Mikasa was at the beginning of the steps leading up. Mikasa heard clacking. She looked back to see Emma. Her yukata was all messed up. Mikasa breathed in deeply. "Hey." Annie looked up to see Hinata. "Do you need help?" Annie swallowed her pride and nodded weakly. Her clothes were falling off her. Just to make sure she wore shorts and a tank top so that if it did fall she wouldn't be half-naked.
Mikasa skillfully tied the Yukua right. In her time with the Azumabito family, she also learned many costumes such as what to wear for certain events. She learned how to put them all on herself, it was uncomfortable to have servants now after not having any your entire life.
Once she was done Mikasa walked up the stairs along with Annie. They still didn't like each other but it was more of a 'You don't bother me, I won't bother you' type beat.
Draken looked over at Emma. He felt his face getting hot ever so slightly. He turned around and breathed to calm himself. "Took you guys long enough," Draken told them. 'Shit, that sounded too mean' He panicked on the inside.
Draken walked ahead with Annie while Mikasa and Takenitchi were left alone. Annie was walking beside Draken observing everything. He smiled at her. 'So much for that promise.' He thought bitterly. He saw a food stand. "Emma, you want some?" Annie looked over. "No, I'll get fat." Draken made a face. 'So?' he thought internally. She walked farther and farther. Annie had spotted something, and she wanted that something now. 'Donuts.' she thought.
'Modern donuts are so much better than the ones in paradise. And Marley didn't even have any.' Annie quickly paid and bit out of the delicious pastry. Dr
Aken stood there with an unamused face. But he couldn't keep that face for long. Annie's face was warm and content with the pastry.
Annie led the way back but passed Takemitchi with a natural Hinata. Mikasa observed as Takemitchi's eyes lingered just a little bit longer on something that reads 'Big pork fish cullet'. She walked over to the stall that was offered. It was a shooting game.
She smirked a bit. Takemitchi walked with her to the stall and watched her pick up the gun. She weighed it a bit in her hand. "Young lady, would you like to try?" She nodded her head. Takemitchi watched as she pointed the gun and fired with ease.
It hit dead center. Takemitchi stood there in awe but then went pale at their previous conversation. She had asked what he was doing with Emma that day. She looked over at him with a neutral face. He started to sweat. She then grabbed the big porkfish cullet and gave it to him. "Here." was all she said.
Annie looked from afar. Mikasa and Annie locked eyes. Annie walked over to the stall while Draken followed close behind. Annie too took the gun, spun it in her hand, and pulled the trigger. Dead center again.
The man gave her a prize. Draken and Takemitchi looked at both girls as they looked at each other.
"Mister, One more time," Both said. Time after time they hit dead center. Both boys just stood there as prizes piled up.
"Umm. Please don't put me out of business." The man pleaded with the girls.
The boys walked as Annie and Mikasa walked by them. Each dragged their own boy away from the other looking at each other the entire time.
It soon started raining.
"ahh…Hina?" "Hm" "Why don't you like Emma?" Mikasa looked at him with no expression visible. Takemitchi began to sweat. "Is there any particular reason why you do like her?" "N-No, I-I was ju-just asking. I won't ask anymore." She nodded her head and walked ahead.
Takemitchi observed out of all the prizes in particular she clung on to the birds or any orange, red, or pink ones. "Hina, what do you plan to do with all those prizes?" She looked back at him and gave him half while smiling. "I earned most of them for you and Naoto." He blushed slightly. "O-oh I thought it was just to outdo Emma…" "That too." They walked into a forest when Takemitchi nearly tripped, on instinct she grabbed his shirt and pulled him back towards him pushing them both up against a tree. Mikasa had a slight tint of pink on her cheeks. It had been a while since she was this close to a man. She got a good look at Takemitchi, she really liked his eyes. His eyes were really pretty, but most of all she liked the determination they had.
Takemitchi looked at her. There was something different than the last time he stared into her eyes. They were still dull, but yet so pretty and once more filled with unmatched wisdom. But this time he could see her eyes getting warmer, no longer the cold color they once used to look at him. He smiled looking at his girlfriend's face. 'She's so pretty' he thought to himself. His eyes trailed down her lips which were slightly parted, he couldn't help himself…he leaned down and Mikasa stayed still…for a bit. She reminded herself she would give him a genuine chance, she quickly met his lips. The kiss was sloppy on Takemitchi's side. This had been the first kiss he had ever received. Mikasa was quick and somewhat passionate while Takemitchi was rushed but full of love nonetheless. His hand traveled down to take hold of her waist to pull her closer and Mikasa's went into his wet hair.
Then Takemitchi's phone rang. He groaned pulled out his phone and pulled away from Mikasa while she looked the other way with a heavy blush coating her cheeks.
…
Annie was observing the prizes she won, deciding which ones she wanted and which ones she would just throw away. She catches sight of a blue whale. She pauses looking at it. Draken watches as she stares at the sea animal.
Every so slightly he hears 'Armin…' He inhales a bit. That hurt. Who is this 'Armin' guy? That doesn't sound like a normal name. It sounds like a Western name…an actor maybe? He shakes his head trying to forget what she said. "Emma hurry up." Her head snaps up while keeping the stuffed animal in one hand. That one, she was definitely keeping that one. Early on Draken and Mikey both discover Emma had a weird obsession with things that had to do with seashells, sea animals, anything aquatic really. Had this been because of this 'Armin' person. He didn't know nor did he plan to dwell on it.
Finally, Annie finished sorting what she wanted and what she didn't. She kept anything that was blue or any shades of blue, any aquatic animals. The rest she gave to Draken as a 'present'(Not really he was just the nearest person whom she could give the rest of the things she earned because she didn't want to carry them)
"You're a good shooter?" He asked her. "Yeah but I'm more skilled with blades, but I can do with whatever is given to me," she answered absentmindedly while looking at the whale from before. "Blades? Like knives?" She stiffened a bit. In this life she decided that she wanted to do nothing with fighting so, Annie, or Emma now, was never really involved with fighting in Toman nor did she ever offer to help. It would be a little bit suspicious that she knows how to handle knives and shoot guns fairly easily and has excellent fighting skills above the average person or even a soldier.
"Yeah like knives." "Is there anything you can't do?" he asked rhetorically, though she didn't catch it. "I don't have physical strength." He sorta just stared at her. "Where'd you learn how to shoot?" She stayed quiet and shrugged. "I didn't" (Years of training not only in the Warrior unit but also in the cadet corps) "Then the knives?" "Practicing, just for fun and boredom" (The Cadet Corps)
He kept quiet not mentioning how he knew she was lying. The first shot and getting a bullseye is luck, but hitting it several times in a row… That was a little bit more than luck. Tachibana too, where did she learn to shoot like that, he put off the growing feeling in his stomach.
…
Mikasa had been waiting for at least five minutes as of now. In the meantime, she went to a store owner and asked for a bag to put the stuffed animals and other prizes. Nearby there was a stall that had the options of swords. Naoto had been obsessed with occult things and these fake swords had lots of protection spells on them. She figured she would win them just for him. Not to mention she wanted to play with her younger brother just a bit more, so why not play with swords? She could teach him a thing or two.
It was one of those games with a hammer and if you could swing it hard enough it would hit the bell at the very top. She saw many men try it with no luck. It was most likely rigged. No matter, she was Mikasa Ackerman, this wouldn't be any trouble at all.
She gave the money to the stall man and prepared to swing. She gripped the handle tightly and swung, and the bell rang. The stall owner looked at her and sighed. "Well what do you want?" "The 2 swords." "No can do, those aren't prizes." She scowled. "Then why are they there?" He grinned at her. " They're not real swords but they were pretty expensive, they're blunt. I can't just give them away in a simple game." "But the game was rigged. That hammer wasn't heavy enough and the pad was blunted." "But you hit it. I'll tell you what girl if you want them, then you'll have to beat me in an arm-wrestling match, deal?" She nodded.
A small crowd surrounded her. The man was buff, really buff. Normally that wouldn't have mattered, but this wasn't her original self. Tachibana Hinata had little to no muscle. Mikasa inhaled and exhaled, setting her arm on the table. On the count of three, they started. She was losing her arm and was bending. There wasn't enough space for her to pull what she wanted to pull. She pushed back, harder. Finally, she had enough room. Was it cheating? Not really. Could she win in the long run? Probably but at this rate, it would take forever. She let go for just a second making him lose his grip, countering with speed she quickly won.
"You cheated!" The man stood up. "No, I didn't. I simply used other variables that were available." The crowd started cheering her on. "She won! Give her the prize." The man grumbled and gave her the sword. She thanked him and went on her way. She ran through the paths searching for Takemitchi. It had been too long since he was gone. She finally saw him on the ground tied up. "Takemitchi!" She ran over to him. She quickly untied him. "Sorry…sorry for leaving you alone." She smiled back at him. "It's ok. I was able to get another prize" She showed him the swords. He gave her the best smile he could after what happened.
He started crying a bit. "God, I suck don't I? You're the one who earned all the prizes, I left you all alone… you always have to come to rescue me." She stood there as he cried lightly. "I try Hina. I really do, but it's not enough. Nothing, absolutely nothing has changed, I haven't been able to save anyone." She helped him get up and hugged him. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." he cried harder. It was something a lot deeper than that. Takemitchi knew it wasn't just that, his mental health was crumbling. He was only 26. It was too much for the boy who was a loser his whole life and still is. It was too much and he was crumbling already under the pressure. He came back from the future and nothing has changed. Hinata was still dead.
He really couldn't do it. Maybe if it was entrusted to Hinata, maybe she would do a better job. She was everything he needed to be. A good significant other, a good fighter, stronger, wiser. She was so much better than him. "Takemitchi, what's wro-" "You don't get it! I'm a complete failure! I can't even fight right? How stupid could I ever be to think I could save anyone? I was so foolish and I still am!"
There was something off when he was like this, it reminded her of Eren when he would have his mental breakdowns and randomly start apologizing especially to Sasha, only now she knows why he had them. But…this was a completely new place, a new era, maybe even a new world. Titans don't exist, Eren made sure of that. Takemitchi certainly wasn't the founding titan.
"That's not true-" "Just leave! I don't want you seeing me like-" He was headbumped by Hinata who looked less than pleased. "That's not true! You try! And sometimes that's all you can do! You can't do everything on your own! That's why others exist! That's what I'm here for, Takemitchi! You can't take on the whole world and expect to win without some casualties!" Mikasa yelled at him. Everything she ever wanted to tell Eren when he was going to do the rumbling. She wanted to yell at him more than anything that there was a better way, a way where everyone got what they wanted. That Armin and her and him would figure something out. Just for him to come home.
He stood still. "I- nothing Hina. I'm sorry." She sighed and a shiver went up his spine from hearing that since she was so close to his ear. "You don't have to apologize for being you…everyone has a breaking point. Some reach theirs faster than others and that's okay. I don't know what's happening but I hope one day you can trust me enough one day to tell me about it. Until then I'll always be here for you to cry on." He cried a bit more into her shoulder.
