The Archangel landed in the Sahara Desert and the Strike and Aegis went into its hanger. Kira and Karui were asked to go to the infirmary to get checked out. Once the doctor cleared them they went to find Cagalli and Samui.
"Took you long enough to get back" said Cagalli seeing them
"We had to go see the doctor to make sure nothing happened to us during re-entry" said Kira
"Who's in charge here" asked Karui
"ZAFT controls this area and its commanded by Commander Andrew Waltfeld" said Cagalli
"Is he part of our network" asked Samui
"Yes" said Cagalli nodding her head
"So, we should expect an attack to test us but not destroy us" asked Karui
"Most likely" said Cagalli
"I hope the first attack isn't too bad since I am going to have to modify the OS to work in gravity and the desert" said Kira
"What about my OS" asked Karui
"Our spy managed to get a OS that would work in space and any environment on earth" said Cagalli
"You just have to switch it" she added
"That's good" said Karui with relief
"You can do that while I am modifying mine" said Kira
"Ok" said Karui
That night the first 'test' happened when helicopters started attacking them. Everyone woke up when the alarm went off in the ship.
"Looks like the first 'test' is here" said Kira
Kira and Karui ran off towards locker room and got changed before heading to the hanger. They got into their Gundams and Kira asked "What is going on"
"We are under attack from combat helicopters" said Miriallia
"Sounds like they are trying to lure us out" said Karui
"Let us go out and meet them" said Kira
"You can't go out there" said Natarle
"We don't know what is out there" she said
"But we do know what is out there" said Kira
"A trap" he said
"The best way to get rid of a trap is to spring it" said Karui
"What about Earth's gravity" asked Natarle
"I just have to modify the OS" said Kira
"This would be the best time to do it" he added
"Fine" said Natarle
The Strike was loaded with the Aile pack and both the Strike and Aegis launched from the Archangel. They both landed in the sand and were attacked by the helicopters. Kira started modifying his OS while Karui switched hers over to Earth.
Once Kira finished modifying it, he said "I ready"
"Took you long enough" said Karui
"I had to include fighting in the desert into it" said Kira
As the helicopters came around for another pass they were blown out of the sky. The Strike and Aegis then jumped off the sand dune they were on and onto more stable ground only to be attacked by BuCUEs.
The Strike drew one of it beam sabers as the Aegis activated its own and they charged at the BuCUEs. As they were fighting the BuCUEs the Lesseps fired its main cannon at the Archangel only to narrowly miss.
"Looks like they are going all out" said Kira
"Deal with the rest of the strays while I protect the Archangel" he said
"Right" said Karui nodding her head
The Strike took off and destroyed the next attack from the Lesseps while the Aegis started destroying the remaining BuCUEs. But as Karui turned towards the last BuCUE she saw it was focusing on some missile trucks that appeared. That allowed her to easily destroy it.
"You must not have been a very good soldier to get distracted like that in battle" said Karui
"Return to the ship" said Natarle
"We will talk to them tomorrow" she said
As Kira and Karui were getting changed in the locker room, Karui asked "Where did those missile trucks come from"
"They drove in from the desert" said Kira
"So, they are from the surrounding towns" said Karui
"I hope they are not idiots or extremists" she said
The next morning Team Samui joined the command staff of the Archangel to talk to the ones that tried to 'help' last night. They found out they were all civilians from the nearby towns. Once the talks were over the resistance group decided to help them.
They led the Archangel to their base in a canyon near one of their towns where the Strike and the Aegis helped camouflage it.
That night the alarm went off again and when Team Samui and Cagalli look though the cameras they saw that the nearby town was on fire.
"The Desert Tiger has retaliated for them trying to 'help' us" said Kira
"Now we can see what kind of people these fighters are" said Samui
Later, Kira and Karui were ordered to get ready to launch. They ran to the locker room and got changed before they ran to the hanger and got into their Gundams.
"What is the problem" asked Kira
"You are to support the resistance fighters going after the BuCUEs" said Natarle
"Understood" said Kira
The Strike, loaded with the Aile Pack, and the Aegis launched from the Archangel and headed in the direction the resistance fighters went.
"Those damn idiots" shouted Karui
"I can't believe they went after mobile suits with none of their own" she said
"I am starting to think that the resistance fighters are on the wrong side here" said Kira
"This would have never happened if they didn't try to 'help' us" he said
They eventually caught up to the BuCUEs and saw that all the resistance fighters were dead. So, they disabled all the BuCUEs before heading back.
"At least there is less stupidity in the world" said Karui
After they got back to the Archangel they went to go see the command staff.
"How did it go" asked Murrue
"We were too late" said Kira looking down
"But we took care of the ones that did this" said Karui
"At least you were able to do that" said Natarle
A few days later the resistance fighters took some members of the Archangel to the nearby city. They all went as civilians since this is where the Desert Tiger is based. Only for Lieutenant Badgiruel to blow it when she said bye to Team Samui and Cagalli when they got out of the truck.
"There goes our cover" said Samui sighing
"Subtle she is not" said Karui
Kira looked around before he said "Let's see if we can meet up with Commander Waltfeld while we are here"
The three girls nodded their heads as they left to get the supplies.
After getting everything that they needed and sealing them in scrolls, they went looking for Commander Waltfeld. They found him sitting outside a restaurant. So, they bought some food there and sat down at a table near him.
"Doner Kebabs" said Cagalli
"All we need to do is add some chili sauce to them" she said
"No, we should use yogurt sauce" said Karui
"The young lady is right" said Andrew coming to their table
"Yogurt sauce is the only thing you should add to doner kebabs" he said
"I rather not add anything to mine" said Samui eating hers
"How could you eat something so tasteless" exclaimed Andrew
"They actually taste very good plain" said Samui
Kira took both the chili and yogurt sauces and added both to his and ate it.
"They both actually taste pretty good together" said Kira
But before anyone could say anything else they heard something being fired at them. They all turned and looked at the sound and saw it was a RPG.
"Incoming" shouted Kira
Samui, Karui, Kira, and Cagalli took out their guns and disappeared in bursts of speed as Andrew kicked up the table they were at to shield them from the RPG. Kira found who shot the RPG at them and killed him.
Gunmen soon came out of the surrounding alleyways and started running down the street firing at them shouting "Die Coordinator"
"For the preservation of our blue and pure world" shouted another one
"Blue Cosmos" growled Cagalli
Kira, Karui, and Samui took cover and started firing at the gunman while Cagalli stayed near Commander Waltfeld and took out any that got near them.
Once all the gunmen were dead, Cagalli asked "Are you ok Commander Waltfeld"
"I'm fine" said Andrew
"I see she wasn't really exaggerating about your skills" he said
"You actually doubted her after the proof she gave" asked Kira
"I still find hard to believe that shinobi exist today" said Andrew
"Technically that is not true" said Samui
"The Elemental Countries exist separate from the world and everyone thinks there is nothing beyond its borders" she explained
"We only know thanks to Kira" said Karui pointing at him
Soon after that a ZAFT soldier came running up to them.
"Are you all right commander" asked DaCosta
"I'm fine thanks to my friends" said Andrew
"Who are they" asked DaCosta
"These are the ones she told us about" said Andrew
"Oh" said DaCosta looking at them
"Who is this" asked Kira
"This is my second in command, Martin DaCosta" said Andrew
"Let's head back to my base to talk" he said
"I guess that is the reason you wanted to meet with me" he asked
"Yes" said Kira nodding his head
