Return of the Dread
Jaehaerys I, the Wise King, generally wasn't one to find humor in tall tales or fantasy.
In fact, he was more oft than not one to consider such fables the tales of the God's themselves.
So, when his granddaughter came rushing into the throne room with a boy who was barely older than her, he grew concerned.
A boy.
A male...
The opposite gender.
With his little rascal of a granddaughter?
Was the world of Westeros coming to an end?
Aemon was going to have a conniption when he learned about this...
He inhaled deeply before he rubbed the bridge of his nose, "So... you claim to have fallen from the sky-"
"Uh, yup" the blond answered, his face saying it all-he'd show them if they wanted proof.
"All while fighting your best friend in a fight to the death-"
Naruto cringed, "eh, something like that" he looked uneasy about that one,
He ignored the interruptions, "And then when you first looked around, you spotted Meyles, and instead of running like you should have-"
Naruto chuckled as he grew embarrassed, "Yea, not my smartest move that." he said with red cheeks,
The King grunted-this brat...was really testing him wasn't he, "Where you somehow found yourself being pinned underneath her head so as to... what, pet her or-
"No, no no, nothing like that. I could barely turn around before she swiped me feet out with her tail, and waited for me to turn around where she then pinned me down."
The King turned when he felt a gentle hand place itself upon his arm, "Husband, we both know Meyles doesn't take to just anyone." his wife, Queen Alysanne Targaryen, said with a knowing look that said she knew she was right-and even he knew he couldn't argue against it, "She is more likely to burn something she did like than to act a dog wanting attention. So, even with the disbelief in young Rhaenys' and this young boys testimony, the fact remains, he was in the pit with Meyles, and he survived being around her." she pointed out, "And you can also smell Meyles' scent upon the both of them." she added when her husband went to speak, "The most we can do now is listen to the rest."
Jaehaerys wanted to scowl, he truly did, but even with all the facts and proof before him, he also knew she was right.
"Well then, the fact facing us still remains that the young man-Naruto-erm, right, Naruto, had managed to get inside the most dangerous place in all the world and walk away unharmed." he stated.
"I mean...I did get numb legs from being pinned, but, I mean..." he couldn't argue when the elderly man turned to look at him, "Well, the large black one, he's also ill as we stated beforehand. I could heal him, if ya like?"
Silence fell over the room.
"Balerion is two-hundred-years-old young man, the most that would be wrong with him is he is getting to old to continue living." the Queen said looking at Naruto with a curious look, "So, please explain how he is sick when it has never been recorded for a dragon to have fallen ill?"
"Well, like I told Rhaenyra before she dragged me here without even explaining what was going on, it most likely came from a old wound from his younger years." he explained, "I barely even said as such to her before I found myself being dragged here before the both of you."
Jaehaerys was slightly disbelieving. He wanted fact and proof over tales and stories woven by children, "Even if you were capable of doing such, what would you gain out of such service to the crown?"
"Nothing." Naruto stated instantly, "I don't need a reason or cause to wanna help someone or something that could be fixed with kindness."
Before Jaehaerys could speak up, his wife beat him to it, causing him to huff-she always was like this even when they were younger-and was summarily smacked on the arm by her in response, "Would you be willing to make such claims if you were incapable of doing so?" she asked, eyes narrow.
"No." he shook his head, "If i couldn't do something, I would find a way to achieve what I wanted. All I am able to do now is because I worked myself to the bone to learn or achieve, I was the only Sage left in my home, the most powerful warrior which even brought the heaven's to heel in the middle of a war. I faced the wrath of a planet in the form of a living cataclysm. I fought and held on my own a fight against a goddess with the ability to shift various planes and realities with a thought and reduce a person to ash with a scratch. On the day of my birth, my father summoned the very embodiment of Death itself to seal a portion of the very cataclysm I fought into me an hour after my birth before he succumbed to his own wounds."
"I have fought for recognition and power when all others ignored or ridiculed me. I went through the experience of being orphaned at birth and was left straddled with a Tailed Beast that I possibly couldn't hope to control, with no bloodlines to speak of and with no mentor to help me become worthy and powerful. I didn't lie down and simply accept the fate I was dealt at birth. I lashed out, violently. I alone made friends who wanted to see me, despite my heritage and means. I alone found mentors, and showed them worth. I earned power, instead of having it showered upon me from a young age. I brought myself into the fight against all odds with an explosion, and ripped through it with impunity." he stated pointedly.
"I alone turned myself into a warrior that defied the basic laws of the game the so-called gods deem to play. I made everyone I knew understand my value and want to see me improve for the future in which I would be required to use anything and everything to fight against those who would see my home burn. I was the very subject of a Prophecy that would have me be the savior or destroyer of all I knew and loved, and when I ascended to level's of power beyond most mortal comprehension, I chose to give all that up to live as a normal man before being dragged into a fight I wanted no part of before I ended up here."
"All that I am, I became because other's came to know me for who I was, not what I was capable of doing." he finished honestly.
Jaehaerys looked to his wife and then to Rhaenys who looked like she almost wanted to pounce on him and demand proof and cleared his throat, "Very well, show us that you can help Balerion and we might just heed your claims." he stood up and descended towards the floor, "Alysanne, be a dear and fetch whatever supplies the boy will need to help Balerion in his recovery."
"That won't be necessary." Naruto simply pulled off the black glove on his hand to reveal an intriguing mark that was both white and circular in the middle of his palm, "All I need to do is touch where he was originally hurt and I should be able to heal him to his former strength."
Both Jaehaerys and Alysanne felt perplexed.
"Such a bold claim." Rhaenys said in surprise, "Are you sure you didn't bump your head before?" she asked him grinning.
"As sure as the big smelly beast that thought of me as a pillow." he said blankly.
"Then let us proceed to the pit, and show us proof of your claims."
(.0.0.0.)
His wound ached.
Balerion was old, but he still had life left in him.
But what was the point? Old Valyria had taken all his kin from him in the Day of Ruin. Vhagar alone remained.
He was the last...the sole remnant of...
.
..
...what just landed on his face?
Something, no someone, slowly forced his right eye open.
Dimly he became aware of a fire taking shape before him... but, it smelled of Aegon...his friend... his master.
"Aw, jeez. You've had a rough time of things, haven't you..." a soft voice said softly.
"Here we are," another voice spoke, "Now heal him if you can."
Ah.. Maegor's nephew, he could smell his offspring upon him from here. Jaehaerys. The Bronze hatchling's master.
Balerion closed his eye with a grunt, content to dwell in darkness. His visitors didn't much like that.
"We need to expose the wound first, can't heal him otherwise."
"So, you need him to stand up?" the King questioned.
"Yea, he's big, but I haven't seen any signs of scars on his upper body." the child of fire said.
"Rise, Balerion!" the command came with explicit strength.
Ugh, the pain.
He didn't wanna.
"Stand up, Balerion." the command came, causing him to groan in pain. up as he was told.
"There!" the child said, pointing at his abdomen.
Balerion growled at him, he knew not his intentions, but he wouldn't let him act as if he were some horse to be pet-what in the flame's name?
Unbeknownst to him, Naruto had leapt up and clung to his scales via chakra. The energy resonated deep inside of the Black Dread, causing some of his own power...his withering magic, to respond. With a shuddering groan that seemed to rattle the very world, the massive Wyrm perked up, feeling thirty years younger.
Then, something changed.
A pulse of... life... came from the whelp.
Balerion turned his head with a grunt and deigned to open his eyes again, watching this time as the boy's entire arm glowed with gold.
Then, he struck, his hand entering his scales, yet not drawing blood.
PAIN!
Balerion drew his head back with a roar of surprise, the whelp cried out, the hand that was not inside his body reached out and grabbed a massive plate that was a scale. The Black Dread wasn't idle, his body surged forth, the cries and exclamation of those beneath him as they raced to get away.
Exiting the pit, Balerion began to run, physically run where his wings unfurled and beat down against the world with eagerness and energy not seen from the old dragon in nearly fifty years.
The whelp's energy was still coursing through him as he drank greedily, taking all he could-ignoring the cries of the human clinging to him- as his youth was being restored to its pinnacle power.
He drew his head back and roared.
The cry rattled the whole of King's landing below, but it was what came next that cemented the proof, a mixture of red/black fire burst forth and ignited the heaven's and soared out in a pillar of death and destruction.
He circled the massive castle that his rider Maegor had built up, his wings clapping like thunder, the cries of the people within and around drawing all sorts of looks, and still he drank of the power coursing through him, taking all he could and more from the whelp who healed him.
Balerion couldn't understand that the healing had already been completed, that the fire wyrms that dwelling inside his body thirty years ago had all been killed off, his energy and power restored, and his greedy inhalation of the power coursing through him was just as dangerous if not mitigated and controlled.
Luckily, Naruto was controlling the flow of said chakra, ensuring that the drake didn't explode from the sheer amount of energy he was consuming from him.
He-Naruto-held an entire universe's, if not more, in his body, and this lizard was just drinking more and more and more as if though had been dehydrated beyond measure. He couldn't pull his arm out as the drake was keeping the link between them open, but he was determined to break it. Sticking with chakra, the massive dragon wheeling about in the skies with a roar that rattled the city, he drew his other arm back and silently apologized as he channeled that same energy into his free hand and smashed it into the drake's chest causing it to cry out, and fall from the sky.
This not only broke the connection between them, but also caused them to flip through the air.
Luckily-and this is stressed-they managed to crash down into the waters of the Blackwater Bay, the tidal wave caused by Balerion's crash nearly reaching the mud Gate from sheer size.
Naruto surfaced first, sputtering and spitting water, "Damn lizard, was he trying to kill himself?!" he asked, only to cry out when
The answer was an emphatic no; for Balerion shot out of the water like the great leviathans of old; half of his brutish bulk broke out in a single surge, his wings following seconds after, washing Naruto away as the drake roared and leapt free from the waters, flying away.
He might have a bit of excess energy at the moment. May be a bit hyper on the grand scheme of things. But, he'd live for sure now.
He coughed again, expelling some seawater he'd inadvertently swallowed from that damn lizard leaping out of the bay. Dragging himself out of the water, he shook his head and looked around, but from the darkness of the sky, he couldn't find that damned lizard-bah, if he was able to fly around like a damn hyperactive puppy he'd be fine.
...you never do things by halves, do you?"
"Very funny, Kurama." he thumped his head, wincing as some water leaked from his ear. "Gah, I'm gonna be waterlogged for days...
Thankfully, he was drawn out of his thoughts when the sound of flapping wings filled the air causing him to turn and watch as two dragon's landed on the shore. One was bronze as a copper coin, the other a dazzling dark shade he couldn't quite make out in the darkness, but the people on them he recognized, as the King and Queen and even Rhaenys who had jumped off the bronze dragon to rush at him.
He waved at them, "Hey, you guys alright?!
"Us?!" Jaehaerys nearly guffawed. "We should be asking you the same. I have never seen Balerion act in such a manner before. How did you accomplish such a feat?"
Honestly was probably the best policy here, strange as the explanation might sound. "He had these, I dunno, slimy worm things inside him." he gestured expansively for good measure. "I purged them from his body, healing the damage done to him from the consummation of his body. He'd probably live a few more years and die, but now he'll live a lot longer now."
"Worms...you mean like a parasite?" Rhaenys asked.
"If worms could breathe fire then, sure I guess." Naruto shrugged.
"Fire Worms, from Old Valyria." Alysanne stated as she looked to her husband, who nodded his head in agreement.
"Well, what now?" Rhaenys asked, "He's proven he can heal...wait." she trailed off, eyes widening, "He did it with a touch, he did it with a touch!"
Jaehaerys snorted as Alysanne hummed with wry amusement. "We noticed, dear granddaugther."
Rhaenys rounded on Naruto with a gleam in her eyes that rather put the poor blond on edge if he were entirely honest with himself; what came next absolutely floored him. The princess closed the distance between them in an instant and almost seemed to appear in front of him in the blink of an eye. Her hands closed around his and held up their interlocked fingers just below her chin, clinging tight.
"You can use magic?!"
Gulp.
"I mean, if by magic you meant my Chakra then yeah, you never asked." Naruto responded.
"What else can you do?!" she questioned excitedly.
"I mean, I can do all kinds of things." he would've gestured with his hands, but she was holding so darn tight that he couldn't bear the idea of tearing them from her grip. "I hadn't perfected a lot of things, but I learned as much as I could before I found myself here."
"Teach me!"
Naruto nearly crashed facefirst into the floor! "Teach you!?"
She hopped up and down in place -adorable!- grinning from ear to ear. "Did I stutter?! Teach me your ways, mage!"
"Oi, now-
"Calm yourself Rhaenys," Queen Alysanne crooned softly. "I am sure young Naruto will be more than willing to speak of his capacity for magic on the morrow."
"Yea, I ain't gonna lie, that damn lizard took more from me than I had wanted him to." Naruto said scratching the back of his neck.
"You hit the Black Dread with enough force to knock him from the skies, I would say it were an even trade." Jaehaerys snorted, he was actually kinda amused by that.
"I mean, I didn't want him to die from taking too much." Naruto responded.
"Which, we can, again, talk more about tomorrow." Alysanne stated, more firm than before, leaving no room for debate in her decision. "To bed with you, Rhaenys."
"That sounds like a grand idea, my dear." Jaehaerys agreed.
He was not sleeping in a different room on his own tonight, thank you very much.
"Wha-but?' Rhaenys went to try and protest, but a look from both her elders quelled her wants and desires to know more. "Awww...

Bed, normally entailed going to sleep.
Instead his own thoughts tormented him. The massive black dragon he'd healed had flown off and hadn't been seen-also because it was dark out-since as he was not in the massive building where Naruto had first saw him. The old man was kind enough to personally lead him to a room for him to rest in, but he had the stipulation of a couple guards standing outside the door to ensure he didn't go or do anything to the rest of his family.
And yet sleep eluded him. He lay there instead, unable to find comfort. Hours ticked by before he finally found sleep.
When dawn broke, he was unable to ignore the light of the sun shining in his face. So he made the hard decision to actually wake up rather than rest a little longer. Crawling out of the bed, Naruto stretched and cracked his bones to rid them of the stiffness be it in his shoulder's or back he cared not-it just felt nice.
Deciding to greet the day and see if he was able to talk to the old man about what was gonna happen next, he dressed himself and left the room, asking for a simple set of directions to the throne room to speak with Jaehaerys-whom he called old man-and ignored the rebuttal's to his nicknaming of the king.
With his direction's given, Naruto began to make his way down the stairway to the room he could speak to the king with.
What he wasn't expecting-however-was a tall man with Rhaenys' features and silver hair and a woman who could well be her twin in a different life. Each wore the signature colors of House Targaryen, both standing at the basin of the massive throne-constructed from nothing but swords, causing him to ask just where they all came from-silently conversing with one another.
"Uh, sorry, should I come back later?" he asked drawing their attention.
The man rounded on him and stared intently, memorizing his face.
Naruto tilted his head somewhat nervous. "Hello...?"
"Are you the boy that my little girl told me about?" the man asked as he gazed at the-honestly confused-young man standing before him.
"Told you what about who?" he stifled a yawn behind his hand.
The man growled. "BOY-
The woman smacked the man on the chest and shot him a look, "Calm yourself, husband." when said man subsided with a grunt, she looked to him anew. "Rhaenys, young man, she is our daughter." she spoke cordially to him. "I understand you recently made her acquaintance...?"
Aha~!
"Ah!" Naruto said as he planted his fist into his palm, "So you're her parents, it's nice to meet you." he said with a grin, "Naruto Uzumaki, at your service." he followed this up with a bow-he hated doing the 'noble' stuff, but Granny Tsunade had it beat into him for courtly business if he wanted to become Hokage.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Jocelyn, and this is my husband Aemon." she greeted with a smile, only to turn and see her husband scowling, to which she nudged him in the ribs, "Aemon, dearest, greet our daughters' guest."
Aemon groaned, looking almost uncomfortable by the notion, physically ill at the very concept of it.
Had Naruto known his thoughts, he would've been most wary indeed.
Aemon was a good father. Nay, an excellent father.
And this was a boy.
A man.
The thing that would come claim his baby girl away from his loving embrace. The creature his daughter sang the praises of; she'd been up half the night babbling about the new friend she'd made, of the miracles he had wrought, how she wanted to learn magic from him. And now said boy stood before him, nary the wiser for his own peril. Suffice to say...
HE
WAS
NOT
HAPPY!
Through grit teeth, he bowed his head and looked at him, "A pleasure to meet thee...boy."
Naruto didn't miss the man's anger; strange, why was he angry at him? Seeking safer waters, he tried to turn the subject elsewhere. "Don't suppose either of you have seen Rhaenys...?
Aemon made a noise caught somewhere between a snarl and a sigh.
"She is resting; after all she had quite the night. Leave her be."
Jocelyn shook her head, "Forgive him, he is overprotective," she said turning her gaze to her scowling husband, "When he should know better."
"Well, I guess it's alright seeing as he loves your daughter so much." Naruto said calmly, "So I guess I can't get angry with ya." he finished with a grin. "Wanna be friends?"
Aemon narrowed his eyes at the boy, violet eyes shrinking to near slits. Friends?
With the mongrel who sought to snatch his daughter away?
No. Nay. Never!
Plan B it was then.
He was gonna need some honey.
Pickles.
Feathers.
And maybe a skunk pelt.
He would need to get in contact with both his nephews if he wanted to get it done properly though.
As for Naruto, he sensed a prank coming on, but not from who or where-he was gonna need to prepare.
He was gonna need some beans.
A water bucket filled with tar.
A pair of prunes.
And a feather.
The red keep didn't know it yet, but a Prank War was about to commence.
A/N: Heavily implying that Aemon favors pranks just as much as Naruto. After all, we all know how energetic he was.
And there we have it. Hope you enjoyed this chapter and looking forward to your feedback!

What many people saw as a disability, Naruto saw a point made.
The loss of his arm had done nothing to slow him down. The two unparalleled warrior's clashed steel on steel, their bodies sliding past one another in the sand as they turned back to face each other, swinging their swords at the same time and locked them together for a moment. Naruto ducked under a swipe and shifted the sword in his hand and held it in a reverse grip to stop the next strike.
"HOW!? I watched you burn in Wildfire!" the knight snarled at him, only for Naruto to grin in response.
He pushed back, and spun around as he flipped the sword in his hand back to its normal hold and once more locked blades, "It takes more than a little fire to kill me!" the blond responded, and then with a surge of Chakra, broke the hold they had on one another before kicking the sword out of his enemies hand and into the air. Tossing the sword in the air, Naruto quickly performed a roundhouse that dented the steel plating while sending the knight skidding across the ground, while at the same time, Naruto caught the sword and then lashed out with a kick that struck his opponents sword and sent it flying at him.
The man raised his shield, blinking slightly surprised when the weapon shot through the steel and nearly struck him in the eye. With a grunt, he ripped it out of the puncture and growled as he charged towards the brat and bashed him in the face with his shield causing him to stumble back a couple steps. But, Naruto wasn't easily defeated. He stopped the next shield bash with a foot, and slammed the mans protection into the ground, and pressed, embedding it deeply to the point the straps broke off. Spinning around him, Naruto smashed his elbow into his head, stunning the man as he pulled back and away.
Pieces of steel cracked off his helmet and fell down onto the ground; showing just how hard the knight had been struck by the boy as he was still reeling from the hit. Naruto rotated his wrist, blocking a messy swipe with his sword, spun around and defended his back from a lunge, swiped the sword through the air and redirected the strike aimed at his chest, then locked swords, "This the best you can do boy?" the knight sneered.
"This boy isn't even using a tenth of his true capabilities." Naruto smirked back, "If I wanted, I'd turn you into a crimson smear on the ground." he responded.
"Then why don't you put the gold where your mouth is brat!"
"Alright Kurama, let's do this. You better not be out of shape now!" he called out.
Within his seal, Kurama was actually feeling a bit excited to show his power to this side of the world and he responded with, "Hah! Don't be foolish! I'm always ready to go!" and clasped his hands in a similar fashion as his host did.
Naruto grinned as he cracked his neck, "Right! HAAAAAAHHH~" and he began to unleash more chakra, the sheer potency could now be felt across the continent as Naruto allowed himself to let loose for the first time in two years. Naruto's clones all roared as one as the dome of chakra protecting the bystanders glowed brightly before they began to expand in size and power, rising up into the air and curling around themselves in a fashion many realized to be a dome meant to contain something of incredible power; that being the Tailed Beast Bomb used by Momoshiki.
The citizen's all had to cove their faces as the sheer power threatened to throw them away, the winds blasting them as Naruto roared in what appeared to be a dual voice, "R̸̃́R̸͈̈R̸̘̤̤̀͝Ṟ̷̦͒̾Ạ̵̧̧̙̓Ḁ̸̡̝À̴͇A̷̯A̴̝͔̮Ȃ̴̦̖̖̗̈́͘ͅÀ̵͚͗̋A̴̢̭̟͉͚̔̄A̷͔͚͌R̸̜͔̣͙͒R̵͉̣̿R̵͕̋Ȑ̸͍̪͕R̶͍͎̾͒R̷͇̞͉̙̣G̸̟̞̟̓͐G̸͇̊͒̕Ģ̶̰̩̀̓͗̚͝G̷̞̣̩͍̞̔G̵̰͔Ğ̵̳̟G̸̘̲Ğ̵͍͙͈̬̟̈́̓͘͠H̷̡̜̤H̴̪̺͑H̴̦̽ͅH̴̞͓̿H̸̖͇~!" before his form began to become enshrouded by the sheer output of his power, his hair waved wildly as he expelled incredible levels of raw energy that nearly tore the world around them apart like waves crashing upon the sands.
Before anyone could ask what the hell was going on, a utterly terrifying roar that almost made their hair stand on end resounded through the air causing them to look up and into the nearly transparent energy where the clearly made out the form of a massive canine of sorts, watching as it mimicked the exact motions of Naruto and it caught the large sphere of destructive power, while at the same time the large tails closed over the top, containing any possible fallout or destruction.
It made sense now why these two monsters that attacked called him 'Fox' as the beast itself was indeed a gigantic fox that was more mountain than animal.
As the massive hands caught the dark orb, it was shoved down, the lower portion of its body digging into the ground, ripping up the remaining foundations of the battleground. As the orb slowed to a halt, the tails finished closing up at the top, and just in time as a loud explosion filled the air.
"What, you want a piece of me!?" Naruto called out as Caraxes hissed at him, his maw filling with flame.
The hissing got fiercer, and with a roar, both struck one another, but only one succeeded. Caraxes' head shot back and up as Naruto snapped his fist into the crimson dragon's lower jaw.
"You think I'm afraid of you, a lizard with wings, I ain't scared of nothing!" the blond growled.
"So... let me see if I got this straight...you want me, to use a hammer?"
"Yea, I mean you told me that you can use lightning, air, and water right, I'd figured you like it." Rhaenys pointed out.
"Be that as it may, that is a terrible joke, but I'll see what it can do."
"Mjolnir, it was named Mjolnir." Rhaenys smiled at him.
"'Mjolnir, I like it." he said smiling, "You know what, it suits it."
"I can't marry her, she's fifteen!" Naruto panicked.
"Hey, I'm sixteen turning seventeen on the morrow, thank you very much." she rebutted him.
"That don't make it any better!" he squawked.
"It's two years difference, what's it matter to you?" she crossed her arms under her chest.
"I'm 19 years old, there is a very big reason."
"And, this is my choice, and I have chosen."
"You might as well give her what she wants, she won't stop til you do." another voice stated.
"Thank you Daemon." Rhaenys smirked.
