Chapter Eleven: Epilogue
Two years later
Bakugou Tsu blinked several times. It took her a moment to chase the sleep from her dark tired eyes. She was beyond exhausted, but she knew it would still take her a moment to be able to rest finally. It has been like this for two days now. She was tired and needed to rest, but it felt like her body fought against her brain at least until her daily visitor didn't return.
Her eyes remained glued to the TV above her hospital bed. It was muted, but she could still make out most of what was said by reading lips or body language. She was always good with that especially when it came to a certain person.
Midoriya Izuku and Bakugou Katsuki were sitting in front of the reporters and answering their seemingly long and never-ending questions.
She smiled seeing the annoyed scowl playing across the ash-blond's face. He got better at keeping his cool and merely showing his displeasure by the sour look on his face rather than dropping an f-bomb or threatening to kill someone, but there were still instances where he scared people enough that he needed Izuku to sigh and hold him back so he wouldn't blow up the place or jump between the crowd.
Typical, she thought to herself playfully before glancing down at the newborn slowly falling asleep inside her arms. He was quiet now. Although Tsu had known him for less than three days now, she noticed it was usually how he got after he grew tired. He had almost all the same features, and yet it seemed he wasn't going to be as grumpy as his father. She hoped it wouldn't come later. She loved her husband beyond words, but she would like her son to have a better personality and an easier time making friends.
She smiled at the newborn feeling happy when she could sense his weight in her arms and watched his calm expression, 'Good if your smile is as pretty as your dad's you shouldn't hide it behind a frown, kero.'
The darkish eyes glanced at her with interest like he was listening, but he didn't smile just yet. That was alright. He was just born after all, and Tsu recalled well how long it took her to get Katsuki to smile openly at her. She was good in waiting for Bakugou men to be comfortable enough to smile. She was a pro after all and from experience knew it was worth the wait.
'Oi, don't mock him so much,' she heard from the door. She didn't really hear anyone enter the hospital room, but it was no surprise given how tired she was, and how scattered her thoughts felt. It would have trouble her. During her last months of pregnancy, she grew oddly anxious and scared over things that never bothered her before. But luckily, Katsuki saw no issue with this, easily putting all her worries to rest with improvements and actions that made the sea-green-haired woman love him even more.
The ash-blond was wearing his outdoor clothing now. No monkey suit as he told her when he called to tell her he was heading toward Deku to make their announcement. It was similar to the one they made two years ago, but coincidently, Tsu could not attend this one, as she had gone into labor almost three weeks earlier. Katsuki calmed her down that it was better that way since he didn't like the idea, she would be surrounded by media in such a high state of pregnancy and at least he could be by her side during labor. Unlike Izuku, Katsuki refused to let anyone else, see his son before him after he was born.
'Give him at least a chance to learn to talk back to you, Tsu' he said heading toward her bed.
She smiled at him. She didn't really feel stressed, but the moment, he was back with them, she couldn't help but feel a weight of some heavy load leave her chest area and make it easier to breathe, 'Welcome back.'
Katsuki sat on the side of the bed, careful not to crush her leg, and leaned closer to her and their son, 'Someone's sleepy. Guess, you don't mind when mommy teases you, little one.'
The sea-green-haired currently on maternity leave heroine glanced down and truly saw the newborn's eyelids growing heavier and heavier until they finally closed, 'Hm, looks like Hiro-chan wanted to wait for his daddy. You shouldn't take that for granted, Katsu-chan.'
He nodded and without a word reached for the baby. The first time she tried to hand him over, Katsuki was so shaken they needed to wait a few minutes before he felt brave enough to do so even after having Midoriya Nagi in his arms when he was roughly the same weight and age. This time, it seemed the current Number Two Hero was far braver in handling the child, 'I'm not.'
He held little Hiro close to his chest watching the tiny human sleeping. The image was enough for Tsu to lean back and close her own eyes. Finally, she felt like the exhaustion was getting the best of her, 'Did the announcement go okay?'
'Sure, Hero Association assho-'
'Katsu-chan,' she sighed and opened her eyes as much as her current state allowed her.
She saw the ash-blond roll his eyes and heard him hiss, 'Meanies-'
It made her giggle a bit.
'-were so happy Izuku was stepping up again, they told me I was free to work on a second and third kid if I wanted to. They wouldn't mind.'
Tsu smiled some more before she sighed, 'They're just teasing, and let's see how we manage this one before we start to work on another one.'
She closed her eyes again, but she could tell he rolled his eyes again, but a moment later she felt him lean forward and stroke her hair a bit. She must have looked horrible, but Katsuki never once complained or mocked her about it, 'Obviously. But we'll have more than Deku.'
'Obviously, kero,' she whispered teasingly, but she knew it was a fact. She still recalled their discussion from two years ago, when he told her he was beating his rival in this as well.
Her dark eyes opened and looked at her husband and son while softly smiling, 'Was I right?'
Katsuki looked away from their sleeping child back at her and waited for her to finish.
She smiled knowingly, 'Is baby smell the best?'
For a hot minute, it seemed he didn't really understand what she meant before she saw something spark in his red eyes, and he offered her a beautiful smile, she knew he had reserved just for her and now their son, 'Yeah, Froggy. Baby smell is the fucking best.'
She was too content to remind him he shouldn't swear so much now. She would do so after she woke up again.
She closed her eyes feeling the bed dip under his weight as he leaned toward her. Like a ghost, he pressed a feather-like kiss against her forehead making her hum in satisfaction at how nice it made her feel. She was so exhausted and sore but having both of her boys with her made it all wash away. She couldn't believe she got so lucky. She couldn't believe she gained all of this because of forgotten a few pieces of paper two years ago.
'Thank you, Tsu,' she heard him whisper with unmasked gratitude and love she felt every damn day because of him, 'I love you.'
Her eyelids were too heavy to open, so she just sighed, 'I love you too.'
'Take all the time you need. I'll keep you both safe. Promise.'
Her fingers found his hand and easily slid between his. She didn't really help him hold Hiro, but it made her feel good to touch them both as exhaustion slowly took her away, 'I know you will, Katsu-chan, kero.'
