"Well, this isn't what I was expecting..." Momo noted as he and Ruby sat in a dimly lit interrogation room as the blonde woman who had helped them was reading them the riot act.
"I hope that you realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly, young lady. You put yourself and others in great danger."
"They started it!" Ruby pouted.
"If it were up to me, you'd be sent home... With a pat on the back and a slap on the wrist." The woman, Glynda Goodwitch, said sternly. "But... there is someone here who would like to meet you."
Glynda moved out of the way so a surprised Ruby could see a man in green come through the doorway, holding a mug and a plate of cookies.
"Huh, he looks familiar..." Momotaro internally noted.
"Ruby Rose..." The man began as he leaned in to look at the girl's face. "You... have silver eyes."
Ruby awkwardly tried to come up with a reply while Momo arched an eyebrow before the man turned his attention to him.
"Ah, your majesty." Ozpin said with a smile, placing the plate down in between the children. "Prince Momotaro, isn't it?"
Glynda's stern face turned to one of shock and confusion, which goit slight giggles out of Ruby and Momo.
"W-what is the prince of Vacuo…?"
"That is a VERY funny story-" Momo began but Ozpin turned back to Ruby.
"So! Where did you learn to do this?" He asked as he presented a tablet showing recordings of Ruby's fight.
"Oh sure, just ignore me." Momotaro said. "Not like I spent two hours practicing my story and answers to your questions…"
"S-Signal Academy." Ruby answered Ozpin, nervous.
"They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?"
"Well, one teacher in particular."
"I see..." Ozpin hummed as he moved the cookies on the table in front of Ruby, who began to help herself. "It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before. A dusty, old crow..."
"Oh, that's my uncle!" Ruby said through a mouthful of cookies before swallowing. "Sorry. That's my Uncle Qrow! He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now, I'm all like— Hooowaaah! Witchaaaa!"
Momo couldn't help but playfully snicker as Ruby made fake kung-fu noises and poses. Ozpin shared in his mirth while Glynda just rolled her eyes.
"So I've noticed. And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"
"Well...I want to be a Huntress."
"You want to slay monsters?"
Momo had to keep his head from spinning when Ruby went on a long tirade. Ozpin seemed to hold on to every word she said without issue while Glynda looked more than a little off-put. After she was finished, the two adults studied her for a moment before Ozpin spoke again.
"Do you know who I am?"
"You're Professor Ozpin. You're the headmaster at Beacon."
"Hello."
"Nice to meet you."
"You want to come to my school?"
"More than anything."
Ozpin smiled.
"Well then. Young Rose? Your Majesty? Welcome to Beacon."
The two youngsters beamed in delighted, albeit in a calmer tone for Momo.
"…That is….I assume you came to Vale to be…?" Ozpin started.
"Yup!" Momo smiled. "Expand my horizons and all."
Momo then looked at Ruby
"Do you need..I mean, I doubt any criminal could, but…"
Ruby smiling in thanks but shook her head.
"No. My sister's waiting outside."
Momo raised an eyebrow.
"You have a sister." He smirked.
"Don't even try; boys and girls have and failed since I can remember," Ruby smirked back.
As Glynda led Ruby and Momo off, Ozpin suddenly felt his Scroll buzz and checked to see that he had gotten a message from General Ironwood over in Atlas.
"All of them are in. You're responsible for them."
He let out a knowing smile before turning to his right-hand woman as she came back in after escorting the two youths.
"Glynda?"
"Yes?"
"Please notify the other teachers that we'll be doing a breakfast meeting. On me, so they can all order whatever they like."
And with that, Glydna began to worry. What could be so bad that Ozpin would happily pay exhorbently for breakfast when he usually would pay the bare minimum and get everyobne else to cover their expenses?
POWR
'Never again!' Two boys said as they clambered onto the Bullhead, having just made it on time after….harrowing travel to Vale.
'Never. Again, will I ride in the back of a manure truck!'
105 miles in said truck for Whitley.
'Then again, this means I can still at least enjoy father's blood pressure rising when that town gets back on the map.'
Oscar had hiked for three days (which made him SICK AND TIRED of Trail mix) after his train had been attacked by Beowulves. And that was after some hotshot newly graduated Huntsmen tried to give him flak for defending the other passengers! Well where had THEY been, huh?!
'Still, that nice old lady did give me some wonderful cookies, so…' Oscar mused, then recalling how he had gotten a lift the rest of the way by a kindly if somewhat out there farmer.
As the Bullhead lifted off, Oscar was amazed at how small the skyport got and how soon they were flying through the clouds.
"First time?"
He turned to see a pale boy his age in a blue suit,
"That obvious?"
The boy nodded, then slapped his forehead.
"Oh, where are my manners; Whitely."
"Oscar."
The two shook hands, noting the grip.
"…Farm work, I wager? Whitley guessed.
"Yup. Born and raised." Oscar said. "…Tinkering?"
"Well, more programming, but yes. And some metal work." Whitely admitted; bets to keep info to the minimum…even if this Oscar boy seemed like the humble and 'bumpkin type.' "But you seem to have actually fought Grimm; I've merely been in simulations."
"Well, you want to do good, so that counts." Oscar shrugged, then freezing in shock…which Whitley soon joined in.
"Oh, I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me! This is the best day ever!"
An absolutely gorgeous blonde woman was hugging a girl who appeared to be younger by two years, probably the same age as both of the two boys. Standing nearby was a young man with an ornate-looking sword attached to his hip and with slick black hair tied in a ponytail.
"Please stop..." Groaned the younger girl as she was squeezed tightly by her much stronger sister.
"But I'm so proud of you!" The blonde, Yang Xiao Long, said.
"Really Sis, it was nothing."
"What do you mean? It was incredible!" Yang argued. "Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees."
"I don't want to be the "bee's knees", okay? I don't want to be any kind of knees! I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees." Ruby argued.
"I thought you were more excited when Ozpin gave us the approval." Momo noted wryly.
"Of course I'm excited... I just..." Ruby began before letting out a sigh. "I got moved ahead two years. I don't want people to think I'm special or anything."
"But you ARE special." Yang pointed out, pulling her younger sister into a gentler one-armed hug.
Tiny claps filled the air.
"I do apologize." Whitley said. "Just…you remind me of my eldest sister in the best of ways; strong, caring, supportive…"
'If only I'd seen the use of that sooner…' He inwardly mused, leaving Oscar to speak.
"H-hello. My name is Oscar and my warmhearted friend in Whitely."
Momo gave the two boys a look over; Whitley obviously came from money but seemed to hide that, and was genuinely happy to see Yang and Ruby's bond. And Oscar was shy, no doubt enraptured by two very beautiful women but trying to be cordial and gentlemanly.
"Well, aren't you two adorable." Yang teased, smirking as Oscar tried to focus on her face and even looked ov4er her shoulder, asking Ruby for help. "…Gotta say, both bummed and happy Ruby's not alone."
"Well, I hate to rainn on your parade, but…they're not the young ones here, either."
Another new student made himself known; He looked to be 14 years old and had white, silver-like hair. He had his weapon on his right side at all times and wore a white vest with the image of a crow with a pen in its mouth, along with slim jeans. He also carried a briefcase with him.
"Hello. My name is Quartz." The boy said with a wave and slight bow. "If you don't mind me asking…what weapons do you use?"
Ruby's eyes glowed in delight. A fellow weapons lover! This could still be a good day!
"Hello, and welcome to Beacon! My name is Glynda Goodwitch." Glynda's hologram suddenly spoke as it appeared.
"Oh hey, it's Miss Goodwitch," Momo noted.
"Aw, poop." Ruby and Quartz pouted together.
"You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world."
With that speech finished, the hologram vanished as Ruby looked out the window, being joined by Momo, Whitley, Oscar, Quartz, and Yang.
"Oh, wow! Look, you can see Signal from up here! I guess home isn't too far after all!"
"Beacon's our home, now," Yang said.
A groan of discomfort was heard as they turned to see a blonde young man clutching his stomach, looking downright nauseous as he tried to find a trash can to puke his guts up in.
"Well... I guess the view isn't for everyone." Yang noted with a roll of her eyes.
"Have some compassion..." Quartz sighed.
"QUARTZ?!" A voice called out, "WHERE ARE YOU?!"
The boy tensed and looked to hide.
"You didn't see me! I wasn't here!"
And he zoomed away.
"…He's got a big brother here." Whitely and Ruby said together.
"How can you tell?" Oscar asked.
"I've made that face and done the same,"
Knightmare Lord A/N:
While writing this chapter, I came up with the idea to bring back two of Mrotrax's old RWBY fics into this one; Team QORK and Team REDM! Since we already have an OC in Momo, why not have more to spice things up more?
I hope this is alright, Mrotrax. I'd love to discuss what to do with these characters since they belong to you, after all.
Mrotrax A/N:
Sorry this took so long! Hope it was worth the wait!
