping the fake redhead away..." Ember said.
"Wow...this is a second time today that an enemy of mine is willing to help me out. New record..." Danny said as she then sent a blast at him.
"Don't get too used to it. I'm doing this purely for my won benefit..." She said.
Ember then stopped above cloud level and fire off some random energy blast from her guitar, but didn't even hit Danny, which confused the ghost boy.
"Plus, I figure you'd want to kill some time... so let's hold back just so slightly so that overdressed Poodle down there can wait longer?..."Ember suggested.
"I'm actually fine with this. Being nearly hit by your guitar is still less painful than shopping with Colette!..." Danny responded, looking relieved by this arrangement.
The two continued their fighting, since anything was better than dealing with Colette.
