Important Fact: This version of Ben Tennyson is different from the one in Ultimate Aliens. In this universe there will be no Hybrid invasion and therefore no reason for him to put the Omnitrix back on. No appearances of alien villains or etc as a result (though who knows, maybe that'll change in the future seasons). As for human villains that however may be a possibility but it's not clear.
Chapter 2: Campers Rising and Falling part 1
An image came on screen as a camera showcased a dock that led to the sea was. There was a small island in sight, a couple of large rocks in the water and a cliff connected to the mainland. The sounds of a gentle breeze and small waves were all that could be heard until…
"Yo!" Chris McLean popped up from below as he greeted the camera and viewing audience with a smile. "For those of you who have the terrible misfortune of not knowing who I am. I'm Chris McLean and I'll be your host for this undoubtedly awesome season." He gestured to his surroundings. "I'm coming to you from Camp Wawanakwa, located somewhere in Muskota Ontario. Where we will be holding the first season of the hottest new television show."
An icon with the name of the show flashed on the screen, before returning to show Chris.
Chris began to walk down the dock as he explained the show. "In this isolated island far away from civilization we'll have 24 campers who signed up to participate. All of whom were carefully chosen to provide a diverse cast of competitors. These 24 contestants will be spending 9 whole weeks on this crummy camp. Where they will be competing against each other in rigorous challenges and facing the judgement of their fellow campers."
He stopped when he reached the middle of the dock as the camera zoomed in on his face.
"Every 3 days one team will either win a reward or say goodbye to one of their teammates." He then gestured to the dock he was on. "Where said teammate will walk what I've taken the liberty of calling: The Dock of Shame. Once they do, a boat will take them away and they can never come back… eeeveeeeer!" he punctuated the last word.
The image changed to show a campfire site where twelve stumps were lined up in two rows of six. There was a metal barrel and an old wooden hanging sign which was completely faded.
Chris popped up from behind a large boulder as he gestured to the area.
"This is where the losing competitors will decide their fate as they cast their votes for who will get the boot. In every ceremony one camper will receive a marshmallow and the that doesn't is gone. This will continue until only one is left standing. The one that remains will receive cheesy tabloid fame." He emphasized by showing several of the same magazine before putting them away and showing a small treasure chest full of gold and jewels. "And most importantly a small fortune which I'm pretty sure they wouldn't even make it last over a week."
Chris stopped in front of the metal barrel and ate one of the marshmallows in a stick before addressing the camera again. "To survive they'll have to battle: blackflies, grizzly bears, toxic plants, venomous insects, the harsh environment, disgusting food, each other and more things you won't expect."
The imagery changed to show several hidden cameras throughout the island. One in an owl's nest, bird's next, roof of the cabins and several other places some people couldn't believe.
"Every moment they spend here will be captured by one several hundreds of cameras hidden all over the island." Chris said before raising two fingers. "Except for the public bathroom and inside their cabin's. Cause let's face it, no one wants to see them sleeping or taking dumps in the can. So, who's going to be the first one to crumble? Find out today on Total… Drama… Island!"
The scene zoomed out with each of his final three words to show the size of the entire island. It then zoomed back to normal, showing Chris again who was in the middle of the dock.
"However, we can't start a game without players so let's bring in our competitors." The host said as he turned to the dock and smirked at the camera. "By the way we told these poor saps they'd be staying in a 5-star hotel. So, if you hear them complaining and swearing, now you know why. Now then let's meet our first camper!"
A boat was shown suddenly docked at the end as it dropped off someone before quickly departing. The person was revealed to be a relatively short girl with black eyes, brown hair tied into a ponytail with a pink hairband and braces. She wore a green shirt that reached her mid thighs and was tied in a knot on the side for some reason. Had on a pair of pink jeans, cream-colored sneakers, and square shaped glasses. She carried a yellow suitcase with brown floral patterns on it.
"Welcome to the island Beth." Chris greeted the first contestant who responded by running up to him in excitement and pulling him into a hug that the host didn't expect nor want.
"It's so incredulous to meet you, Chris!" Beth spoke in exhilaration before pulling away and then looking at him as if realizing something. "Huh, your much shorter in real life that I thought."
"Ugh… thanks?" The host said almost uncomfortably before pointing behind him. "Go stand over there." receiving a silent nod from Beth before she got her luggage and went there.
Another boat that looked identical to the first one dropped of the next contestant. It was an exceptionally tall and fit Jamaican where Chris only reached up to his collar. He had brown hair, a short beard and wore a small white cap that made the host think it looked like a kippah for a bar mitzva. He was wearing a green t-shirt with brown D in the middle. The collar, sleeve cuff and body hem of his shirt were white. Lastly, he had on a pair of grey shorts and open toed shoes. In each hand was a long black and blue bag respectively.
"DJ!" Chris greeted the tall teen as he walked over.
DJ put his bag's down and gave the man a high five. "Yo Chris McLean how you doing?" he then started looking around at the place and got a puzzled look. "You sure this is the right place? Where's the hot tub at?"
"No mistake dawg, this is the place. Camp Wawanakwa." Christ gestured to the whole place as DJ picked up his bags and walked to where Beth was while muttering how the place looked a lot different on the application form.
Another identical boat dropped off the next contestant was a girl who could be described in one word, goth. Despite that however she could be considered attractive as she had both black eyes and hair with clearly dyed shades of both teal and turquoise streaks. She wore matching teal lipstick and was wearing a unique looking long sleeve shirt. It was blue colored and then went into green on the long sleeves which stopped past her elbows. The shirt seemed a bit short on the bottom which showed some of her cleavage and area between her hips and waistline. She wore a black and tiffany blue colored skirt where the black was shaped like a T that went around her waist and a black corset over her shirt which hugged her figure. Black stockings hugged her legs nicely which went all the way up her skirt and finally wore long black boots almost reached her knees. She had a large black bag and a beige backpack in hand.
"Our next contestant is Gwen." Chris identified as he greeted her. "How you doing?"
"You mean this is where we're staying?" Gwen questioned in a clearly unhappy tone.
"Correction." Chris raised a finger and pointed it at her. "It's where you'll be staying." he then pointed somewhere in the distance. "Where I'm staying is inside a sweet airstream with A.C., television, a full stocked fridge and a fully soft bed."
"I did not sign up for this, the application said it would be a nice hotel." Gwen complained while giving the host a look.
Chris shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah, that was a trap to lure contestants to the show." He then brought out a large stack of papers. "Should've read the contract you signed but you didn't so now your bound by law to compete." Gwen quickly took the contract and tore it up before throwing it off the dock. She looked to Christ with a smirk only to see him smirk back at her as he suddenly pulled out another copy seemingly from out of nowhere. "The great thing about lawyers besides winning me money from suing someone is that they make A LOT of copies of contracts."
"You can't make me stay here." Gwen still said in defiance.
"I don't think I'll need to since your ride is already gone." Chris said while pointing behind her and the goth turned to see the boat that brought her had already left. It then gave a few honks on its departure that might as well have been saying (so long sucker) to mock her further. "So, unless you want to swim back to civilization, I'd say you're stuck here."
"Jerk!" Gwen said before getting her bags and going to the others, resigning herself to her fate.
Before Chris could respond he heard party music playing from the next boat. A teen you could call a party boy was dancing on top. He was a blonde with blue eyes, wearing an olive-green hat and had a pointy chin. He wore an unbuttoned open pink shirt that showed his well-toned abs. Lastly, he had on a pair of blue shorts and sandals while a large brown bag with several stickers was beside him. As soon as the boat docked the guy flipped himself to the front of the boat before doing another and lading perfectly on the harbor. His bag was thrown to him by an intern before the ship began to leave and the blonde contestant waved goodbye.
"Chris McLean! What's up man?" the new guy called out while walking up to him and offering him a fist bump which the host returned. "It's an honor to meet you at last man."
"The Jeff-ster, welcome to the island my man." Chris welcomed him.
"Thanks man." Geoff said appreciatively.
Gwen rolled her eyes. "If I hear them say the word man one more time I'm going to puke." She loud enough for only Beth and DJ to hear her. Thankfully they didn't as she saw Geoff give a high five to Chris before going over to them as the next contestant arrived.
The word bombshell was the perfect description for her. She was a tall girl with baby blue eyes and long blonde hair that reached her waist. She wore a blue bandana on her head and a strapless red top with a brown strap top over it which showed her large cleavage. A short orange skirt was wrapped around her waist while she wore high cowboy boots. She was pulling a pink bag on wheels.
"Everyone this is Lindsay." Chris identified before whispering into the camera. "Not too shabby am I right people?" he said while wiggling an eyebrow knowingly.
"Hi." Lindsay greeted as she approached the host. "Do I know you?" she asked with a hand to chin in thought. "You look so familiar for some reason."
"I'm Chris McLean." He identified only to receive silence as she still looked at him in unrecognition. He frowned before saying. "You know, the host of this show?"
It took a second before realization finally came to her. "Oh yeah, that's where I know you from."
Chris gave her a deadpan look. "Yeah… go stand with the others over there."
"Ok." Lindsay simply said before doing just that.
"That girl clearly has some vacancy in her head." Gwen thought on how the girl was clearly a perfect example of a dumb blond. The sound of another motorboat broke her thought as she and the others turned to see the next contestant.
Immediately the word mean came to the mind of mostly everyone. A girl with black hair that reached her waist stepped on the dock. She wore a plum-colored top that completely left her midriff exposed and had a circular ring in the middle that tied around her neck. She had on olive green shorts that seemed way shorter than normal, mid-sized heels and black sunglasses that seemed to do little to hide the look intense behind them. Which was soon revealed when she removed them showing her black eyes and face which seemed to carry traces of Asian.
"Heather." Christ greeted her only to receive silence as she walked past him towards the others and was greeted by Beth who reeled back in disgust because she was spitting a bit as a result.
Immediately everyone heard punk rock music playing as the next contestant was arriving. Ironically the word punk was the first thing that would come to mind. The next contestant was a guy with blue eyes, near buzzcut trimmed black hair with a green dyed mohawk shaped like a fin and quite a few piercings. Two of which were on his left ear, one on his right ear, one on the base of his nose and two more on his left eyebrow. He had a unibrow and a small black beard shaped square bellow his lip. He wore a spiky black collar around his neck, a long sleeve shirt that was primarily black with cream highlight sleeves and a cartoonish face of a skull or cranium of some kind. Lastly, he had blue jeans and wore a pair red- and cream-colored sneakers. He threw his large olive colored duffle bag on the dock before jumping off the boat and greeting everyone with a menacing looking sneer. All the contestants except Gwen and Heather took a tentative step back.
"Duncan." The host welcomed him only stop when he saw the guy raise his fist threateningly.
"I don't like surprises." Duncan made it clear.
"Yeah, your parole officer warned me about that." Chris replied before giving his classic mischief smile. "He also said I should give him a call, anytime you step out of line so he can throw you back into juvie."
Duncan's nostrils flared as he inhaled air before he seemed to take a more relaxed look. "Whatever man." He said before picking up his bag and walking past the host. He gave a small look of interest at Heather as he passed her before saying. "Meet you by the campfire gorgeous."
"Drop dead you goof." Heather responded without looking his way. She began to make her way to her reclaim her bag from the pile. "I'm so not staying in this dump; I'm calling my parents get me out of here."
Chris pulled out Heather's contract but before he could remind her about it a honking sound was heard. They turned to see a fast-approaching boat with the next contestant. Except said person wasn't riding on the boat but was pulled by rope from it while skiing.
The new competitor was a guy who brought the word athlete to everyone's minds. He had brown eyes and hair with noticeably long sideburns. The thing that made others think he was an athlete other than because he was skiing was due to his red tracksuit with workout pants and a matching red headband to go along with his red sneakers and outfit.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome our next competitor, Tyler." Chris said almost excitedly for some reason.
So sooner that the host finished his sentence did Tyler's feet seem to slip back, causing his skiing to fly off. Now without support balance, his body fell forward, and he lost his grip on the rope. His frame suddenly spinning like a wheel on the water as he headed for the dock. Once he reached and crashed into it, he somehow seemed to bounce out and go flying over the head of the host and competitors. And came crashing right into the pile of luggage as one back got knocked into the air and came crashing on top of Heathers head. The poor girl got dazed and accidentally stepped too far back and fell off the dock and into the water.
"Ahhh my clothes!" Heather cried out angrily.
"Nice." Gwen thought with a small smile.
Duncan on the other hand was laughing. "Hahahaha oh man that was great!"
"Wicked wipeout man!" Chris called over in delight.
"Totally man, that was epic!" Geoff agreed as he had seen quite a few wipe outs in his life. Mostly from people skateboarding or surfing but this guy's topped them all no question.
The hand of Tyler emerged from the pile and formed a thumbs up showing he was ok and appreciation. DJ, Geoff and even Duncan returned the thumbs up even though he couldn't see it currently. A displeased Heater climbed back onto the dock and held herself due to the sudden cold she felt. Chris chuckled at the sight of her first misery before he paused once he heard someone exhaling behind him.
Turns out it was from the next contestant who could clearly be called a nerd. It was a scrawny looking guy with reddish brown hair and black eyes hidden behind green tinted glasses, there were a few hairs on his chin. He wore a blue shirt with a picture of a burger of some kind with green sleeves. He had on a light shade of brownish green pants and large sneakers. He was carrying a musical keyboard under his arm while his bag was on the floor.
"Welcome to the camp, Harold." Chris welcomed him like he's been doing so far. Harold didn't reply however as his eyes roamed around the place.
"What's he looking at?" Beth asked DJ only to get an 'I don't know' shoulder shrug from him.
"Maybe he's deaf." Duncan remarked earning looks from the others.
"There's no way they'd put a deaf contestant on the show dummy." Heather rebuked his words before pausing in thought. "Would they?"
The nerd looking competitor finally stopped glancing around before looking at the host. "So, you mean the show is going to take place in this crappy looking campsite instead of some hotel or fancy stage?"
"Yep." Chris simply said.
Harold suddenly gave an air fist pump. "Yes! That's so much more favorable to my mad skills." He said before picking up his bag and walking to the others. Chris gave a wince showing he had been either creeped out or disgusted by the nerd.
Duncan snickered to himself after hearing the nerd. "What skills lamo."
The next boat quickly dropped the next one. This time it was a somewhat cool looking guy with and green eyes. He wore a beige shirt with camo-colored sleeves and a black painted handprint on his chest. He had black jeans and beige colored shoes. He was carrying a huge blue backpack that looked like it should've been held by DJ. He also had a large guitar shaped case in hand.
"And our 9th contestant is… Trent." Chris introduced as he walked up to him.
"Hey, nice to meet you in person man." Trent greeted him. "By the way I saw you on that figure skating show, nice work by the way." He then exchanged a fist bump shake with the host which he happily returned.
"Thanks man." Chris said in appreciation. "I knew I rocked that show!" he told the camera as if saying; I told you so.
"Oh, I remember that." Beth said in recollection frowning a bit at the next bit she said. "One of the guys dropped his partner on her head, so they got immunity that way.
"Lucky, I hope I get dropped on my head." Harold said.
"Me too." Lindsay added as well.
"Consider it done." Duncan quickly said right before he suddenly lifted the nerd over his head and then threw him headfirst into the water. The others got stunned looks at that.
"What the heck did you do that for?" Beth questioned the punk.
"He was hoping for it, so I gave it to him." Duncan smirked while clapping his hands as if wiping off dirt.
"But I was hoping for it too?" Lindsay tilted her head in confusion for her exclusion.
Duncan gave the hot blond an obvious look. "Yeah, but you wouldn't be caught by surprise now after I threw the first person so there wasn't much point."
Lindsay said nothing for a moment as her eyes seemed to stare into space. Then they lite up in realization and she gave a small laugh. "Oh yeah, I get it now."
Duncan sweat dropped at her slowness. "Then again maybe I should've done it to her as well." His eyes subconsciously trailed over her the blondes alluring figure. "I certainly wouldn't mind having her in my arms for moment."
"That still wasn't cool." Gwen remarked with arms crossed.
Duncan shrugged his shoulders at her unbothered. "Hey at least I didn't throw him headfirst on the floor."
"I personally think that was funny." Chris mentioned while holding his stomach for almost laughing out loud before turning to Trent. "What about you, did you find that funny?"
"Umm." The guitar player dragged as if unsure. "I'm undecided." He said before going to stand by the others. He got between Geoff and Gwen when he saw an open space between them. He looked to the attractive goth and gave her a greeting smile. She immediately looked away from him with a frown but then got a small smile as her eyes wandered back to him. A displeased Harold climbed back onto the dock and glared at Duncan.
"Ohhh could this perhaps be the first potential couple of Total Drama." Chris thought after seeing the goth's reaction. Couples on the show were great gossip topics for viewers, especially if the pair became popular and well liked. Makes for great ratings and who knows what possibilities could come from it.
The hosts train of thought was interrupted when he heard the next boat approach. Immediately the word surfer came to everyone's mind due to the large red and orange surfboard that the contender carried. It was a sweet looking girl with blonde hair tied into a large ponytail that reached waist. She had soft green eyes, wore a long sleeve blue hooded shirt and hiking shorts. Once the boat docked, she gently jumped down and approached Chris.
"Alright, our surfer chick Bridgette has arrived." The host identified.
Duncan however scoffed while rolling his eyes. "Nice board but this isn't Malibu honey."
Bridgette didn't seem bothered by the rude comment. "I thought we were going to be by a beach?"
"Oh we are." Chris agreed before pointing in the distance. "And there it is."
The surfer's eyes followed and saw a spot of the islands shore. It was a mess as the spot was littered with pieces of wood, broken bottles, soda cans, tires and barrels. There was even a seagull that had a blank look on its face with a soda plastic pack ring wrapped tightly around its neck. A small wave came and pulled the bird further away from shore, yet it still didn't react at all. She disturbingly wondered if the poor bird was even alive.
Immediately the surfer got a bit down casted and sighed. "Just great…"
"Okay then with Bridgette here we're now up to- Owww!" Chris stopped in mid-sentence when the surfers board bonked him on the head when she bent down to pick up her bag. "That hurt." He whined as Bridgette just walked past him and the host gave her a suspicious look. "Did she do that on purpose?"
"Hi guys." Bridgette greeted her fellow contestants.
Geoff wasted no time in greeting the girl almost enthusiastically as he dashed beside her. "Hey… I'm Geoff."
"What's up." She greeted back while turning to face the boy. Which caused Trent, Harold and Duncan to duck to avoid getting bonked on their heads by her board like Chris had.
"Jeez." Harold huffed "Watch it with that board man."
"No kidding." Trent agreed.
Beth however also approached the surfer. "Hi I'm Beth." She greeted her welcomely.
Bridgette turned to her, once again causing her board to nearly hit the guys as they ducked just in time once more.
"Is she really not aware of her board almost harming us?" the three guys unknowingly all thought at once.
Heather squeezed her hair like a wet towel as she was wringing the water off. "Ok so we met surfer girl, can we just start this show on the road already? Cause I'm getting bored just standing here."
"Nooo we can't cause we're not done bringing in everyone yet." Chris told the girl with an obvious look.
"Did somebody miss their double mocha cappuccino macchiato this morning?" Duncan teased.
"Get bent." Heather told the punk.
Before the punk could comment back to her the next boat dropped the following contestant. It was another skinny boy that seemed to have a nerdish feel to him but in a bookworm kind of way. Unlike Harold however he had darker skin, hair and eyes that were both brown and a more pleasant face despite the dull expression he currently had. He looked to be of Indian descent and was wearing a red sweater vest that was over a blue collared short sleeved shirt. For some reason he also chose to wear a white long-sleeved shirt underneath all that. It made everyone wonder how he wasn't feeling suffocated with that many layers of clothing on him. He had olive green jeans and wore shoes that were white stripped and a darker shade of green.
"Our next camper is… Noah!" Chris welcomed while running his head where Bridgette's board hit him. Dang that thing still hurt a bit and he still wondered if she did it on purpose.
Noah walked up to him. "Did you get my memo about all my life-threatening allergies?" he asked in a dull tone despite the serious topic regarding his health and wellbeing.
Chris scoffed. "Oh, I'm sure someone did, after all we can't have our campers dying or getting hospitalized from our neglect." He then thought. "That's a lawsuit I don't need on my hands."
"So is this really where we'll be staying?" Noah asked while walking towards the other competitors as he took in the surroundings.
Duncan smirked while cracking his knuckles as he addressed the new guy. "No, it's your mother's house and we're throwing a party. Which we'll leave very messy for you to clean up afterwards."
Noah stopped in front of Duncan with his dull look still undisturbed. "Real cute. Nice piercings by the way, you do them yourself?" he asked sarcastically.
Suddenly Duncan got an annoyed as he quickly grabbed Noah's lower lip and pulled it forward. In his other hand was a needle that he pulled from who knows where which he aimed downward. "As a matter of fact, I did! Care to receive one yourself!?" he threateningly asked while bringing the needle a bit closer.
Despite the threat Noah still didn't lose his composure which impressed some of the others. "No thanks, can I have my lip back please." He responded to the punkish competitor who released it and it slapped back into place. Noah rubbed his lower lip hopping he didn't get a mucocele as a result.
"He's got nerve I'll give him that much." Trent thought at seeing the display.
"Dude's keeping it cool." Geoff thought at seeing Noah not lose it for even a second.
The sound of the next boats arrival broke their thoughts as they all turned to see the next person arriving. It was a black girl with dark hair and brown eyes who possessed what you'd call a big boned body with an impressive sized chest and booty. She wore a beige colored shirt with what looked like four oranges, tangerines, or some other kind of orange fruit. Her black hair which reached her upper back was held back into a noticeably large ponytail by a matching beige hairband. She had a beauty mark beneath her right eye, was wearing small hoop earnings and had on a pair of jeans and brown flat shoes. She was currently waiving to everyone on the docks while holding the handle of her cheetah patterned wheeled luggage bag.
"What's up y'all, Leshawna is in the house." The now identified girl called out. The other competitors looked at her curiously while Harold was practically gaping at her for some reason. When the boat docked, she came ashore with her bag as she approached the host. "Yo baby, how's it going?" She asked the host without stopping her walk.
Chris didn't respond with words but with action. Somehow, he seemed to raise his hand in perfect synchrony with Leshawna as they exchanged a high five of respect before she continued towards the others to greet them.
"Feel free to drop out now to save yourselves the trouble, cause this girl came to win." Leshawna told the others with clear confidence in her voice before slowing down as she approached DJ. "Yo what up my brother." She greeted him while raising her hand which he happily mirrored before they exchanged their own high five. "Yeah, give me some sugar baby."
Suddenly Harold popped into view above Leshawna as he looked at her closely. How he did that and what was he standing on to accomplish that the viewers didn't know because they couldn't see past his waist. His actions drew confused looks from everyone else.
"I've never seen a girl like you in real life before." Harold said in curiosity as if he were seeing an unknown animal for the first time.
Leshawna wasn't sure she liked what he said as she turned to him with a hand to her hip. "Excuse me?"
Not knowing any better Harold gestured his arms apart, emphasizing something large. "Your real big and loud."
All competitors except Heather and Lindsay got alarmed eyes at hearing the nerd's words.
"Did he just…" Beth found herself unable to finish her own thought.
"He just implied she's fat? You do not call a girl fat!" DJ thought in alarm knowing that was a clear no go if a guy valued his wellbeing. He saw that happen to a guy that made that mistake once and learned from seeing that spectacle.
"Okay he's either brave or stupid… likely the latter." Noah thought with a frown at the guy's foolishness.
As expected Leshawna did not take those words well. "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME!" She all but roared out, getting frightened looks from Gwen, Geoff, Trent and Beth as they leaned away. "OH YOU HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING YET!" She then stomped towards Harold and got into a position that looked like she was about to lunge at him. Harold in a show of defiance got into a silly karate pose that did nothing to deter her. "I'LL SHOW YOU BIG, BABY!" she began to pounce but was then quickly held back by Bridgette and DJ who kept her from likely hospitalizing the nerd.
Chris watched this transaction and held his gut in restrained laughter. Especially when he saw Harold give him lame karate chops and telling Leshawna "You want a piece of me." In the weakest challenging tone, he'd ever heard.
"Man, I'm loving this show so far and the challenges haven't even started yet." The host thought gleefully before deciding to break up the tension as he clapped his hands to get their attention. "Alright campers, settle down. There'll be plenty of time for conflict but not right now, so break it up."
DJ and Bridgette looked to Leshawna who had looked to Chris. She seemed to calm down a bit before she gave the nerd one last glare and stood up walk back into the group. Harold wisely did the same and stood away from her.
The next boat brought out a surprise to everyone but the host as instead of one, it dropped of two contestants. The first fact was that unlike the contestants, these two clearly knew each other already. The reason for that being because they were wearing the exact same clothes. Although in different sizes given their different body types. One was a black girl with a skinny figure while her companion was white, shorter, and chubby in many places. They both wore matching black and white stripped tops that left their mid riffs exposed. Pink shorts that left plenty of their legs exposed, matching pink shoes and even the same-colored lipstick. Strangely enough even their hairstyles were modeled the same with both sporting two pig tails that were held by matching pink hair clips. Even their eyes, hair color (both being black), dot earnings and luggage bags were identical.
"Sadie and Katie, welcome to the show and your new home for the next few weeks." Chris gave his usual greet while gesturing to where they'll be staying. Rather than complain or show displeasure like most contestants so far they both suddenly gave small squeals.
"Oh my gosh Sadie, it looks just like a summer camp!" Katie told her companion in an overly peppy and excited tone who clapped in delight.
"I've always wanted to go to summer camp with you!" Sadie revealed in a matching tone of peppiness and excitement before the two gave another shriek of delight and quickly grabbed their bags and ran to join the others. The two of them standing at the center left in front of everyone.
"Hi there." They both greeted their fellow competitors.
"Uh hi." Trent replied first to try and be polite. "So, you two know each other huh? That's different from the rest of us."
The two nodded together. "Like we so totally do, we've known each other like forever." Katie answered.
"Uhhh question." Noah raised his hand, getting their attention. "Are you two biracial fraternal twins by any chance?" he idly wondered given how they came together, knew each other, and were dressed the same. The fact they shared the same hair and eye color was just another reason for his thoughts on it.
His mind also considered the possible implications this would mean for the challenges. The fact they knew eachother already meant they'd likely help one another. If they formed an alliance, then that would put them at an advantage since given their closeness. If that happened, then he would need to come up with a plan of his own.
The question surprised the other teens but also made them curious as well.
"Oh no we're just BFFF's." Sadie answered him.
Bridgette blinked. "BFFF's?" she questioned at the third F being present.
"Best Female Friends Forever!" the two cheered together while clapping their hands with each other.
"Gag me." Heather mumbled.
Beth smiled. "I think it's sweet."
Duncan gave an unamused look at the display as he gave his opinion. "Candy and Ice cream is sweet; this however is starting to make me nauseas."
"Hey there's nothing wrong with cherishing your bro's." Geoff defended the fellowship between two friends.
"But they're girls?" Lindsay asked in confusion at Geoff calling them bros.
The party loving blonde turned to his fellow blonde. "It's just an expression."
"Expressing what?" The dumb blonde asked again with a tilt of her head in further confusion.
Geoff and the others sweat dropped at her cluelessness.
"Ahem!"
The contestants froze and turned to an impatient looking Chris who was taping his foot on the dock. "Can we get back to our next contestant now, cause he's already arrived while you guys were all chatty chatty." He then gestured beside him to show said contestant. "Presenting Ezekiel."
Said contestant was a boy with grey eyes and brown hair who wore a pickle green hoodie over a white shirt underneath. He had a blue winter hat on, bluish jeans and a pair of hiking shoes that matched his hoodie.
"What's up dude." Geoff greeted first this time.
To his confusion however, instead of answering the guy looked up at the sky. "I think I see a bird." Ezekiel remarked while pointing at the sky where he allegedly sees said animal.
Trent laughed a bit, Gwen gave a puzzled look, Duncan rolled his eyes while Geoff just blinked. The party loving blond looked up for a moment before looking back at Ezekiel. Before he could respond however Chris put his hand on the new competitor's shoulder as he gave a deadpan look to the others.
"For those of you who are wondering I'll clear things up. Our latest camper here hasn't exactly been out much. He's been homeschooled his whole life at his family's farm and raised by freaky prairie people." Chris revealed earning surprised looks from of the other competitors while Ezekiel simply nodded along. The host then turned to him with a slight urging look. "Just don't say too much and try not to get eliminated too early, ok?" he asked the farm boy who nodded. "Ok good." He then gently pushed the boy towards the others.
"That's just… wow." Gwen trailed off, not knowing what to say after hearing that. She couldn't imagine what it would be like to be raised in isolation from other people.
"Kind of makes you glad you get to meet new people huh?" Trent asked earning a silent look from her before she turned away with a small smile that she hid from him.
The sound of the next boat gained their attention as the next participant arrived.
It was a younger boy who noticeably had a U-shaped head and a scrawny neck. He has teal eyes, brown hair, and tan skin and was of short stature, being shorter than many other contestants. He has a pointed nose, round eyes, and large ears. He wore a cream-coloured short sleeved shirt with a green and red stripe on the chest area. Underneath, he had a khaki long sleeve shirt with white collars sticking out and his sleeves are partially rolled up to his wrists. He also wore blue jeans with deep and large pockets that are a darker shade of blue and olive-coloured sneakers with cream soles.
"Cody, the Code-ster, the Code-Meister." Chris said the last one while playfully pointing finger guns which Cody returned before they exchanged a high five.
"Dude I'm so psyched to be here." Cody excitedly proclaimed as he started to walk with some swagger towards the others. He saw all the girls who were currently here. Immediately he found himself happy to have been chosen as apart from Beth they were all hotties. "I see the ladies have already arrived; hope I get to know you all." He walked past some of them before turning to them again, more specifically Leshawna as he opened his mouth, but she put a finger to his lips before he could speak.
"Save it short stuff." She smirked while turning down whatever he was going for as he just backed away unbothered.
"Yeah dweeb." Heather added as she already had enough when the punk flirted with her. She didn't need a second loser added to that list of things that're bad about staying here.
"THUD!"
The competitors jumped a bit in surprise from the sound. Especially when they felt the dock tremble a bit as if a T-Rex had set foot. They looked back to see that it was from the next competitor who arrived. It was a girl with a noticeably bulky figure as she looked like she could be on a wrestling or football team. She had black hair that was tied in a ponytail, hazel-colored eyes that showed focus, was sporting a unibrow and had a mole at the corner of her mouth. She wore a blue tank top, dark blue gym shorts, white socks with a black and blue stripe that reached her shins and white and black running shoes. In her hand was a large blue duffle bag that looked heavy, yet she showed no discomfort.
"Eva." Chris welcomed her but she said nothing to him as she silently walked past him, he turned to her retreating back before saying. "Nice to have you here."
The girl still didn't answer as he walked to other competitors before standing in one stop and dropped her bag. Which unfortunately for Cody had landed right on top of his foot. The poor boy yelped before hopping on one leg as he cradled his injured foot. The others winced a bit as they heard the heavy thud.
"What the heck do you have in there, dumbbells? Cody asked after he felt something hard and heavy from her bag.
Eva slightly turned her head to address him before simply saying. "Yes."
Most of the competitors got nervous looks as they took a small step away from her. Suddenly feeling like they were standing next to a grizzly bear that could snap at the slightest provocation. Duncan turned to DJ before telling him. "She's all yours man." He made clear his intentions of steering clear of her as the tallest member just gulped and shook his head saying he wanted nothing from her.
"I knew she'd be interesting to have around." The host thought in delight seeing she was more intimidating than he initially believed. A loud "Wooohooo!" however broke his thoughts and made him cringe as it came right behind him.
He turned to see the culprit was a large boy with blonde hair and black eyes. And by large, he means overweight cause boy did he look fat. He wore a large white t-shirt with a teal-colored maple leaf in the middle, green jeans along with white and pear colored shoes.
"Yo Chris! What's happening!" the new guy laughed in excitement, almost pulling at his hair. "It's so cool to be here! It's freaking awesome! Whoohooo!" he finished with a fist to the sky.
"Owen!" Chris returned with equal excitement. He didn't know why but he just felt more excited. Maybe it was cause Owen seemed like a real energetic fan, thought thankfully not the crazy kind you'd have to call the cops on.
Suddenly the host was pulled into a perfect description of a bear hug. Owen even lifted the man off the ground as he wrapped his large arms around him in excitement. He did not notice the clear painful look Chris had nor did he hear the slight cracking and popping of his spine adjusting. "It's so awesome to be here man! I still can't believe I was chosen; this is all just so… so…" Owen trailed off.
"Awesome?" Gwen amusingly asked him with a smile on her face as the boy's enthusiasm seemed a bit infectious.
"YES! AWESOME! WHOOOHOOO!" Owen continued before looking to the goth curiously. "Are you going to be on my team?"
Gwen rolled her eyes a bit before twirling a finger in the air. "Oh, I sure hope so." She said with clear sarcasm which went unnoticed by the large boy as he gave another cheer.
"Okay are you about finished now?" A slightly annoyed and uncomfortable Chris asked the eager boy. Thankfully he finally released and put him down as the host felt his back a bit before standing up straight again.
"Sorry dude I'm just so psyched to be here." Owen told in slightly less enthusiasm.
"And I love that but save it for the show." Chris told him before looking past him and smiling. "Meanwhile here comes our next contestant, Courtney!" he gestured behind him.
The one arriving next was an attractive girl with black eyes, light brown skin that just about reached her shoulders and some freckles between her eyes. She wore a gray top over a white collared shirt, green pants that looked skintight which reached a little past her knees and brownish green toe shoes. She gave a friendly wave as her boat reached the dock. Once it did Chris offered his hand to help her down which she took and gave a "Thank you" in return as she walked to the other campers.
"Hi there, you must be the other contestants. It's really nice to meet you all" Courtney greeted them politely.
Owen wasted no time in shaking her hand though thankfully not as tight as the bear hug he gave Chris. "How's it going!? I'm Owen by the way! It's nice to meet you!" he greeted excitedly.
Courtney smiled appreciatively. "Well Owen it's nice to meet y… oh… wow…" She suddenly trailed off as her eyes had darted back to the dock and suddenly caught sight of the next camper's arrival. When the others did as well all the girls including the stoic Eva, suddenly had the same facial expression as their jaws dropped open.
The reason for that was because the next contestant looked like the definition of drop dead handsome. He had black hair that was well maintained and flowing in the breeze and stunning blue eyes that seemed to sparkle in the sun light. He wore a dark green shirt that clung to his well-toned chest, blue jeans that looked a little worn out yet fitting on him and green sandals.
The guy gave a smile, showing his pearly white teeth. The action caused several different reactions from the girls. Sadie fainted, Katie tried to help her friend up without looking away from the supermodel, Eva got a dopey look, Heather fanned herself to try and cool off, Bridgette clutched her surfboard tighter, and Gwen looked happily dazed as if staring into space. Even some of the other guy's minus Duncan and DJ were being affected by the guy's great looks as they couldn't stop staring. Although Owen was the worst case as he looked to be absolutely starstruck for some reason.
"This is Justin." Christ introduced the handsome boy to the other competitors. Seeing their reactions simply confirmed what he had expected. They were all mostly taken aback by the guy and looked to be charmed. He then raised his fist at him for a fist bump which the handsome teen returned.
"Thanks Chris, it's real great to be here." Justin told the host happily.
Chris then leaned forward a bit. "Just so you know, I picked you entirely because of your looks."
Despite those words however Justin just shrugged his shoulders unbothered. "I can live that and either way I'm still going to be on tv which will help my future modeling career."
"Oh I don't doubt that." Chris thought to himself knowing being on his show would help him with that. He was also quite pleased with the selections he had chosen and met so far. Everyone looked like they'll be an interesting person to see interacting with this environment. Now he just needs to finish introducing the other contestants and then he can finally get to the next part of the show. Just a few more to go until he could really start things rolling.
The sound of the next boat's arrival broke the hosts thoughts as he looked to see who was next. It was a girl who for some reason gave off a wild sensation. She possessed forest green eyes, orange hair that went down to her upper back and wore orange lipstick. Her eyebrows however were black indicating her hair was dyed… or her eyebrows were. She had on a short sleeveless green top that exposed her midriff and had a small triangle shaped opening in the center that showed some of her cleavage. Lastly, she had on green shorts with a lighter green skirt wrapped around her waist like a sash, a green bracelet on her right hand and matching green flat shoes.
"Everyone, meet Izzy!" Chris called out as said girl's boat started to slow down.
Izzy waved to everyone with a smile. "Hi Chris, hi everyone!" she then ran towards the front of the boat but ended up tripping, falling off the boat and hitting the dock with her chin before falling backwards into the water.
Everyone winced at the sight, some rubbing their own jaws as a result.
"Oh man that was bad and I should know from personal experience." Tyler remarked before laughing a little, finding a bit of humor in seeing it happen to someone else for once.
"Talk about a gnarly wipe out." Geoff stated the obvious.
"I think I felt my teeth hurt." Cody mentioned as it felt like his chipped tooth ached for a second.
"You guys she could be seriously hurt from that fall." Courtney ran to help as she kneeled and helped the poor girl up. She pulled her out of the water with Izzy's hair now completely covering her face as if she had a long wig on backwards. "Are you ok?"
Instead of answering right away, Izzy flipped her hair back to uncover her face. Then proceeded to shake her head like a dog as a large amount of the water was flung off her hair. Some of which sprinkled on Courtney as a result.
"That felt so… GOOD!" The excited red head proclaimed as she got up looking no worse for wear. "Except for when I hit my chin! Oh! Is this the campsite!? Do they have Paper-Mache here!? Are we going to have lunch soon!?"
"THAT IS A GOOD CALL!" Owen suddenly spoke up at the mention of food. Now that it was mentioned, he was starting to feel hungry. "Are we having lunch soon Chris?"
"Not until after everyone is accounted for." Chris made clear.
Noah suddenly blinked as he realization something. "Wait a minute, we already have 22 of us here?"
The host turned to the bookworm. "Right you are Noah but see, there's been a small change in the program." Chris revealed earning looks from everyone at what he meant. "See there was a sort of last-minute change to the show. So instead of 22 campers duking it out we'll be having 24 in total."
At hearing that they all got surprised looks.
"You added two more? What for and why?" Noah questioned a bit suspiciously.
Chris shrugged his shoulders. "Well let's just say I received a generous donation to add one other camper to my show but I decided to add another just to keep the number even. And no, the donation was not from a parent to have their kid on the show." He quickly added the last mention to dispel any thoughts of bribery having taken place. At least in the usual regards considering he got paid to add someone said person disliked. He then looked to the campers. "Anybody got a problem with that?"
"Doesn't that mean we'll be staying here even longer than intended?" Trent questioned at the changes more players would result in.
"Meh only for like a week or so." Chris then smirked. "Of course, that's only if you can manage to reach the finals."
"I say bring it on cause whether its 21 or 23, I'm still going to come out on top." Duncan emphasized with a raised fist.
"That's the spirit! Now then I should tell you something about our next contestant. He's going to be a bit different from the rest of you." Chris informed earning some raised eyebrows as a result.
"What, you mean like from a psyche ward or something?" Duncan suddenly asked earning surprised and fearful looks from some of the others at that possibility.
Chris gave the punk a dull look. "I would never be so desperate and foolish as to do that. No, this competitor is different for another reason. As you know my show is taking place in Canada with a Canadian cast to match. However, this guy will be an exception as he hails from the one and only USA!" he revealed getting surprised looks from everyone.
"Is the final entry also from outside Canada?" Bridgette questioned.
"Nope." Chris rebuked. "She's all Canadian, all the time."
"Then why show the special guest before her? Why not save his entrance for last? You know, save the best for last?" Noah asked finding it odd before getting looks from the others for his last question before he added. "That is to say given that he sounds like the most interesting contestant and a special case like you said."
Chris gave an unhappy shrug. "Would have but sadly I didn't get to choose the order in which you'd all arrive in." He then turned to see the next boat arriving in the distance before turning to the crowed. "So, let's give a warm welcome to our foreign camper, Ben Tennyson!" the host pointed to the arriving figure that could be seen at the nose of the boat.
Coming ashore was a guy with a slight athletic build, brown hair and emerald-colored eyes that looked full of life. He wore a black t-shirt with a green stripe that ran down the middle with a white 10 and green stripes on the sides of his shirt. He wore brown cargo pants with pockets at the knees with a brown belt hidden under the shirt and green and white shoes. A dark green duffle bag was hanging over his shoulders while a black wheeled suitcase stood behind him.
Once the boat docked, he wasted no time in jumping off and stretching his arms out a bit. " Ahhh I'm finally here." he then approached the host. "Hi there… Chris McLean, right?"
The man nodded. "Indeed I am." He offered his hand which Ben shook. "Welcome to camp Wawanakwa."
"Weird name." Ben commented.
Chris shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah, well you know how people are. Somethings they just give things names that sound foreign. Still it's certainly catchy and sounds unique wouldn't you say?" he asked.
Ben thought it over and couldn't argue with that. "Can't deny that."
"Cool. Now that you're here, say hello to your fellow competitors." Chris requested while nudging him along as Ben walked towards the others.
"Hi everyone." Ben greeted the large group as he set his bag down.
"Welcome to Canada! I'm Owen!" Owen said right before he gave Ben a bear hug like the one Chris received.
"Urgh!" Ben gasped through some pain as he forced a smile. "Nice to… (sound of bones popping) meet you Owen."
"I think that's enough Owen, besides we'd like to welcome him as well." Bridgette kindly told him as the big boy released him. Ben mouthed a silent thank you to her which she just nodded in acceptance before introducing herself. "I'm Bridgette by the way."
Ben straightened himself and shook off the previous discomfort. "Hi Bridgette."
"You're an American huh, where from exactly?" Tyler curiously asked.
"Oh well, you ever hear of a place called Bellwood?" Ben asked only to get an unfamiliar look from most.
"I have." Noah answered, drawing everyone's attention. "It's a small city located somewhere in New York near one of the rivers but that's all I really know."
"And your right." Ben acknowledged.
"Huh small community I take it?" DJ asked.
"I guess so but it's a nice place all the same. Place has restaurants, malls and all other things you'd find in the bigger cities." Ben shrugged not caring how small the population was.
"Now then campers!" Chris called out getting their attention back to him as he stood before them. "It's time we got to bringing in our final contender so we can get things going."
"Me?"
"AAAAAAAAAHHH!" Chris and all competitors even the tough ones like Eva and Duncan yelped out in startled surprise at the sudden voice which came from none of them. They all turned to where they heard it coming from and Owen and DJ stepped apart as they looked behind them.
A girl was then revealed as she seemed to appear from nowhere. Even weirder since they had neither seen nor heard the boat that supposedly brought her, something that would've been impossible to miss. The girl was of small height being around Beth's own height. She had creamy pale skin, gentle looking teal eyes that seemed to have a tiny trace of eyeshadow below them. Her hair was a lighter shade of blond compared to Bridgette's reaching her waist with two bangs that stopped just above her shoulders and wore purple iris colored lipstick. She had on a dark green sweater, a light blue undershirt which could be seen from the collar around her neck, a dark grey skirt, purple pants that looked skintight and black shoes.
"Where'd the heck you come from!?" Heather demanded while holding a hand over her heart to calm it down.
"From his boat." The girl said as she pointed at Ben who blinked in surprise. Her voice sounded sweet, gentle and even friendly yet there was something mysterious about it for some reason.
"My boat? You were on my boat?" he questioned again.
"Yes." The girl answered.
"Why were you on his boat?" Chris now questioned unhappily. "You were supposed to be on your own boat."
"I preferred his boat to avoid introducing further contaminants to our ecological waters. There's already enough problems from humanities self-destructive tendencies that I just wanted to do something to alleviate things a bit." The girl responded suddenly earning silent looks from everyone.
Chris blinked before leaning towards Ben and whispering. "Did you see her on your boat?"
"No and that's what disturbs me." He whispered back as considering his boat departed right after he stepped off it, he had every right to feel uneasy. He felt like the girl wasn't trouble, but she certainly didn't feel normal that's for sure.
"I was so hoping you wouldn't say that." Chris remarked as now he also felt disturbed after hearing that.
"So umm what's your name?" DJ asked the girl a little hesitantly, given the startled surprise she gave them all.
"My name's Dawn." The now identified girl answered.
"Oh well hi Dawn my names-"
"DJ." Dawn finished for him gaining a surprised look from him and others. "I know, by the way you have a very nice blue aura. It's nice to meet another animal lover."
DJ was suddenly looking a bit uncomfortable. "Umm thank you? How do you know that?"
"It's all over your aura." Dawn smiled as if looking at something heartwarming. "Along with your delight in cooking, appreciation of Jamaican reggae music, love for your mom's homecooked chickpea roti and even though it's not my favorite movie I also enjoyed watching Bob the Gallant Sheep."
And now DJ was silently freaking out as he slowly backed away from her and partially stood behind Owen. The others gave similar responses as they took a step away from the strange girl.
"Is anyone else getting goosebumps or is it just me?" Trent whispered to Noah who also had an unnerved look.
"It is definitely not just you." He whispered back as the other campers nodded to confirm they felt the same. Dawn then raised her hand which held a green luggage bag as she set it down and stood at the front of the group of campers. Everyone who was near her scooted a few steps away. Ben however decided to get to know the girl a little more as he remained beside her.
"Umm so Dawn." He asked getting her attention as she looked him in the eyes, making him pause for some reason. The girl of mystery stared at him for a few seconds before her eyes suddenly got a surprised look that he thought looked almost like in awe. "Is something wrong?" he asked curiously.
She gently shook her head before smiling. "No, nothing's wrong. You had something to say to me?"
"Umm yeah… if you were on my boat, why didn't I see you there?" Ben asked in wonder at her absence.
"You were enjoying the view so much I didn't want to disturb you." Dawn answered honestly.
"Oh." Ben hummed at the simple yet acceptable reason. He could understand giving someone their space and not wanting to disturb a good mood or atmosphere.
"OK CAMPERS!" Chris called everyone, gathering their attention. "Everyone is finally here but before we begin." He paused to lift his hand, showing a camera. "Let's commemorate the event with a group photo for our promos, souvenirs and simple memories!"
The campers complied with the request as they gathered at the end of the dock when their boats had stopped. They all got into their own positions for the photo. Most stood up while others had opted to sit together in small groups with Izzy, Bridgette and Courtney being on the left side. Katie and Sadie being in the middle while Ezekiel and Beth sat in the right side.
"Ok that's good." Chris said from his jet ski in the water as he lined up the camera.
"Umm Chris, I think you left the lens cap on." Noah pointed out when he saw the lens lacked a reflective surface.
"Hmm?" Chris hummed before looking at the camera and seeing it was true. "Oh, so I did thanks for noticing." He thanked before removing the cap and got ready to take the picture. "Ok then everyone smile now and in 3… 2… 1…" he pressed the button only for a small buzzer to go off. He pulled the camera back and saw what the problem was. "Woops sorry the memory card was full, hang on just going to delete some pics and… ok ready now." He told them as they all prepared to take the photo this time. "Ok in 3… 2… 1… Wait a sec! Eva!" He suddenly stopped and called the muscle girl.
"What?" the girl questioned.
"I need you to smile for the camera." Chris told her after seeing she was the only one not doing so.
Eva crossed her arms. "I never smile on command."
The host raised an eyebrow. "How about as a small favor?"
"No."
"Would you do it for 5 bucks?" The host tried bargaining.
"No."
"How about… oh forget it, let's just get it over with." Chris gave up in annoyance as he focused the camera again.
"Can we hurry this up? My face is going to freeze at this rate." Leshawa complained as she and the others were starting to get impatient at the constant delays.
"No worries this time we're good in 3… 2…" Chris counted down before a loud creaking sound was heard coming from the dock. The wooden floor couldn't support the weight of all contenders in one place and fell apart instantly as they all fell into the water. Chris however took pictures of the campers soaked, unhappy and partially embarrassed selves. "That's going to be a couple of keepers for the scrap book." He laughed at the sight of them. "Ok then campers dry off and meet me at the campfire site in 10 minutes, we got a show to prepare!" he said right before driving away on his jetski.
"Anyone else already starting to hate him?" Heather asked in restrained anger at having been soaked a second time.
The silent glares from a few campers answered her question.
The campers dried themselves off as much as they could without changing their clothes. Strangely however when Dawn came back her clothes looked completely dry but they just thought she switched for a fresh set. Once that was done, they all went to the campfire site where Chris waited for them. Given the lack of seats for half of them, the other had to stay standing.
"Okay campers, here's the deal. Staring today this island will be your new home for the next 9 weeks." Chris paused to raise a finger. "IF you can survive elimination to even last that long. Cause if not then you'll be checking out early." He gestured to all of them. "The campers you see around you will be your cabin mates, your competition, your teammates and maybe even your friends."
The campers looked at one another at hearing that. Some looked at the others challengingly, some curiously, some didn't bother looking and some with friendliness. The latter showing with Geoff and Trent who smiled at the sitting Bridgette and Gwen in front of them respectively. Dawn looked to a few of the campers and smiled, earning nervous smiles from those who caught her looking. While the opposite was shown as Harold smiled at Duncan who was standing next to him only to get a raised fist as a response.
"The one who is last without getting voted off will be the one who wins the grand prize of $100,000 dollars!" Chris continued with excitement as he mentioned the reward that awaited them at the end.
"Voted off? You mean we have to choose who leaves?" Ben questioned.
The host nodded. "Correct as unlike most cases where the person who comes in last is removed, instead you'll be split into two teams where with each total loss, you'll have to vote out one of their own. You'll have to think about the team as a whole and vote off those you think aren't helpful anymore to keep your team strong. So, you'll be doing plenty of discussing in the future as you think over your decisions."
"Democracy at it's finest." Noah sarcastically commented.
Chris laughed. "Gotta love the fifth amendment am I right?"
"Yeah, but I don't know about in this case." Geoff said a little bummed. Voting off one of your buds just seemed like a harsh thing to do.
"I'm all for removing deadweight but what will our sleeping arrangements be like?" Duncan then smirked slyly while pointing at Heather. "Because I'd like to request a bunk under hers."
"They're not co-ed." Heather quickly denied before getting a look of slight doubt as she turned to Chris. "Right?"
"Nope." The host quickly assured her to the relief of several girls as well. "There are 12 guys and girls each. Both will be living separately as neighbours in the two lodges we've made for you and neither can enter the others lodge."
"Wooohooo slumber party all night, every night!" Owen cheered as he wrapped his arms around Tyler and Gwen.
"I'm not sure I'm comfortable even with this." Gwen remarked as she had hoped to sleep alone.
"At least you don't have to sleep with him." Tyler pointed out as Gwen followed his eyes over to Duncan who strangely enough was giving a male deer a noogie for some reason. Where did it even come from?
"Leave him alone!" A displeased Dawn said as she pulled the animal from his grasp.
"Wait! What the heck!?" A startled Ben and several other campers thought as they looked back to the now empty seat Dawn had been occupying a second ago. How the heck did she get over there without them noticing?
"Okay now I'm starting to get creeped out by her." Gwen whispered just loud enough for the others to hear.
"Did someone see her move from her seat? Please tell me someone saw her move from her seat?" Cody asked almost desperately.
"No and that just makes it seem more illogical." Noah answered with disbelieving eyes, trying and failing to think how that just happened. There was no sound or anything that gave away her sudden movements.
Dawn tended to the deer as she gently talked it down while gently petting its head. Apologizing for Duncans actions before encouraging it to go back to its home. Some would've thought it was sweet if not for the sight of the deer suddenly smiling as if in understanding before nodding and hopping away. She then returned to her seat while Duncan stood partially shocked before he finally broke out of it and walked back. Unable to come up with a smart-ass remark to make for once.
Chris blinked before he also shook it off. "Ok… let's get on with forming the teams, which I've decided on already in case you didn't know. So, when I call your name go stand over there" He pointed to a corner as he informed them before looking at his clipboard to read the names. "Katie, Owen, Gwen, Justin, Heather, Cody, Beth, Trent, Lindsay, Noah, Leshawna and Ben." The called campers stood and walked to where he had pointed. "From this moment on your team shall be known as…" he paused to reveal a green banner that he threw at Owen who caught and began to unveil it. Once they did it revealed the logo of a standing Gopher that looked to be snarling as it had its frows paws up in fists as if for a fight. "The Screaming Gophers!"
"Yeeeeaaaaaaaah!" Owen cheered as he looked at their team logo he was carrying, it looked so cool. His other teammates looked over their logo, some curiously, some in approval, others with indifference. Ben however wasn't paying attention to the logo. His eyes were busy looking at a certain teammate after he heard their name called out.
"Gwen!" The American camper thought in surprise at learning the goth shared the same name as his cousin. It felt weird to hear his cousin's name being addressed to someone else entirely. This was going to take some getting used to, especially since every time he hears it, his cousin is the first thing that flashes in his mind.
The goth soon noticed him staring as she gave him a puzzled and slightly annoyed look. "Why're you staring at me?"
"Oh sorry, it's nothing." Ben apologized dismissively as he broke eye contact.
"Wait!" Katie suddenly spoke up, realizing who wasn't included. "What about Sadie!?
"Not on your team so deal with it." Chris told her before he continued. "The rest of you; Geoff, Bridgette, DJ, Sadie, Tyler, Courtney, Ezekiel, Izzy, Duncan, Eva, Harold and Dawn. Move over to this spot over here." He pointed to an opposite corner as they did so and threw them their banned, which was caught by Duncan who began to unveil it. "You guys will hereby be known as…!" he paused as their banner was revealed to show an angry fish of some kind with its mouth open as if yelling as well. "The Killer Bass!"
"I like it." Duncan nodded in approval.
"Is that because it has the word killer in it?" Noah questioned sarcastically.
The punk turned to the bookworm with a monotone look. "Why else would I like it?"
"Okay campers, listen up." Chris called to everyone. "You and your team are going to be on camera in all public places for the world to see, during the competitions."
Confessional
"You will also be able to share your innermost thoughts in this outhouse in personal video diaries." Chris explained from inside said outhouse as he sat down while looking at the camera inside, ignoring the few flies buzzing around. "These confessions will be seen by the audience but will be kept secret from the other campers. So, take this chance to speak your mind to let the audience know how your feeling, get something off your chest, brag, gloat or comment. Just try not to make it too casual and boring."
(Static)
Gwen sat with her arms crossed, eyes wandering a bit uncertain. "Umm, ok. So far this suck."
(Static)
"I don't get it?" The voice of Lindsay spoke in confusion with her hands on her hips as she stood in the middle while her back was turned to the camera. "Where's the camera guy?
(Static)
A female loon for some reason was shown putting on lipstick before pausing when it noticed the camera and then quaked.
(Static)
"Hey everyone, check this out. I have something very important to say." A strangely serious looking Owen said before he let out a fart and began to laugh not knowing one of the flies suddenly fell dead from the fumes.
(Static)
"Obviously we have to watch what we say here." Ben remarked while resting his head on his palm. "Personally, I think being the only non-Canadian participating kind of makes me stand out from the rest."
(Static)
"I'm gonna win this thing, that's all you people need to know." Duncan glared at the camera.
(Static)
"I'm so surprised by what I sensed from Ben's aura." Dawn spoke in surprise while sitting with her hands on her knees. "It was so full of life with it's bright green and orange colors. I guess formerly helping people has had a positive experience on his spirit. It's a shame we weren't put on the same team, he seemed so easy to work with."
"Any questions?" Chris asked the campers only get silence. "Okay then let's get you to your cabins." He began to walk off as the others followed him.
A short walk later they were before the two cabins as the host began to point. "Ok people, girls sleep in the east and boys sleep in the west. Once your all settled in head for the lodge for your lunch."
All but one of the campers nodded.
Everyone went to their assigned cabin. Ben was the first to enter their cabin as he saw it was simple inside. Most of it was filled with the twelve bunk beds they'd be sleeping in. Other than that, there were three windows with torn curtains, two by the door and one in the back. An old boiler that still looked usable with vents that exited the roof, a stool in the middle of the room and two large dressers that looked more modern on opposite walls. There were also some wall hooks, firewood for throwing in the boiler and an old lantern on one of the dressers.
"Hmm not much but it'll have to do I suppose." Ben remarked as he walked in and set his bag on one of the bottom bunks by the door. The other guys soon came in as well.
"Well at least it doesn't smell in here." Noah commented in a tone of dislike as he also chose a bottom bunk.
"That might change given who one of our roommates are." Tyler whispered to the bookworm as his eyes nudged to Owen who chose the bottom bunk in the back while the athlete chose a top one.
"I can dig this place." An unbothered Trent said as he scored a top bunk.
"You all better not touch my stuff, that's all I have to say." Duncan warned the other while cracking his fists.
"AHHHHHH NOOOOO COOOOOME OOOON!" A loud groan they recognized as Lindsay's got their attention. The guys walked out to see her whining by her cabins door with Gwen sitting of the front porch, covering her ears to try and block her out.
"What's wrong with her?" Tyler asked the host who stood nearby.
"She just learned the bathrooms are communal." Chris answered with a shrug of his shoulders.
Owen walked out and looked to his roommates in relief. "Man I'm glad we're in our own cabin with just us guys, know what I mean?" he asked only to get deadpan looks from Trent, Noah, Duncan and Ben as they silently walked back inside. As if realizing his poor choice of words Owen panicked a bit. "Oh wait! I didn't mean it like that! I love chicks I just don't like sleeping near them! Ah no wait I mean…" he staggered after them, trying and failing to correct his meaning.
"Hey Chris!" Geoff called out from the girls' cabin after exchanging a few words with his teammate Bridgette. "Is there a chaperone in this facility or something?"
Chris waved off his words. "Your all sixteen here, as old as a counselor in training at a normal summer camp. So other than me and my interns you'll be completely unsupervised. So enjoy your freedom and remember to be responsible." He then paused for a few seconds before suddenly breaking out into laughter. "Hahahahahahaaaaa yeah right!" he kept laughing for several more seconds before managing to calm down and inform them to meet at the lodge in a half hour.
Everyone else he who hadn't gone in yet went about finishing their unpacking. All except for Dawn who was outside the girl's cabin against the side wall. She wasn't entirely alone however as she was in a conversation with another lifeform.
"That was close little guy." She told her small companion who was a cockroach that was in her hand who was looking up at her. "You almost got yourself into trouble by entering the cabin. The girls wouldn't like seeing you and would've tried to squash you." The insect let out a few clicking sounds in response. "Why'd I save you?" she tilted her head at the question. "Because I value the lives of all living things, even the smaller ones like you." She answered with a cute smile as she rubbed a finger on its back which it seemed to like as it gave more clicking sounds. "Thank you for the compliment. It's best you get going now, I have things to do soon and it's best you don't come near here again for your safety." She then set him down as the bug gave a few last clicking sounds before scurrying off towards the forest as she waved. "Bye."
Once everyone finished choosing their bunks and unpacking, they made their way to the mess hall where to Owens delight, they'd be eating food. The campers were lined up in a single file as they made their way towards the person serving the food. It was a large and buff bald black man with black eyes, a unibrow, a double chin and a mustache and a small square beard. He looked like he belonged in any job or career that required great physical strength from boxer to military. He wore a yellowish colored shirt with mid long sleeves, brownish green pants, a white apron and matching white chef's hat on top. Chris said he was called Chef Hatchet.
"Listen up!" Chef called out in a voice that instantly made everyone think, drill sergeant. "I serve grub three times a day and you will eat it three times a day! So, get your trays, grab your food, sit your butts down, eat up and shut up! NOW!"
"Um excuse me." Beth spoke up after seeing the… strange looking food before her. "Will we be getting the major food groups for nutritional value?"
Harold then raised his hand as well. "Yeah, cause I get hypoglycaemic real bad if I don't get enough sugar."
"You get a whole lot of SHUT THE HECK UP!" Chef yelled in both their faces as they quickly ran away in fear with their trays.
"Have a cow." Owen whispered to Noah.
"What was that!" Chef called out startling both boys a bit, he then pointed at Owen while beckoning him closer. "Come closer fat boy, I didn't hear you!"
"Oh, I didn't really say anything important." Owen tried to deflect his previous words.
"I'm sure you didn't!" Chef said a little suspiciously before the fat camper left and Noah came next. "You! Scrawny kid, you need to put some muscle on you!" he then scooped up another serving of food before dumping it over the one he already had. Only to then see the strange sight of the food jumping back up onto the scooper. Chef responded by growling at this refilled scooper and the food seemed to become frightened as it fell back to Noahs tray.
"What did you make in that?" Noah questioned in disbelief at seeing it move. "Cause it's clearly still alive."
"Good point." Chef agreed before suddenly bring out a small mallet and smashing Noah's red food into paste. "There! Now it's dead and won't fight you when it goes down your throat! NEXT!"
The bookwork immediately decided to avoid the red stuff for his wellbeing.
The next one in line was Bridgette. "So Chef Hatchet huh? Is that your real name?" she asked trying to make polite conversation with the cook.
Only for Chef to bring his face right up to hers with a mean look as he said. "That information comes at a terrible price miss sunshine!" his eyes narrowed a bit. "Are you prepared to pay that price!?
Immediately the surfer shook her head fearfully before taking her tray and quickly heading for a table. More in line went and got their so-called food while avoiding making comments. DJ thought how he could've made better food, Eva didn't care as complaining about it would be showing weakness, Duncan thought the food from juvie looked more appealing. Soon enough it was Dawns turn in line.
"Little girl!" Chef called while looking down at her small frame. "You need to eat more if you want to grow up more!"
"Oh, don't worry I'm sure I'll be fine." Dawn softly before looking her food over. "Are these servings devoid of any meat?"
"No meat! Why are you asking that!? Don't tell me your one of those no-good vegetarians!?" Chef shouted questioningly.
Despite that Dawn remained unfazed as she nodded. "As a matter of fact, I am. I swore an oath to myself to never eat any of nature's children. So surely you can respect that kind of commitment like the oath you took when you enlisted in the Navy?"
Suddenly Chef lost his intense and angry look which was replaced by disbelief and even slight unease. "How do you know I served in the Navy?" he questioned in a lower voice. If Chris told these kids anything about his past, oh was he going to pay for it dearly.
"It's all over your aura which is a fitting red with some orange mixed in." Dawn answered as if it was obvious. "Along with your true level of cooking that you've chosen to hide to make things harder for us."
And just like that Chef leaned away from the girl who has managed to weird out everyone she's come across so far.
Dawn then gave a small bow. "Thank you for your service to our country by the way." She lifted her head when she felt something added to her tray and saw it was a can.
"Here's a can of pure beans and avoid the red paste. Now go eat it at your table veggie girl and don't talk about me ever again!" Chef ordered as the girl silently nodded and calmly walked away. The large cook then shuddered, not in fear but disturbance as there was something weird about that girl. How the hell did she know which branch he served in and about his real cooking skills.
The ones who hadn't had their turn yet watched Dawn sit at a table with her teammates. Those seated looked a bit uncomfortable being near her after seeing her talk with Chef. Not that they could blame them since they were weirded out as well.
"That girl keeps being weird." Heather remarked.
"Count yourself lucky you're not on the same team as her." Tyler pointed out while at least being glad he would be staying with the guys. It's not that he disliked Dawn, he just found her weird in a wanting to keep your distance kind of way. Obviously not cause she was dangerous but due to how she was so… unusual.
The rest of them got their food, went to their teams' tables and tried eating their food. It didn't taste bad, but it didn't exactly taste good either. It was like eating simple soda crackers or bread. There wasn't much of flavor to it, which they guessed helped them scarf it down.
Confessional
"I've seen worse." Ben told with a blank look before shuddering unpleasantly as he recalled his grandpa's recipes during his summer vacation when he was ten. "I've had worse." He pointed at the camera accusingly. "If you ate what I considered worse than you'd be eating Chef's slob without any complaint whatsoever."
(Static)
"I'll eat anything really." Owen said with a shrug. "Food is food after all and it's not like it was expired or anything. The taste reminds me of crackers, I like crackers." He then got a wishful luck. "I wish I had some butter though."
Chris soon stepped inside. "Enjoying your meal campers?"
"Yo my man." Geoff called out. "Can we order a pizza or something?"
Instead of the host answering, someone else did when a large kitchen knife shot through the air. The utensil soaring like a dart as it hit Geoff's hat and pulled it off his head before imbedding itself in the wall right next to the door where Chris stood.
"Dahhh my hat!" Geoff cried out before turning to see Chef with another knife in hand looking angry at him. He immediately raised his hands almost as if in surrender. "Brown slop is cool! Brown slop is cool!" he then turned to the others. "Right guys!?"
The other campers all nodded with slight fear that Chef would throw another knife at one of them. The angry cook narrowed his eyes and gave an "I'm watching you" gesture at them that caused them to gulp.
"Alrighty then campers finish and get ready cause your challenge will begin in one hour." Christ informed before he started to walk away only to pause midway out as he turned his head back. "Oh and change into your swimwear cause you'll definitely be needing it for what's in store for you." he left after that.
"So, our first challenge involves swimming?" Bridgette questioned out loud while secretly looking forward to it since she loved being in the water.
"Either that or something that might result in us getting soaked." Duncan remarked with neutral thoughts on it.
"Well it's only our first challenge, so how hard can it be?" DJ asked with calmness since the first challenge is always the easiest in games.
Ben suddenly looked to DJ with an alarmed look. "Dude you just jinxed it!"
The tallest camper turned to him. "Come on, it can't be that bad."
One Hour Later
"Can't be that bad huh…" A displeased Ben repeated to the gentle giant as he, DJ and everyone else looked straight down. Right over the edge of the ridiculously high cliff they were all standing on. They had to be a good thousand feet high at the least which made everything look small from this altitude.
"Ohhh shit." DJ could only say in disbelief and horror, not even realizing he just cursed.
Yep, things were already not looking good for all of them.
That's right people, we have our winner and it's DAWN! It was even between her and Sky at first but then she took a clear lead in the votes. So everyone has been introduced, the teams are set and the action is about to start next chapter. Who will win? Who's getting eliminated first? What will happen differently? Find out next time on Total! Drama! ISLAND!
This chapter ended up longer than I thought but I guess the introductions were the reason for that. I doubt the next one will be as long.
On another note, if ANYONE has any ideas for new challenges then please speak your mind. It can be for making things hard for the campers before the real challenge, a possible reward challenge or a new real challenge. Perhaps even ideas for some twists that could be added to another challenge?
