Chapter- 0.5. The Marauders.

Chapter Starts

Summer has began. Petunia will now be getting in her fourth year while Lucius will be in his sixth year. Lily will now be entering in her 2nd year. Lily is already in top of her classes along with the marauders.

Severus is now informed of her mother's condition by his head of house Pr.Slughorn and is warned to be careful arround her. This frustates him as he is now isolated from his own family and even his two friends which are his real friends are now separated from him due to rivalry in houses. Though Lily and Petunia say that they will always be his friends.

Petunia has already written to Lucius twice. The two are now a couple apparently but since no one has asked the one out they are not official.

Lily always wonders that how the four boys in her house who call themselves Marauders are always on top despite being the ones who always get in trouble and usually spend their time in detention or pranking others.

Marauders have now grown very close. Although they were a bit suspicious of how Remus manages to get home or better that how Remus's relative get to manage in some serious condition and Remus gets leave four a few days every month. Is it that simple ?

Lily's POV:

Summers are boring. Tunney is busy in her homework and I have already finished as mine was much less. Next week we will be going to Diagon alley.

Today we are gonna go to Diagon alley. As we approached the leaky cauldron , I found Severus over there with Pr.Slughorn. " Hi Sev ! " I exclaimed. He waved his hand . " I thought you will be coming here next week.' " Oh yeah but my mum will be busy this month so Pr.Slughorn kindly consented to escort me here." As he finished Pr. Slughorn glanced at Sev once but then nodded in agreement. I found Sev's behaviour a bit strange. I thought he is hiding something from me but Tunney didn't mind much. Does she know something which I don't. But yes she is hiding at least something. Why the two of my favorites are hiding stuff from me.

Tunney and Dad were purchasing new robes from Madam Malkin's shop as she needs new one this year. Her height has increased significantly. I found Marlene my friend and dorm mate from Hogwarts. So we found ourselves in Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour for an ice cream treat. Then I found the students I can barely tolerate. The marauders or so they called themselves. However, they say this name was given by Pr. Mcgonagall. There is one with long black hairs , very mischievous named Sirius Black. He belongs to one of the most ancient pureblood family. His whole family is in Slytherin but he ended up in Gryffindor. Then there is a Raven haired boy which are mess by the way named James Potter who is also pureblood and is an arrogant toe rag!! Then there is a boy who usually acts like of leave their group he can't survive named Peter Pettigrew. At last there is a shaby looking boy named Remus Lupin. Something is off about him. He is mysterious. Although he is the most tolerable one , and the only of them whom I found actually studying. He is nice always try to stop them from bulling innocent ones but not try very hard as he too believes that if he try that , he will loose his friends. I and Remus are friends since he is the only one of them whom I can talk actually.

Narrator's POV:

They came in where I was sitting. " Hello Flower girl" spoke James in a teasing voice. " What is it Potter ? " Lily snapped without even turning back to see who has spoken to her. " Looks like someone is angry James " said Sirius in teasing voice. They all laughed while James blushed a little. " Spit it out what do you want! " said Lily directly seeing into his eyes. " All I want is you Lily come out with me " said James in much serious voice with a grin in his face. " How come you ever thought that I will be with someone like you " said Lily and turned her back walking away making Marlene realise that she should follow her. James was still seeing lily.' I will marry her.' muttered James. " I don't think so " said Remus.

Back there at Apothecary was Snape buying his potions stuff while Slughorn was inside the shop talking with merchant. The four boys were standing near the shop. Snape heard their conversation and he found himself in rage. Not to mention his dislike for Gryffindor. He left the shop and just collided with James. Leading both of them to fall. " Sorry I just didn't see you " said Snape in not so apologetic tone. " Oh it's snivellus and I know that you did it knowingly. " said Sirius with a mischievous look in his face. " And I think you will have to pay for that. " Said Pettigrew. " Guys relax " said Lupin but in vain as James has risen and his wand was pointing towards Severus. Soon Sirius too raised his wand only to hear "Is there a problem over there " said Slughorn in a stern tone. " Sir it's just Snape he collided with me knowingly." replied James. " That does not mean you both will eat each other . And I think Mr. Snape has apologized already . " Horace continued. " But sir.." "No buts Mr. Black the discussion is over you all may leave and Mr.Snape come with me I think the only thing left is your books. " Said the potions master. Snape nodded and followed but glanced at the four boys with a grin on his face.

" Why is slughorn with snivellus! " Said Sirius. " No idea may his parents are busy or something." Possible " and the boys left for their own shopping.

Sirius Black was a part of a extremist pureblood family. The Blacks believe that being pureblood is everything. They have even married their second cousins in order to maintain blood purity. Blacks is one of the families which have supported the dark lord just because they want to have a purebloods.

Black family believed strongly in pure-blood elitism. They refused to consort with Muggles or Muggle-borns, Squibs, and blood traitors and even disowned Squib family members, such as Sirius's great-uncle Marius Black, and insisted that their family members only marry within respectable pure-blood classes; because of these beliefs, they were forced to marry their own cousins. They also held the Dark Arts in reverence.Sirius rejected these values, leading to conflict with his family. He even put permanent-sticking charms of Gryffindor banners, as well as pictures of Muggle girls in bikinis and motorcycles, as well as a picture of himself and his Gryffindor friends on the walls of his room to emphasise his differences from the family and annoy his parents.Sirius had an unhappy childhood; by adolescence he had come to hate most of his relatives, in particular his mother Walburga and his cousin Bellatrix Black. Whereas all other members of the Black family were Sorted into Slytherin, Sirius was placed in Gryffindor during his Sorting showing that his views had already diverged from those of the rest of the family before his years at school.

Sirius also has a brother named Regulus to whom he was close in childhood. However, they have drifted apart since his sorting in gryffindor. Sirius was brave to oppose his family openly however , Regulus was not. Although he did not completely believed in his parents' beliefs he kept quiet and not opposed them. They also had cousins the daughters of Druella and Cygnus Black. Eldest was Bellatrix who was extremist pureblood and openly supported Voldemort and even became a death Eater, being the only one among Blacks as others although supported him but never became death eaters. She even married another death Eater Rodolphus Lestrange in her pure blood beliefs. Next was Sirius's favourite cousin Andromeda who married a Muggleborn Ted Tonks and was later considered blood traitor and the Blacks removed her from the family. Last was Narcissa Black who was youngest of them. She never wanted to be a death Eater and support Voldemort she did it for family. But she was an extremist pureblood and prejudiced against muggleborns.

Remus was born to Lyall and Hope Lupin. His father worked at the Ministry of Magic and encountered the werewolf Fenrir Greyback, who was being questioned for killing two Muggle children. Lyall was the only one at court to realise that Greyback was a werewolf, as Greyback pretended to be a Muggle tramp. Outraged when Greyback was released, he voiced the opinion that Greyback deserved nothing but death.

This opinion cost the Lupin family dearly, as Greyback decided to revenge himself upon Lyall by targeting his son. As the nearly five-year-old Remus slept peacefully in his bed, Greyback forced his way in through the window. Though Lyall was able to get there in time to drive Greyback off with powerful spells, he was unable to prevent him from completing his evil goal. Remus became infected with lycanthropy and he became a werewolf himself.[1]

His parents took him to various healers and tried their best to make him a normal boy again, but there was no cure for his condition. But Headmaster Albus Dumbledore made special accommodations allowing Remus to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was sorted into Gryffindor House. To secure his safety, as well as that of his peers, Remus would be brought to the Shrieking Shack once a month for his transformations in order to prevent him from attacking other students. However, this isolation caused him to attack himself out of frustration. This, and the painful monthly transformations, made the villagers of Hogsmeade mistake his screams for that of violent ghosts. Dumbledore, wanting to keep the truth of these noises a secret, encouraged these rumours. Thus, the building was dubbed the Shrieking Shack, which held the reputation for being the most haunted building in Britain.Remus became the very best of friends with fellow Gryffindors Sirius Black, James Potter, and Peter Pettigrew. He kept his status as a werewolf a secret from all of the students at Hogwarts, including Sirius, James, and Peter, his fellow Marauders and future Order members. He made up stories to explain his monthly disappearances, such as that his mother was ill and he needed to go home to visit her. He was terrified that they would desert him once they found out what he truly was.

Peter was a halfblood wizard. Pettigrew began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry . During his Sorting Ceremony, the Sorting Hat wavered between placing him in Slytherin or Gryffindor. After a deliberation of more than five minutes (making Pettigrew a Hatstall), the Hat decided to sort him into Gryffindor.

He soon became friends with Sirius Black, James Potter, and Remus Lupin, fellow Gryffindors he idolised for their popularity and talents. Pettigrew took part in James's and Sirius's bullying of Severus Snape, a Slytherin boy in the same year as the Marauders.

James Potter was born to Fleamont Potter and his wife Euphemia. Fleamont was an accomplished, yet retired cosmetic potioneer and entrepreneur best known for inventing Sleekeazy's Hair Potion in 1926. Both Fleamont and Euphemia were elderly even by wizarding standards.

Having been conceived so late in his parents' lives, he was raised in a doting household with little material limits, and pampered a great deal. Hence, it was no surprise that he grew to be proud, arrogant, and boastful, but deep down still a good person. James started his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the school year and was sorted into Gryffindor House. While there, he befriended fellow Gryffindors Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, and together they formed a small gang known only to themselves as the Marauders. Though more mischievous than diligent, James proved to be a clever student.

The four boys were best friends. Both Sirius and James had noticed that how Remus disappears every month in their first year and vowed with Peter to find the actual reason in this year.

A/n: Another chapter finished. Although it does not make the story much ahead it shows deep understanding of marauders , Snape's dislike and rivalry from them and Lily's initial opinions about them. Next chapter will be very important from story POV and great amount of shift from canon may take place. Till that stay tuned.
