Chapter 6
With assistance from Stringfellow Hawke and Bonnie Barstow, Sam had installed an iris on the mini gate. With a dial home device intact, she simply needed an auxiliary computer system to control the iris. Knight Industries was state of the art for computers. A chunky desk top computer was programmed and connected by a wire to the dial home device. The system was rude and crude to Sam's estimation but it would do the job. The first dial out would be to rescue Earnest Littlefield.
Sam loved her job and loved classic cars and motorcycles. She also found a new love in KITT and the black Trans Am with the artificial intelligence. She wished the car was hers. Her imagination ran wild with a daydream about her driving to work in that black Trans Am and KITT. She and KITT would be the envy of all the flyboys in the Air Force as her daydream played out.
Daniel could have cared less about the car, the chopper or any technology. He was now on a new quest. To find out who the man in the red suit is and what aliens had to be involved. The fact that none of SG-1 could remember the man in the red suit was most alarming to him as well as Jack. Between the Native American glyphs and the man in the red suit, Daniel found a new mission for himself.
Jack was most concerned with the cult that worshipped Ra. He was wary and wondered if perhaps Ra was still coming to Earth. At the same time he was focused on rescuing Earnest and making sure Teal'c had the access to the symbiont if the FIRM failed to reproduce the medication the Jaffa required.
Wilton Knight provided SG-1 with offices and labs in the warehouse to continue their work. The millionaire understood there was much money to be made in reverse engineering and figured he was going to beat the government to it.
Marella and Archangel had come to Knight Industries along with the crew of Airwolf for a sit down meeting with Devon Miles, Michael Knight, Bonnie Barstow and SG-1. They gathered at a large table for the briefing.
Archangel started. "The FIRM has been following the man on the red suit for some time. An F.B.I. agent named Bill Maxwell is often with the our mysterious red suited super hero. We have been watching him. He tends to visit the home of a Mr. Ralph Hinkley often." He gave a nod to Marella.
She removed a file from the briefcase. "We have had Mr. Hinkley under surveillance. Here is his photo." She handed the pictures to pass. "He's a local high school teacher."
Caitlin took the photo first. She looked at the image. "Kind of looks like the man in the red suit." She passed it down the table to Sam.
Sam looked at the photo. "Has the hair." she agreed and passed the photo down to Daniel.
Archangel stated. "I believe it would be best if we watched Mr. Hinkley closer. I was thinking we could send in Major Carter and Dr. Jackson into the high school undercover. If there is an alien element, I believe they would be best to deal with it."
Sam glanced at Daniel. "It's high school kids. We can handle them."
He sighed, "I suppose."
Sam smiled. "We can teach kids. I can teach science."
Daniel sighed. "Not really what I had in mind but I can do that." He then dreamed, "Who knows! Maybe I can spark an interest in linguistics or archeology for the students. What subject will I be teaching? Language or history?"
Archangel spoke. "Actually, you two would not be teaching."
Sam cocked her head surprised. "We wouldn't? Administration then?" she asked.
"I think it would be best to place you both directly in his class." he told her.
"How would you do that?" she asked baffled. "Daniel and I are not high school students."
Jack tried very hard to not laugh. He told her. "It's the C.I.A., Carter. They can make you into a high school student."
"True." Archangel agreed. "We have a special department for disguises."
Daniel and Sam looked at one another rather shocked.
"No way you are sending us into high school as students." Daniel rebutted. "There is absolutely no way you can pass us off as teenagers."
Marella stated, "We can easily pass you and Major Carter off as class seniors."
He shook his head. "I'm too old."
"We have a ways to make you look the part." she assured him.
His mouth dropped. "You are kidding!"
She smiled brightly. "I'm not."
He leaned back defeated. "High school. I hated high school."
Sam asked, "Was that after your parents died?"
He nodded. "My parents tutored me. I traveled with them all over the globe. After they died my grandfather stuck me in the foster home and I was forced to go to high school. It was awful. I hated it. I got bullied like you would not believe."
Marella stated, "Mr. Hinckley teaches the trouble kids. We can make you look…cool."
He rebutted, "This sounds like a nightmare."
Sam stated. "I was really advanced. I graduated early and was the Academy at seventeen. I was never bullied but I also wasn't very popular either." She confessed, "I was a nerd."
Jack told her. "You still are, Carter."
Marella told her. "You will each be give troubled back stories to fit in the class."
Jack noticed the fear on Daniel's face. He assured. "Come on, Daniel. We sent you undercover to spy on enemy Goa'uld before. This is high school. It should be a cakewalk for you. And best of all…if you get caught you won't be executed."
"Not helping, Jack." he huffed.
"It's high school." he reminded him.
"My worst fear." he admitted.
Short Time Later
Marella assisted in the makeover to transform Sam and Daniel into trouble teenagers. She looked upon her project rather pleased. She dressed Daniel in jeans, black work boots, a white t-shirt under a black leather jacket. She handed him a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
"Here, your accessories." she stated.
Daniel stated. "I don't smoke."
"You do now." she told him.
She then looked upon Sam. She dressed her in tight blue jeans, a white blouse, heavy makeup, lots of cheap jewelry, high heel boots and a black leather jacket with a leather handbag. "Not bad." she concluded.
Sam barked. "I look like a prostitute!"
Daniel stated, "I think the FIRMS's disguise department merely based our covers on a biker and hooker, Sam."
Marella confessed. "Basically." She handed Sam a pack of cigarettes and a lighter as well. "Here."
"I don't smoke either." she huffed.
"Just pretend you do." she told her.
Jack came to the room to see how the disguises were coming. His eyed Sam and Daniel and tried to keep a straight face. "How's it going?" he asked cheerful knowing they were miserable.
Sam huffed. "How does it look, sir?"
"Biker chick?" he asked.
She rolled her eyes.
Marella stated. "On the plus side you can drive yourselves to school as you are both enrolled as seniors."
Daniel asked "In one of Dom's jeeps?"
"I have secured a motorcycle." she told him.
Sam stated, "Least I can drive a bike."
Daniel stated. "I can ride a bike but not my thing."
Marella smiled. "How about a black Trans Am?"
He squinted. "You mean, Michael's car?"
She nodded. "Michael will be training to go off world with String. We figured KITT can act as backup to you and Sam."
Sam held up a hand. "Wait! You are letting Daniel drive KITT?" Oh' no! KITT was her dream car.
She nodded.
"I want KITT." she countered. "You take the bike, Daniel."
"I would rather have a car." he told her.
"I want the car." she sounded.
He smiled brightly. "Hmm….what kind of deal can we make, Sam?"
She asked "What do you want?"
He replied. "I get to choose the next academic lecture."
She gave in. "Fine. We will go to whatever lecture you choose."
Pleased Daniel stated. "We have a deal. You get KITT and I will ride whatever crappy old motorcycle the FIRM gives me."
"It's an Indian." she told him.
He asked Sam. "You sold yours, right?"
She seemed down. "To Siler." She wanted both the motorcycle and the car.
Marella stated, "Let's go get the keys for KITT from Michael." She then led the pair out of the room.
Jack followed behind the pair. He pondered. "Carter is going to be driving KITT." He winced. "For crying out loud." He knew she was infatuated with anything A.I. and cool cars. The mere fact that KITT was an AI in a sports car was alarming for Jack.
They soon entered the room that house the mini gate. At the computer sat Michael Knight with Bonnie Barstow as the pair were learning the programs. Michael looked up and spied Daniel and Sam. He had to admit that Marella did a good job with the disguise. "I almost didn't recognize you two." he told them.
"Thanks." Sam gave a half smile.
Daniel stated. "That's a terrifying thought. So, how is it going on the dialing program?"
"Getting there." Michael stated. "Hey um…in the future…I'm not part of this am I?"
"No." Daniel shook his head.
"Well, if you guys do get back…look me up. I wouldn't mind working with you two." he suggested.
Sam promised. "I will."
Bonnie mentioned. "That's a real big 'if' there."
Sam had to agree. "I know the deck is stacked against us. We could be stuck here." She looked to Michael. "Marella said I get to drive, KITT."
He looked to Daniel. "I didn't think you were the biker type."
"I'm not but I can ride a bike. I rode many bikes and scooters overseas." he told him. "Sam agreed to let me pick our next lecture to go to and she can take KITT."
Jack muttered to himself. "Least I don't have to go to any egghead lectures."
"You get me, String, Dom and Caitlin on the dial out with SG-1 to save Earnest." Michael told him. He confessed. "I can't tell you how excited I am at this chance."
Jack added, "Just hope he has some clothes on this time."
"I'll bring Earnest some clothes." Daniel stated.
