A different kind of wasteland

After traveling all over the remains of the ruined western and mid-western United States, an amnesiac prisoner pulls off another grand escape from the NCR Tibbets penitentiary and unexpectedly becomes the unlikely hero who stops a new plague from ravaging the wastelands. However, upon arriving back "home", he finds it to be vastly different from what he has ever known.
