Chapter 1: A Storm at Sea

Our mysterious hero (who is unnamed), is attempting to cling onto Grovyle for as long as she can.

Whoa! Wh-wh-whoa…!

Grovyle: Are… Are you okay?!

Suddenly, a lightning bolt strikes them both while heading through the rough storm.

Grovyle: No! Don't let go! Just a little longer… Come on! Hang on!

The lightning bolt strikes the girl as well, causing her to lose grip of Grovyle.

N-n-no! I can't… hold on…!

As the wave rushed towards both Grovyle and the girl, she becomes separated from Grovyle, turning her into an Eevee in the process.

The human turned into Eevee washes ashore on the beach of Treasure Town, falling unconscious as their vision closes.

Meanwhile, on the other side…

Devin the Treecko struggles to find the courage to make it through the gate of Wigglytuff's Guild, since there's a grate keeping him from going in fully.

As the Zubat and Koffing attempts to follow the Treecko (and steal the Relic Fragment from him as well), he makes a friendship that would never break once he met the human now turned into Eevee.

Devin (Treecko): (inspired) Wow… I forgot sometimes how beautiful the sunset here are… The Krabby's Bubbles catch the sunlight reflecting off the waves… It's always beautiful.

…Heh, the reflections are crystal clear.

A bubble floats over towards the unconscious human turned into Eevee.

Devin (Treecko): W-wait… Is that a Pokémon?!

I-It is! They aren't moving or anything, are they… dead?

There's so much blood, but no open wounds... What should I do…?

He pokes the unconscious Eevee awake with a stick, awakening her.

Devin (Treecko): Sweet Arceus, you're alive! Are you okay?

She tried to get up, only to fall back over from the blood wound that she incurred.

Devin (Treecko): Whoa, slow down, girl, no rush. Just rest for a minute.

She sighed on the beach, until she realized that the reflection on the bubble showed her that she'd become an Eevee.

The Bubble from earlier pops.

She was stunned that a paw had grown from her palms, where her original fingers were supposed to be, and the padding was a fleshy pink color, with a coating of brown fur around it. She'd also turned her head around, to look at a teardrop-shaped tail, brown like the rest of her fur, with a tip the same color as her fur collar.

Devin (Treecko): …Trouble speaking, huh? That's got to be rough. Um, I'm Devin. (gives her a stick that resembles a wand) Can you write your name out, at least?

The human turned into Eevee wrote her name out in the sand with being good with curvy and straight lines and circles, spelling out her name: Sunny.

Devin (Treecko): (asking) Well… You're very good at straight and curvy lines? And circles as well. But, uh… I can't even read this at all. Except for the smiley face. I can at least understand that.

Well, seeing as how you can't even speak, and that you can write out your name… Your name is Sunny. Right?

The human turned into Eevee nods her head, saying that is her name.

Devin (Treecko): Okay. Well, you don't seem to be a bad Pokémon, at least. Sorry that I doubted you. More and more bad Pokémon had started appearing, you know? Things have grown somewhat lawless…

Sunny gasped as he was attacked by the Zubat and Koffing from earlier.
