Kirito's Log: Week 1 Friday - Spent time with the rest of team Team KAOZ.

"You've got to be kidding me."

Kirito didn't know what to think of the display in front of them. He had followed through with his promise to Alice and after class on the Friday of their first week at Beacon. Team KAOZ had headed into the city to get dinner together. Medina was initially reluctant but she seemed to be warming up to the team to the point where she agreed. After a short debate on where to go the group had settled on getting pizza. Which had led to the scene in front of him. While most of team KAOZ had picked up the pizza and began eating it normally. Medina, seemingly out of nowhere, pulled out a knife and fork, and began eating her pizza with them. It had taken a minute for everyone to realize but Kirito was the first one to do so and all he could do was stare in disbelief. He hadn't said anything at first. Maybe it was a common occurrence on Remnant, but then Eugeo had noticed it as well which had led to his confused exclamation.

Medina looked up from her food. Looking at them confused, "Is there a problem?" She asked as if she had no clue in the world as to what Eugeo found wrong with the situation. Alice simply covered her mouth to conceal her smile.

Eugeo just stared at her for a few seconds. A look of pure bewilderment on his face. Eventually he just sighed and looked down at his plate. "Nothing. Don't worry about it," he muttered.

Kirito just smiled at the interaction. Each member of team KAOZ had their quirks for sure. He had figured as much out during his first week of living with them. Medina, for example, was used to living her life as if she was in Atlas high society which had led to many scenarios such as the interaction that had just happened. Kirito figured that his team wasn't all that strange though. After all they were in the same year as team RWBY and he'd only heard of what they'd been up to in their first week. He'd hate to imagine how much of it wasn't exaggerated. The only thing he knew for sure wasn't exaggerated was that there was now a Yang shaped hole in one of the training rooms' walls. Glynda apparently hadn't been bothered to fix that one yet.

Team KAOZ ate comfortably in silence for a little while. The team just generally enjoying each other's company. Kirito was glad that since his chat with Medina the team had been getting along well. It was also helping in combat as well. There had been a team battle in combat class between themselves and team CRDL a couple of days ago. Cardin apparently wasn't all that happy with Kirito for his defeat and had challenged the whole team. Team KAOZ had fought incredibly well together and had beaten team CRDL in around two minutes. Each member of the team had known what they had to do and had executed their part of the plan almost perfectly in order to pull off the win. The look that had been frozen onto Cardin's face as Eugeo delivered the finishing blow had been priceless. Which gave Kirito the impression that all things considered. Everything was going well.

"Say Kirito. Didn't you have something you wanted to tell everyone?" Alice's voice dragged Kirito out of his thoughts. It was at that point that he remembered what he had promised her. That he would tell his team about him "having no memories". Kirito hadn't forgotten that promise. It was more that he wanted to hold off on lying to his team for as long as he possibly could. Still he had promised Alice that he would tell the rest of his team and he intended to do so.

"Yeah I do," he agreed after an extended pause. Each of his teammates looked at him with different expressions. Eugeos was curious with a hint of concern. Alice gave him a reassuring smile and Medina had her ever present neutral expression. Kirito sighed briefly before continuing, "When I was hanging out with Alice a few days ago she brought up that I had never told you a whole lot about myself."

Eugeo nodded. He seemed to ponder for a second "Now that you mention it that's true. I hadn't really thought about it but other than your semblance and the fact you fought Roman Torchwick we didn't talk a whole lot about you when we all had dinner together".

Kirito let out a hmm in affirmation. "There's a reason for that. You see the reason I haven't shared a lot about myself with you all is because … I don't remember a whole lot." The words felt like ash as Kirito said them. "A few weeks ago, I woke up in an alley. With no memories and nothing to my name, I ended up finding myself in a dust shop that Roman Torchwick had picked as his target for that night. Ruby kicks his goon's asses. I end up using his men's dropped swords to fight Torchwick and the rest is history." Kirito felt he had summed up his situation pretty well. Well at least the facade that hid his actual circumstances.

The swordsman glanced around trying to gauge his teammates' reactions. Alice's expression had not changed which made sense. She had known already after all. Eugeo had a sympathetic look on his face. Kirito figured he understood due to 'Similarity' between his and Alice's situation. Medina looked surprised but also thoughtful. She had brought her hand up to her chin and appeared to be thinking about something.

"I'm sorry to hear that man." Eugeo told him, "I can't imagine what that must've been like," Eugeo's expression twisted into a smirk. "Although I gotta admit. Waking up with no memories and almost immediately choosing violence by fighting Remnants most well known crime boss is kind of badass."

Kirito smiled at his partner's compliment. It was good to know that Eugeo always had his back. Kirito redirected his gaze towards Medina. The crimson haired girl remained deep in thought for a few more moments. She eventually seemed to find her words "I take it this won't affect your duties as team leader?"

Kirito chuckled at that. Of course that would be her first concern "I promise you it won't. Despite this I'll still be giving my all to be the best leader I can". He meant what he said as well. Even though graduating from Beacon was far from his main goal. He still intended to do his best for his teammates.

Medina gave a small hmm at that. "Then it is no issue to me. You have already done a great deal to help me during this first week alone. I feel it'd be very disingenuous of me to give you a hard time when you reveal your own troubles to me as well."

Her words made sense to Kirito. Although Kirito still felt that twinge of guilt for lying to them. Still it appeared that his lie was convincing enough for now. The four returned to the comfortable silence they had been in beforehand. Each now focused on finishing their meal. All things considered things were going well for the time being. He knew that eventually his time at Beacon would come to an end and that's when he would start looking for real answers. But all of a sudden taking it slow didn't seem all too bad.

Kirito quickly glanced at his scroll to check the time and nearly spat out his drink as he did. "Guys, the last airship back leaves in ten minutes!" He yelled in panic as he quickly gathered his things. The rest of team KAOZ all paused for a brief second to process the information before all letting out a collective yelp as they leapt out of their seats. The four of them then began sprinting towards the airship station in a desperate attempt to not get stranded for the night. However despite the panic, Kirito couldn't help but feel content.

Kirito's Log: Week 1 - Saturday - Hung out with Ruby

His first Saturday at Beacon left Kirito in the rare position of having a completely free day. He was already caught up on studying for the week. The rest of team KAOZ were off doing their own thing for the day so training wasn't an option and as such when Ruby had texted him and invited him over to team RWBY's room to play video games he had figured why the heck not.

When he had knocked on the door and Ruby had let him in, the first thing that stuck out to him was the absolute state of team RWBY's room. Unlike his own room team RWBY had stacked their beds on top of each other in an attempt to make them bunk beds in what Kirito gathered was an attempt to gain more space. Kirito didn't think he'd be so concerned if the beds themselves didn't look like they were about to collapse at any moment. God knows how whoever was on the bottom bunks managed to sleep without the fear of getting crushed. Kirito was fairly sure that not even Aura could protect them from that.

"You're going down Kirito!" Ruby yelled as she mashed buttons on her controller.

"We'll see about that." Kirito chuckled.

The reapers' words would be a lot more threatening to Kirito if he hadn't won the last three matches they'd played. Of all of his many skills Kirito had not expected his years of playing video games to be the one that would come in handy. The game Ruby had picked was a fighting game that Kirito had quickly managed to get a hold off and was performing decent enough combos within the first game.

Kirito could only chuckle as Ruby's character's health once again dropped to zero and the game prompted him to finish them. Ruby let out a frustrated yell and threw her scroll down.

"How the heck are you so good at this?" Ruby asked. Her frustration only made Kirito laugh harder. "Not even Uncle Qrow is that good." Kirito paused at that name. Qrow?. Why did that sound so familiar?.

"I don't know Rubes. It's a nice change of pace you know. Me being able to beat you for a change." Kirito responded. His comment had intended to cheer Ruby up but the girl instead looked over him. A kind of sympathetic look on her face.

"Hey. You shouldn't put yourself down, you know. The amount you've improved in such a short period of time is amazing." Ruby told him. "I get that this is coming from the queen of putting themselves down but…. You get my point."

Kirito smiled at her words. She was already getting better at the whole "leader" thing with how she encouraged those around her "Thanks Rubes, that means a lot". He genuinely meant that as well. Ruby had seen how he had been progressing first hand and to hear her acknowledge that he was improving gave him a major confidence boost. "I gotta say though it's refreshing to talk to someone who has such a positive outlook."

Ruby chuckled at that. "I probably got that from my mom. She used to read me a lot of books before bed. I always wanted to be just like the heroes in those books."

Kirito nodded "Everyone did" was his simple reply before pausing "Your mom huh? You don't talk about her often." Kirito had long since figured out that Ruby's mom wasn't around anymore for one reason or another. He hadn't wanted to pry though. He had figured that no matter what it was going to be an uncomfortable topic.

Ruby looked away from him. Preferring to look at the ground. She looked conflicted. Like she wasn't sure how to respond. Kirito waited patiently for her to respond. Giving her time to figure out what she wanted to say. They sat in silence for a few minutes before Ruby managed to find her words "My mom died when I was little."

Kirito immediately felt like an asshole for even bringing it up. He opened his mouth to respond before Ruby quickly continued. "It's OK. I was going to have to tell you at some point anyways." Ruby paused for a brief second as she pulled her cloak around her. "I don't even know how she died. All I know is that one day she left for a mission and never came back. It was….. Hard. For everyone. I was so young at the time. I barely remember everything that happened. I do remember that my Dad basically shutdown though. Yang had to take care of me for a decent part of my childhood. Until Uncle Qrow stepped in and forced him to pull himself together." Ruby looked saddened even thinking about the memories. She refused to look him in the eye. Her gaze laser focused on the floor.

"I'm sorry for bringing it up Ruby." Kirito said slowly. Mentally kicking himself for not having put two and two together sooner. The two fell into yet another awkward silence as neither of them seemed to know what to say. Kirito could see from her body language alone how much the death of her mother had affected her. Then again he didn't expect any less. Kirito paused for a few seconds before speaking.

"What was she like?" He asked

"Hmm?" Ruby gave a confused response.

"Your Mom" He clarified, "What was she like? Tell me about her."

Ruby's face seemed to light up. "Well too start. She made the BEST cookies."

The two continued to talk about Ruby's mom for a while until the rest of team RWBY arrived back at the dorm. Ruby had told him a lot from stories about her mom to what kind of huntress she was. Kirito had figured that she didn't get to talk about her mom all that much and that talking about the good things she remembered might help and he had turned out to be right. Kirito still felt like an asshole for bringing it up so he could only hope that he had helped make her feel better. At least a little bit.

Kirito's Log: Week 2 - Wednesday - Went into the city with Eugeo

"See you soon!" Eugeo called out to the store owner as he and Kirito left the store. The boy in blue turned to Kirito as they left. "Was that everything you needed?"

Kirito made a show of opening the back and looking inside. "Well, if it isn't then that's seventy-five hundred Lien that I'm never getting back," he remarked sarcastically.

Kirito had realized at the start of the week that he, in fact, was not nearly as prepared for Beacon Academy as he thought he was and that he was missing a large chunk of the text books. Sure he could've just asked to borrow his team's books but as the leader of the team he had a few extra classes that the rest of his team didn't and as such had to rush out to grab what he was missing. Eugeo had offered to go with him. Though a part of Kirito suspected that was to make sure he didn't forget anything.

Eugeo smirked at that. "Relax. If you can't afford it you know I'll cover you," he joked. Though Kirito knew there was no malice intended.

"Damn. Make fun of the guy who basically just spent his life saving on text books why don't you?"

To be fair that wasn't an incorrect statement. The only money Kirito had managed to get a hold of thus far was from winning bets against Yang that he could beat her in various video games. The Blonde Brawler hadn't believed Ruby about how good he was and offered to put a wager on the games that they played. Kirito had beaten her almost as easily as he had beaten Ruby and Yang had been dumbfounded. Kirito had tried to refuse the money but Yang had insisted and now here he was. Using it to buy Textbooks. "What a glorious life you live Kazuto Kirigaya" he thought to himself.

Eugeo simply shook his head in amusement, "Well, if that's everything then we should probably think about heading back to Beacon. You know Medina will kill us if we're not there for training on time."

Kirito nodded in agreement and the two began to head back towards the bulkhead. As they walked Kirito's thoughts turned to the boy who was with him. Over the course of his time at Beacon so far he had found that he and Eugeo had been getting along pretty well. Being partners meant that they shared most of their classes and thus spent a lot more time with each other than they did with the rest of team KAOZ. The two spending time with each other outside of training had led them to find out that they were actually quite similar and thus Kirio found himself enjoying Eugeo's company a lot.

Kirito wasn't fully paying attention to the path in front of him and as he and Eugeo rounded a corner he felt himself unceremoniously knocked to the ground as he crashed into someone. Kirito groaned as he felt himself hit the ground and took a second to process what had happened. He quickly realized what had happened and looked over to see who he had crashed into.

To his surprise the person he had crashed into and knocked him over was still standing. Looking down at him with a smirk on their face. Her outfit was predominantly black in design and her black hair was styled into two long pigtails. The main thing that Kirito noticed though was her eyes. One of them was pink while the other was brown. Or at least he could've sworn that was the case but when he looked again they were both brown

"You OK dude?" Eugeo asked. His eyes rapidly darting between Kirito and the girl he had walked in too. He offered Kirito a hand up which Kirito gladly took

Kirito gave him a quick nod before turning to the girl he had crashed into "Ah shit i'm sorry I should've been paying more attention to where I was going."

The girl didn't respond. Well with words at least. She simply gave them what looked to be a silent giggle before she walked past them and continued walking down the street. The two watched her go before looking towards each other slightly confused. Eventually they figured it was nothing and resumed their return journey. But all the way back from that point on Kirito couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched.

Kirito's Log: Week 2 - Friday - Helped out Jaune

Combat class was slowly turning into the class Kirito looked forward to the least every week. Mainly because of how stressed out it made him. Ever since the first combat class his ranking had actually fallen to rank 17. Despite beating team CRDL in their team battle he had lost in a one-on-one against Nora which had dropped his rank. At least that had meant Medina went up a rank but he didn't feel any better about it.

Still at least he was doing better than Jaune Arc currently was. His loose approximation of a fight with Alice had landed him at rank 40. The lowest ranked student in the year. Which in normal circumstances would mean fighting the rank 39 student would be an even fight. Except that due to how things had panned out. That opponent was Cardin Winchester. Jaune was doing his best but against an opponent who had been able to take even Medina's semblance head on it wasn't really working out for him.

Jaune was tired. Everyone watching could see that. He glanced down at his shield to check his aura and judging by the grimace on his face everyone watching knew it was low.

"This fight is over." Medina said disinterestedly.

And not a minute later she was proven right. Cardin had disarmed Jaune and had knocked him to the ground. Everyone knew the fight was over. Yet Cardin continued. He raised his mace over his head and was prepared to bring it down on Jaune. Kirito's eyes widened. There was no way in hell Jaune had enough aura left to take the full force of the attack. Luckily for Jaune. Glynda was also aware of this fact.

A loud buzzer rang out and the lighting at the front of the class changed. "Cardin that's enough." Glynda's voice rang out. Kirito let out a sigh of relief as Cardin begrudgingly lowered his mace. Kirito looked over at the rest of his friends and they all seemed thankful that Glynda had called the fight off.

As Glynda walked onto the stage and began discussing how each student could improve Kirito found himself unable to focus on her words. Instead, he looked down at Jaune with a thoughtful look on his face. The boy was in need of help. Major help. Kirito had no idea how in the hell Jaune had managed to pass one of the entrance exams required to get into the school but he was here and that meant he was going to need to get better if he didn't want to get himself killed.

Kirito stayed in his seat as most of the other students filtered out. Telling his team he'd catch up with them later. Jaune himself seemed to just sit on the stage. Unmoving. Kirito sighed. He knew what he needed to do.

The black swordsman walked down to the stage towards Jaune. Glynda gave him an inquisitive look but said nothing as she left the classroom as well. Jaune noticed the swordsman's approach and sighed.

"Hey Kirito" Jaune greeted. Giving the black swordsman a smile "What's up?"

"Meet me in the training room after dinner tonight," Kirito said simply. He couldn't let Jaune continue the way he was. He knew he wasn't exactly the best huntsman in the year but he could at least help Jaune out a little bit. If there was one thing he'd gained over his years as "Kirito" it had been experience.

Jaune just looked up at him, baffled "Umm sure but…"

"Great, see you there." Kirito cut him off and immediately turned around and left the room. Ignoring Jaune calling after him. He figured basically giving Jaune zero choice in showing up would be the best course of action. If Kirito explained himself he would probably have to deal with Jaunes protesting or complaining that he doesn't need help. This way Jaune is basically forced to show up. Still as a just in case Kirito quickly pulled out his scroll as he walked and pulled up Nora's contact information.

Kirito leaned against the wall of the training room and checked the time on his scroll. Six-thirty pm. Jaune should be arriving soon. The training room itself was relatively empty. Not many people wanted to train at this time on a Friday. Kirito kept himself occupied while he waited by watching two students spar. A girl wearing sunglasses and a girl with Rabbit earl. A faunus. The Faunus were one of the major differences between Earth and Remnant and Kirito wasn't entirely sure why the developers of the STL had felt the need to incorporate animal traits into the residents but clearly they thought it was important.

Eventually the sound of panicked yelling could be heard from just outside the training hall. Kirito looked up towards the entrance and could only chuckle at the sight. Nora was walking into the training room carrying a very scared Jaune over her shoulder. The boy in question was yelling multiple things at Nora as she walked over to Kirito and unceremoniously dropped Jaune in front of him.

"There you go Kirito. One Mr. Arc reporting for duty." Nora said, giving him a salute that Kirito could tell from his time interacting with Nora was 100% genuine.

Kirito decided to humour the girl and gave her a salute back. "Thanks Nora, you are hereby relieved of your duties" he told her. The girl in question gave him a wide smile as she turned and skipped out of the room. Kirito chuckled at the sight before turning his attention to Jaune. The poor guy just barely getting back onto his feet.

"Why did you ask Nora to bring me here?" Jaune groaned as he looked up at Kirito for the first time since he arrived. Kirito felt slightly guilty looking at him. The poor guy did look tired. Then again Nora dragging you half way across campus will probably do that.

"I didn't. I asked her to bring you here if it looked like you weren't gonna show. Evidently judging by the fact that you're late. You weren't planning on it". Kirito told him. Trying to keep a chuckle down at the look on Jaune's face.

"That's not…. I was just…. Pyrrha said…. Ugh fine. Why did you even want me here anyway?" Jaune asked. Not able to come up with a decent excuse.

Kirito took a deep breath before staring at Jaune with a serious look on his face. "Because you need help Jaune, I've seen how you've been fighting recently. In both combat class and during the initiation and if something doesn't change you're going to get yourself killed." Jaune opened his mouth to speak but Kirito held his hand up to stop him. "I'm not saying you're all bad. I've heard and seen through the team battles in combat class that you're a tactical genius. You and Ruby have that in common. You just need to practice more and you could have the physical skills to back it up". Kirito then drew the Elucidator and did a few swings with the sword for emphasis. "I don't know much about fighting with a shield. But swordplay? That's something I can definitely help with."

Jaune looked at him apprehensively "I don't know about this Kirito. I mean getting better sounds nice but after today's fight with Cardin I'm not really sure if I'm..." Jaune was cut off as Kirito slashed across his chest with the elucidator. Jaune's aura absorbed the blow but the boy was knocked back a few steps but managed to stay on his feet. "Hey what gives!" he yelled confused.

"First lesson. Don't talk in the middle of a fight. If you get distracted by your opponent then it's already game over. I drew my weapon. You should've been ready for that." Kirito told him. Honestly this was not Kirito's plan for teaching Jaune at all but he figured if he didn't do something Jaune would have just kept making excuses. Kirito watched as the boy grumbled something to himself before drawing his sword and deploying his shield. "No shield!" Kirito almost yelled, making Jaune jump a little bit. "I said we're focusing on swordplay."

Jaune quickly nodded before putting his shield away and getting into a stance with his sword. Kirito just stared at him for a few seconds before letting out a small sigh. This was gonna take A LOT of work.

Kirito's Log: Week 3 - Monday - Went back to that cafe with Alice

"She carried him all the way across campus?" Alice asked between laughs.

"Yep. From the dorms to the goddamn training room. She then gave me the biggest smile like she was proud of it." Kirito responded as Alice began to laugh harder.

Kirito smiled at the sight. It had been only a little while ago that he had been worried that Alice wanted him dead still after their first meeting in the forest but ever since their first day at Beacon Kirito was glad to say he wasn't particularly worried about that one detail anymore. What had just been a spur of the moment outing during their first day at Beacon had turned into a weekly occurrence.

Alice finally managed to get a hold of herself "You know I shouldn't be surprised considering it's Nora. That girl seems to have just a super power for causing the most chaos possible in any given situation."

"Hey let's just hope we don't end up getting sent on any missions with her." Kirito responded with a chuckle. "Nora's great but unless the mission is a search and destroy I doubt the chaos she causes will be much help."

Alice nodded before continuing. "That girl hits like a goddamn truck too. I am honestly surprised my aura held out when I last fought her." Alice seemed to give a small shudder at just the memory of it.

"Hey, at least you beat her and made it to rank two in the class. When I fought her it just felt like I was getting clobbered for most of the fight." Kirito responded

"That's because you were trying to fight Nora like she was another regular opponent. Like another sword user. When you fight if you can stay inside of her hammer arcs it makes it very hard for her to hit you. Sure it looks like you'd want to stay at a range when fighting her but the more in her face you get the more she struggles." Alice rattled off the combat theory like it was second nature to her as she took a sip of her drink. Some milkshake she had wanted to try. Her face curled into a grimace as she did. "Ok, I think I finally found the one bad menu item this place has. This is gross," she said only then. Kirito looked at her with a bewildered look on his face. "What?" she asked.

"Remind me how you're not the team leader again." He told her. Alice's eyes widened slightly at the sentence. Kirito leaned back in his chair as he continued to speak, "No, seriously. You're a fighter who can keep up with a literally tournament winning champion. Your ability to analyze fights, even ones that you're in, is second to virtually none and you were the only one of us to have Medina's respect from the start." Kirito rattled off each of her characteristics but Alice held her hand up. Indicating for him to stop.

"How many times do I have to tell you? Ozpin chose you. For whatever his reasons may be, the headmaster of arguably the most prestigious huntsman academy on the planet decided you were going to be the one to lead team KAOZ. And honestly I think he was right to do so." Alice told him. Looking at him with the most sincere Kirito had seen from her. She paused momentarily and folded her arms before continuing "You have this…. Remarkable ability to get along with and understand people. You managed to get Medina to consider reconciling her differences with Weiss, who I can tell she has history with despite not knowing the full story and despite our original differences. You managed to find a way to make me want to trust you. Eugeo thinks highly of you, Medina respects you. I think there was no better choice to be our team's leader."

"What about you?" Kirito asked

"Hmm?"

"You mentioned what Medina and Eugeo think of me. What about you?" he asked again.

Alice paused for a second seemingly pondering her words "I. Trust you. You are one of the only people I have trusted enough in recent memory to consider as an actual friend. You are the only person other than Eugeo I've been able to be honest with about my lack of memories. It"s like I said there is something about you that just makes me want to trust you. Maybe it's because I can tell you really do care." She paused again to find the right words "I think out of literally every other student in our year, that there's no one else I'd rather have as my team's leader." She finished with a smile on her face.

Kirito just sat there for a minute processing everything she'd said. Alice didn't say anything during that time. Just letting him process what was said. Eventually she glanced at her scroll and stood up. "We should get going. We have combat class again soon."

Kirito nodded at her and stood up. "Thanks Alice" he said as he looked her in the eye.

Alice didn't respond to that . She just smiled at him.

The two then paid their bill and headed out and Kirito couldn't help but feel a lot more confident in what he was doing. Although as they left, Kirito could have sworn someone was watching him.

Kirito's Log: Week 4 - Sunday - Sparred with Pyrrha

Of all the things he was expecting to receive on a quiet Sunday evening. Kirito hadn't been expecting to receive a text from Pyrrha asking him if he wanted to spar. He had gone back and forth on if he should go or not but Medina had mentioned how it would be good practice for him to do so. So here he found himself. Walking into the training room while it was virtually empty. Save for one other person.

Pyrrhas sat quietly in the middle of the room. Apparently doing some kind of meditation. Kirito didn't quite get what she was doing but who was he to question her? She was the tournament champion after all. Pyrrha must've heard his approach as she opened her eyes at the sound of his footsteps and smiled at him.

"Hello Kirito" She greeted cheerfully, "Thank you for coming."

"Hey Pyrrha" The swordsman responded with a smile "What're you up to?"

Pyrrha didn't respond at first. Simply gesturing for him to sit down with her. Kirito paused for a second before simply nodding and sitting down in front of her. Pyrrha seemed to smile at the action.

"Can't say I've ever been here this late before." Kirito told her. "Scratch, I don't think many people come here this late at all."

Pyrrha gave a small chuckle at that "You would be right it is usually just me here. Sometimes Blake comes in to read as it's quiet."

Kirito nodded, "So anyways, why did you ask me to come here? You said in your message that you wanted to spar but judging by how we're sitting down I doubt that's the case."

Pyrrha hummed in agreement "Correct. I did initially want to spar but I actually wanted to speak to you about something else." She briefly paused. Kirito gestured for her to continue, "Truth, be told I am curious about something. It is in the way you fight. In all your fights you have fought in a consistent way. You are always on the offence using your semblance as well as your own speed to break through opponents defences even when they would outpower you, such as during your fight with Cardin." As soon as she said that Kirito knew where she was going. "During that fight had your struggle lasted just a few more seconds Cardin would have overpowered you. And yet you were able to overpower him with a technique unlike anything I have ever seen. I have also noticed that you haven't used said technique since. Why?"

Kirito sighed. It was the first time someone had brought it up with him since his fight with Cardin. "I haven't used it since because I don't know what I did". Pyrrha's expression didn't change. "I just felt this. Urge to win. That losing there would be the end of everything and then I did... Whatever the hell it was, I did, and the next thing I know Cardin is down and I'd won."

Pyrrha nodded "That would make sense. Many people gain new understandings of their semblance in times of desperation."

Kirito took a second to think before shaking his head. "No, I don't think that was my semblance. When I use my semblance I usually feel the aura drain or something. When I did whatever the hell that was it felt like it was giving me a second wind or something."

Pyrrha seemed to ponder that for a second. "An ability not tied to your aura. It doesn't sound like anything I have ever heard of. Still I may have a way to help you in that regard." Kirito looked at her curiously, "I want you to practice channeling Aura with me. By doing so and being so used to the feel of your own aura you'll be able to feel if anything is off the next time you use that ability and will be able to know for sure."

"That…. Makes sense I guess. So where do we start" Kirto asked

The rest of Kirito's night was spent with Pyrrha teaching Kirito multiple different Aura channeling exercises which turned out to be way more strenuous than Kirito would've thought. The initial meditation wasn't all that bad but once they actually started channeling it felt tougher than any workout Kirito had ever been through.

By the time Kirito finally made it back to his room for the night he was exhausted. Falling asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

Kirito's Log: Week 5 - Tuesday - Discussed Weiss with Medina

Beacon Academies library was kind of loud for a library. Normally libraries were kept quiet as a way to allow students to focus on their studies. Beacons library was filled with the sounds of students chatting as each of them worked on their projects and talked among themselves. Kirito couldn't help but find the noise distracting, however, as he and Medina attempted to study. There was an upcoming test in Professor Oobleck's class on parts of the history of Atlas and as such he figured who better to ask for help than the person who literally lived there. Medina had agreed surprisingly quickly to help him out and thus the two of them found themselves here.

"How many years after the great war did Atlas become the capital instead of Mantle?" Medina quizzed him

Kirito responded almost immediately, "It was ten years right?"

Medina nodded "Correct. The main decision behind making Atlas the new capital was?"

Kirito once again knew the answer "It was that Atlas' population far outgrew mantles."

"Correct Again. Who was it that, as a result of the dust shortage caused by the great way, decided to gather as many miners as they could in order to remedy this problem?"

Kirito paused briefly. Not because he didn't know the answer but because of who it was. "Nicholas Schnee" was his answer

Medina visibly winced at the name but quickly hid it "correct", she confirmed. "I'm impressed. We've only been studying for a little while and yet you've been able to pick up this material exceptionally well."

Kirito chuckled at the compliment "Thanks. History is something that just interests me so it's pretty easy to memorize." He took a quick sip from his bottle of water before continuing "Speaking of … Well the Schnee's… Any luck in speaking to Weiss yet?"

Medina only sighed "No. None at all. Not that I've been actively trying to talk with her though I suppose." Kirito simply watched Medina's face as she spoke. She looked hesitant just talking about the matter let alone going through with it. "I still want to. I really do. It's just. I'm scared. You know how our last conversation went."

Kirito smiled at her sympathetically, "No I get it". Just wanted to see if that was still the plan. Don't feel any rush in getting it done though. She's only just started warming up to her team. Maybe giving her a little space right now is for the best.

Medina nodded seemingly in thought. The two fell into a comfortable silence for a little while as Kirito reviewed his notes and Medina seemed to think about the Weiss Situation. Kirito was deep in concentration trying to figure out if he had noted down one of the dates wrong or not when Medina finally spoke up.

"The final day of this semester," she said.

"Hmm?" Kirito said being dragged out from his focus

"I will speak to Weiss on the final day of this semester, no matter what the circumstances. That will give me enough time to prepare." She told him before pointing a finger at him, "You once said that you would be willing to be there when I spoke to Weiss. Does that still stand?"

Kirito didn't even take a second to respond "Of course it does. If you want me there I'll be there".

He told her, giving her the warmest smile he could.

She smiled back. Seemingly content "Thank you Kirito, you truly are a good friend," she told him. "We got distracted though. In what year did the SDC first start mining dust in Vaccuo?"

Kirito laughed and easily answered the question. Sure Medina was still bothered by the Weiss issue but at least he had been able to help her out. Even if just a little bit.

Kirito's Log: Week 6 - Thursday - Discussed dust modifications with Weiss

Kirito had a puzzled look on his face as he laid on his bed and stared at the ceiling. He was done with classes for the day and he didn't feel like studying and as such was left to his thoughts. To put it lightly,he was stuck. He had recently been looking into improving his weapons' dust features. He thought that while they functioned pretty well for the most part. It was incredibly inconvenient to have to reload each weapon after just a single use. On a suggestion from Tai he had spoken to Ruby about it. Ruby had been the one to figure out how his sword's dust features even worked at all but Ruby had just been stumped. The main problem was that reducing the amount of dust in the ammunition would lead to not enough force being triggered in the attacks and thus them not being nearly as powerful. She had basically said that he would need to find someone who knew dust like the back of their hand to even make a start. Kirito had hoped that meant her but apparently this was "way above her pay grade".

But who in the hell could he ask about dust? The beacon professors might be able to help but they probably wouldn't immediately trust that a student was immediately looking to make dust more powerful without suspecting he was up to something. Of course he wasn't but he didn't know if the conversation was worth it. He had asked his team about it but none of them seemed to know either. It was only at that moment he realized that none of his teammates used dust at all. So just who was he supposed to ask. It wasn't like he knew a damn Schnee or anything.

…..

Wait a minute. He did know a damn Schnee.

Kirito almost jumped off his bed with the realization . Startling the nearby Eugeo who had been studying at one of the desks

"Geez man warn a guy before you do something like that." Eugeo yelled.

"Sorry man," Kirito responded sheepishly. "I'm gonna head out for a bit. I wanna ask Weiss about something."

"Weiss?" Eugeo questioned before it seemed to hit him, "Oh it's about that dust thing. Right?" He asked. Kirito only nodded in response "Well good luck with that man. Just be careful around Weiss." Eugeo told Kirito. A small frown making its way onto his face.

Kirito quickly exited his dorm room and made his way over to team RWBY's dorm room. He knocked on the door and it only took a few seconds for Yang to answer the door.

"What's up Kiri-dude?" She greeted cheerfully, "You miss me that much that you just had to come see me."

Kirito laughed. Typical Yang introduction "Hey there Yang and that's not it. I actually wanted to speak with Weiss if she's in."

Yang seemed surprised at that "You. You want to talk to Weiss?" She asked. Kirito nodded slowly. Yang let out an exaggerated groan. "PLEASE tell me you aren't going to try and ask her out. Jaune's been getting put through the ringer by her." Yang told him.

Kirito was caught off guard and looked completely stunned for a few seconds. Doing his best to regain his composure he finally focused "That's not it at all. I actually wanted to ask her about dust".

Yang laughed. "Oh thank God, because I cannot deal with her complaining even more," she said, before sticking her head back into the room. "Weiss! Get your ass out here! Kirito wants to talk to you!"

Kirito only heard a brief yell back from somewhere in team RWBY's room before Weiss finally made her way over to the door and switched places with Yang

"Kirito. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Weiss asked. Her voice was a mix of curiosity and what Kirito thought was Sarcasm. It made sense that she wouldn't be exactly happy to see him. In the few interactions they'd had so far most of them weren't particularly friendly. "I hope this isn't about Medina. I've been doing my best to not cause issues for her. I did promise Ruby that much after all."

Kirito made a mental note to thank Ruby for that one later. "Hey Weiss. No this isn't about Medina. I'm actually here on a personal request. You know a lot about dust right?" He asked her.

Now it looked like he had piqued Weiss's interest. "It is one of my many specialties, yes. Why do you ask?"

Kirito seized the opportunity and began to speak quickly, "It's to do with my weapons. You see with how they're built they require almost a fully dust cylinder to use the dust features on them. I was hoping to maybe switch it up so that I can have multiple charges instead of having to reload between each use but the problem is..."

"That the weapons lack the initial force with less dust and therefore are less effective." Weiss finished raising a hand to her chin in thought.

"Exactly. I figured if there's anyone who would be able to come up with a solution it'd be you." Kirito told her "You're the best person around when it comes to dust," he continued. Hoping flattery would get him somewhere.

"Naturally" She responded still in thought. "I might have some idea of how to fix your ammunition problem, but it'll take some time for me to properly develop. I'll let you know when I've got something concrete." She told him

"Great thanks Weiss" He thanked her but she held her hand up

"Hold on a minute. I didn't say I'd do it for free." She told him. Kirito looked at her curiously. He should've guessed that Weiss wasn't one for charity work. "Let's make a deal. I'll help you out with your ammunition problem and you'll spar with me so I get good practice against sword users," she told him.

"Against sword users. Why would you want to practice against…" He trailed off before it hit him. "You want a rematch with Eugeo" It suddenly dawned on him "He beat you the last time you fought so you want a rematch"

"Not just Eugeo. If I'm going to be number one in combat class I'll also need to overcome Alice eventually as well. So do we have a deal?" She asked offering her hand in a hand shake

Kirito hesitated for a second before chuckling. "Ok sure deal", he said, shaking her hand "but i'll warn you practice against me, it won't help much against those two. Alice and Eugeo are entirely different ball games," he explained.

"We'll see" she responded as she turned around and went back into team RWBY's room. "Goodnight Kirito" she said as she closed the door.

Kirito didn't waste time heading back to his room. He had gotten what he wanted out of the interaction but couldn't help but wonder just what he had gotten himself into.

Definitely not Kirito - but someone who knows a lot about him

Roman Torchwick looked exhausted as he finally sat down. Weeks of stealing every bit of dust he could his hands on was finally taking its toll. His scroll buzzed in his pocket he briefly pulled it out and checked the caller id. Seeing who it was he chose to ignore it. He didn't have the energy to deal with "her" right now.

The man let out an exasperated sigh as he lit one of his signature cigars. He was enjoying the brief period of peace and quiet he was getting before he heard a knock at the door. Four knocks exactly. A specific code. A grin made its way onto the man's face. "Come in Neo" he called.

The door opened and Neo walked in. She briefly looked around the room before looking Torchwick in the eyes with a devilish grin on her face. "How're things Neo? I take it by the fact that you're here means you've got something for me".

Neo brought her hand up to her chin. Attempting to look like she was in thought. Roman recognized it as her being playful. She eventually smiled again and handed him a file. With Kirito's face on the front of it. Roman opened the file and began to read his smile growing wider as he read "Atta girl Neo. This should be more than enough".

Authors Note - 16/08/2024

AHHH I DID NOT MEAN FOR THIS TO TAKE SO LONG I'M SORRY. Truth be told the reason for the gap is I've been in my final year and university for most of the wait and I only just graduated. But hey the chapters are finally out. This one is meant to serve as both some fun interactions with Kirito and the rest of the cast as well as bridging the gap between points in the story without treading the same ground the actual show did. Just taking what the show did and shoving Kirito into it doesn't feel great so instead I wanted to show some other things off. Also between the last chapter RWBY got cancelled and brought back to life so that's fun. But that's all from me. Hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you in the next chapter!.
