Day 1: Sunday's Melancholy Part 4
Chiyoda, Diet Building
Kagome had been wondering where the JP's people were going to took the two of them as they sat in the middle seat of the van watching the scene go past, she was actually quite surprised when the van was going toward a large yet familiar building.
"What is this place?" Souta stared in amazement at the big building, he had long forgotten his concern on those JP's members that do nothing toward them except forcing his sister to go with them.
"The Diet Building." Kagome answered as she watched the familiar building, their school had brought them to a few famous locations before so she knew about the place, although she had not personally entering the building before.
"Really? So, why are we here?" Souta slightly gasped as he was the first time seeing the Diet Building.
"Ask them, don't ask me." Kagome shrugged in response, she really didn't know why they had to bring her here of all places, she thought they were only concerned about her ability to summon demons and spiritual power.
The van soon enter the Diet Building ground and stop at one of the parking lot before the JP's people escorting Kagome and Sours inside without a word, they had went to an off-limit place to took the elevator there down to the lowest level and then walk through a hallway before thry finally reach a really big room.
"This's under the Diet Building?" Kagome couldn't help but wondered out loud this time, she had not guessed such a place would be right under the Diet Building.
The place they were currently in was actually a big entrance hall with stairs on the two sides leading to the second and third floor, there were bookshelf around the entire floors and high above in the center sat a large golden clock.
"Whao, it's like a secret hideout!" Souta was getting more and more excited by the minutes even though he didn't like the silence at all.
Just when Kagome was about to said something, footsteps could be heard coming out as the JP's people with them suddenly salute toward whoever coming toward them, "This's the one who release a large amount of spiritual power?" A calm voice was heard coming from the floor above, causing her to looked up to saw a young man with straight silver hair almost reaching the shoulder and he was wearing all black like the other JP's people.
"Yes!" The man that had been the one doing the speaking since they meet answered with respect as the silver-haired young man land his purple eyes on Kagome.
Kagome just face the rather cold glazed, it somehow remind her of Sesshomaru's cold glazed which she was actually quite used to it. She could tell the unknown silver-haired young man was rather strong and had authority similar to the Inu Daiyoukai.
"Sir, this's Higurashi Kagome and she was train to become a Miko to take over her family shrine, the Higurashi Shrine." The woman that had spoken earlier in the shrine introduced the girl to the silver-haired young man next.
The JP's people had actually question her about her identity and the happening in the shrine at the beginning of their travel in van, she had answered as honestly as she could while leaving out her knowledge of knowing the demons beforehand, she would had hide the knowledge of her spiritual power if not for them already knowing it so she just state her grandfather had gave her some training in being a Miko to take over the shrine which was not entirely false.
"You are a Miko?" The silver-haired young man asked directly toward the girl, there was gleam of interest in his eyes.
"Yes." Kagome answered truthfully with a nodded as Souta had somehow went to hide behind her.
"Hmm, interesting…" The silver-haired young man muttered under his breath but was still loud enough to be heard in the silence before he spoke up toward the JP's people, "They both must be tired, bring them to the resting area. I'll talk to Higurashi later."
"Yes, Sir." The JP's people response with a salute before the silver-haired young man turned around to leave.
Kagome frowned slightly at the silver-haired young man's high-and-mighty attitude, she would have given him a pierce of her mind if not for being in their place and without knowing what exactly they had asked her here for.
"I'll take you both to the resting area." The woman before state right after the silver-haired young man had completely left their sight.
"I'll leave them to you then." The man just nodded and state before turning away to walk off with the three other JP's people and Kagome's belongings.
"Wait!" Kagome stop the four before they could leave with her things, catching their attention instantly before she asked, "Will my phone and bow be returned to me?"
"You will have them after we confirm your situation." The man answered to Kagome's relief before turning around to leave without looking back.
"You two follow me." The woman stated as she walked toward another direction.
"Let's go, Souta." Kagome looked toward her brother to see he was still quiet from the young man's presence.
Souta just nodded before the two of them followed the woman farther inside, it only took him a few moment before his curiosity get to him again and began to check out their surroundings.
"Can you tell me who is that young man with authority earlier?" Kagome was not really interested in the surroundings since she had seen places like castles in the feudal era so she decided to ask about the silver-haired young man instead.
"He is Hotsuin Yamato, the chief of JP's." The woman answered without looking back as she lead them forward.
'He's the chief of JP's!?' Kagome was actually quite surprised since the young man looked about her age, she had only thought he had some authority in JP's not own the whole group!
Asakusa, Sensouji
When Hibiki and Io reached Sensouji, the sun was almost set but they had not managed to catch sight of Daichi.
"I don't see Daichi here…Where could he have gone?" Io was worried as they stopped below the temple stairs for a small rest.
"Don't worry, we'll find him soon." Hibiki assured the girl, trying his best not to show his own worries for his best friend's safety.
"Yeah, we have to! Let's keep looking." Io was somehow cheered up by Hibiki's calmness, she was more determined to find Daichi now, "We need to find him before that monster does…"
"Hello~! Dammit, where are you guys…?" Just then, a familiar voice could be heard coming from the temple.
"Hey…! That voice!" Io instantly turned toward the direction of the temple as she recognized the voice.
"It's Daichi! Let's go!" Hibiki had of course recognized his best friend's voice.
"Yeah! Let's go!" Io instantly agreed before they quickly ran up the stairs toward the temple.
The stairs were not that high up so the two didn't take long to reach the temple and immediately caught sight of Daichi standing beside a monument as he took a rest.
"Daichi!" Hibiki immediately called out to his best friend in relief.
"Whao, I'm glad to see you guys still alive!" Daichi was instantly relieved to see the two coming his way.
"We should be the one saying that." Hibiki couldn't help but say as he had been worried about Daichi's safety.
"Thank goodness we found you, we've been looking all over for you." Io smiles in relief as she sees Daichi still safe and sound.
"Me too! I've been walking and shouting non-stop trying to find you two…Wait! Where is Kagome?" Daichi was only now noticing the missing younger girl as he was too relieved in finally meeting up with the two to notice it.
"We got separated from her too…" Io was now worried for the younger girl too as their focus had been finding Daichi first since the death clip.
"Kagome should be fine, she is most likely waiting for us in Higurashi Shrine if we don't find her around here." Hibiki was at least confident that his younger cousin won't get lost in Shibuya and took care of herself
"Why will you find Kagome around here?" Daichi asked out in confusion at Hibiki's statement.
"Oh, yeah!" Io instantly realised as she recalled the reason they were here searching for Daichi first, "Daichi, we have to get away from here, or something terrible will…"
"Oh, can't I rest a little? I'm really tired." Daichi couldn't help himself from complaining as he limped over the monument, he was tired just by thinking about the upcoming walk when he still hadn't rested enough.
"Wait…!" Hibiki instantly reached out his hand, intending to pull Daichi away from the familiar monument in the death video but it was already too late as the guy had leaned on the monument.
"Wah…!" Daichi jumped back away in surprised as the ground suddenly shook.
"What's happening?" Io asked with her eyes widen, her voice was obviously panicky.
They all watched as the monument sank into the ground, and was replaced by a gold mechanism object before it flashed.
"Daichi, move!" Hibiki immediately went to pull Daichi away from the familiar path.
Just as Daichi was pulled away, black energy stream or something surged out from the gold mechanism, cracking the floor as it collided toward the lantern hanging on two sides of the temple.
The three were quick enough to move out of the way but they were still startled by it as a burst of light soon blind them before a strange woman in a white kimono materialised in front of the temple followed by two dog-face furry beast men at her both sides.
"What was going on here!?" Daichi immediately screams out as he takes a few steps back away.
"That's the monster in your death video!" Io widened her eyes as she instantly recognized the strange white kimono woman.
"What!?" Daichi was more than shocked to learn about his own death clip.
"Thank you for freeing me. I am Bai Suzhen." The strange woman said politely with a slight bow, "The reward for breaking my seal shall be...quick death!" It didn't take long for her to show her maliceness, she waved her arm sending a torrent of ice from the ground in front of her toward the three.
"Waaaaaah! Someone help! It's a monster!" Daichi screamed in panic as he backed away with Io to crowd around the only remaining calm person.
Just as they thought they were doomed, an unexpected person came rushing in between the attack and them.
"Damn! You three move away from the spot!" The suspicious blue-haired woman who questioned them at Shibuya Station, ran in front of them with her phone positioned in front of her, "Power!" She called out just as a familiar beam of blue light appeared in front of her before an angelic male figure in red appeared swinging his weapon toward the torrent of ice.
Hibiki quickly pulled both Daichi and Io away from the attacking path as the suspicious woman moved away toward the other side of them just before the angelic male figure, Power was pushed back by the attack and frozen for a moment before the ice blast sending him flying back a few steps.
Hibiki frowned at their situation, the suspicious woman demon, Power couldn't possibly handle three enemies at once so they had to do something, "Use the Demon Summoning App! We have to help out." He let go of both Daichi and Io as he took out his phone to open it but quickly frowned when he saw the app was only more than halfway downloading something.
"Yeah, right…" Io hesitated for a bit as she took a step forward and brought out her phone, a familiar blue stream of light appeared in front of her before the small fairy, Pixie appeared.
"Are you both crazy, we can't possibly win against them…" Daichi said still panicking about their situation as he watched the still alive Power going after the strange woman demon, Bai Suzhen as the two dog-face beast men came rushing toward them.
"Don't be foolish! You will die if you don't do anything!" The blue-haired woman said sternly from the side, catching their attention before adding, "I'll handle Bai Suzhen, you three just tried to deal with the two Kobolds."
"Alright…" Daichi gasped as he also took a step forward and shakingly took out his phone to summon his demon, Poltergeist soon appeared, quickly firing a spear of ice toward one of the attacking Kobold.
"Pixie, attack that demon!" Io took a deep breath as she gave an order toward the small fairy who instantly sent a bolt of small lightning toward the other Kobold.
Hibiki felt useless without any demon as he watched the fight, the suspicious woman had handled the fight with Bai Suzhen rather well as she gave order to Power whenever she spotted a chance of attack while Daichi and Io remained out of the way letting their two demons do their own job but the three on three fight didn't stay for long though as more demons appeared to attack them.
Hibiki couldn't help with the fight directly but that didn't mean he couldn't help any other way, he instantly pulled Io out of the way when he spotted a small blast of flame shot toward the girl from a floating cat demon wearing a hat.
"What the…" Daichi almost screams when the small flame lands on the ground not far away from him before he notices they were surrounded by more demons, "Whao, when did these monsters get here!?"
"Daichi, on your right!" Hibiki immediately warned as he saw another all red small demon come rushing toward Daichi with a punch.
"Aaah!" Daichi screamed as he quickly moved away from the spot, almost falling down at the sudden movement, "This is really bad! Maybe we should just hide or run away!" He was more and more panicked now as he moved away again trying to dodge the small red demon punch.
Hibiki pushed Io away from him as he jumped back to dodge another fireball attack from the cat demon before Pixie who was actually still busy with the Kobold, sent a small bolt of lightning toward it before the small pixie was hit by the Kobold attack and disappeared.
"Oh no…" Io gasped at her disappeared demon, she was now defenceless and helpless as her demon was being repaired, although that lightning attack on the cat demon seemed to have not just injured it but also stunned it for the time being.
Hibiki didn't like their situation one bit, he didn't have time to think about it more though as the red demon was too close for Daichi to dodge the punch so he quickly went to push his friend away just before the demon punch landed on him.
"Hibiki!" Daichi and Io called out in concern as they watched Hibiki sent back a few steps by a punch.
Hibiki coughs out blood a little as he holds onto his painful stomach, it was like being punched by a heavy muscular adult man, "I'm fine…" He stumbled away to dodge another punch from the demon, the punch earlier had certainly caused some inner injuries so it was best for him to avoid getting hit again.
"Whao!" Io stumbled out of the way when one of the Kobold swung its weapon down toward him.
"Dammit! Poltergeist!" Daichi called out to his demon who dodged the other Kobold attack, firing spear of ice toward the Kobold earlier to push it away from Io before it was hit by a fireball attack and disappeared.
The blue-haired woman was busy with a few other demons when Hibiki went to push Daichi away from the hit, she would have gone to help the three if not for worrying she would lead the demons surrounded her toward them but at least Power had already deal with Bai Suzhen so it didn't take her demon long to finish the few lower demons around.
"Go and hide, I'll handle the rest." The blue-haired woman came toward them as Power swung it weapon toward the Kobold that had lost it target, killing the demon with one hit before going toward the other Kobold.
"Thank goodness…!" Daichi was more than happy to be out of the way as he quickly went to help his injured friend out of the punching attack while Io stumbled a bit to go hide as she managed to dodge another fireball attack.
Hibiki just let Daichi pull him away as they dodged another punch attack, he was too tired and in pain to continue dodging around on his own, he was at least glad that he didn't gain another hit on his person but moving around in his current state was actually quite tiring.
It only took Power a moment to finish the remaining three demons off as the three went to hide behind a tree nearby, they only came out of their hiding when everything was clear.
"We're alright now, right?" Daichi asked as he warily looked around the surroundings as if something would just jump out to attack them at any moment.
"I don't see any…" Io took a few steps before flinching, she could feel pain coming from her ankle whenever she moved.
"Io? Are you injured?" Daichi immediately asked in concerned.
"I think I sprained my ankle." Io said as she tried to ignore the slight pain whenever she moved.
"I'll need to put another seal on Sensouji so stay back." The blue-haired woman warned the three from coming closer as she walked toward the gold mechanism.
The three didn't really understand what the older woman mean by that but they still paused their step as they watch the woman face her phone toward the gold mechanism object, the
phone shine before familiar black energy stream surged out from the gold mechanism object toward the middle of the temple before a bright light shine and the previously disappeared lantern had return back to it original place
"Whao! The lantern's back! But, how!?" Daichi was a bit startled by all that as he had taken a step back away, he was also confused at everything he had just seen.
The blue-haired woman looked at the gold mechanism object and the lantern as if she was making sure of something before turning to the three, "...Now then, I believe I owe you all an explanation." She said instead of answering Daichi's question.
"Who are you?" Hibiki asked as he stepped closer to the older woman, he frowned slightly as he could still feel the pain coming from the place he was hit.
"I am Sako Makoto, a member of a special division that focuses on demons, the Japan Meteorological Society, JP's." The blue-haired woman, Makoto introduced herself.
"So, wait! You fight demons for an occupation!?" Daichi spoke up in shock at the strange occupation.
"In a way." Makoto simply said, not going into detail at all as she just continued, "I was here to check out the seal and also you, Shijima."
"Huh? Me…?" Daichi points at himself in confusion before he notices something else and screams out, "Wait! How do you know my name!?"
"We have received a report of your death video by Higurashi. It was easy for us to identify the person in the video and the location." Makoto simply answered as she recalled what happened earlier, she was already on her way to check on some of the seals when she got a call from JP's regarding the death video and straight out came to check on Sensouji first.
"Is it from Kagome?" Hibiki asked to make sure at hearing his cousin's surname.
"Yes, she is currently with us, along with her younger brother." Makoto answered with a nod.
"So, they are safe?" Io asked with concern.
"They are." Makoto simply nodded.
Hibiki was at least glad to heard his two younger cousins were safe but he also couldn't help but worried how they ended up with JP's, and not to mention their other two family members were not with them when Kagome should have gotten back home to meet up with Souta.
"You can come with me to meet up with them. I'll also have someone check on any injuries you might gain from the fight." Makoto said as her glazed land on Hibiki who had taken a direct hit, and then Io who was clearly in pain too.
"Oh yeah! Hibiki, you were hit by that small red monster!" Daichi quickly remember, he actually felt a bit guilty for Hibiki's injuries.
"That monster is Obariyon." Makoto told Daichi before turning back to Hibiki, "Obariyon is a lesser demon but it's attack is still stronger than normal adult, it will be better for you to get a check for any inner injuries."
"Uh…What should we do, Hibiki?" Daichi went to quietly ask Hibiki, he was worried about his friends injuries and Kagome but he had doubted about the woman even though she had saved them.
"We should go with her since Kagome is with them." Hibiki decided without much of a thought since they could just run away later if the JP's had any bad intention toward them.
"If you say so…" Daichi was a bit hesitant to follow the woman to some unknown place but he agreed that they did need to meet up with Kagome and also get some help for the injuries Hibiki and Io had.
The three had agreed to go with Makoto before they introduced themselves officially to Makoto.
"Here, let me help you, Nitta." Seeing they had agreed to come along with her, Makoto lent Io her shoulder before leaving as she stated, "We're going to Nagata-cho, so follow me. Shijima can help Kuze out so that he won't injure himself more."
With Daichi lenting his shoulder to have Hibiki lent against him, the four slowly followed Makoto away.
Chiyoda, Diet Building
Kagome and Souta had not step out of the room since they had arrived, it was not like the door was locked but she just didn't feel like going around checking out the place and she was not letting Souta out alone either so they ended up staying in the room doing their own things. Souta had brought along his portable game so he at least had something to do while Kagome could only think about everything that had happened and be worried for the others until her phone was returned to her a moment ago.
"So, Kushinada-hime had a barrier and light skill huh…" Kagome muttered under her breath as she checked out her phone's Demon Summoning App detail on the demon Kushinada-hime.
Aside from the lore of Kushinada-hime, there were also stats of her and the two skills; Shield All and Mahamaon shown on the screen. It seems that Kushinada-hime was much stronger than Io's Pixie and Daichi's Poltergeist, and are more focused on magic than physical attack, making Kagome wonder how the strange app chooses the demon the owner of the app summons.
"What are you talking about?" Souta turned toward his sister who was sitting beside him on the only bed in the room, in curiosity to see her looking at her phone.
"The demon that protected you before." Kagome answered as she showed Souta her phone.
Souta put away his game to look over at Kagome's phone, "Why is she on your phone's screen?" he was instantly surprised by that familiar female figure protecting him earlier showing on the scene.
"She's the demon that automatically downloads on the Demon Summoning App." Kagome's answer only gave Souta more questions so she quickly added before he could let out a stream of questions, "The app was also automatically downloaded so I really didn't know anything about it."
"Oh…" Souta seem a bit down at that but only for a moment before he realised something, "So, does that mean you are some sort of demon summoner now? Since the app is called the demon summoning app and that demon did appear earlier like you have just somehow summoned her!" he was excited again with his eyes sparkled as he stared at his sister.
"...Maybe?" Kagome was rather unsure about being a demon summoner but what Souta said was not wrong, she did somehow summon Kushinada-hime earlier.
"So good〜, I wish I could have a phone and the cool app!" Souta had a hopeful look over his face as he stared intensely at Kagome's phone.
'Hmm…If Souta has the app, he will have something to protect himself but…' Kagome seriously thought about it as she stared at her defenceless younger brother, she would like for Souta to have some sort of protection but summoning demons could be dangerous too so maybe she should find more about the app before deciding if it was suitable protection for him or not.
"Souta, we are going out." Kagome decided in the next second as she kept away her phone.
"Finally!" Souta was more than happy to leave the room, he was getting bored playing the same game.
Leaving the room without their belongings except for Kagome's phone, they walked through the path they had come from earlier but were unable to find any JP's people along the way as they soon neared the big entrance hall.
"Sako, why are they here?"
A familiar voice asked from aboved, Kagome recognized the commanding voice belong to the young looking chief, Yamato as she look toward the opening to saw three familiar figure standing in the middle of the entrance hall along with that suspicious woman from Shibuya Station.
"...I had them come along since I thought we could get more intel on the summoning app they also had." Makoto answered a bit stiffly before adding, "They also have firsthand experience against demons, so depending on the situations…"
Yamato held out a hand, stopping Makoto from speaking farther, "Enough, Sako. They're civilians. Just finish your business with them and escort them out." He then turned toward the 'Civilians' with a thin smile but cold stare, "I'm grateful for your cooperation but this facility is normally off-limits. I must insist that you leave as soon as possible. Well, then…" He nodded to the three before turning around to leave.
"What a jerk…!" Daichi couldn't help but mutter under his breath, getting a disapproving stare from Makoto.
Before the older woman could say anything, Kagome finally decided to step out as the young chief was gone, "Hibiki! Daichi! Io!" She just waved and called out to thr three as she ran toward them.
"Kagome!" The three being called instantly turned to Kagome in surprise.
"Sis!" Souta called out to his sister as he quickly followed behind to meet with the group of people he didn't even know, although the name Hibiki sounded familiar to him.
Hibiki was glad to see his younger cousin safe and sound as he smiled in relief, "It's good that…Ugh!" He was soon groaning in pain when Kagome launched at him with a bear hug.
"Wait, you are injured." Kagome instantly let go with a frown at the pain expression on Hibiki while Souta stopped beside her to stare between them.
"He was punched by a demon!" Daichi was the one to answer, knowing Hibiki won't honestly tell his cousin.
Kagome's frown only tightened more at that, she was about to say something when the suspicious woman whom she had forgotten spoke up.
"I'll have someone check on his injuries." Makoto said before realising something and added with a slight smile, "By the way, I'm Sako Makoto."
Kagome just nodded before introducing Souta and herself back to Makoto, she would have declined the woman's offer if she had real medic training since she still couldn't put her trust on JP's, although they might be good to get information from.
"Follow me then." Makoto then walked toward the hallway the two Higurashi had come from.
The five just followed behind, talking amongst themselves and also introduced Hibiki and the others to Souta.
This is the end of the chapter, there was not much of a fighting scene in this chapter because Hibiki's group was not really strong for that so only the main three demons and a few lesser demons appeared in Sensouji fight scene. Anyway, I had rewrite the last part of the chapter a few times, the first time was having Kagome talk back to Yamato so that Hibiki and the others could say with her until he didn't need her but I feel that Yamato was not the type to just agree to anyone request without any merit so I change the content. I had previously planned for the Day 1 event to be four or five chapters but I doubted the next chapter could finish the Day 1 event so there might be another chapter before we began with the day 2 event.
